Why Did I Get Cancer?

Have you ever met someone and the hairs on the back of your neck stood up? Have you ever "felt" like something would happen, and then it did? I was on a business trip a few years ago, and as I got into my rental car at night in a big city, I felt a voice say, "Lock the door now!" For a split second, I tried to "reason" with the voice so I could put my handbag down and put on my seatbelt. Well, I quickly locked the door at about the same time some very scary-looking guy was trying to get into my car! My big takeaway- listen to that still, small voice inside; it will never steer you wrong. In today's episode with Dr. Sarah Trask, we discuss that still-small voice regarding our health. Is there a reason people get sick that has almost NOTHING to do with how they eat and how much they exercise? You will be surprised by some of her answers and the simple tips to lower your risk of getting any illness. I learned a lot from Sarah today and became emotional several times during our conversation.   About Dr. Sarah Trask Sarah is an honours graduate of the Canadian College of Homeopathic Medicine, the only Canadian institution accredited by the Council for Homeopathic Certification and fully recognised by the Accreditation Commission for Homeopathic Education in North America. She is a registered member of NUPATH and an associate member of the CSOH. In addition to her formal education, Sarah completed a 3-year Post Graduate Program in Classical Homeopathy, including an extensive internship with the world-renowned Homeopath Dr. Joseph Kellerstein. Sarah has a thriving family practice, treating patients of all ages and addressing a wide range of conditions. In her approach, she combines homeopathic treatments with nutritional and lifestyle guidance to support her patients' overall well-being. A graduate of Kings Edgehill School in Windsor, NS, Sarah holds a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree from Acadia University. She now lives in Wolfville, NS, with her husband and two children, where she continues to practice and share her expertise in holistic health.   Connect with Dr. Sarah Trask Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sarahtraskhomeopath/ Website: https://www.sarahtrask.com/ Phone no.: +1 902-542-2317 ______ Martinelli Apple Cider Here's the link to my favorite non-alcohol cocktail: https://www.martinellis.com/recipes/martinellis-mule/ ______ Ground Luxe When I was forced into menopause with my cancer diagnosis, restful sleep NO LONGER HAPPENED FOR ME. Studies have shown that participants using grounding sheets experience a significant drop in cortisol levels, leading to improved sleep quality and reduced stress.  What did I have to lose? One thing I never considered during my experience with cancer was the body's ability to heal  itself.  Although I was a holistic nutritionist, my focus was primarily on food. When it came to healing, it was best left to medical professionals. After all, how could the body heal without drugs or medical intervention? Honestly, if someone had told me to focus on healing my body by getting more sleep, eating organic foods, spending time in nature, managing my stress, and maintaining a spiritual practice, I would have thought, "Sure, that might help me feel better," but would it contribute to my healing? Today's guest, Dr. Sarah Trask, taught me about homeopathy.  She shared with me that when she was in homeopathy school, she contracted food poisoning during class; she was nauseous and was about to leave the class. The teacher used her food poisoning as a "teachable moment" for the students. Her teacher gave her a homeopathic treatment, and within minutes, she was better. She was sold on the power of homeopathy. Sarah's podcast today features some astounding stories of healing. I had so many takeaways, and I hope you do, too! Break 1: KIA MOG (07.14.22 KIA MOG)   STORY 1:  Norcross Grad Alvin Kamara Signs 2-year, $24.5M Extension with Saints Alvin Kamara, a Norcross graduate, is staying with the New Orleans Saints after signing a two-year, $24.5 million contract extension, keeping him with the team through 2026. Despite rumors of a trade, Kamara denied wanting to leave. The extension helps the Saints save about $18 million against the salary cap in 2025. Kamara, who has been with the Saints since being drafted in 2017, has had a successful career, including being named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and making five Pro Bowls. This season, he has 438 rushing yards, six touchdowns, and 34 receptions for 252 yards. STORY 2:  Gwinnett Schools Scales Back on Clear Book Bag Rule. Here's Why Gwinnett County Public Schools is facing criticism for purchasing clear book bags for students before gathering feedback from parents on a proposed requirement for their use. Initially planned for all schools, the policy is now a pilot program at select schools. Critics, like Steve Smith, argue the district moved forward with a $1.3 million purchase before the survey was completed. The clear bags are a response to a recent school shooting, but opinions are divided: 50.7% of parents oppose the bags, while 87% of students are against them. Despite mixed feedback, the district will proceed with the pilot program, emphasizing safety concerns. STORY 3: Gwinnett Tech's Nursing Program Receives National Accreditation Gwinnett Technical College's Associate Degree Nursing program has received accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) through 2032. This accreditation confirms the program's adherence to rigorous standards, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for the workforce. It enhances the college's reputation and strengthens ties with healthcare industry leaders, assuring employers of the graduates' readiness and skills. The ACEN accreditation process involves a thorough evaluation, including a self-study report and on-site peer review. This recognition underscores Gwinnett Tech's commitment to providing quality nursing education aligned with industry needs. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. This rebate aims to aid Georgians, especially those impacted by Hurricane Helene, amidst ongoing high prices. Kemp also recently suspended the state sales tax on gasoline following the hurricane. The rebate offers $250 for single filers, $375 for heads of households, and $500 for joint filers. Kemp emphasized using the state's budget surplus for taxpayer relief rather than expanding government programs. There are more than 2,600 colleges and universities with nursing degree programs in the United States, offering a mix of options from associate-level degrees to doctorates. Ensuring that those programs deliver high-quality education is the focus of today's guest, Kathy Chappell, PhD, RN, the CEO of the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, also known as ACEN. “We have this regulatory compliance function as an accreditor, but at the end of the day, it's about high-quality education for nurses. We want their students to excel so it's really our job to be their support and partner in understanding and meeting the standards,” Chappell tells host Hillary Acer. The veteran clinician and educator says ACEN is also assuming the role of partner in the broader cause of addressing the nursing shortage by using its influence to support the expansion of education programs, which she thinks should be a national priority. “I would consider it to be a public health crisis. I really do. I think it's as critical as the COVID pandemic.” This is a great scan of nursing education that includes a discussion of international accreditation, interprofessional education and the challenges nursing programs face in preparing students for a very demanding profession. Mentioned in this episode: https://www.acenursing.org/

Cherokee Thanksgiving is in its 30th year feeding local families this year, said Cheryl Mosley, the coordinator of the event. What began with a small group at Canton First United Methodist Church has grown to a nonprofit organization with over 200 volunteers. The group expects to serve about 2,400 meals this year, Mosley said. The meals are for anyone — those who cannot make or buy their own meals, and first responders like police and firefighters who have to work on Thanksgiving. People can have their meals delivered or they can order a meal to pick up and take home. This year's event was planned to be organized from Williamson Bros. Bar-B-Q in Canton, which has helped provide food in the past, but plans had to change quickly after a fire shut down the restaurant earlier this month. The couple connected the nonprofit with another local restaurant, La Catrina Tacos and Margaritas in Canton, where staff are now also helping prepare food to continue the tradition. This year's Cherokee Thanksgiving meal is chicken, rice, green beans, dressing and gravy, a roll and a sugar cookie.   #CherokeeCounty #Georgia #LocalNews           -          -          -          -          -          -          The Cherokee Tribune Ledger Podcast is local news for Woodstock, Canton, and all of Cherokee County. Register Here for your essential digital news.             This podcast was produced and published for the Cherokee Tribune-Ledger and TribuneLedgerNews.com by BG Ad Group     For more information be sure to visit https://www.bgpodcastnetwork.com/    https://cuofga.org/   https://www.drakerealty.com/   https://www.esogrepair.com/                   See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

What is Chinese medicine?Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is thousands of years old and has changed little over the centuries. Its basic concept is that a vital force of life, called Qi, surges through the body. Any imbalance to Qi can cause disease and illness. This imbalance is most commonly thought to be caused by an alteration in the opposite and complementary forces that make up the Qi. These are called yin and yang.Ancient Chinese believed that humans are microcosms of the larger surrounding universe, and are interconnected with nature and subject to its forces. Balance between health and disease is a key concept. TCM treatment seeks to restore this balance through treatment specific to the individual. It is believed that to regain balance, you must achieve the balance between the internal body organs and the external elements of earth, fire, water, wood, and metal.Treatment to regain balance may involve:AcupunctureMoxibustion (the burning of herbal leaves on or near the body)Cupping (the use of warmed glass jars to create suction on certain points of the body)MassageHerbal remediesMovement and concentration exercises (such as tai chi)Acupuncture is a component of TCM commonly found in Western medicine and has received the most study of all the alternative therapies. Some herbal treatments used in TCM can act as medicines and be very effective but may also have serious side effects. In 2004, for example, the FDA banned the sale of dietary supplements containing ephedra and plants containing ephedra group alkaloids due to complications, such as heart attack and stroke. Ephedra is a Chinese herb used in dietary supplements for weight loss and performance enhancement. However, the ban does not apply to certain herbal products prepared under TCM guidelines intended only for short-term use rather than long-term dosing. It also does not apply to OTC and prescription drugs or to herbal teas.If you are thinking of using TCM, a certified practitioner is your safest choice. The federally recognized Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) accredits schools that teach acupuncture and TCM. Many of the states that license acupuncture require graduation from an ACAOM-accredited school. The National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine offers separate certification programs in acupuncture, Chinese herbology, and Oriental bodywork.TCM should not be used as a replacement for conventional or allopathic treatment, especially for serious conditions, but it may be beneficial when used as complementary therapy. Since some TCM herbal medicines can interfere or be toxic when combined with Western medicines, you should inform your doctor if you are using TCM. Kokko Wellness, https://www.kokkowellness.com/
