“I mean, you know how it was with Michael. And when I heard that phrase, it was just... He saved my life. Like, what? He just sung a song, right? Like, but, you know, take probably one of my favorites, ‘Man in the Mirror.' Man, it still gets me. So, just from an experience standpoint, and I've done some travels in mental health and, you know, talking to people, I do understand how important music, or how powerful I should say, music is. So it absolutely feels like that being a musician, and then, I think, if you're a musician in church, it's… I've had some moments, Jodi.” – Jastin ArtisThis episode's guest is a multi-faceted artist, producer, engineer, and indie A&R who bridges creativity with leadership. I would so appreciate that.(00:00) - How Sound Shapes Our EmotionsAs we start things off, Jastin tells us about his early musical influences, from Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin to growing up with Michael Jackson on the radio. “I would say I was probably four or five,” he recalls. “It was when the movie came out, Moonwalker, and I used to go to my mom's friend's house who was in the neighborhood every day after school and watch that movie.” We talk about the power of sound and music, and how easy it is to lose touch with our musical side as adults. “Everybody who has a guitar that's for decoration, that's sitting there,” he says. “I'm telling you, please pick it up. Play it while you're watching your favorite show, whatever. That little time adds up.”(10:45) – Harnessing the Power of MusicOur conversation focuses on the healing power of sound, and the impact it's made on Jastin's own life. “If it weren't for music,” he tells us, “I don't think I would be here… if I didn't have access to these records, if I didn't have that, just, I don't think I would be the man that I am.” He shares his perspective as producer and A&R executive, and how hard it can be to shake off that perspective sometimes when it comes to just sitting back and enjoying music. “I'm listening and I'm like, wait a minute,” he says, “what did they do, know what I mean? And then other times you're just, let me just chill.”(18:30) - The Intersection of Sound and BrandingAs the first half of our conversation wraps up, Jastin tells us more about his A&R work and what it's taught him about the sound...

In this ICYMI article-read episode of I Hear Design, we explore Radford University's Artis Center for Adaptive Innovation and Creativity, an interdisciplinary, student-centered hub that brings the health sciences and the arts under one roof based on a recent article published by interiors+sources. Designed by Hord Coplan Macht in collaboration with William Rawn Associates, the 178,000-square-foot facility replaces siloed departmental space with shared, multipurpose environments—from studios and maker spaces to tech-enabled collaboration zones—helping reduce redundancies and deliver a more efficient footprint. You'll also hear how the building's campus-connector strategy turns the facility into both a destination and a thoroughfare, while universal design solutions address a challenging 60-foot grade change to support barrier-free access, belonging, and wellbeing.

David shares his journey from pre‑med student and college baseball player in Lubbock, Texas to becoming a successful illustrator and, later, a fine artist rooted in realism and storytelling. He recounts formative experiences at the Illustrators Workshop in New York, his years sharing a Dallas studio with top illustrators, and the lessons they taught him about composition, narrative, and creating “a place for the eye to rest.” David explores how memory, truth, and heritage—big skies, ranch life, and family artifacts—shape his work and give it emotional honesty. A major focus is David's new long-term project, “The Art of Wandering,” where he will document how mental and physical wandering with a sense of wonder leads to ideas, large paintings, and deeper relationships with collectors and fellow artists. David also dives into the idea of art as a lifelong calling, discussing struggle, hard work versus talent, the trap of imitating others, and the importance of finding one's own authentic voice by pursuing one's own heart. David closes by reflecting on art as a conversation without words, his hope that truthful work outlives the artist, and his gratitude for the creative community and opportunities ahead.David's FASO site:davidgriffinstudio.comDavid's Social Media:instagram.com/davidrgriffinfacebook.com/david.griffin.5

In this episode of Crazy Wisdom, I, Stewart Alsop, sit down with Argentine artist Mathilda Martin to explore the intimate connection between creativity, flow, and authenticity—from how swimming mirrors painting, to why art can heal, and what makes human-made art irreplaceable in the age of AI. We also touch on Argentina's vibrant art scene, the shift in the art world after COVID, and the fine line between commercial and soulful creation. You can find Mathilda's work on Instagram at @arte_mathilda.Check out this GPT we trained on the conversationTimestamps00:00 – Mathilda Martin joins Stewart Alsop to talk about art, creativity, and her upcoming exhibitions in Miami and Uruguay.05:00 – She shares how swimming connects to painting, describing water as calm, presence, and a source of flow and meditation.10:00 – They discuss art as therapy, childhood creativity, and overcoming fear by simply starting to create.15:00 – Mathilda reflects on her love for Van Gogh and feeling as the essence of authentic art, contrasting it with the coldness of AI.20:00 – The conversation turns to the value of human-made art and whether galleries can tell the difference between AI and real artists.25:00 – They explore Argentine authenticity, “chantas,” and what makes Argentina both chaotic and deeply real.30:00 – Mathilda talks about solidarity, community, and daily life in Buenos Aires amid political and economic instability.35:00 – She highlights Argentine muralists and how collaboration and scale transform artistic expression.40:00 – The pair discuss the commercialization of art, the “factory artist,” and staying true to feeling over fame.45:00 – Mathilda explains how COVID reshaped the art world, empowering independent artists to exhibit without galleries.50:00 – They end with art markets in Argentina vs. the U.S., her gallery in New York, and upcoming shows at Spectrum Miami and Punta del Este.Key InsightsArt and Water Share the Same Flow: Mathilda Martin reveals how swimming and painting both bring her into a meditative state she calls “the pause.” In the water, she feels the same stillness she experiences while painting — a total immersion in the present moment where the outside world disappears.Art Is a Form of Healing: Mathilda emphasizes that art is not just expression but medicine. She references the World Health Organization's recognition that creativity benefits mental and physical health, describing painting as a space of emotional regulation and clarity.Human-Made Art Has Soul, AI Doesn't: One of the episode's most thought-provoking moments comes when Mathilda contrasts the warmth of human-made art with the cold precision of AI. She believes that while AI can replicate technique, it can't replicate feeling — and that collectors will always value art infused with human emotion.Authenticity Defines Argentine Culture: Mathilda paints a vivid picture of Argentina as a land of contradictions — full of chaos, charm, and honesty. Argentines, she says, are “authentic, sometimes too direct,” a quality that shapes both their relationships and their art.COVID-19 Changed the Art World Forever: The pandemic disrupted the old gallery system and gave artists freedom to organize their own exhibitions. For Mathilda, this shift created independence, even if it also demanded new entrepreneurial skills.Commercial Success vs. Soulful Creation: Mathilda critiques “factory artists” who mass-produce work for fame or profit, contrasting them with artists who create from genuine emotion. The real challenge, she says, is maintaining authenticity in a system that rewards volume over vulnerability.Art as Connection and Presence: Beyond skill or aesthetics, Mathilda believes true art is about human connection — between artist, viewer, and the moment of creation itself. Whether painting, swimming, or teaching workshops, she views art as an ongoing conversation with life's deeper flow.

In this episode of The Clay Edwards Show, we dive into a controversial officer-involved shooting in Jackson, Mississippi. A retired FBI expert, Jeffery Artis, has deemed the deadly force used by Capitol Police officers Michael Rhinewalt and Steven Fredrick as justified during a 2022 traffic stop that killed Jaylen Lewis. On September 25, 2022, officers attempted to pull over Lewis's Jeep, linked to auto burglaries. The vehicle struck a police car and accelerated toward the officers, prompting them to fire. Lewis was armed with handguns, an assault rifle, and drugs were found inside. Despite the officers' fears for their lives—backed by witness accounts, including passenger Selena Hayes, who said Lewis was fleeing, not targeting them—Rhinewalt and Fredrick face manslaughter charges from the Attorney General's office, indicted in April 2025.Artis, drawing on Supreme Court standards, argues the response was objectively reasonable, viewing the vehicle as a deadly weapon. Join us as we unpack the evidence, expert analysis, and implications for police accountability.

Have you ever considered dry fasting for five days to regenerate your body, or using a pendulum to shift energy and reduce pain? I'm sharing some wild ideas today. I talked with Sean McCormick, host of the Optimal Performance podcast and a human guinea pig for health experiments. We discussed the kettlebell mile, a test of strength and endurance, and how grip strength predicts longevity. Sean shared insights on nicotine as a neuroprotectant and its effects. We explored the deep benefits of dry fasting, including muscle preservation and fat loss. Sean also described using a pendulum to harmonize energy and reduce pain. He shared his experiences with mini-dosing LSD for creativity and focus. I learned about the importance of N of one experiments for personal health journeys. Key takeaways Grip strength is an indicator of longevity, and tests like the kettlebell mile assess both strength and aerobic capacity. A dopamine detox protocol can help reset your body and mental clarity. Dry fasting for multiple days (without food or water) can regenerate the body on a cellular level, preserve muscle, and lead to significant fat loss, reaching deep ketosis and stem cell activation. Nicotine has potential benefits as a neuroprotectant, nootropic, and may offer anti-bacterial or anti-parasitic properties, but it can be addictive and is a vasoconstrictor. Oral TRT offers a different approach to testosterone replacement by providing mini-doses that may not hijack natural production. Herbal supplements, like dried ants, are used in traditional practices for physical strength. Pendulums made of magnetic metals can be used in energy medicine to harmonize energetic points, transmute negative energies, and potentially reduce pain. Microdosing or mini-dosing psychedelics like LSD or psilocybin can enhance creativity, focus, and offer anti-inflammatory effects, and can improve cognition. Conducting "N of one" experiments is a critical and fun way to learn about your own body's response to different health and fitness protocols. In this podcast, Kyle interviews Dr. Bryan Artis, a retired chiropractor and author of 'Moving Beyond the COVID-19 Lies: Restoring Health and Hope for Humanity.' Dr. Artis discusses his controversial theory that COVID-19 and its long-term effects, as well as vaccine injuries, are linked to various venoms, including those from king cobras, crate snakes, and marine life, identified in patients' blood, urine, and feces. He recounts his journey from a personal tragedy involving his father-in-law, who died after being given a flu drug protocol in a Dallas hospital, to his extensive research into the true causes of COVID-19 symptoms and long COVID. Dr. Artis explains his findings about how nicotine receptors play a crucial role in combating long COVID and COVID vaccine injuries, referring to numerous studies supporting his theory. He emphasizes the effectiveness of nicotine patches in treating long COVID symptoms and urges people to seek natural remedies as effective solutions. Additionally, he highlights the pharmaceutical industry's role in controlling treatments and censoring alternative solutions that could offer relief without long-term dependencies on drugs. The podcast ends with a discussion on the future implications of his research, the pharmaceutical industry's influence, and the importance of staying informed and proactive about one's health. I grew up watching so many tv shows and as a performer I wanted to create something I've never seen. I wanted to mix my love of reality tv, web series, and film into my own version of a proof of concept film for my web film series I wrote. It;s time for a plus size, poc, to lead a comedy film series and why not me! From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film? This was a one year process. I am a graduate of School of Visual Arts as a Film Directing Grad Program. I wrote the script in the summer of 2024, and started preproduction winter of 2024, and was in post production by early spring 2025. How would you describe your film in two words!? Fabulously Iconic. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film? Biggest obstacle for any indie filmmaker/creative; where is the money coming from?
