In this engaging conversation, Troy discusses business growth and insights with Braith Bamkin, founder of braithbamkin, highlighting the importance of personalization in marketing for small businesses. Bamkin shares experiences, stressing the significance of respect in workplace culture and the evolution from being a business owner to owning a business. They explore the value of ongoing learning, exit strategies, and cultivating a sustainable work-life balance. Why would you wait any longer to start living the lifestyle you signed up for? Balance your health, wealth, relationships and business growth. And focus your time and energy and make the most of this year. Let's get into it by clicking here. Troy queries our special guest about their journey's inception, the criteria for defining success, industry reflections, and navigating the most challenging phases of business growth. He explores their passion for small business development, essential habits for owners, and perspectives on team building, victories, setbacks, and valuable advice. Additionally, Troy recommends that the special guest should explore the episode featuring Mark Ritson, who shares valuable marketing strategies. And a snapshot of the final five Grow A Small Business Questions: According to Braith Bamkin one of the hardest aspects of growing a small business is the transitioning from employee to business owner, as it requires more than ownership; it demands the development of systems, delegation, and stepping back from every operational detail. Shifting from doing the work to managing the business is a crucial mindset change for entrepreneurs during their growth journey. Braith Bamkin's top business book pick is "The Slight Edge" by Jeff Olson, lauding its emphasis on continuous small improvements, echoing his belief in consistent, incremental progress ("kaizen") for impactful business and personal development. For small business growth Braith Bamkin endorses "SendSpark," a personalised video tool Integrated into emails, it enhances engagement, adds a personal touch, and fosters connections, contributing significantly to business expansion. Braith Bamkin suggests the "How to Life" podcast hosted by Jonathan Fields as an excellent tool for professional development. Braith Bamkin's advice to his younger self when starting out in business would be to "believe in yourself." Reflecting on personal experiences, he highlights that lacking self-belief often led to less favorable outcomes. Thus, advocating the importance of self-confidence and belief in one's abilities as a crucial factor in navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship. He also gave one of the most thorough and impassioned answers to what bravery is that we've ever heard on this podcast about bravery... So already, that's worthy of a listen. Before the Fort Myers man became a successful barbershop owner, published author and motivational speaker https://www.winknews.com/tag/inspiring-people/ (inspiring people), Suarez, 36 years old, said he grew up on the wrong streets and the wrong side of the law. Ivan Suarez displays his prison identification card on his social media pages because he wants people to know about his past and believe in their future, no matter where they are. (Credit: Ivan Suarez) “Fort Myers has always been a great place to live,” Suarez said. “But like any other town, it has it's dark spots. As a kid coming from a single-parent home, I come from those same streets kids tend to get lost in.” Suarez said he was in and out of trouble as a kid and at age 23 when he was incarcerated for armed trafficking. “I got out with a new vision on life and I vowed to never go back to that life again,” Suarez said. “About two and a half years after being released from prison, I opened up my very first barbershop, Boomz Barbershop.” Twelve years later, Suarez is running two barber businesses in his hometown and reaching out to kids in the community, sharing his story to motivate youth. “If I can grab that one child, if you influence them correctly, they will influence their friends correctly and so on and so forth,” Suarez said, “showing people there is more to life than what you are subject to.” Suarez, who wrote a book, travels around his community and the world as a motivational speaker. He also visits prisons to encourage inmates to find a new perspective and passion as he did. Ivan Suarez gives a motivational speech, inspiring people to overcome adversity. (Credit: Ivan Suarez) “Encouraging people to do more and be more,” Suarez said. One of his regular customers, Renny Razor, said he chooses Suarez's services because of his past and because of the impact he sees the Fort Myers native making on the community's youth. “I would describe him as an inspiration,” Razor said, “a businessman who started from nothing and now has two barbershops and also is an author, traveling the world and his mess-ups in life are his message to the youth.” Suarez has traveled as far as China to teach a class at the All-Star Barbering Academy and speak to children overseas. Dana White shares his dark moment around the sale of UFC, his relationship with Trump and addresses Jake Paul in an open and brutally honest discussion this week on The Pivot. The UFC President and Business Icon invites Ryan, Fred and Channing to UFC headquarters and doesn't hold back as he talks tough topics with the guys. As Ryan asks Dana about his mindset during the business dealing of the UFC, Dana breaks down in a vulnerable moment saying how he shut down and went through a very dark time when the sale of the UFC was happening- “I locked myself in a hotel room off the radar and was really F'd up for a few days,” as he explains the moment. Dana goes on to share with Fred and Channing how when the UFC was a nothing brand yet that no one wanted to deal with, one person had his back and let him host events and that was Donald Trump. He discusses his long relationship with the former President and goes on to explain how we all have friends who we don't always agree with on everything but it doesn't change us from being their friend. Getting into the pay scale of fighters and often criticized business end of UFC, Dana explains his “eat what you kill”'motto which is something Channing is a big proponent of. One important message he gets across is that you don't have to like everyone to do business as Dana explains his disdain for the likes of Tito Ortiz, Bob Arum and Jake Paul but doesn't let his personal feelings get in the way of closing a deal. By the end of the conversation, Fred recognizes the respect level he has for Dana and explains how media misconceptions led him to have a pre-conceived notion about Dana but his openness and honesty changed that. It didn't take him long to realize that he had much bigger aspirations and wasn't content simply being known for his looks. That is how Redline Steel was started. He took a concept that almost no one was doing and has built it into an 8 figure per-year business. Colin was ranked the most interesting entrepreneur by Forbes and has been featured everywhere. Norman Bodek, the Godfather of Lean, was a visionary, great promoter and always willing to help. His recent passing has many in the lean world sharing stories of his contributions and how he impacted their lives. For Chris Barnes, it was simple, as the host of Supply Chain is Boring, he wanted to share his story and he was willing to oblige. They started by discussing the session length. Norman was concerned with having enough to talk about. Chris indicated if they could get about 50 minutes of content, they would be good. A couple hours later they were finished. As an end-product they created 3 separate podcast episodes. That was Norman. Loved what he had accomplished and was able to recall everything as if it happened yesterday. Given that Chris started his career implementing JIT (and Lean) solutions, he felt like a pupil sitting at the side of a great philosopher. He was always teaching and enjoyed sharing the benefits of what could be. He viewed the future as full of possibilities. Little did Chris know one of the best parts of being a podcast host is getting to know people like Norman Bodek.
