On this episode of the podcast, Rick Gates, then-first time presidential candidate Donald Trump's 2016 Deputy Campaign Chairman dives into the anticipated transition process for President Trump's second term, highlighting critical appointments and their far-reaching impact. Gates reflects on President Joe Biden's respectful meeting with the incoming 47th president, suggesting Biden's cordial approach was a gesture of recognizing Trump's ‘resounding' victory. He also underscores President Trump's strengthened national security team, shaped by insights from the first term and extensive transition process. Other key appointments include Tom Homan as Border Czar, Elon Musk to streamline government efficiency and Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense — each seen as essential to Trump's second-term agenda. Gates also envisions transformative leadership within several agencies, discussing the potential of Cabinet members like Florida Representative Matt Gaetz as U.S. Attorney General and former New York Congressman Lee Zeldin as EPA Administrator as they're both poised to bring sweeping reforms under their leadership and at the direction of President Donald J. National's campaign chair has clarified his earlier warnings of a second election.   The final vote count reveals National's dropped two seats to 48, which means it no longer has a majority with ACT's 11 and will need New Zealand First.   During the campaign Chris Bishop cautioned voters could be sent back to the polls if the three parties couldn't come to an arrangement.   Today he told Andrew Dickens that was only one scenario.   “As things have turned out, there have been really productive and constructive conversations between New Zealand First and National, and also between National and ACT, and so that is not a possibility.”  LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Labour's Angela Roberts has reported being slapped at a debate, and Te Pati Maori's Hana Maipi-Clarke says she's had a politically-motivated home invasion. National Campaign Chair Chris Bishop says the gangs are campaigning for a third Labour term and aim to keep National out of Government. "The behaviour our candidates have experienced on the campaign trail has been disgraceful. There's been death threats, there's been people having to move house, one of our candidates has had a Head Hunters member threaten them when they're out at dinner." 9:05 - 9:20 - Blackface video controversy Utah is back in the national spotlight - but for a bad reason. A viral video shows Utah teens walking around a Walmart in Cedar City in blackface and prisoner costumes for Halloween. To top it off, they were accompanied by a white female dressed as a police officer. Governor Cox has responded with disappointment. Dan Rascon from KSL 5 joins the show to share what he found out about the video, police and school district involvement, and the wrong kids being improperly outed as culprits in Black face costumes.   9:35 - Drag show in St. George KSL.com investigation reveals how a drag show in the “town square” in St. George caused a stir behind the scenes at City Hall and may have cost taxpayers a $625k payout to a top city official. KSL Legal Analyst Greg Skordas weighs in on if drag shows can ever be banned in the town square.   9:50 - Where does $100 go? Tax has always been a confusing topic. What are the different types and levels of taxes? Where does all of our money go when we pay for taxes? Feeling broke and taxed to death, Dave and Debbie take a $100 bill and break down how all types of taxes eat away at your hard-earned income.   10:05 - GOP vs. Democrat mail-in voting trends Utah's mail-in voting is slower this year compared to 2018 and 2020's elections. National Republicans have increasingly opposed absentee ballots since 2016, but Utah has stood apart in its support for the practice. Are Republicans voting less by mail this year? What will the slowdown mean for the overall election? Longtime Salt Lake County Clerk Sherrie Swensen joins the show to discuss the trends and what they mean for Utah.   10:20 - Breakdown of Evan McMullin's interview Last night, Utah Senate candidate Evan McMullin joined KSL at Night to emphasize how an independent Utah Senator would make Utah matter more nationally. Joined by Leah Murray, Political Science Professor at Weber State University and Host of KSL at Night, Dave and Debbie dig into the interview's details, including a national debate that was supposed to happen on Fox News and was shut down by Senator Lee's campaign.    10:35 - 10:50 - Should TikTok be banned? The FCC announced that the U.S. should ban TikTok due to privacy concerns regarding China's involvement with the app, and FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr has been warning about this since June of this year. This brings up the question: Should TikTok be banned? Dave and Debbie discuss with Earl Foote, CEO of Nexus IT Consultants, who shares his thoughts on what we need to worry about. 11:05 - News around the world with Boyd Matheson As the nation sets their focus on the midterm elections, there are other parts of the world that are going through similar issues. Brazil and Israel are also in election season. In the UK, the new Prime Minister is starting his role. North Korea keeps firing missiles and supplying artillery to Russia. Boyd Matheson, Host of KSL's Inside Sources, joins the show to give Dave and Debbie a quick world tour of all the top news.   11:20 - Capitol police security In 2021 alone, the Capitol Police were made aware of ten thousand threats. That huge number and the politically motivated attack on Paul Pelosi have pushed the Chief of the Capitol Police to call for heightened security for members of Congress. Dave and Debbie examine an interview this morning with ABC law enforcement reporter Luke Barr. The hosts break down the spectrum of political violence from far right to far left, which two groups receive the most threats of violence, and how much more security will be needed.    11:35 - Senator Mike Lee's campaign Election Day is just a few days away, meaning that it's time to get those ballots filled out. Earlier we did a breakdown of Evan McMullin's campaign and interview with KSL at Night. How is Mike Lee's campaign doing? Amelia Powers Gardner, Utah County Commissioner and Campaign Chair for Senator Mike Lee, joins the show to talk about the campaign and share her response to the low voter turnout in Utah.   11:50 - Blackface video updates The viral video of the teens wearing blackface in Cedar City has received 3.4 million views on Twitter alone. Are punishments being floated? KSL reporter Aimee Cobabe joins the show to give more details and updates on the case.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Tom welcomes back Jim Forsythe to the show. Jim explains the purpose of "Citizens for Sound Money". Jim discusses some of the history and the gradual disconnect from sound money during the last century. A gold-backed currency places massive constraints on government spending and forces them to spend within their means. The lack of sound money is a primary cause of much of the world's problems. As we print dollars many of them move overseas and by that mechanism, we export our inflation to other countries. That is slowly changing as other countries utilize their currencies to buy commodities between countries. There has been a steady policy of de-dollarization by other nations for some time. Jim discusses the problems with the approach taken towards Russia and why the military-industrial complex has unfortunately continued to treat them as an enemy. This is not a black-and-white conflict. Western politicians are heavily invested in Ukrainian politics. We see this spilling over into virtue-signaling which is creating further division. State-level governments are generally more representative of their population's interests. New Hampshire is a good example of this because of the number of representatives. This makes it harder for outsiders to lobby that many politicians and those elected are more known at a local level. He explains the importance of asset-backed digital currencies. These are backed by physical metals and it's important these have redemption policies and audits. Many of the founders of the United States wanted what amounts to a decentralized system of finance. It encouraged competition and helped keep things honest. Today leverage ratios are completely blown out and we have a lot of dishonesty in the system. Tom welcomes a new guest Jim Forsythe to the show. Jim discusses visiting Russia in the mid-80s and working in the Air Force as a KC 135 pilot and later an instructor. In part, these experiences led him to campaign for Ron Paul in 2008, and he became a New Hampshire State Senator from 2010-2012. Learning from Ron Paul helped him understand the economic system that the world is under, and "The bigger problems facing the U.S. that are internal." He has been a firm gold and silver believer since 2007, investing in both miners and physical. He says, "People need to make their own choice to have gold and silver as money." He believes many politicians do understand how the system works and take full advantage of this understanding. There is bipartisan support for maintaining the status quo. We are in a 100-year sovereign debt supercycle, and the bond market has been in a bull market for forty years. Whenever there is a hint of recession, they lower rates, and now we've hit the zero level, which he believes is a tipping point. They can no longer claim that they can raise rates and normalize, and most investors now understand this fact. They will try yield curve control next, which means retirees and pensions will get wiped out. Gold and silver don't receive much yield, but you will see a stampede coming because the alternative to gold is negative yields. Gold is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. He argues that gold and silver volatility is unnatural and serves to keep investors out of the markets. Jim explains the dynamics of silver in both its industrial and investment demand. The price suppression has increased the potential upside and provided a lot of buying opportunities. Silver is a small sector, and just a little attention from the WallStreetBets crowd has caused physical supply issues. Silver is far more undervalued than gold, and for that reason, there is more upside potential. Jim outlines the differences between SLV and PSLV and what you should consider when investing in an ETF. In any investment, you need to trust the counterparty, and there is room for doubt with SLV. Lastly, Jim discusses a possible future for digital currencies. I went to visit Ruth in the hospital. She is 97 years old! I heard about her when I moved to Washington DC about ten (10) months ago. In these parts she is very well-respected and loved. I prayed and asked the Lord to please let me interview her before she passed away. The Lord granted that prayer on Friday. See Ruth's Bio: Ruth Mizell served as Campaign Chair in Corpus Christi, Texas, for George H. W. Bush for two of his campaigns, beginning in 1964 for the US Senate and later as Campaign Chair for Corpus Christi, Texas, when he ran for president in 1980. She also served in 1978 and 1982 for Bill Clements, the first Republican governor of Texas. In 1984 she served as co-chair for Phil Gramm for US Senate. Ruth also served under President Ronald Reagan and President George H. W. Bush as adviser to the US Peace Corps. During those years, she served as liaison to the White House for the American Christian Trust, served on the Board of Directors of the National Prayer Embassy, and was active in several Christian ministries. This included AD 2000, Every Home for Christ, Joni and Friends, and Nora Lam Ministries. In 1994 she became active in Capitol Hill Prayer Partners and became their liaison to the Capitol. In 2004 she began representing the National Council on Bible Curriculum in Public Schools (NCBCPS) and became a member of the board in 2005. Ruth has been on mission trips throughout the world, including Africa, Eastern and Western Europe, China, Southeast Asia, South America, and Israel. Her late husband was former baseball player Wilmer “Vinegar Bend” Mizell. He pitched in the 1960 World Series for the Pittsburgh Pirates when they beat the New York Yankees. Later he served as Congressman for North Carolina.

We have all attended some fundraising event for charity before in our past.  But have you ever really stopped to think about what those fundraising events were able to accomplish?  Here is a little bit about the good causes behind fundraising. Currently the Director of Development & Organizational Advancement at Cornerstone Montgomery, Heidi is a career development professional who brings an extensive network of contacts and wealth of knowledge about fundraising, non-profits, and board engagement. Previously at the National Center for Children and Families (NCCF), Heidi led a successful $7.2 million capital campaign, grew the donor database by an average of 30% a year for over 5 years. Charities LIKE NCCF thrive under Ms. Webb’s leadership advice and coaching, which ultimately results in strong, effective, and collaborative development departments. In addition to her work, Ms. Webb volunteers extensively. She is a Rotarian, and has served on benefit committees for multi-million dollar fundraising events for American Cancer Society, Duke Ellington School for the Arts, and the Larry King Cardiac Foundation. Heidi served as Campaign Chair for a State Legislator. In that role she authored and signed into law, a teen suicide prevention bill for the State of Maryland in 2005.
