Also, bestellt. Zack, erhalten... und getestet... Da sind sie endlich, die Echo Buds 2. Gen! / Bild-/Quelle: privat 16. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/elgordocircuito/message

Todd Ogasawara and Jon Westfall discuss what they learned about Windows 11 from last week's announcement. In particular: With Teams being built-in, will Skype go away like its Skype for Business (formerly Lync) counterpart - which EOL's next month (July 2021)? They also discuss Todd's Amazon Echo Buds purchase on Prime Day. Is it worth even the discounted price of $70?
Apple's release of the AirPods in 2016 has transformed the wireless headphone industry. The earbuds have enjoyed widespread success with over $12 billion in revenue (which is nearly equal to the revenue of Spotify, Twitter, Snap, and Shopify combined), and its integrated Siri capabilities for announcing message notifications, replying to messages, volume control, and playing music have set the stage for voice-enabled smart hearables. In just the last month, Amazon dropped the new Echo Buds, and Google debuted the Pixel Buds A-Series — pushing the boundaries of potential for what the assistants in our ears can do. Wayfinding has emerged as a viable use case, illustrated by Amazon's demo of Echo Buds providing product location in a Whole Foods, and Foursquare's Marsbot for AirPods offering “guided” audio tours. Additionally, companies are honing in on the fitness craze with fitness tracking features. With 43.7 million users tapping into the voice assistants in their hearables, these devices are only going to expand their capabilities. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/rainagency/message

Double Jab, sorry, I mean Double Tap Canada returns with another look at all that's new in the world of tech. We take a look at an interesting new TV show from Apple that focuses on audio rather than visuals. Calls, which is available on Apple TV+ has nothing on screen other than visualizations of the phone calls you are listening in on. Obviously, this is a concept that we as visually impaired people are used to but just how will this show be received by mainstream sighted users? Also, Disney Plus has announced that they will be releasing more theatrical movies to their streaming service. Available at an additional cost over the monthly subscription, is this in fact the best way to enjoy the latest movies? And why does Shaun hate cinemas so much? In other news, we have a new start-up called Framework who promise an easily upgradable, easily repairable laptop. Need more USB ports? Simply pull out the old ones and plug in the new. Cracked the screen? Simply unclip the broken one and pop in a new one. There's no denying it sounds great, but this has been tried before and never taken off. Could this be different? There's also a new smart watch from One Plus One with amazing battery life, rumors of a brand new HomePod with a screen, a possible replacement for Android called Google Fuchsia and most shocking of all, the news that Shaun has actually bought some tech! He'll be giving you his impressions of the Amazon Echo Buds.
Due to a sale at Amazon, a podcast for you.
To-date the voice assistant landscape has primarily been driven by smart speakers and mobile assistants, but new devices are quickly taking hold. Brands have always sought to connect with customers on-the-go, and assistant technologies are now enabling a new way to provide value in their everyday lives. Smart hearables and wearables, including earbuds, watches and even glasses have all been embedded with Alexa and Google Assistant so that customers can easily ask for information and perform tasks anytime, anywhere. The most recent example of this is Amazon's new Echo Buds feature focused on collecting fitness data (more below). However, this trend has been maturing for some time now. Recently, Fitbit added Google Assistant to its Sense and Versa watches that are already integrated with Alexa, providing a choice in assistant for users. For hearables, Foursquare's new Marsbot for AirPods assistant serves as a personal audio guide as people stroll through a public space, and Amazon has piloted a wayfinding feature for Echo Buds to provide product and location information within a Whole Foods store. As these ‘headless' devices free us from the ties of a cord or our home devices, on-the-go voice experiences are innovating brand marketing. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/rainagency/message

Amazon's annual fall hardware event unveils its latest collection of smart products. In 2019, the newest Echo smart speakers along with Echo Buds, Echo Frames, Echo Loop, Alexa Smart Oven, and more made their first appearances to the public, inching toward an integrated Alexa-enabled ecosystem. Last week's annual hardware event advanced this vision even further. The arrival of revamped smart speakers, smart security appliances for the home and car, a cloud gaming program, and assistants customized for children and the elderly is a progression in the company's “ambient home” strategy, also supported by Project Connected Home over IP and its Interoperability Initiative. But as updated features and new security products are introduced, many remain concerned over just how far Amazon is willing to go to be ingrained in our lives. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/rainagency/message

What are hearables? They are wireless earbuds and headphones that provide always-available voice assistant access. Think AirPods, Pixel Buds, Echo Buds, Galaxy buds. At home, you have an always-listening smart speaker but on the go having that just in your phone is a bit limiting. Connecting the voice assistant from a smartphone to your ears creates a more efficient and private interaction. Today we talk about the technology underlying hearables and why we aren't getting 12-hour, all-day battery life. We also discuss applications, consumer adoption, and how the big players intend to compete. 2020 is going to see a lot more hearables action driven by new apps and new products such as AirPods Pro and Amazon Echo Buds. Dave Kemp works for Oaktree products, the leading U.S. distributor of hearing aids and an expert in the hearables space ranging from prescription solutions to consumer products such as AirPods. He is also a contributor to Voicebot.ai on hearables topics and has his own regular podcast and blog called Future Ear. Also, with us is Andy Bellavia. He has a long tenure in the sound and hearing market with past work for consumer hearables innovator Bragi, hearing aid tech company Nuheara and currently as a BD lead for Knowles Corp. — a company that has components in the new Amazon Echo Buds.

Though it was not the first, Apple's headstart in the wireless earbud space may be too far, even for Amazon. However, characteristically undeterred, the megabrand jumps in with its Echo Buds, to join Apple and others looking to latch into our ears. Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022.
