Het nieuws bleef een beetje onder de radar, maar De Volkskrant publiceerde afgelopen weekend een opzienbarend verhaal over het al eerder in opspraak geraakte Spoorloos. Bij die tv-klassieker werden simpele feiten niet gecheckt en elementaire controlevragen niet gesteld, blijkt uit onderzoek van het dagblad naar mismatches tussen geadopteerden en biologische families. In het artikel vertellen vijf geadopteerden hoe dit hun leven overhoop haalde. Kan Spoorloos na deze onthulling nog wel voortbestaan? Angela de Jong is heel duidelijk: ‘Na de laatste schokkende onthullingen in de Volkskrant is er maar één conclusie mogelijk en dat is kappen met Spoorloos!' Verder aandacht voor de zaak rond Ali B. die afgelopen week een nieuwe wending kreeg door de toevoeging van een 'media-advocaat' in de persoon van Natacha Harlequin is. Harry Kappen is a Dutch musician and musictherapist. His first love is the guitar, but gradually he discovered the bass. Now you can safely call him a multi-instrumentalist. His work as a music therapist requires him to be able to play a variety of instruments, including voice, in order to connect with his clients in different ways. This is necessary both in the treatment of individual clients and in system therapy (for example, in dysfunctional families). On his latest album 'Escape' and seperate single 'Wargames' he sings and plays every instrument himself in combination with the use of digital sounds from Logic Pro. Harry played in many bands in the Netherlands and throughout Europe. He composed his first song when he was 10 years old. He played with his sister Hanneke in Kapsonic and released an album with her about 6 years ago, called 'Kapsonic'. Harry is an admirer of David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Prince, Radiohead, Scandinavian pop music by Björk and Motorpsycho. Sometimes their music reflects in Harry's eclectic music. In spring '22 he self-released an album called 'Escape'. 'Barefoot in the dew' was the only single from this album so far. The Escape album is a concept album. With songs about escaping reality, escaping violence, even life, escaping into love, dreams or art. It became a personal journey with personal lyrics. Then in the spring Russia attacked Ukraine and the atmosphere in Europe changed completely. During the summer, Harry realized that there were no protest songs in the Dutch charts. In general you could say that musicians do not speak out against abuses and threats, while there is reason enough to protest, you would think. (Ukrainian war, climate change, fake news, ignorance, etc). How different it was in the 60s and 70s during the Vietnam War. So Harry made a new song and released it a few weeks ago. Hence 'Wargames'. There is no set timeline to grieving the loss of a child – for Amy and her family, accessing the right resources to support them during this period was challenging. In memory of Sophia, the now Foundation supports a community of families grieving the loss of a child, providing services and resources with the goal to help families regain joyful moments in their lives. Gary Kappen says “only in America” could his story exist. And when you hear how his personal story and business evolved, you'll be thinking more specifically, “only in Texas.”Today Kappen owns, operates and serves as president of a company he founded in 2008 - William Grant Tank & Vessel, Inc. in Henderson. It's a company that has grown and turned a profit every year since it began (save the 2020 with its unprecedented circumstances). Kappen shares how far he's come. Not long out of high school in the early 1980s, he suddenly found himself without a plan after scrapping his initial path to follow his father and grandfather into the restaurant business. Technically born in Shreveport, Kappen's family's address at that time was in Texas, so he's always happily claimed it. The family initially had a restaurant, which they sold to a company that ultimately moved his father and family to Wichita, Kansas, and then Louisville, Kentucky. Kappen was 13 when his dad took a job with Kettle Restaurants and announced to the family they were moving - so appropriate for this podcast - back to Texas. Kappen recalls the excitement, and not just because dad informed him their beloved Dallas Cowboys would be on TV every week here.“Just that word: Texas,” Kappen says. “You know you are moving to a very exciting place.”In this episode, learn how that move was the first in a series of events that brought him right where he needed to be.
