If you listen for more than a few minutes, you know the Barrel and Flow Festival is pretty much an annual pilgrimage for hosts Nigel and Nick. But this year, the dynamic duo of drinking wanted to upsize the KC representation at the best damn beer festival in America. Eight friends of the show decided to pile into three cars for an epic road trip and chance to see for themselves what Nigel and Nick were always talking about. In this episode, Zach, Caesar, Phil, Krissie and Matt stop by The Vault to offer their reactions and summary of the trip.

Antti X Antti vietti jälleen kerran upeaa aikaa Suvilahdessa Flow Festivalin pyörteissä. Näimme MONTA keikkaa, joista keskustelimme pitkään ja innostuneesti.
Flow Festival, celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2024, has grown into a significant European music and arts festival that gathers 90,000 visitors to Helsinki. The festival is known for its long-standing sustainability work and strives to develop data-driven solutions to reduce its environmental burden. In this episode, we explore how Flow Festival's responsibility efforts have developed over the years, what role digital solutions play in them, and what other event organizers can learn from Flow's pioneering work. Joining us are Vilja Grotenfelt, Head of Sales and Marketing at Flow Festival, and Juha Kurppa, Head of Growth Enablement at Tietoevry Create.
If the Luxembourgish electro-pop duo ‘The X' were a character in a cyberpunk movie, you'd find them amidst the smoky haze of a late-night after-hour club, dancing their way through a world both euphoric and melancholic. Their first EP, ‘Some Beautiful Things Come from Dark Places' was released in June 2023, and seamlessly blends futuristic sounds with nostalgic within their trip-pop domain. Taking stages at events like Francofolies, Fêtes de la Musique in Luxembourg City and Echternach, Bieder Open Air, and Flow Festival, the duo doesn't just perform; they beckon audiences into an experiential voyage. Now, on the precipice of their next sonic chapter, The X is poised to release their second EP, ‘The World Is Burning, Let's Dance', on April 13th, 2024, at Kulturfabrik Esch. This forthcoming instalment promises a musical evolution –a weightier, more intense, socio-critical tone, while retaining its inherent danceable essence. Prepare for an immersive dive into a world where music catalyses change, amplifies expression, and beckons you to dance amidst societal upheavals. The X invites you to experience their sonic revolution. The World Is Burning, Let's Dance' is set for release on April 22nd , 2024, and listeners can experience a taste with our exclusive premiere of the track, ‘Freak'. https://www.gbhbl.com/exclusive-gbhbl-premiere-luxembourgish-electro-punks-the-x-video-for-freak/ We also spoke to the duo, talking about the journey to this point, being free to do what they want, but also getting comfortable with that mindset. We also spoke about what being busy in The X looks like, how they marry the visual side of the band with the sonic side, and so much more. The Barrel and Flow Festival was everything that we expected and more. This was our third trip to Pittsburgh for the festival. Furthermore, they definitely showed why they are our favorite craft beer festival and the number one craft beer festival in the country. First, we were able to speak to several different people at the festival from brewers to people providing services like mental health. Secondly, and most important, we had a bunch of great beer. The beer for the show is the Adjunct Machine Stout by Barrel Culture Brewing. It is an 11.75% cloud of sweet chocolate and malted milk balls. It's the perfect receptacle and instrument for all the adjunct flavorings you could hope for. Also, they recirculated the beer over wild Thai banana, roasted peanuts, toasted coconut, and marshmallows. Beer Is Fundamental is dedicated to all of you who love craft beer. Furthermore, here at Beer Is Fundamental, we take craft beer seriously. However, we never lose sight of the fact that craft beer is supposed to be fun. That's why we love it. At Beer Is Fundamental, we are beer enthusiasts who like to drink, talk about and search for great craft beer. We like to call our time here as being in the NeighBEERhood. Antti X Antti -podcastin 162. jaksossa keskustellaan Kuusamossa järjestetystä tapahtumasta Epäjohdonmukaisten tanssiaiset, jotka kärsivät suurista tuotanto-ongelmista festivaalin alusta saakka tapahtuman ennenaikaiseen loppuun asti. Dig it!

Life is good, front and back. We have been very busy enjoying life and drinking some great craft beer. In this episode, we are sipping on the one and only, Pliny the Elder Double IPA by Russian River Brewing Company. It is the epitome of what an IPA should be. We love to travel especially to music festivals and beer festivals. We just got back from the Blue Note Jazz Festival in Napa, California put on by Robert Glasper and hosted by Dave Chappell. We had an awesome time. We will be headed to Pittsburgh for our annual trip to the Barrel and Flow Festival. Plus, anything else that comes to our mind. CHEERS! This week Brewery Travels the Steel City, Pittsburgh, PA! On with Joel this week: Bob Batz Jr., writer and editor for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette who has covered the craft beer scene since its early days, and Kenny Gould, founder of Hop Culture Magazine and who is now Director of Strategic Sales at Untapped. They discuss a variety of topics, including the history of craft beer in the city, Pittsburgh Brewing Company's resurgence, Barrel & Flow Festival, and much more! Joel has visited over 900 breweries across 44 states plus Washington D.C. and has been able to make connections with many amazing individuals because of his travels. He is currently living on the road with his family, constantly “exploring more content and doing extensive research” (which just means visiting breweries and drinking beer)! The goal of Brewery Travels is to provide more information about craft beer scenes from around the country and shine a light on some of the excellent individual breweries that call these cities home. From Portland, Maine to San Diego, California. Austin, Texas to Duluth, Minnesota. The bright lights of New York City to the farmland of rural Iowa. Brewery Travels plans to run the gauntlet of locations, providing in-depth information on as many places as possible. With episodes coming out weekly on Thursdays, Brewery Travels is where you can get your fix if you enjoy a craft beer or traveling. Cheers! DRINK LOCAL EVERYWHERE! Day Bracey wants to empower the Black community through the beer industry. This is a year-round goal and the podcaster, comedian, and festival organizer does that every day all day. But next week in Pittsburgh he is hosting the Barrel and Flow Festival and will be able to put the goal front and center. It's the continuation of the Fresh Fest, which he founded with business partner and podcast co-host Ed Bailey and rebranded for a new year after some issues with the name and a chance in another business relationship. There is a lot of talk about diversity in the craft beer space. But talk is just that. Action is what is needed. After countless brewery visits and conversations Day has a pretty good idea on what needs to be done to bring meaningful change to the space. On this episode of "Drink Beer, Think Beer" he'll share his thoughts on the subject and the industry and he also talks about how the festival is coming together how it aims to create a welcoming space – something that some other festivals don't always offer. This was recorded over zoom, and there were a few weak signal moments. Don't adjust your dial. This Episode is sponsored by:NZ HopsNZ Hops, the co-operative of Master Hop Growers are a passionate collective of farms dedicated to innovation and sustainability. Joensuu 1685 - "Light in the Heart of Our Town" from the 2020 album ÖB on Gems Records. Formed in 2007 in Helsinki, Finland, Joensuu 1685 — a project of brothers Markus and Mikko Joensuu and non-related bassist Risto Joensuu — have been dormant for over a decade, but a 2018 reunion performance at the Flow Festival ignited the spark for them to complete an unfinished album. Today's featured track was inspired by "an image of a dying town," Mikko explained. “About a person in front of a gas station right at the edge of town, seeing the town and seeing oneself, what was, what is and what will be. It’s an image of the hope that runs deep in our bones…” The long-awaited sophomore release, titled ÖB, will be released October 9th via Gems Records. Read the full post on KEXP.org Support the show.
In this episode, up and coming R&B artist CD (@play.cd) joins us in the studio! You may have seen her performing around Melbourne at open-mic gigs like Let's Vibe. In August 2019, she independently released her first single 'Thank God For Frank Ocean' to positive reception. The song highlights CD's talents as a vocalist and pianist, with features from other talented instrumentalists Sam Cox and Nikodimos, and visual production by Shady Trees. Recently, she performed as a supporting vocalist for Agung Mango at Laneway Festival and Flow Festival. We talked about all things personal: growing up in the western suburbs, musical influences, working with other women, and our thoughts on the current Melbourne 'creative' scene. Join us as we run into some technical (and health) difficulties, and share a whole lotta laughs! (Other mentions: Gaz, Eleftherios, ZK King, Milan Ring, Frank Ocean, Hansika. Recorded, edited and mixed by Sarah. Beat by @officialjaydot. Cover art by @halfcastgoon.)

Jay and Chuck P are at the Tin Roof Brewing Company Taproom talking with Amy Mitchell Smith about the upcoming Ebb & Flow Music Festival happening in downtown Baton Rouge on April 7th & 8th.

Next on the series, we are proud to welcome one of the Finnish techno stalwarts, SAMULI KEMPPI. He is behind the acclaimed Deep Space Helsinki radio show as well as the label, under the same name, both run and co-founded alongside Juho Kusti. For the past decade, Samuli has been releasing his take of top-notch, icy, minimalesque techno across many of the best labels (Mote, Perc, M_Rec, Komisch, Balans). For us, he contributed the entire hour of 100% hardware techno performed live at Flow Festival in Helsinki last month. The set is full of fresh material and at 132 beats-per-minute, it twists and turns pushing through layers of trippy, rhythmic techno… all arranged live. As he called it himself – "132 bpm voodoo techno." Ladies and gentlemen, this is Samuli Kemppi Live. Enjoy! www.facebook.com/samulikemppi www.residentadvisor.net/dj/samulikemppi www.discogs.com/artist/326934-Samuli-Kemppi www.deepspacehelsinki.bandcamp.com www.facebook.com/deepspacehelsinki - Erratic is comprised of a small team of passionate curators hosting proper Techno parties in New York City. www.ErraticNYC.com | www.fb.com/ErraticNYC
