EPISODE 276 - Clark, Hyung and John talk about the MLB Tokyo Series to kick off Opening Day of the regular season. More specifically, they discuss the Topps X Murakami collaboration with a couple of baseball card sets released and whether it'll be a hit or if it's all hype and bound to die down like the Topps Project2020 set (where it also included artists' work incorporated into the design of the baseball cards.)Then for Hobby Headlines, the guys take a deeper look into the gemrate.com grading card data for February and what kind of trends are emerging already for 2025. Some questions that are addressed include whether it's over for Beckett or if SGC is the most likely to fold in the future.Clark then hosts another round of Quiz Show for Hyung and John before they close the episode with the regular weekly segment called Pick 1.--------------------------CONNECT WITH US!Instagram: @cardstothemoon | @fivecardguys (Clark) | @yntegritysportscards (Hyung) | @tradeyouatrecess (John)Website: https://fivecardguys.com/podcastDaily Auctions (w/ affiliate links): https://fivecardguys.com/dailyauctionsIf you have any questions about the hobby that you would like addressed, email us at hello@fivecardguys.com or DM us on Instagram at @cardstothemoon or @fivecardguys.

First episode of Season 3! Episode 101 was cross streamed live on Neo Cards & Comics's Youtube channel and I still cannot believe that we went almost a full three hours on stream. We started talking about the 2024 Year in Grading with Ryan from GemRate, but then the three of us started going down some interesting Hobby rabbit holes, talking about Pokemon/TCG, incentives for content creators making certain types of content, gambling in the hobby, whether PSA could start grading sealed hobby boxes, the future of Beckett, and so, so much more. I even kept in the audio at the end of the stream past the end of the podcast where we talk about grading comics. One of my most fun podcasts to record, easily the longest, please enjoy this in piecemeal or however you like to enjoy long form content!
Our first episode of Season 7! And the last episode (for now) with co-host Troy Rutter. Clemente Lisi joins us in Clemente's World to talk about the new sets to look forward to in 2025. And we hear the Big 3 from Ryan Stuczynski with Gemrate's 2024 year review.

In this podcast episode, Ryan from GemRate drops by to talk about the state of grading with Victor Wembanyama cards. He shares his knowledge of the data around Wemby's most graded cards, such as which cards of his have the highest (and lowest) gem rate, and then we talk about the now-infamous 2023-24 Panini Crown Royale Kaboom insert set and how there is literally just one Gem Mint PSA 10 (coincidentally, of Victor Wembanyama) out of the hundreds of the graded cards currently out there in the card market across the entire player checklist. EPISODE 180 - Clark and John open the show by reacting to Collectors CEO Nat Turner's recent social media post about 2,000+ Michael Jordan 1986 Fleer rookie cards being submitted to PSA with 21% having been deemed fake. Will that have any impact on the overall value of this iconic basketball card moving forward with (a) the number of submissions each year, and (b) potential fakes slipping through the grading system? Then for Hobby Headlines, the guys explore the new Iconic Tracker tool by gemrate.com, which keeps track of how many of the top 100 sports cards are submitted to the major grading companies on a monthly basis. They go over eight such cards to see if they're surprised by the number of submissions as well as if there are anything to be learned from the data. This is Part III of my chat with Ryan Stuczynski from GemRate (@gemrate on Instagram and gemrate.com). In this part of the chat, we just get silly with questions from Instagram. But first, I botch a Formula 1 analogy on the different tiers of grading companies, because like many people, I suddenly feel like an expert about F1 after watching Netflix's Drive to Survive. We also talk about crossover grading and should heads and running over slabs with cars. YouTube link here: https://youtu.be/o11nqaRbZNw
This is Part II of my chat with Ryan Stuczynski from GemRate (@gemrate on Instagram and gemrate.com). In this part of the chat, we talk about declared value, why that is a thing and why are we ok that this flawed process is a burden we as consumers are ok bearing. We share our zany self-admitted conspiracy theories with the way we approached our personal submissions based on absolutely nothing. We then get to questions from YOU! So many great questions received from Instagram with a myriad of topics within the grading industry space. Is artificial intelligence grading the inevitable future of the grading space? How long does it take for grading companies to be profitable? How much does it cost (both in materials and labor) to grade a card? YouTube link here: https://youtu.be/bMgY1m_aQ3k
Ryan Stuczynski from GemRate (@gemrate on Instagram and gemrate.com) is a self professed data junkie who was first a Cleveland sports team collector submitting cards for grading and wanted to learn ore about the grading space. So he used his finance and data analytics background to turn his love of The Hobby into a full time job. He now provides pop report information on four major grading companies on a monthly basis. This is Part I where we talk about what GemRate is, how this information is free to the consumer, and why and how Ryan's monthly reports focus on the four major grading companies. Ryan also reports that in July 2023, more than half of the cards submitted for grading to PSA (over 500K cards total!) were just from Pokemon cards! A pop report is a published census showing the total number of cards graded by a third-party grading company. For any given card in any given grade (e.g. Mint 10), there will be a published pop report showing how many times the grading service has awarded that exact grade to that exact card. Ryan couldn't wait to get into the studio this week to break down what transpired in Nashville on Saturday, as HIS Bengals took down the TyTans on a walk-off Evan McPherson 54 yard field goal.As if that game wasn't enough, the rest of the weekend was absolutely bonkers, with the 49ers knocking off Aaron Rodgers and the Packers at Lambeau, Tom Brady and the Bucs losing to the Rams at home, and then in possibly the best football game of all-time, the Chiefs took care of Josh Allen and the Bills (after a terrible tails call by Josh Allen on the overtime coin flip - shoutout Lou for the insight.)The boys break it ALL down, as well as some interesting stats from our friends at GemRate on the current number of cards being graded by the major grading company.
