The foiled second assassination attempt on Donald Trump wasn't uniformly treated as a serious security problem. We found major networks blaming Trump's hot talk on migrants and pets for his own assassins. They blamed him for not toning rhetoric down -- the flagrantly hostile networks! Curtis Houck explains how Sunday unfolded.
Donald Trump was shot in the ear on Saturday night, and the networks tried to be calm. But a spin did emerge. Republicans can't blame Democrats for inspiring violence based on all their talk of Trump being Hitler, Stalin, Mao, the Covid killer, or any of that rhetoric. That's quite a flip from what they've done to Republicans in the past.
Hillary Clinton was the big guest Thursday on MSNBC's Morning Joe, and unloaded all the "Trump is Hitler" talk (goaded by Joe) and the hypocritical notes on Trump squashing stories about alleged sexual escapades.
Happy New Year, DFLers (and GOP operatives)! On this week's episode, we tune into "Hot Talk w/ the Ox" and get his semi-graphic take on Tom Emmer bending the knee to Donald Trump. The gang also discusses Darwin's rumored Ivermectin ingestion, and Madison is officially declared "Maven of the Manatee."We are also encouraging all of our wonderful listeners to send in their own "You Betcha-Oh Geez" that we will read in the next episode. You can send them to podcast@dfl.org, looking forward to hearing them!

Dr. LaTasha Russell Harris is a native of Ann Arbor, Michigan. She received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in Berkeley, California, twelve years after graduating from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. Immediately after receiving her Bachelor's degree in Spanish and Pre-medicine, Dr. Tasha relocated to Houston, Texas where she was a 5th grade Math teacher and 7th grade Spanish teacher at the original KIPP Academy. Then, ironically at the age of 24 years old, she became an elementary school principal. However, soon after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, Dr. Tasha was asked to contract for FEMA on the disaster relief team and four years later, in 2009, she found herself on the West Coast in graduate school. Today, she is the President of The Association of Black Psychologists, South Florida Chapter. She has provided therapeutic sessions in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Chicago, Virginia, Washington D.C., Singapore, Japan and in South Florida where she now resides. She has worked in hospitals, drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities, battered women's shelters, lock-down detention centers, and community mental health agencies. She has proven herself to work effectively with individuals that people judge, such as prostitutes, pastors, and the police. She was also an Adjunct Professor at the South Florida Bible College and Theological Seminary, where she taught clergymen and women about Mental Health First Aid. As a Social Scientist, several corporations have also endorsed her as a Racial Justice Consultant because she is able to create teachable moments with anyone who is hungry to learn and ready to fumble through their own illiteracy. In her Private Practice, Dr. Tasha is a Relationship Coach for professional athletes and their significant others. She is also a recent author of a Couples Workbook, entitled “It Ain't the Dishes.” If you would like to see her in action, Dr. Tasha has a Live Talk Show with a Stand-up Comedian. This is the only talk show where the guests are selected right out of the audience. In addition, Dr. Tasha has created a Speed Dating Events to help progressive singles date with more integrity and authenticity. Dr. Tasha used to have a live radio show every Saturday at midnight on WAVS 1170 am and has appeared monthly with a panel of experts on Hot Talk with Jill Tracey on Miami's Hottest Radio Station, Hot 105 FM. With her sharp shooting style and her voice of accountability, Dr. Tasha has helped to dispel the myths of talking to a professional about what goes on behind closed doors. The Miami Herald recognized her as one of the Top 40 Leaders under 40 in 2018. As seen on CBS4 Miami, Dr. Tasha specializes in getting to the core of an issue quickly, which she calls “Drive-by Therapy.” You can reach her on social media @doctoratasha or on her website: drivebytherapy.org --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/dreamsbyanymeans/message

Hoplark with Hot Talk on Hop Tea and Hop Water You know we love our beer, but we do dabble in alternative beverages. This week we're getting all fancy and sipping tea... with plenty of hops. Hoplark co-founder Dean Eberhardt joins us on the show this week to talk about his Hop Tea and Hop Water. We learn what got the ball rolling on Hoplark, and we get educated on the many varieties of teas. We ask Dean for some pairing suggestions for his hop teas, but he tries to get us to exercise and tells us the pair great with a long bike ride. That may be, but I'm gonna try mine with some wings, Dean. Seriously, though. These teas and waters are pretty tasty and give you another choice if you want something crafty and hoppy but can't (or don't want to) have alcohol. Take one into the next meeting with your boss and sip it while he goes over those quarterly reports. It will make it so much better. Since there's no alcohol you can get Hoplark direct from their website at www.hoplark.com. They're also available in whole foods, with future plans to get distribution at bottle shops. Check 'em out. Their core varieties are: The Citra Bomb | White Tea double dry-hopped with Citra The Really Hoppy One | Black Tea with Simcoe and Citra (this is the one for IPA fans) The Green Tea One | Green tea and Mosaic The White Tea One | White Tea with Lemondrop and Simcoe (lighter, Tim dug this one) We also tried the Sabro and Mosaic Hop Waters and those are pretty dope.

Today my guest is a man I owe a lot to -- a man who's gotten bigger in my mind as time has gone on -- my former boss -- Floyd Brown. Floyd Brown has worked for the last thirty five years in politics and media. Time magazine wrote: “Brown has a stature among devoted conservatives that almost matches his physical heft (6 ft. 6 in. and 240 lbs.)”. Floyd is the publisher of The Western Journal. Since its founding in 2014, The Western Journal has grown to become one of America's 50 largest digital media companies. According to the analytics firm Newswhip, WesternJournal.com is one of the most popular websites on social media. He is the author of five books including the 1992 bestseller, Slick Willie, Why America Cannot Trust Bill Clinton. His latest book is the recently published Big Tech Tyrants. From 2001 until 2006, he supervised the preservation of Rancho del Cielo, Ronald Reagan's Ranch. He supervised the construction of the 25 million-dollar Reagan Ranch Center in downtown Santa Barbara, California. From 1995 to 2001, Floyd was a host on Hot Talk 570 KVI in Seattle, Washington. He has appeared on many TV shows including: FOXNEWS' Tucker Carlson Show, the CBS Evening News, ABC's Primetime, NBC's Today Show, CNN, CNBC and more. Beginning in 1988 until 2001, Floyd was the founding president of Citizens United. Floyd started his career in President Reagan's campaigns and as a political appointee in Reagan's administration. Things that struck me about this interview: 1. Floyd turned 40 right around the time I met him, when I was in my first job out of college. At the time, I felt like Floyd was a huge success and the image of confidence. Floyd dispels that idea -- and tells me what he was really feeling inside at the time. 2. How productive your years between 40 and 60 are. "When you hit your 40s, your most productive days are still ahead of you." 3. His changed view of success. How he used to think success was about money and possessions and now he understands it's about people and relationships. 4. God uses humble people, not arrogant people. Floyd was arrogant, and needed to be humbled. 5. Floyd made his money when he wasn't focused on money. "Money finally came when I wasn't thinking about the money anymore." It was when Floyd started to think about service and people instead of being focused on himself.

Also, speaking of friends, from he Simpsons, the author of the new behind the scenes book about The Simpsons, Springfield Confidential, Mr. Mike Reiss is here. http://DanaGould.com
Are you a Millennial or parent of a Millennial? In today's show we talk, personal growth, with the author of the Millennial's Playbook to Adulting, Ms Arika Pierce Show Transcript: Today what we want to focus on is giving Millennial's some clarity on, personal growth, and development. We both know that learning should not stop when you leave school. What advice would you give Millennials to keep growing? Millennials are in the growth stage of life, what advice would you give them? I know in your book you touch on quite a few, let me count them one two three four you know you've got a bit of a ten tips. We don't have time to talk about all the ten, but pick some of the top ones and share how you would advise Millennials to keep growing. I think especially after you get out of school and Millennials, are sort of over trying to learn from textbooks, people are just exhausted from that textbook and learning from your professors and things like that; but I do encourage Millennials to become students of life. By that I mean opening your eyes to all the things that you can learn from different people, new experiences just being open to continuing to stretch your horizon and to be multifaceted and to be just a well-rounded person. In my book, for example, I suggest things such as reading biographies about people that you're curious about or maybe who you want to know. Learn more about their path. I also believe that you should do things like watch documentaries on Netflix about different types of topics that you might be interested in or just want to know more about. I also think listening to podcast that's huge for me and so that's why I love your podcast. I listen to podcast really throughout my day on various types of topics, it could be something around expanding your mindset, it could be something around the news, it could be anything. There's so much out there that you can really stretch your mind and learn. Going to different types of events. I always tell people if you get invited, go to something and especially if it's something that you probably would be interested in doing. Go to the Opera, go to a hockey game even though you don't know what's going on, go to a book talk, go to a wine tasting, whatever it is just expand your horizon. Learning does not stop once you walk across the stage. You should always every day be learning more about yourself, about life, about other people, just always be curious and be a student of the world and of life. Awesome, that's some good advice I love the podcast one because that's a big one. I actually showed my mom just yesterday how to put podcasts on her phone. That's the space that we're in right now. I will tell you I started listening to podcast just to learn what some of the successful podcasters are doing. If there's something you want to learn, you go to an event, you go to book signing. That's why people write books. You can take ten years to learn something or you can take ten minutes to read how someone else did it in a book, and that's the purpose of books. Because I want to learn how to be better at what I do, I start listening to podcast, you would not believe how my mind has been expanded. I subscribe to TuneIn radio, so that I can research how that works and what Hot Talk radio was all about. I happened to come across the Hay House World Summit podcast and you would not believe what I've been learning. I listen to podcasts every morning when I walk. I walk for an hour every day so I that's my learning time and I my eyes are wide open because this podcast have guest speakers all the top people in the spirituality and consciousness and health space. I try to bring good content on this show so that people can plug in and hear something inspiring and mindset shifting. This podcast is not all about shooting the breeze...
