Without outside investment, 16-year-old accessories brand Jenny Bird has become a go-to brand for celebrities including Hailey Bieber and Selena Gomez, as well as influencers and a growing community of everyday consumers. With its high-quality products, affordable price points and strategic retail partners, Jenny Bird has become an eight-figure global brand. In July 2022, the brand expanded into eyewear and, most recently, it forayed into hair accessories. According to the brand's namesake founder, Jeny Bird, growing slowly and intentionally has been key to the brand's success. She added that consumers can expect to see the brand expand into more jewelry categories soon. "Simplicity in a brand is key, and diversifying too quickly can be hurtful. I wanted to [first] become an expert in my category … and make those collections better," Bird told Glossy. "I love the idea of committing to excellence in one thing and being good at one thing -- that's what we've done for the past 16 years." On this week's episode of the Glossy Podcast, Jenny Bird discusses her company's category expansion strategy and her people-first, growth-second motto.
In this episode, Steph sits down with award-winning jewelry brand founder and designer, Jenny Bird. Jenny shares her journey of leaving her career in brand marketing in her 20s to becoming a creative entrepreneur, starting originally as a bag designer. After the 2008 recession, Jenny started the business over, with more knowledge and experience, into the hugely successful jewelry and lifestyle brand it is today. Throughout the episode, Jenny shares how the brand got into the hands of celebrities like Kylie Jenner and Jennifer Lopez, her best pieces of business advice, how she manages being a working mom, how important networking and putting yourself out there is to create new opportunities, and how Jenny leads the company with a commitment and focus to uplift women (with every sale). In this conversation, you'll quickly feel Jenny's openness, and authenticity about what it takes to build and lead a successful brand, her commitment to herself improvement (we talk about hormone health and pre-menopause) and how she see challenges in life as an opportunity to meet her more evolved self on the other side. Robert Stephenson no longer carries trinkets in his pockets. His need to wear crystals that represent his spirituality has lessened. This, he says, is because he has come to embody the meaning of those items in his very being. This shift has characterised an important period in Robert's life, in which he has departed from his role as director of Animas Centre for Coaching and launched his own coaching business, Fan the Flames Ltd.Robert talks about openly and honestly about why he left Animas and the impact this change has had on him, and he describes how he has truly stepped into his power since his first appearance on The Coach's Journey Podcast in July 2021. Back then, Animas provided a framework – or scaffolding – for Robert's work. So what happened when that scaffolding was no longer present? Our conversation explores Robert's transformation in depth, offering valuable lessons about how to manage change and how to grasp opportunities that arise when our circumstances change.Robert explains how he made decisions led by intuition, discovered through play, or inspired by dreams, as he took ownership of his future while embracing his "nowness". In this episode, we talk about:Recognising change in ourselvesWhat are the stabilisers we use in our lives? And can we take them off?Embracing endings and managing changeListening to our bodies and accessing our deeper knowledgeHow to move "from loss to legacy"Robert also talks about the courage it takes to remove the masks we wear in our lives and careers, and the new ways people relate to us when we show up as ourselves. To learn more about Robert, visit https://www.linkedin.com/in/robert-stephenson-2491a21/ or listen to his first appearance on the podcast https://www.thecoachsjourney.com/podcast/episode-27-robert-stephenson-animas-how-to-say-yes-and-become-a-conduit-for-change For information about my wider work, my writing or to buy my books, visit www.robbieswale.com.Music by My Good Man William: listen on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/4KmeQUcTbeE31uFynHQLQgTo support the Coach's Journey, visit www.patreon.com/thecoachsjourney and to join the Coach's Journey Community visit www.thecoachsjourney.com/community. Endometriosis // IVF & IUI // Natural Conception // Mindset What if it works? A question Canada's leading jewelry designer, Jenny Bird has been asking herself since day one of starting Jenny Bird and a question that helped guide her when taking on her quest to build her family. The one and only JB joins the Day 1 podcast to speak to help bring more awareness to infertility, she chats with Emily Getz about her endometriosis diagnosis and how this discovery kick started her journey. Jenny also shares that her experience as an entrepreneur unexpectedly prepared her to take on the ups and downs of IVF and how her everyday state of 'living within the plain of possibility' allowed her to let go and lean into the ‘what if this works' mentality. Jenny Bird, founder and operator of the jewellery company, Jenny Bird, joined Jas and Laura to talk about how business has changed since this pandemic started. She discusses how in those first two weeks she was in survival mode but having a “possibilities mindset” instead of a “victim mindset” allowed her to weather the storm. She then discusses why now, more than ever, it’s important for companies to place the well being of their staff over productivity, why it’s imperative to get creative in solving problems, and why companies need to place greater emphasis on their social mission and not just their bottom line. From small town Elora to Toronto to the world, from selling her jewellery on her kitchen table to now over 500 retail stores internationally, from having fertility challenges to now mother to two, Jenny Bird is one of those women who made something out of nothing- through her strength to persevere over and over again and through her power of manifestation. As a young girl growing up in a town with a population of 3000, Jenny socked herself in arts and crafts. along with big dreams and deep understanding of the responsibility to provide for the family. Now, at 42, Jenny is at a very comfortable space with success and recognitions under her belt, she continues to seek for deeper meaning. Something bigger is calling her- she feels strongly. We were lucky to have caught Jenny in a moment of change- shortly before she gave birth to her second child Georgie See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Caila Stangl is the cofounder and soul of Public Office, a creative and production studio based in Toronto. At a time when nothing in sight was visually thrilling, PO caught my attention. I visited their beautiful studio in the Artscape Youngplace building on a sunny day and had a pleasant conversation with Caila and Lindsay (the other cofounder). They've been doing some big things quietly- working with international elite clients like Roots Canada, Starbucks and other local beloved brands, such as Jenny Bird, Golden Ticket Candy. During our chat, Caila shares the small yet pivotal moment for her career; walks us through her first nerve-racking client pitch experience as a freelancer and how she eventually overcome that fear of "selling herself"; and she also talks about, as a designer, how to manage to be stimulated and inspired yet stay focused?
