Amy Liu's journey to redefining clean beauty started in her own skin. As someone with eczema, she knew firsthand the struggle of finding beauty products that were both safe and effective. The industry was full of promises, but few products delivered results without irritation. After years of working behind the scenes at Smashbox, Kate Somerville, and Josie Maran Cosmetics, Amy found herself at a crossroads. She had built brands for others, but what about a brand built for people like her? People who wanted beauty without compromise? At 40, she took the leap and launched Tower 28, the first and only beauty brand 100% compliant with the National Eczema Association's ingredient guidelines. In this episode, Nancy and Amy unpack the highs and lows of entrepreneurship—overcoming the fear of failure, scaling a business while staying true to her mission, and bringing her husband on board as CFO. Recognized as Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year for Greater Los Angeles and one of Goldman Sachs' most exceptional entrepreneurs, Amy has proven that success doesn't have to come at the cost of integrity. This is a conversation about resilience, leadership, and the power of collaboration over competition. Ever been diagnosed with stasis dermatitis? If you're dealing with swelling, redness, or relentless itchiness on your lower legs, it's not just dry skin or aging—it could be a sign of poor circulation.Stasis dermatitis is more than just a rash. If left unchecked, it can lead to painful ulcers, infections, and serious complications. It's often mistaken for cellulitis, which means unnecessary antibiotics—and in one case, a patient was hospitalized 11 times before getting the right diagnosis. And heads up—it doesn't just show up on legs. It can also affect areas like the belly and lower back where blood tends to pool.To help us unpack this overlooked condition, I'm joined by Dr. Peter Lio—a board-certified dermatologist and eczema expert. He's a Clinical Assistant Professor at Northwestern, Harvard-trained, and has published over 100 papers, including a textbook on integrative dermatology.Dr. Lio breaks down what stasis dermatitis is, why it's often missed, and how to spot it early. If you or someone you love has unexplained swelling, itchy legs, or chronic redness—don't miss this episode!⭐️Mentioned in This Episode:- Dr. Peter Lio - https://chicagoeczema.com/ - See all the references

Today on the podcast we have a conversation with May Lindstrom, who grew up with highly sensitive and reactive skin that would erupt in blisters, rashes, spots of eczema, and various forms of dermatitis when out of balance. Her parents eventually discovered she had a sensitivity to glues, dyes, synthetic fragrance, preservatives, and a long list of irritants. Traditional skincare would wreak total havoc on her complexion, and even many "natural" ingredients would irritate her skin. As she grew older, her chemical sensitivities continued to increase and she became more aware of how much her environment affected her well-being. Her solution was to immerse herself in the study of plant medicine and ultimately create formulas targeted to her own challenges and goals. Today we have a conversation on May's really incredible and beautiful journey that spans many different versions of herself, and talk about her truly luxurious, clean, and beautiful skincare line. We loved this conversation, and love these products. If you are new to the very special world of May Lindstrom Skin, this welcome offer is especially for you.
