We're going to the future-past again with Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow! Whoops! Meet yet another alternate Jim Kirk with us as we wander around Toronto, learn about the unceasing push of time, and drive slightly better than you might expect.
In a special bonus episode we revisit our old podcast Memory Gamma, the 'true' crime show about Star Trek villains. In this installment we tackle one of the most critically acclaimed Trek stories 'The Conscience of the King'. In it we learned of Jim Kirk's tragic backstory and the darkest chapter in the Federation's days of colonization. The specter of Tarsus IV doesn't end with survival; it haunts Captain James Kirk as he comes face-to-face with Kodos the Executioner on Planet Q. Listen to the tensions rise and uncover the chilling truth behind the infamous massacre. Our discussion goes beyond the dramatic confrontations, prompting reflection on the slippery slopes of justice and the enduring challenges of human nature within the Federation. These narratives remind us of the sharp edges of fear and desperation that can emerge in times of crisis and the timeless lessons Star Trek continues to offer.
"It was... fun." Star Trek: Generations turns 30 (!) years old this week (on Nov. 18) and Scott and Phil can't believe that or the fact that we didn't mark the occasion by doing our usual joke/reference to Checkov and Kirk's "No, you were younger" exchange. But what we did do was mine the memory banks to repost our fascinating Generations commentary track, recorded with our good friend Matt Fowler. Here, we break down the making of the first Star Trek: The Next Generation movie and the first encounter between Captains Kirk and Picard.Speaking of Captain Kirk, we also passionately weigh in on Jim Kirk's resurrection-ish in the new "Unification" short film. Also, we celebrate the career and life of another Star Trek great that recently passed away, Tony Todd.
Vinyl records play a significant role in Jay and Deon's lives. They're 100% obsessed with music. But how did this madness all start? Well, episode 40 of LLR examines their origin stories. 15.

Welcome abroad the FCPV (From a Certain Point of View) 4520 Starship Pretender. Our crew is accosted by Thermians and compelled to review one of the greatest parody films ever made. From sly references to Jim Kirk's hubris to Sigourney Weaver climbing through airducts, again, this film is filled with all the easter eggs sci-fi fans love. We fight Gorignak the Rock Monster, we love Fred falling in love with tentacle girls (gotta skirt that line very carefully), and all the while hoping Guy doesn't go the way of the "red shirts" to be offed on an alien planet. There are really so many references that we want to say here but that's for the podcast to explain about the movie we just watched. By Grabthar's Hammer, by the Sons of- SHUT UP!!!!
Christopher Pike. For the first captain to be filmed leading the USS Enterprise, Christopher Pike has gotten precious little screen time over the years. That all changed when Season 2 of Star Trek: Discovery began on January 17, 2019. Anson Mount's portrayal of the character who led the mission to Talos IV, pondered retirement with Dr. Boyce, and inspired a young Jim Kirk in the Kelvin timeline reenergized Star Trek and fans. His presence was so well received that, just over three years later, an entire new series is about to premier with Mount's Pike at the helm. In preparation for the start of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, we're pleased to announce the launch of this new podcast, Saddle Up! In this first episode, hosts C Bryan Jones and Matthew Rushing discuss Christopher Pike, the character as we've since him in The Original Series, the Kelvin films, and Discovery, and how we think he may be portrayed in Strange New Worlds. We also talk about the prospects for the new series overall, some of the aesthetic and crew choices, and, most importantly, our hope that, wherever our mission take us, we'll have a little fun, make a little noise, and ruffle a few feathers. Alien Worlds was a science fiction/adventure omnibus—an anthology with the same characters set in the same universe, as opposed to an anthology of completely unrelated stories. The series was independently created, produced, and directed by Lee Hansen from 1979 to 1980. He produced 30 episodes covering 19 individual plotlines. Episodes were in standard 30-minute format, but story arcs were as long as 90 minutes. It's the mid-21st century and the International Space Authority (ISA) is the body which governs space exploration and development. Alien Worlds follows the adventures of ISA staff as they encounter strange cosmic mysteries. Some episodes take place aboard Starlab, an orbiting space station, while other episodes take place throughout the galaxy. All of the episodes are full of action. The series was written by Lee Hansen and Ron Thompson, with various co-writers, including Ken Ross, Jim Cook, Skip Press, Dudley Brown, Mike Hodel, and Babylon 5 writer J. Michael Stracynski. The full-symphonic soundtrack was written by Jim Kirk and performed by the London Symphony Orchestra.

Yes, really, we all still exist. Seriously. So much has happened since we got together a little over a year ago. Several countries have new leaders, and Steve Jobs, on of the icons of tech, died. What do these things have in common? Leadership. So yeah, that was our topic. Robin is writing a book on leadership, so he told us about his ideas, they include the notion that leadership is different from managerial ability, and a lot of what we think of as leadership is just being a good manager. We talked Steve Jobs, Jim Kirk, Jean Luc Picard, and of course Gordon Ramsay... We hope you enjoy episode 29.
