Now Is the Time to Reverse 'Gay Marriage' | 8/28/25

The Minnesota trans-identifying shooter is part of a dangerous trend of psychosis among those pumped with chemical castration drugs. Conservatives must use this opportunity to ban all forms of castration, not just for children but for adults as well. At the same time, we must remember that transgenderism flows directly from Obergefell and the false concept of a same-sex marriage. We're joined by Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel, who believes his client, Kim Davis, is on the cusp of forcing the Supreme Court to overturn Obergefell. We discuss the legal case for overturning the decision and why anyone who voted for the Dobbs opinion is bound to reverse this decision because Obergefell is even more legally indefensible than Roe v. Wade. We also discuss the need to build political momentum in the states and expose the travesty of same-sex adoptions so that we don't make the same mistakes we did with Dobbs — winning the legal fight while losing the political fight in the states.  Learn more about your ad choices. In June of 2015, the Supreme Court made history by ruling that Jim Obergefell and other same-sex couples deserve the right to have their marriages legally recognized — not just in a few states, but across the country. It's strange to think that only happened ten years ago. Gay couples across the country have only had the right to marry the person they love since the year of Jurassic World and the first run of Hamilton and that dress on the internet that nobody could agree was blue and black or white and gold. And it was only eleven years before that, in 2004, that the very first legal gay wedding was held anywhere in the country. As we saw with Roe v Wade, though, Supreme Court cases can be overturned and rights can be taken away. Right now, there's real concern that the Supreme Court will re-examine Obergefell in the next year. In 2022, after Roe v Wade was struck down, Justice Clarence Thomas wrote that the Court should turn their attention to other cases of equal rights… like Obergefell. And now, he might get his chance. Kentucky country clerk Kim Davis filed an official petition this month asking the Supreme Court to re-examine the case.Yes, that Kim Davis. The one who went to jail for 5 days in 2015 for refusing to sign marriage licenses for gay couples. Doesn't she have better things to do than work this hard to take away other people's rights? We have more than a decade of studies now that prove how much of a difference the right to marry has made for gay couples across the country. Married same-sex couples report better life satisfaction, better physical health, and higher rates of homeownership than unmarried same-sex couples. Once married, they can get on each other's health insurance, file taxes jointly, and act as legal next of kin in cases of life or death.By contrast, not a single study has been able to prove any negative effects. Divorce rates across the board have fallen for all types of married couples and children of same-sex couples have the same educational and health outcomes as those in a household with a mother and father. The majority of Americans believe in marriage equality and the separation of church and state. But for hundreds of thousands of gay couples across the country, the right to get married isn't abstract — it affects their daily lives, their finances, their health, and their family. For a transcript of this episode, please email comms@redwine.blue. However, for the first time in over five years, Kim Davis (an opponent of same-sex marriage) petitioned for a writ of certiorari to overturn Obergefell. Is there a possibility the court will revisit its finding? How does this decision compare to other recently overturned decisions like Roe v Wade? And is even talking about this a problem in itself??Talking us through the situation and possible scenarios is Danaya Wright, Professor in Constitutional Law at the University of Florida Levin College of Law. Ansley is back in the driver's seat of the Boredwalk Podcast, and she is FIRED UP about MAGA's latest assaults on civil liberties — particularly long-forgotten serially divorced sister-wife Kim Davis's return to the national spotlight to resume her bigoted crusade to overturn the U.S. Supreme Court's 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges ruling that legalized same-sex marriage at the federal level. Ugh, give it up, you pathetic hose beast! Take your deviled eggs of hate back to your tacky double-wide hovel, stop being so obsessed with what other people do in their private lives, and do something constructive with your life! Maybe start with addressing your tragic wardrobe choices and regrettable hair situation. This leads into a discussion of Donald Trump's continued efforts to end free and fair elections and representative democracy more broadly in the U.S. as he races to complete Project 2025 and uses the National Guard and domestic militarization for his personal political vendettas. If you're concerned about U.S. politics and voting rights, you won't want to miss this episode full of Donald Trump news. We also discuss attacks on birth control, reproductive rights, and more! Moving on, we check in with the latest dispatch from Troll-sylvania, where we get to disabuse fragile men in the comments of the notion that misandry is a thing that exists (it does not). Astute listeners / viewers will note that the above sentence is unchanged from LAST week's episode description. That is because these soft little snowflakes cry about the same thing CONSTANTLY every freakin' week in our comments. At least be original with your whining, you pathetic red pill regressives! This is followed by a nice palate cleanser in the form of a glowing 5-star review for our newly-released Sinister Affirmations card deck, and then our hosts wrap up the episode by trading answers to questions pulled from our Delve Deck conversation card sets. The law mandates social media companies verify users' ages and get parental consent for kids under 18. Supporters claim it protects children from online harms, while critics argue it's vague, intrusive, and may violate the First Amendment.Renewed Push to Overturn Marriage Equality (Obergefell v. Hodges): There's renewed legal activity aimed at overturning the Supreme Court's 2015 decision in Obergefell v. Hodges, which legalized same-sex marriage nationwide. The case gained attention due to Kim Davis, a former Kentucky clerk who refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, now asking the Supreme Court to revisit the ruling.Trump Administration and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB): The final major story discusses a recent court decision paving the way for the Trump administration to pursue mass firings at the CFPB—a federal agency created after the 2008 financial crisis to protect consumers. Send us a textWhile Hannah doesn't typically like to react to things she sees on social media, a particular post regarding Kim Davis' potential upcoming Supreme Court hearing brought up some interesting points Hannah felt compelled to walk through with her listeners. For those who don't remember, Kim Davis is the Rowan county clerk in Kentucky who refused to sign marriage licenses following the Obergefell v Hodges decision. The particular post making rounds argued that the Constitution applies differently to government employees and it was unConstitutional for Davis to refuse to sign marriage licenses. Furthermore, it claimed that she should have stepped down if she couldn't sign them and that she, along with Christians who supported her, was a hypocrite for discriminating against same-sex couples but not sinners of other varieties. Lastly, the author of the post argued that Jesus would have behaved much differently than Davis and the Christians who support her. In today's podcast, Hannah addresses whether each of these claims is true and whether Christians should adhere to these admonishments. In the Homeschool Hints segment, Hannah continues her series of sharing the curriculum she chose for her homeschool this year. Could Supreme Court overturn homosexual marriage ruling?; Answers in Genesis’ new Truth Traveler attractions, Anglican Church of Nigeria horrified by lesbian bishop in Wales

It's Thursday, August 14th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Indonesian Christian leaders urge government to protect religious liberty Religious leaders in Indonesia are calling on the government there to protect religious freedom. This comes after a string of attacks on Christian buildings in the Southeast Asian country.  The Conference of Indonesian Catholic Bishops said, “Any act of intimidation, violence, or unilateral restriction of religious activities violates the law and undermines the fundamental values of life together as citizens of the same nation.” Indonesia is not currently on the Open Doors' World Watch List of the most difficult countries to be a Christian. However, it has appeared on that list in previous years. Anglican Church of Nigeria horrified by lesbian bishop in Wales The Anglican Church of Nigeria cut ties with the Anglican Church of Wales over its election of an openly lesbian archbishop named Cherry Vann who is in a sexual relationship with Wendy Diamond. Rev. Henry Ndukuba leads the Anglican Church in Nigeria. He said, “The Church of Nigeria believes that this moment calls for prayer for the Church of Wales, hoping that the Church of England will not follow in her steps. We should hold them in our prayers with a clear message that hope lies only in true repentance and godliness.” To its credit, The Anglican Church of Nigeria previously severed ties with the Episcopal Church in the United States over a similar situation.  2 Timothy 4:3-4 warns, “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.” British pro-lifer targeted a third time for praying outside abortion mill Police in the United Kingdom are investigating a woman for praying outside an abortion mill. It's the third time police have gone after Isabel Vaughan-Spruce, Director of the March for Life UK, over her silent prayers. West Midlands Police previously arrested her twice. Vaughan-Spruce won a settlement over the wrongful arrests worth about $17,500. However, officials continue to target her. Jeremiah Igunnubole, legal counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom International, said, “We will continue to robustly challenge this unjust censorship, and support Isabel's right to think and believe freely.” Could Supreme Court overturn homosexual marriage ruling? In the United States, Liberty Counsel recently asked the U.S. Supreme Court to review the case of a Christian county clerk. Kim Davis, the former Rowan County, Kentucky clerk, refused to issue marriage licenses to homosexual couples. She was the first victim to be jailed and sued following the infamous 2015 Obergefell ruling. The Supreme Court ruling legalized faux same-sex marriage nationwide. Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver said, “Kim Davis' case underscores why the U.S. Supreme Court should overturn the wrongly decided Obergefell v. Hodges opinion because it threatens the religious liberty of Americans who believe that marriage is a sacred union between one man and one woman.” U.S. debt hits $37 trillion The U.S. national debt hit $37 trillion for the first time, according to a Tuesday report from the Treasury Department. The national debt is projected to reach 99% of the U.S. Gross Domestic Product this year which is the measure of the total economic activity within a country. The Peter G. Peterson Foundation noted that the debt amounts to $280,000 per household in America and is growing at over five billion dollars per day. Fewer Americans drink alcohol A survey from Gallup found that the percentage of Americans who use alcoholic beverages fell to a record low of 54 percent. Young adults are even less likely to drink alcohol at 50 percent.  And for the first time, over 50 percent of U.S. adults say drinking one or two alcoholic drinks a day is bad for one's health. That number is up from 28 percent in 2015. Young adults are even more likely to say drinking is bad for their health at 66 percent. Gallup noted, “Declines in alcohol consumption do not appear to be caused by people shifting to other mood-altering substances.” Answers in Genesis announces Truth Traveler attractions in Pigeon Forge & Branson And finally, Answers in Genesis is opening two new Bible attractions, one in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and the other in Branson, Missouri.  The Truth Traveler attractions feature a 5D experience that blends cutting-edge virtual reality, motion seating, and sensory effects to transport you through pivotal moments in Biblical history. The website says, “Feel the ground shake as the floodwaters rise, stand in awe at the towering walls of Babel, and witness history unfold in breathtaking detail.” Ken Ham, the CEO of Answers in Genesis, said, “Please pray with us that these attractions will reach thousands of families with the message of the truth of God's Word and the Gospel.” Psalm 111:2, 4 says, “Great are the works of the LORD, studied by all who delight in them. … He has caused His wondrous works to be remembered; the LORD is gracious and merciful.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, August 14th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Follow us on X or subscribe for free by Spotify, Amazon Music, or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus (Adam@TheWorldview.com). Kim Davis is asking the Supreme Court to overturn its landmark decision that legalized same sex unions nationwide. Obergefell v. Hodges was issued in 2015. It officially recognized that queer Americans have a constitutional right to get married. Hundreds of thousands of people have been married in the 10 years since. And also since then, Kim Davis has been fighting court battles over her refusal to grant licenses – citing her belief that she should get a religious exemption under the first amendment. The Supreme Court will decide this fall if they want to consider Davis’ appeal – and experts are skeptical that they will do so. But what would a serious legal fight to overturn marriage equality look like? And are legal rights besides marriage at risk for LGBTQ Washingtonians? Guest: Professor Alison Gash, Chair of the University of Oregon’s Department of Political Science. She’s also an academic expert in United States courts, sexuality, same-sex marriage, constitutional rights and public policy. Today's Headlines: The Supreme Court is taking up a case that could overturn its 2015 Obergefell decision legalizing same-sex marriage — courtesy of Kim Davis, the Kentucky clerk jailed for refusing gay marriage licenses. She's appealing a $360K judgment, claiming First Amendment protection and arguing marriage equality was wrongly decided. Meanwhile, the White House plans to audit the Smithsonian to make sure exhibits fit Trump's “unifying” version of American history — which critics say means erasing inconvenient facts. Harvard is reportedly near a $500M settlement with the Trump administration to end multiple investigations, restore research funding, and avoid federal oversight — while maintaining its admissions independence. Trump mocked Goldman Sachs' chief economist after tariff warnings, telling the CEO (a hobbyist DJ) to “focus on being a DJ.” He also nominated Heritage Foundation economist EJ Antoni to lead the Bureau of Labor Statistics after firing the last commissioner over jobs numbers. An Israeli strike killed Al Jazeera correspondent Anas al-Sharif, four colleagues, and two others; Israel claims he was a Hamas operative. And convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell has been moved to a cushier prison with possible work release. They argue outlets like ABC are using the case as a political scare tactic to rally voters, tying it to Trump despite the events predating his presidency. Marc reiterates his belief in traditional marriage but doubts the Court will even take the case, let alone reverse Obergefell. They note Trump's mixed record on the issue, calling him “wishy-washy” on social issues but highly effective for conservative causes overall. Both slam the narrative that Project 2025 or Trump himself is behind this, labeling it a “nothing burger” meant to stoke protests and division before the election.

This Day in Legal History: Alien ActOn June 25, 1798, the United States Congress passed the Alien Act, one of the four laws collectively known as the Alien and Sedition Acts. Signed into law by President John Adams, the Alien Act authorized the president to order the deportation of any non-citizen deemed "dangerous to the peace and safety of the United States." This law emerged during a time of heightened political tension and fear of foreign influence, particularly as hostilities with France escalated during the Quasi-War. The Federalist-controlled government promoted the act as a necessary measure to protect national security, but it quickly drew criticism from the rival Democratic-Republican Party.Critics argued the act violated fundamental principles of due process and civil liberties, granting the executive branch unchecked power over immigration and expulsion. The law did not require a criminal conviction or even a hearing, allowing deportation based solely on presidential discretion. Although the Alien Act had a two-year sunset clause and was never directly enforced through mass deportations, its passage contributed to a growing divide between Federalists and Jeffersonians. The broader set of Alien and Sedition Acts also targeted political dissent, with the Sedition Act criminalizing speech critical of the government. These laws played a central role in the 1800 presidential election, fueling opposition that ultimately helped Thomas Jefferson defeat John Adams. In the long run, the Alien Act became emblematic of federal overreach and was widely viewed as an overreaction to perceived threats. It underscored early challenges in balancing national security with individual rights and helped lay the groundwork for later debates on immigration and executive authority.A decade after the Supreme Court's landmark ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges, a Christian legal group is preparing to challenge the decision that legalized same-sex marriage nationwide. The move comes amid broader conservative momentum, including a Southern Baptist Convention resolution calling for the ruling's repeal and a recent Supreme Court decision upholding Tennessee's ban on gender-affirming care for minors. Despite these developments, legal experts, including conservatives, see little chance the Court will take up the challenge. John Bursch, a former Obergefell litigator, noted that overturning such a major precedent typically requires both time and significant public advocacy—Roe v. Wade, for instance, remained in force for nearly 50 years before being overturned in Dobbs.Nonetheless, Liberty Counsel is moving forward with a Supreme Court appeal on behalf of Kim Davis, the Kentucky clerk who refused to issue a marriage license to a same-sex couple just days after Obergefell. Davis was found liable for $100,000 in emotional distress damages, and the group will argue that her actions were protected by the First Amendment. The Sixth Circuit rejected that argument, stating that Davis acted as a public official and thus could not claim constitutional protection for her refusal. Liberty Counsel also intends to ask the Court to reconsider the core ruling in Obergefell, comparing their strategy to how Dobbs upended abortion rights.Legal observers remain skeptical. The Supreme Court already declined to hear Davis's earlier appeal, and while Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito expressed concerns about the scope of Obergefell, they said Davis had not properly raised the issue in lower courts. That procedural misstep could again doom her case. Meanwhile, political efforts are mounting in conservative states, with resolutions and bills promoting "covenant marriage" that excludes same-sex couples. Still, critics such as the ACLU see these moves as largely symbolic and lacking real legal traction.Same-Sex Marriage Challenge Seen as Long Shot at Supreme CourtA new ruling in the case Bartz et al v. Anthropic PBC has provided the first major legal decision on whether training generative AI models qualifies as fair use under U.S. copyright law. District Judge William Alsup concluded that using legitimately purchased books to train AI models like Anthropic's Claude counts as transformative fair use, as long as the books are bought for training and then destroyed afterward. This decision gives AI developers a tentative legal framework, or “roadmap,” for creating compliant large language models, though the ruling is not without limits. Alsup allowed separate claims involving pirated training materials to proceed to trial, drawing a sharp line between lawful acquisition and copyright infringement. The court's ruling highlights the four traditional fair use factors, placing significant weight on the transformative nature of AI training while minimizing the importance of its commercial impact on the original market. Alsup asserted that the use was transformative enough to outweigh concerns over licensing markets, suggesting that AI training doesn't necessarily harm authors' ability to profit from their work. This view diverges from recent interpretations emphasizing market harm, such as the Supreme Court's 2022 Warhol decision. While this reasoning favors developers, it also creates tension with copyright owners, who argue the ruling downplays existing licensing practices. The decision notably distances itself from claims involving pirated materials. Alsup treated the copying and use of pirated books as a separate issue that may still result in substantial liability, including statutory damages. This split decision—approving the use of lawfully acquired materials but scrutinizing pirated content—offers a compromise approach that courts in similar cases might adopt. With multiple lawsuits against OpenAI and Meta pending, Alsup's ruling could influence upcoming decisions, though judges in other districts may interpret the law differently. The opinion suggests that training can be transformative and lawful under certain conditions but reinforces that AI companies must source training data responsibly.Mixed Anthropic Ruling Builds Roadmap for Generative AI Fair UseAnthropic wins key US ruling on AI training in authors' copyright lawsuit | ReutersKilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national previously deported under the Trump administration despite a court order barring his removal, is set to appear in a Nashville court to determine the terms of his release from jail. A U.S. magistrate judge ruled that Abrego could not be detained pending trial, citing insufficient evidence that he poses a danger. Abrego has pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiring to smuggle migrants into the U.S., accusations his legal team argues were intended to justify his unlawful deportation. His case has drawn attention as a symbol of the Trump administration's controversial immigration policies and has sparked civil rights concerns. The court noted that even if Abrego is released from criminal custody, immigration authorities may still detain him. The judge questioned the reliability of the government's witnesses, many of whom are convicted smugglers or deportees seeking leniency. Prosecutors allege Abrego transported migrants, including minors, on over 100 trips between Texas and Maryland, often accompanied by his own children to avoid suspicion. However, the court viewed these claims skeptically due to the witnesses' motivations and criminal backgrounds.U.S. officials initially labeled his deportation an “administrative error” and resisted calls to return him, raising further due process concerns. Another judge is investigating whether the administration violated court orders related to his removal. Ultimately, the Justice Department brought Abrego back to face charges, but the judge's recent ruling underscores the court's commitment to ensuring his constitutional rights are respected.Returned deportee Abrego due in US court over bail conditions | Reuters This is a public episode. This week… The fellas were prepped and ready to welcome Kim Davis, the host of the true crime podcast Slaycation. For reasons unknown Kim never joined the show. The date and time was confirmed but Kim was nowhere to be found. Hopefully her not showing up isn't the start of a true crime mystery, DUN DUN DUN! If it is, it was probably the husband or a scorned lover. Ah jeez I listened to a few too many true crime pods to prep for this episode and it got me nowhere! Thanks a lot Slaycation. Luckily Max had a true crime story ready to tell, and of “coors” it had to do with beer. Andy filled in for Kim and FaceTimed the whole show. They talked WI sports briefly, then battled the Urban Dictionary and found a few gems! They'll be out next week but they talked about creating the bar top challenge and what they'll be doing in their time off. The fellas were feeling pretty down but the beers kept their spirits high and they laughed and joked through another sode! But before any of the nonsense, they saved the best for first, with the Beer of the Week! During the BOW the fellas rate and review a new beer. They discuss the history of the brewery and examine what's in the beer they're drinking. Then, they break down the beer by its drinkability, the probability they'd drink it again, its chugability, and the can's attractability.
