Since we’re trapped at home in isolation, we decided to record an extra episode this week. We talk about a fight we had yesterday and how stress levels are affecting the way we interact. We also spend some time discussing an unrelated user question: “Do I get a say in my partner’s porn use?”. We explore the difference between setting boundaries and dictating behaviour as well as specific communication prompts you can use to talk to your partner about porn. We also consider whether or not you should change your habits to meet your partner’s needs and concerns. Please see below for a rough transcript of this podcast.  Listener Question: "Do you get a say in your partner's porn habits?" You have a say in terms of having the right to speak up about how you feel. You don’t have a right to dictate how they behave. And why would you want to? If they have a desire to engage in a specific behaviour, why do you want to limit them? This isn't a rhetorical question. Explore your reasonings for wanting to limit their sexual exploration. This may help you to adjust your expectations and/or better communicate your needs and feelings. Note: If you can’t agree on porn use, it’s likely you’re not sexually compatible. Unless porn is interfering in your daily interactions (e.g. they can’t focus on a conversation or hold a job because they want to run off to their laptop and stroke it), it’s unlikely to be a real problem. Listener Question: Where is the line between advocating for what I want/setting boundaries and being controlling? Of course you can tell them if you feel jealous or uncomfortable. And they have a right to express how they feel about using porn (e.g. excited, passionate, entertained). You’re both entitled to your feelings. And you’re also responsible for your own feelings — your partner’s behaviour may affect how you feel, but your emotional response is complex and is influenced by a great number of factors (e.g. your past, sexual values, sexual associations, mood, sleep, previous relationships, your own experiences with porn). You can ask your partner to take your feelings into consideration and you can ask them to engage in a dialogue about porn. Hopefully they’ll be willing to listen and consider your feelings. This doesn’t mean they have to adjust their behavior to make your feel better; perhaps you need to adjust the way you think to make yourself feel better. Of course, if you’re expressing feelings of vulnerability, I would hope that they’d respond with care, love and reassurance. If, on the other hand, you’re making accusations and directing blame, it’s more likely they’ll respond with defensiveness and/or their own accusations. Listener Question: What about types of porn? Are some more acceptable than others? What about porn that depicts women as objects? It’s not uncommon to feel uncomfortable in response to scenes that depict degradation, age play and other taboo sex topics. It’s also not uncommon to be aroused by these scenes. In fact, some people are simultaneously aroused and disgusted. Just because a fantasy makes you uncomfortable doesn’t mean that it’s inherently bad — as a fantasy.  When actors consent to perform a degradation scene for example, they’re not personally being degraded; they’re actors playing a role for pay with consent. Listener Question: Should I try to change if my porn use is upsetting my partner? I suggest you consider their feelings and think about whether you want to change your habits. If you do something because you feel forced to do so, it’s likely you’ll find yourself frustrated and resentful. Some changes might be more doable (e.g. don’t watch porn in the living room) while others might feel like a violation of your own sexual rights (e.g. don’t watch porn at all). You might want to ask yourself why you’re uncomfortable with porn in the first place. Dig deep and don’t make excuses. Do you consider the same moral/personal issues when you look at o...

One of the main concerns GM’s had was the disadvantage of some teams in areas that are currently hotbeds for Covid-19 (i.e.: NY/NJ area) having to draft from home with others still being able to use their team facilities. That said, the league is also ordering all team facilities to be closed from tonight through April 8 at the very least, which could signal that all 32 clubs might have to conduct the draft from home. Do you think that’s the case? If yes, would you say the draft occurs as scheduled and if not, how much does that increase the odds of the draft being pushed back? 2. As you and others have reported recently, arguably the biggest prospect whose stock is in limbo due to Covid-19 is Tua Tagovailoa. Since there will be no med re-checks, many QB-needy teams might have additional pause about drafting him. Should the Dolphins opt to select Justin Herbert instead and the Chargers decide to take an OT at 6 overall, how far can you see Tua falling? 3. There is expected to be a lot of wheeling and dealing early and often in this draft. As of January, the consensus belief was that Joe Burrow and Chase Young would go first and second overall, respectively, and the draft would essentially begin at #3 overall with the Lions likely trading down. However, there was buzz coming out of the Combine that the Redskins may move down from two and there’s even some chatter that the Bengals may even trade down from one overall in a blockbuster deal with the Dolphins. Do you still believe the Lions are the most likely of those three teams to trade down or is that buzz surrounding Cincinnati and Washington real? 4. Another spot in the draft where things can get really wild, as Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff hinted weeks ago in a radio interview, is around the range from picks 9-11 to picks 20-22. A big reason why? Wide receivers. Although this is arguably the deepest, most talented WR class in years, there is a pretty sizeable drop-off in terms of tiers from the top three WR prospects: Henry Ruggs, Jerry Jeudy and CeeDee Lamb. The Jaguars at nine and the Jets at 11 have been mentioned as trade back candidates given the alarming holes all over their respective rosters, and the Browns at 10, since they are back to a more analytics-driven approach, have been mentioned as a possible candidate to trade back as well. And look at the amount of WR-needy teams picking behind the Jets: the Raiders (12, 19), 49ers (13), Broncos (15), Eagles (21), and the Vikings (22, 25). Out of the three trade back candidates (JAX, CLE, NYJ), which one do you see as most likely to move back and which of those teams urgently in need of immediate WR help do you see as their most likely trading partner? 5. After spending time in Germany and England recently she noticed a several things that are likely to throw you off if this is your first time in Europe. What You Need to Know Before Your First Time in Europe If you haven't visited Europe before or if it's been a long time since your last visit, you need to listen so you're not caught off guard! It's pretty easy to handle, we give you a list of a few things to put in your suitcase so you don't have to go running off to the store as soon as you arrive! #1 Hotel Beds Won't Have a Top Sheet Instead of a top sheet and blanket you'll get a comforter with a duvet cover. If you get too hot with the heavy comforter you may want a top sheet. #2 No Toiletries in Budget Hotels Budget hotels will have zero toiletries for you when you arrive. Not even a stick of soap. You can usually tell if you read the reviews, but just in case, bring travel size toiletries. #3 No Washcloths in Hotels Bring your own wash cloth because unless you're staying at a luxury hotel, there will not be a washcloth for you in the room. No loofah either! #4 Hotel Rooms Are Tiny in Europe! Everything in North America is over-sized. When you arrive in France or England or Germany, you will think you've landed in the land of Lilliput! #5 Turning Things On in European Hotel Rooms In England you have to turn every plug with a switch. In France and Germany you have to insert your hotel magnetic card into a reader before the lights or heating/cooling will work. #6 Open Windows for Ventilation In Europe we often don't have fans you can turn on for ventilation. Some hotel rooms will have constant ventilation, some have none and you're supposed to open the windows. #7 No Carpet in Most Hotel Rooms in Europe Hotel rooms in Europe usually have wood floors, tile, or linoleum. You may find short commercial carpet, but it will be the exception, not the rule. #8 Security Searches in Europe There will be security lines everywhere you go in Europe. Travel light and plan on opening your bag for security! #9 Check to See If You Need a Power Converter Depending on what you bring on your trip, you may or may not need a power converter. Check your charger with a magnifying glass! #10 You Need Travel Plug Adapters! Your US/Canada plug will not fit in any socket in Europe. Bring a travel plug adapter or two so you can charge your phone as soon as you arrive. Answer to a Listener Question What to Do If People Cut In Line in Front of You in France? Is it ever necessary to label ourselves? Is it ever ok to label anyone else? Not according to internet celebrity and spoken-word poet, Prince Ea, whose viral video entitled "I Am Not Black, You Are Not White" claims that labels are the root of all social ills and that our identity is entirely separate from our physical reality.
