On Thursday's Mark Levin Show, are you getting sick and tired of ingrates who have no connection to this country? Take Hasan Piker: born here, raised in Turkey where he was radicalized, and thanks to the Supreme Court, returned here as a citizen. Democrats might be keeping Piker at arm's length, but he is the face of the party. Democrats have embraced radical Islamism and Marxism just like they embraced slavery and segregation in the past. Islamism and Marxism are incompatible with the Judeo-Christian values of America and the Constitution. Most outrageously, Piker says, pound-for-pound, America causes more terrorism than Al-Qaeda. America is turning into Europe, which is dead and doesn't have the will to survive. Later, Bruce Blakeman calls in with an update on the NY Gubernatorial race. Blakeman says that his campaign is in a statistical dead heat, with polling showing him only 3.9% behind in a blue state. New York is facing economic decline, with population, business, and job losses, and warns that continued leadership by Kathy Hochul and Zohran Mamdani would further harm the state. Voters are increasingly recognizing the need for change and policies focused on job creation, economic growth, tax and regulation cuts, lower utility costs, and restoring law and order. Also, many members of Congress lack expertise in AI and data centers yet seek to regulate them. AI development is a competitive race that the United States must win. Any regulation would hinder innovation while allowing other countries to advance. If these doomer-Luddite politicians have their way, the new medicines and technologies resulting from AI data centers that are going to save lives, improve the quality of life, and increase the standard of living for untold numbers of people, would not happen.  They are literally trying to cripple these industries and these businesses, and they are also actively helping the Communist Chinese leapfrog our companies and our country.  Afterward, if the Democrats had their way, they would remove President Trump, Secretary of War Hegseth and Secretary of Education McMahon via impeachment. The 2026 midterms are approaching, and there is growing pressure on conservatives to sit out elections, reject Republican candidates, or pursue some kind of political accelerationism because Republicans have not accomplished everything conservatives hoped they would.In this episode of Conversations That Matter, I make the case for why Christian conservatives should generally vote Republican in the midterms, while also explaining why voting is not a substitute for the much more important work of Christian discipleship and social renewal.The key distinction is between practical politics and pragmatism. Pragmatism means changing your moral standards to achieve a desired political outcome. Practical judgment means recognizing the political circumstances you actually inhabit and using the tools available to you without changing your moral convictions. As I argue in the episode, morality does not change, but political circumstances and available options do.I also discuss the temptation to abandon the Republican Party because it is imperfect, the dangers of accelerationism, what the experience of Europe can teach us, my own decision not to vote for Donald Trump in 2016, and why that calculation would be different in a competitive state.Finally, I look at what the Trump administration and the MAGA movement have actually accomplished on issues including immigration, DEI, abortion, and foreign policy, and argue that conservatives should consider whether to build on those gains rather than simply destroy the political apparatus because it has not delivered everything they wanted.The question is not whether Republicans are perfect. 2026 was recorded as one of the hottest summers globally, with deadly heatwaves in Europe and catastrophic floods in Nepal. We discuss how the United Nations put out a report warning that current climate policies will lead to at least 1.8°C of global temperature increase, well beyond the 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement raising the alarm on global temperature rise. Also, California is reducing its natural gas consumption by increasing its solar energy battery energy storage and utility scale solar systems. Compared to the rest of the nation, in 2014 the state was producing 10 percent of the country's total gas-fired electricity, but by 2025 it was down to just 4 percent. Back in the states, the Fed raised interest rates by a quarter point for the first time since 2023. Congress had an unusually productive day: the House passed expanded Russia sanctions, voted to hold Leon Black in contempt for suing the committee that subpoenaed him rather than testifying about his Epstein ties, and the Senate blocked the crypto industry's self-written Clarity Act 50-49 — six votes short of passing — given the president's own ability to profit from crypto made it a tough sell even for some Republicans. Mitch McConnell returned for day two and nearly voted the wrong way on the farm bill before aides redirected him, which is either reassuring or alarming depending on how you look at it, but the bill passed and that's something. And Trump campaigned in North Carolina for Republican senate candidate Michael Whatley and told the crowd he would withhold FEMA disaster funding if Whatley loses, which is textbook extortion. Canadian prime minister, Mark Carney, has welcomed the EU's proposal for Canada to become the bloc's first ‘associate member', despite threats from Donald Trump over the plan. The US president said Washington could impose ‘very serious tariffs' or halt trade if the EU went ahead with the idea. But in a defiant speech to the European parliament, Carney called for ‘deep cooperation' and said polling showed the overwhelming majority of Canadians supported closer ties with Europe.
