Contact the radio station or leave a review on your favorite app. We want to hear from you! ### 1. Stewardship of our Time: “Redeeming the Time” Passage: Ephesians 5:15–17 (NKJV) “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” Principle: Every minute is a gift. We must “buy back” each hour from distractions by aligning our schedules with God's priorities—especially the Great Commission. ### 2. Wisdom in Planning: “The Plans of the Diligent” Passage: Proverbs 21:5 (NKJV) “The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty, to poverty.” Principle: Thoughtful, prayerful planning prevents wasted time and creates margin for gospel opportunities (e.g., inviting neighbors, mentoring new believers). ### 3. Counting Our Days: “Teach Us to Number Our Days” Passage: Psalm 90:12 (NKJV) “So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Principle: An eternal-perspective reminder that life is brief. When we internalize our limited hours, we'll prioritize what lasts—making disciples. ### 4. Purposeful Living: “Doing All to the Glory of God” Passage: 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NKJV) “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” Principle: Every task—work, rest, family time, evangelism—should be offered as worship. That reshapes even “routine” minutes into Kingdom service. ### 5. Prioritizing Prayer & Communion: “Jesus Prayed Early” Passage: Mark 1:35 (NKJV) “Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.” Principle: Jesus structured His day around communion with the Father—our ultimate source of wisdom for time management and disciple-making. ### 6. Eternal Urgency: “For What Is Your Life?” Passage: James 4:14 (NKJV) “Whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.” Principle: The fleetingness of life compels urgent obedience to the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19–20). ### 7. Single-Mindfulness: “Deny Yourself” Passage: Luke 9:23–24 (NKJV) “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.” Principle: Self-discipline in scheduling (saying “no” to lesser things) frees us to “lose” our lives in service—especially in making disciples. ### 8. Balance Work & Rest: “Six Days You Shall Labor…” Passage: Exodus 20:8–10,12 (NKJV) “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy…6 for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth…12 ‘Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long…'” Principle: Biblical sabbath—and honoring family—establish healthy rhythms that prevent burnout and protect time for disciple-care. ###9. Investing in Others: “Do Not Steal” (as Stealing Time) Passage: Ephesians 4:28 (NKJV) “Let him who stole steal no longer… but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.” Principle: Our work (and your time!) isn't just for self—but for generosity. Freeing up “spare” hours to invest in new believers. ### 10. The Great Commission as First Priority Passage: Matthew 28:19–20 (NKJV) “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always…” Principle: Every time-management decision must be filtered through: “Will this help me obey Jesus's command to make disciples?” **(00:00) END PART 1** **(27:00 – 5:00) BEGIN PART 2** ### Part 2: Practical Advice for Using Time to Be and Make Disciples ### 1. Begin with a Paradigm Shift: Time is Kingdom Currency • Time is not just something we “spend”; it's something we invest. Just like money, time can be stewarded for temporary or eternal purposes. • Regularly ask: “Is this activity helping me know Jesus more deeply or helping someone else follow Him better?” “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time…” (Ephesians 5:15–16) ### 2. Build Life Around Jesus's Priorities, Not Just Adding Him In • Many busy Christians are trying to fit Jesus into their schedule instead of building their schedule around Him. • Suggest starting with these 3 buckets and planning around them: • Time with God (Being a disciple) – prayer, Scripture, Sabbath, silence. • Time with others (Making disciples) – intentional meals, mentoring, small groups. • Time on mission (Living sent) – workplace witness, neighborhood engagement, volunteering. ### 3. Combine Your Calling With Your Calendar Help them redeem ordinary rhythms by integrating disciple-making into: • Meals – “Who can you eat with this week that needs encouragement or the gospel?” • Commutes – Use it for prayer, audio Bibles, check-in calls with mentees. • Family time – Lead short devotionals, model hospitality, include kids in ministry moments. • Work breaks – Strategic encouragement or follow-up with someone God's placed nearby. “Disciple-making doesn't always need new time blocks—it often needs intentionality in existing ones.” ### 4. Create a Disciple-Making Weekly Rhythm Encourage a simple rhythm: • Daily: Time with God, open eyes to opportunities. • Weekly: 1 relational touchpoint (e.g., coffee, call, prayer walk). • Monthly: One deeper investment (e.g., mentoring conversation, service together). • Quarterly: Retreat or reevaluation—Am I growing? Is anyone growing because of me? ### 5. Say No to Say Yes Help them see that every “yes” is a “no” to something else. • Challenge: “What are you doing that someone else could do, so you can do what only you can do?” • Sometimes the most spiritual thing they can do is decline a good thing for the sake of the best thing (Luke 10:41–42 – “Martha, Martha…”). ### 6. Use Tools with Intentionality • Calendar: Block time for people, not just tasks. • Alarms/reminders: Prompt prayer, Scripture, check-ins. • Apps: Bible apps, group chats for discipleship groups, accountability tools. • Notebooks or journals: Record prayers, disciple progress, insights from Scripture. ### 7. Don't Go Alone—Form a Band of Disciple-Makers • Encourage small discipleship bands of 2–4 people with shared goals and check-ins. • Ask: “Who's helping you follow Jesus better? Who are you helping?” • This builds encouragement, accountability, and shared momentum. ### 8. Encouragement: Grace Over Guilt, Progress Over Perfection • Remind them that they are not earning God's favor by being busy for Him. • Jesus is not measuring productivity; He's forming people. • Celebrate small, faithful steps. Even 5 minutes of prayer for someone is eternally significant. • God multiplies what we surrender, even if it's small (loaves and fish principle). “You may feel behind, but Jesus is not. He's patient, and He delights in every act of love in His name.” ### Challenge • “Imagine if every one of us made just one disciple this year.” • write one name they'll pray for or pursue this month. • You don't need more time—you need more focus and faith. **(5:00 – 1:00)** Doctrine Today Jesus and His Present Ministry The Holy Spirit's Role in Disciple Making. Dispensational Baptist view of the End Times Understanding Theology is Important The Gospel and Ongoing Disciple Making Church Role in Discerning God's Will Barriers to Disciple Making Spiritual Warfare Jesus – Incarnation God's Sovereignty Sin and the Call to Make Disciples I. Introduction: The Clear Call of Jesus • Matthew 28:18–20 (NKJV) “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…” • The Great Commission is not a suggestion, but a command. • Discipleship is not optional for the believer—it's our identity and mission. • Briefly affirm your audience's desire to follow Jesus more faithfully. II. The Nature and Consequence of Sin • Romans 3:23 (NKJV) “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” • Isaiah 59:2 (NKJV) “But your iniquities have separated you from your God…” • Hebrews 12:1 (NKJV) “Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us…” Key Points: • Sin is not just moral failure—it's a barrier to intimacy with God and others. • Sin entangles and weighs down believers, keeping us from active obedience. • Our mission to make disciples is spiritual warfare—sin compromises our witness, our clarity, and our power. III. Sin's Direct Impact on Discipleship A. It Weakens Our Witness • 1 Peter 2:11–12 (NKJV) “…abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, having your conduct honorable… that they may, by your good works… glorify God.” • Our credibility is tied to our character. Ongoing, unrepentant sin dulls our message. B. It Diminishes Our Passion • Revelation 2:4–5 (NKJV) “…you have left your first love. Remember… repent and do the first works.” • Sin numbs the heart. A lukewarm heart does not multiply disciples—it replicates complacency. C. It Breaks Fellowship and Unity • John 13:34–35 (NKJV) “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” • Sin disrupts love and unity, weakening the Church's witness and the environment in which disciples are formed. IV. Repentance and Restoration for Disciple Makers • 1 John 1:9 (NKJV) “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us…” • Psalm 51:10–13 (NKJV) “Create in me a clean heart… Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners shall be converted to You.” • Repentance is not the end of ministry—it's often the beginning of renewed fruitfulness. • David sinned greatly, but through repentance, his voice became a song of redemption that still disciples us today. V. Living Holy to Make Disciples Effectively • 2 Timothy 2:21 (NKJV) “Therefore if anyone cleanses himself… he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master…” • Holiness is not perfection, but readiness—an availability for God's use. • Personal holiness fuels spiritual authority and fruitfulness in disciple-making. VI. Conclusion: Renew the Mission • Luke 9:23 (NKJV) “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” • Philippians 2:15–16 (NKJV) “…shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life…” • The world needs disciples. The church needs disciple-makers. Jesus is still calling. • Let us repent where we've fallen, recommit where we've grown weary, and re-engage the mission with holy fire. **(1:00)** Busyness can suck that life out of you. Purpose 101.He explained that purpose refers to the reason why we were created. He went on to give us four principles of purpose from the book of Genesis Chapter 1:
You've been feeling like the weight of the world is on your shoulders, and yet you have no shoulders. And there is no world. Be(come) Light. Just for this moment, leave that body where it is, and be beyond 'here' with me. This is no longer 'be here now'. This is 'Be BEYOND here, now'. Because even 'here' is a concept. Even 'here' we are imagining. Here is not here. And you know what takes you beyond here? Hearing. What can you hear beyond here, beyond that room, that space you appear to be in? Listen for what's beyond it. As if everything you see is a veil, including 'you'. Come out, of that mind, of that form, in Jesus' Name. I Love you, nik Support the show! ▶▶https://www.patreon.com/goodmornings "I am the power that is in the body." - Sri Ranjit Maharaj "Be here now." - Ram Dass "Do you see that we as human beings in the flesh are still in the womb of creation? This is the womb; we haven't been born yet. When we come out of me, when me dies, and I is born, we are reborn of the Spirit. We begin our New Horizon. We see His universe instead of the world of our limited human minds. We see His universe where only harmony exists. We see with a Christ Mind, the reborn mind and we see what Is, instead of what we have imagined to be. We walk through the visions of this false mind and we see: His love, His peace, His truth, His universe, His creation, His being. We see God face to face. There is no God and me. There is no God and you. There never has been. Wo beginnt Leben, wo beginnt Bewusstsein? So far in this series from Judges 6 & 7, we see example of Gideon: Soley depending on God Being truly obedient to God and waiting to hear God's great encouragementIn this episode Pastor Jeff finishes his message that speaks about ‘staying off God's throne'.
Jesus' suffering and death on the cross has both infinite and eternal value for both God the Father as well as those trust in Christ as their Savior. According to Francis Schaeffer, “Christ's death in space-time history is completely adequate to meet our need for refuge from the true moral guilt that we have. It is final because of who He is. He is the infinite second person of the Trinity; therefore, His death has infinite value.”[1]Though Jesus suffered for our sins for only a few hours on the cross, His death had infinite and eternal value and saves forever those who trust in Him as Savior. Geisler states, “Being by nature the infinite God, Christ's death had infinite value, even though His suffering and death occurred in a finite amount of time. Time is not a mandatory measure of worth—birth, for instance, happens over a relatively short span but produces something of extraordinary value. One death in limited time achieved something of limitless value for all eternity.”[2] Paul Enns states, “At the heart of orthodox belief is the recognition that Christ died a substitutionary death to provide salvation for a lost humanity. If Jesus were only a man He could not have died to save the world, but because of His deity, His death had infinite value whereby He could die for the entire world.”[3] As a result of what Christ accomplished, there is great benefit for us who have trusted in Him as our Savior. By His work on the cross, Christians become the recipients of great blessings, both in time and eternity. Though He blesses some Christians materially (1 Tim 6:17-19), His main focus is on giving us spiritual blessings which are far better. Paul wrote that God “has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ” (Eph 1:3). According to Harold Hoehner, “Every spiritual blessing (eulogia) refers to every spiritual enrichment needed for the spiritual life. Since these benefits have already been bestowed on believers, they should not ask for them but rather appropriate them by faith.”[4] Some of the spiritual blessings mentioned in Scripture are as follows: We are the special objects of His love: “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom 5:8), and “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins” (1 John 4:10). We are forgiven all our sins: “When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross” (Col 2:13-14; cf. Eph 1:7; Heb 10:10-14). We are given eternal life: Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand (John 10:27-28; cf. John 3:16; 6:40; 20:31). We are made alive together with Christ: “God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ” (Eph 2:4-5). We are raised up and seated with Christ: God “raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Eph 2:6). We are the recipients of God's grace: “For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace” (John 1:16), “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast” (Eph 2:8-9). We are created to perform good works: “So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith” (Gal 6:10), and “We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them” (Eph 2:10; cf., Tit 2:11-4). We are given freedom in Christ: “It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery” (Gal 5:1), “For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another” (Gal 5:13; cf., 1 Pet 2:16). We are given a spiritual gift to serve others: “As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God” (1 Pet 4:10; cf. Rom 12:6-8; Eph 4:11). We are children of God: “See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are” (1 John 3:1a), “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus” (Gal 3:26). We are made ambassadors for Christ: “We are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God” (2 Cor 5:20). We are gifted with God's righteousness: “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Cor 5:21), “and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith” (Phil 3:9; cf. Rom 4:3-5; 5:17). We are justified before God: “Being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus…For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law” (Rom 3:24, 28), and “knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified” (Gal 2:16). We have peace with God: “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Rom 5:1). We will never be condemned: “He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:18), “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life” (John 5:24), “Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Rom 8:1). We are given citizenship in heaven: “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ” (Phil 3:20). We are transferred to the kingdom of Christ: “For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son” (Col 1:13; cf. Acts 26:18), and “walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory” (1 Th 2:12). We are all saints in Christ Jesus: we are “saints by calling” (1 Cor 1:2), and “saints in Christ Jesus” (Phil 1:1), and “are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household” (Eph 2:19). We are made priests to God: “He has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father—to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen” (Rev 1:6). We are God's chosen: “He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him” (Eph 1:4), “So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience” (Col 3:12). We are the recipients of His faithfulness: “He Himself has said, ‘I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you'” (Heb 13:5), and even “If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself” (2 Tim 2:13). We have been called to walk in newness of life: “We have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life” (Rom 6:4), and “walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love” (Eph 4:1-2). We are members of the Church, the body of Christ: “For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another” (Rom 12:4-5), and “He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all” (Eph 1:22-23; cf. Col 1:18). We are indwelt with the Holy Spirit: “Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” (1 Cor 3:16), “your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you” (1 Cor 6:19). We are sealed with the Holy Spirit: “having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise” (Eph 1:13b; cf. 2 Cor 5:5). We are enabled to walk with God: “I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh” (Gal 5:16), and “Since we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit” (Gal 5:25). We are empowered to live godly: “His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence” (2 Pet 1:3). We have Scripture to train us in righteousness: “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work” (2 Tim 3:16-17). We are guaranteed a new home in heaven: “In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:2-3). We are guaranteed resurrection bodies: “I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality” (1 Cor 15:51-53). We have special access to God's throne of grace: “Let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb 4:16). We will be glorified in eternity: “When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory” (Col 3:4), for Christ “will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself” (Phil 3:21). During our next two episodes, Dave catches up with Mike Hey in Salisbury (Adelaide's northern suburbs). Mike is a mature practitioner and is part of Operation Mobilisation's (OM) international leadership. Brief background Mike shares a little of his and his wife, Ann's background including serving with OM since the 1970's in India. Since then they have focused on catalysing disciple making amongst unreached people groups as the director of OM's ‘Doulos' ship, working amongst university students and serving in Asia for ten years. India Mike shares his association with Victor John (co-author of ‘Bhojpuri Breakthrough' with Dave Coles who has shared on this podcast*). He describes the paradigm shift that allowed Victor to embrace a movement of now millions in an area once known as one of the hardest places for mission. One of the keys for Victor was the question: ‘Who can you share this with?'. The Australian challenge “The church has locked the light inside the building.” Mike describes how the church in Australia needs to be turned inside out as we learn to seek God together for our city: “We are not just doorkeepers at the house, we are gatekeepers to the whole city.” You'll be inspired as you hear many stories of Mike connecting with and seeing people discipled by encouraging everyone to do three basic things - Pray, Bless and Disciple. Walking The idea and practice of walking is modelled by Mike as he lives by the motto: ‘Say what you do and do what you say' “You gotta walk with Jesus, walk with other friends of Jesus and together, work out how He wants you to walk in your sphere of influence.” We can disciple people by: Walking ahead (modelling) Walking beside (assisting) Walking behind (watching) Walking away (leaving) Slowing down, or 'walking' and making time for people is essential. Final encouragement Mike commits to doing three things every day: Being attentive to God Being together with others (asking God “What are you sending us to do?”) Being intentional to follow those instructions And so Mike finishes this episode by encouraging us to pause, abide and listen to Jesus. It's all about us finding our identity in Jesus and His identity in us. “Stay close to Jesus. Stay close to the cross. Step out your door and you'll have the joy of seeing Him work through you and connect you with people. You'll be surprised in the way he does it. Don't rush ahead, slow down and listen.” *Dave Coles previous podcast
Everyone - even those who utter it with contempt - uses the word 'God'. But we don't all use it in the same way. Indeed, you could argue that we talk past each other more often when we talk about God than when we talk about any other topic. So what do we mean when we talk about God? What does the word even mean? Is the God of the philosophers the same as the God of the religious? Or indeed the God of the atheists? In this week's episode, Nick Spencer speaks to philosopher and theologian David Bentley Hart about his book 'The Experience of God: Being, Consciousness, Bliss'

Trending with Timmerie - Catholic Principals applied to today's experiences.
Do you know someone who struggles with gender ideology? You may feel confused, conflicted, and not sure of how to show true compassion. You can get sound encouragement and advice in this podcast. In the clip of "Trending with Timmerie," the main focus is on the teachings of the Catholic Church regarding the body and soul, especially in the context of the contemporary gender identity crisis. Key points from Timmerie include: Identity Crisis: The modern world is facing an identity crisis where individuals are questioning their identities, beliefs, and purpose. There are some who hate their bodies and who God created them to be. This is not limited to the transgender community but is pervasive across different groups of people. The Body and Soul Unity Document: The San Francisco Archbishop Salvador Cordileone and Oakland Bishop Michael Barber released a joint document titled "Body and Soul Unity of the Human Person." It emphasizes the teachings of the Catholic Church on human sexuality, gender, marriage, and their implications for the gender crisis. Gender Ideology: The document acknowledges the rise of gender ideology in today's society. This ideology is seen as contrary to the Church's teachings as it denies aspects like male and female differences, the unity of body and soul, and the anthropological basis of the family. Body-Soul Unity: The Church emphasizes the unity of body and soul, asserting that one cannot be a different gender trapped in a body. The belief is that body and soul are created together at conception, making them inseparable. Image of God: Being male or female is seen as a divine creation and is viewed as a good, willed by God. The complementary nature of males and females is understood to reflect the Trinitarian nature of God. Challenge of Gender Ideology: The Church acknowledges the challenges faced by those struggling with their gender identity. While the Church stands by her teachings, it also stresses compassion and love towards everyone. Compassion vs. Approval: An essential distinction is made between being compassionate towards someone and approving of their choices or behavior. True compassion, according to the Church, involves both truth and charity. Guidance for those with Gender Dysphoria: For those experiencing gender dysphoria, the Church recommends approaching the issue with a combination of understanding the teachings of the Church, seeking genuine Christian charity, and focusing on the truth about the human person. The emphasis is on loving the person while not necessarily endorsing every choice or behavior.

“I feel like if I'm not fulfilling my purpose, I'd rather be dead”. Those are the words of Deb's very special guest, Nadine Joseph, Ph.D. In life, it is essential to have a purpose. A sense of purpose gives your life meaning and direction. Finding your purpose can mean different things to different people. For some, it can be as fundamental as taking care of their family and for others it may mean following their dreams and pursuing their passions. But fulfilling your purpose is not just about achieving a goal; it's about living a life that is meaningful and satisfying. It's about finding a way to contribute to the world around you and making a difference in the lives of others. Nadine Joseph, Ph.D. will share how she came to trust God and his purpose for her life. [00:01 - 09:35] Opening Segment Deb opens the episode with some questions on “finding your purpose”. As God's children, we simultaneously live and operate in two realms. Physically, we live in the material world that God created (though damaged by our sin), and it is here we spend our time learning, working, playing, resting, and touching the lives of those whom God places in our path. It is here we must advance by learning God's Word and living wisely in His will (2 Tim 2:15; 3:16-17; 1 Pet 2:2; 2 Pet 3:18). Making good choices from day to day—rooted in God's Word—is paramount to this life, as well as the one to come. As believers, we are to “seek first His kingdom and His righteousness” (Matt 6:33), and trust that “God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Phil 4:19). This requires faith (2 Cor 5:7; Heb 10:38; 11:6). But we also live in a spiritual realm that touches things real, but unseen. As Christians, we are to be led by God the Holy Spirit, to be “filled with the Spirit” (Eph 5:18), and to “walk by the Spirit” (Gal 5:16). Furthermore, we face attacks from the spiritual realm, as Paul warns us that “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Eph 6:12). As advancing Christians, we are to “be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding” (Col 1:9). And because the mind is the primary battleground, “We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ” (2 Cor 10:5). Knowledge of God and His Word provides a basis for living effectively in both the physical and spiritual realm. God's Word reveals He's provided us a portfolio of spiritual blessings that benefit us in this life and, if understood and applied, will result in great rewards in the eternal state (1 Cor 3:14-15; 2 Cor 5:10). Living in the dispensation of the church age, God has bestowed on us many good things. Since these benefits have already been bestowed on believers, they should not ask for them but rather appropriate them by faith.”[1]Warren Wiersbe states: "In the Old Testament, God promised His earthly people, Israel, material blessings as a reward for their obedience (Deut 28:1–13). Today, He promises to supply all our needs “according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Phil 4:19), but He does not promise to shield us from either poverty or pain. The Father has given us every blessing of the Spirit, everything we need for a successful, satisfying Christian life. The spiritual is far more important than the material."[2] Some of our spiritual blessings are as follows: We are the special objects of His love: “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom 5:8), and “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins” (1 John 4:10). We are forgiven all our sins: “When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, 14 having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross” (Col 2:13-14; cf. Eph 1:7; Heb 10:10-14). We are given eternal life: Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; 28 and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand (John 10:27-28; cf. John 3:16; 20:31). We are made alive together with Christ: “God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ” (Eph 2:4-5). We are raised up and seated with Christ: God “raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Eph 2:6). We are the recipients of God's grace: “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast” (Eph 2:8-9). We are created to perform good works: “We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them” (Eph 2:10). We are given freedom in Christ: “It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery” (Gal 5:1; cf. Gal 5:13; 1 Pet 2:16). We are given a spiritual gift to serve others: “As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God” (1 Pet 4:10; cf. Rom 12:6-8; Eph 4:11). We are children of God: “See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are” (1 John 3:1a; cf. John 3:6; Gal 3:26; 1 Pet 1:23; Tit 3:5). We are made ambassadors for Christ: “We are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God” (2 Cor 5:20). We are gifted with God's righteousness: “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Cor 5:21; cf. Rom 4:3-5; 5:17; Phil 3:9). We are justified before God: “Being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus…For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law” (Rom 3:24, 28). We have peace with God: “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Rom 5:1). We will never be condemned: “Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Rom 8:1). Acts 26:18; 1 Th 2:12). We are all saints in Christ Jesus: “So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household” (Eph 2:19; cf. Eph 1:18-19). We are made priests to God: “He has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father—to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (Rev 1:6). We are God's chosen: “He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him” (Eph 1:4; cf. Rom 8:29-33). We are the recipients of His faithfulness: “He Himself has said, ‘I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you'” (Heb 13:5; cf. Phil 1:6; 1 Th 5:24). We have been raised with Christ to walk in newness of life: “We have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life” (Rom 6:4; cf. Rom 6:10-13). We are members of the Church, the body of Christ: “For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, 5 so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another” (Rom 12:4-5), and “He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all” (Eph 1:22-23; cf. Col 1:18). We are indwelt with the Holy Spirit: “Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? (1 Cor 3:16; cf. 1 Cor 6:19). We are sealed with the Holy Spirit: “having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise” (Eph 1:13b; cf. 2 Cor 5:5). We are enabled to walk with God: “I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh” (Gal 5:16). We are empowered to live godly: “His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence” (2 Pet 1:3). We have Scripture to train us in righteousness: “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work” (2 Tim 3:16-17). We are guaranteed a new home in heaven: “In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. 3 If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:2-3). We are guaranteed resurrection bodies: “I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality” (1 Cor 15:51-53). We have special access to God's throne of grace: “Let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb 4:16). We will be glorified in eternity: “When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory” (Col 3:4), for Christ “will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself” (Phil 3:21) In these blessings from God we observe “the riches of His grace” (Eph 1:7). These are bestowed on us at the moment we trusted Christ as our Savior, and we come to know and appreciate them the more we study God's Word and grasp His goodness toward us. Such blessings are intended to motivate us to service, to live a life in appreciation for all God has done for us. With Paul, “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe” (Eph 1:18-19a). Tiffany Jo Baker joins us as we're digging into deepening your Christian faith during the fertility journey. Welcome to day #4 of our series on faith and fertility. When we are faced with a fertility diagnosis such as low AMH, high FSH, premature ovarian insufficiency, or diminished ovarian we may feel shocked, hopeless, lost, and overwhelmed. We may even question our body's ability to procreate. Today I'll be discussing how our faith can help us during our fertility journey. Because we can change our diet, improve our sleep, do all the latest tests to optimize our fertility, but it is equally important to work on our mindset and the belief that we are parents the moment we begin trying to conceive. Our Fab Fertile Method includes a mind, body spirit approach to fertility. All steps are necessary – not all at once – but layered in a personalized approach. Today I'm excited to welcome Tiffany Jo Baker. Tiffany Jo is part of my team at Fab Fertile. Tiffany Jo is a surrogate mom who has carried five babies for three families dealing with infertility and a wife of 21+ years to an extreme outdoorsman. She is a certified life, relationship, and corporate communication coach with a Master's Degree in Professional Counseling and over 20 years of marriage and family ministry experience. In this episode you'll learn: 1) How to deepen our connection to God during the fertility journey from an Islamic perspective 2) What to do if someone says it's God's plan, or God's revenge during the fertility journey 3) How does scripture help during the stages of grief 4) The rules around the Christian faith and how this can impact us (i.e. may not be able to utilize assisted reproduce technology) 5) How to make churches welcoming to a couple who is trying to conceive as there are many triggers (i.e. families, children, and pregnant bellies) 6) How serving others can help us when we are in the middle of struggle Excited that our LIVE Fertility Diet Challenge is launching on Nov 8th. You'll receive newly designed chef-prepared recipes (perfect for autumn and curated to optimize fertility). There will be daily motivation, guidance, and support from the Fab Fertile Team. This can feel stressful but is designed to help us get to the root cause of your fertility issues and will help me to give you the best possible action plan at the end of the call. However, to reassure you – on this call we won't be digging into the trauma associated with infertility/miscarriage/loss – rather we are focused on solutions and an ACTION PLAN as to how our Fab Fertile Method can help you get pregnant naturally. --- TIMESTAMPS: 05:06- INTRO TO TODAY'S EPISODE AND TIFFANY JO BAKER'S BIO 06:05- TIFFANY JO BAKER'S PERSONAL STORY OF BECOMING A SURROGATE MOM 07:52- HOW CAN WE DEEPEN OUR FAITH DURING THE FERTILITY JOURNEY? Style and Stewardship - Intentional Living, Spiritual Growth, Wellness, Nutrition, Lifestyle
Diversity is a beautiful thing! God has made us all in such unique and distinguishable ways. However, God made us for the same [ultimate] purpose. The variance of God's creation and the way were are made is a Beautiful thing. No two people are identical and God was purposeful when He created each of us. I believe we miss so much of who God is because we deny the worth and worthiness of His creation. Nature cries out in its beauty and incomprehensible wonder. The cells in our body, the hair on our head, the Galaxy, and everything we see and don't see… God Created. We can not comprehend the magnitude and Glory of our God nor can we deny it. In this episode, we touch on topics of: The Diversity of God's creation The varying grace of God Being a part of the church in very different ways Giftings and the purpose of them Purpose/ Identity Personal Conviction I just want to encourage you to really ponder the Glory of God. We all can think of some financial goals we want to meet (debt-repayment, emergency savings) and maybe we know what habits could get us there - but DOING it is the hard work. And I find it so helpful to hear what other people are doing and what it looks like in action in real life. Today I'm sharing the rest of my conversation with Bethany and Corey from the Millenial Mission Podcast about what their debt-free journey has been and in this part, they are sharing a lot about the habits they have formed and mindsets that have supported them in persisting and making an impact. Developing habits to pay off debt as a family Three changes that have made a big impact on lowering the debt Knowing what money is coming in and what is going out The debt snowball (coined by Dave Ramsey) The financial freedom a budget can bring you Weekly budget check-ins and monthly budget reviews Addressing the problem before it becomes a problem Spouses supporting one another in budget accountability What to do when you have a spouse who is not on the same page as you with the finances How debt repayment has impacted their marriage and parenting Not doing it perfectly Trusting God with finances, especially during the pandemic Making sacrifices as a family When you aren’t able to pay off debt and not giving up Surrendering your life and money to God Being intentional and faithful with finances and how that shows up in the other areas of your life Encouragement to just get started and get a system in place to know what you are doing with your money More resources Listen to the first part one: Starting the Debt-Free Journey How to Own Your Finances So They Don't Own You Download the free budget worksheet Find Bethany and Corey on Instagram Full transcript 0:08 Hey friends, it's Shawna, your nerdy girl and life coach from simple on purpose.ca. So welcome for those of you who are new to simple on purpose. This is a place that I just want to share tips and stories and encouragement for you to simplify your home, your heart and your life. And part of life is finances right, we would all like our finances to be simpler. And in the life on purpose workbook and the life on purpose roadmap, there's a section on finances, where you can set the goals and habits you want to have there. And I think all of us probably can think of the goals we want when it comes to our finances. We want debt repayment, we want emergency savings, we want retirement savings, and so on. And maybe some of us even have an idea on what habits will get us there. We know logically, we need to make a budget we need to cut expenses. But doing it putting it into action is a whole other situation. And I don't know about you, but when I am trying to create a new habit or make a change in my life, I find it so helpful to hear the experiences of other people. And that's why I wanted to interview Bethany and Corey from the millennial mission podcast. This is the second part of my conversation with Bethany and Corey. In the first episode, the first part of this interview, they share their story about making a big lifestyle change, they moved to a place where it was cheaper to live. And they started to take actions to pay off their debt. And in this episode, they're sharing more practical tips about budgeting about working together. Because that is really helpful information we want to see like what does it look like in action as a couple as a family. But as we all know, this isn't just about numbers. This is about so much more. And Bethany and Corey they also share how it seeped into all of the rest of their life. How trusting God with their finances, turned into trusting God with their life and being intentional with their money, created an atmosphere where they really wanted to be intentional with their life. When we recorded this episode in December,

In the JOURNEY WITH MARY we reflected on “Dedicated and Consecrated to God ” – choosing God above everyone and everything else. Have you finished the reflection and reading? How do you feel? This is the 6th Episode titled “NECESSITY TO BE SILENT AND IN SOLITUDE LIKE MARY: to be attuned to the promptings of the Spirit. God made us in His image and after our birth, the world changed our image and made us in its own image. Silence and solitude is the factory where we can get back to the original identity – humans as God's companions and friends and not enemies! Revelation 3:20 “Listen! I am standing at the door, knocking; if you hear my voice and open the door, I will come into you and eat with you, and you with me.” - Different levels of beings – God & Man Like the ecological pyramid - Need to raise awareness - mindset - thinking has to be changed - the thinker has to separate himself from his thoughts / thinking - identification with one's own thoughts creates problems A teacher thinks like a teacher In other words, to be a teacher is to think like a teacher! A police like a police A doctor like a doctor Therefore, we need to put on the hat of the divine to think like God Philippians 2:5 “Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus” Elijah Meets God at Horeb Ahab - Jezebel all that Elijah 1 Kings 19:11-13 11 He said, “Go out and stand on the mountain before the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Now there was a great wind, so strong that it was splitting mountains and breaking rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of sheer silence. 13 When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. Then there came a voice to him that said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” - There's a need to be attuned to God - Being in the present moment - Being in the HERE AND THE NOW Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God! - Silence and solitude – depth, darkness, and silence - Silent of the body and mind - Solitude of the body and mind Solitude: Vs Loneliness Today more than ever human beings are lonely, though busy with people virtually through the social media, but in reality, we are going away from oneself and others. - The more we are with people and less with oneself - will become one of them - will lose the individuality For more information (Questions & Biblical Passages) visit the blog, by clicking the link: https://frcgeorgemclaret.blogspot.com/2020/11/journey-with-mary-episode-6-6-necessity.html Link for Karl Rahner's views: file:///C:/Users/hp/Downloads/1900-Article%20Text-3186-1-10-20120724.pdf --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/greatergloryofgod/message

Matthew 4:4 says, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God” Being saturated in prayer isn't a religious routine, or meant to be something that's unnatural for people. Being saturated in prayer is living a life that's in union with God. God not only love you, He likes you and wants to be with you! We hope you are encouraged as you listen to this week's podcast! Today we begin the Sadhana Pada, the path of the discipline of Yoga. Patanjali says, there are 3 things you can do to begin the process: 1. Tapa: Raise the energies for change, requiring an open mindset, allowing the old to go and the new to arrive. 2. Self-study: Remaining aware of oneself in every moment. Watching actions, thoughts, feelings and every movement that happens in one's consciousness. 3. Surrender to God: Being in deep harmony with existence. ====== Join me in a 30 min meditation session every day at 7 AM CET on my website: https://www.dhyanse.com/live/ Each session is unique, starts with a 5-10 min discourse, followed by 20 min Guided Meditation. How does your team show up for work? How do you show up? Gary Hamel believes people leave their gifts of creativity and daring at home because it is not encouraged. He joins Kevin to discuss why he thinks organizations have been incapacitated by their lack of humanity. Gary is the author of The Future of Management (2007) and his latest book, with Michele Zanini, Humanocracy: Creating Organizations as Amazing as the People Inside Them. He shares data about the increase in bureaucracy in organizations and the decline of productivity growth. In short, the old model is not working and organizations need to think about the human element. Further, people at all levels can make change where they are and building community is a good place to start. It is in Isaiah 53 that we finally learn why the Strong Arm of the Lord, His Messiah, must be humiliated and die - it is in the place of His people whom He will redeem-----Our crimes are laid on Jesus, and He is punished by God in our place on the cross.----By Christ's chastisement, He brought us peace- Not peace like the world gives, but peace with God. There is no condemnation left for our sin before God- Being justified by faith in Jesus' death for us, we have peace with God.----But Isaiah continues- -by His stripes we are healed.- Some wrongly claim that Jesus' death guarantees physical healing for His people today, but Peter explains the true meaning. And yet, in a sense, in the end, Christ's reconciliation of His people to God will result, one day soon, in the removal of all pain and suffering and death, so that Christ's death does heal us all at the end.----The Spirit of Christ in Isaiah then tenderly describes the sins of His people when He likens us to -sheep who go astray and turn every one to his own way.-----In this way, our true state is portrayed- we are rebellious, stubborn, and disobedient. And yet we are portrayed as sheep - His sheep, whom He will surely rescue-----Indeed, we will not obey - we cannot obey, because of the sin nature and the corruption of the fall. In that, we are like sheep - we will wander out of the pasture and into the brambles to investigate what looks appealing to us - only to fall into a ravine, or become lost, or be torn apart by wolves.----But all that disobedience, God laid on Jesus, and punished Him for it.----Note well that Christ does not flog us or beat us for going astray. No, He bore all the punishment for us-

Steve DeNeff - Luke 2:8-12; Philippians 2:5-11. To humble ourselves and obey is the nature of God: “Being in very nature God . . . he made himself nothing and took the very nature of a servant . . . (then) he humbled himself, and became obedient,” (Phil. 2:6-8). This is not only Jesus’ humanity; it’s ours at its best. It’s who we are and who we want to be.
Some of us extinguish all possibilities before even understanding what we are leaving behind. Flourish in faith and leave behind that which is not yours to receive. You can reason out what you think you deserve. But God decides what gifts He bestows upon you even before you get to that point in time. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://facebook.com/groups/thewomenofimpact But somehow we stifle what is suppose to be ours before the opportunity is presented. Unfair and stupid. Do you really think you know better than God? Being honest, I don't think it's a matter of knowing we're better. It's more a thought process that we think we are doing what He desires for us. We just miss the mark...too many times. Why is all of our concern wrapped up in what others see in us, rather than what God sees? The practice of how you see yourself through God's eyes is hard to achieve. In fact, it's not about achieving it, but focusing on it daily. Flourish in faith! The K.I.S.S. ~ Flourish in faith! Show up when you don't want to. Give up when you are directed. Look up as your Father knows best. God wants you to step out into the great unknown and trust that He's got you! All of you!! He will equip you with exactly what you need when you need it. His layers of love and grace go much deeper than what we can see. Flourish in faith! Rise and shine into the valley of the unknown and walk with the full confidence that God conquered this path. Flourish in faith! God's goodness is beyond our comprehension here on earth, but He's given us the opportunity to experience it beyond measure. Expect the unexpected. Rise and shine with a heart ready for greatness and a mind willing to seek. More Than a Song - Discovering the Truth of Scripture Hidden in Today's Popular Christian Music
In difficult seasons of life we often seek to know "why," or even blame someone or something as if it makes it all better. This week's song "Thy Will" by Hillary Scott is a moving ballad of surrender to the will of a God we can trust. I use this song to introduce us to Hagar, who had to do a little submitting to God's will herself. I find it so interesting that Hagar gets to name God in this section of God's Word. On this episode I discuss: Taking a B.I.T.E. out of Scripture - our Bible Interaction Tool Exercise this week is: Journal your dialogue with God Being in a situation where you thought God led you, but now you are just broken and hurt The story behind why Hillary Scott hasn't shared what the song is about for her - You Tube Video Potential areas of Scripture that this song might lead - Matthew 6, Luke 11 The promise of God to Abram without the "how" or "when" details we all long for - Genesis 15:5-6 Introduction to Hagar, servant of Sarai in Genesis 16 How it ended up that Hagar was pulled into Abram and Sarai's story - Genesis 16:2 From conception to contempt - Genesis 16:3-4 How Sarai was hoppin' mad at the consequences of her own choices - Genesis 16:5-6 Some messages by Beth Moore that helped me understand this section better - The God Who Sees God's tendency to ask us questions to draw into dialogue with Him - Genesis 16:7-9 God's call for submission along with a promise - Genesis 16:10-12 The part where Hagar names God - Genesis 16:13 Additional Resources Lyrics and the story behind the song - Taste of Country This Week's Challenge Read Genesis 16 and try this week's Bible Interaction Tool Exercises of journaling your dialogue with God based on the questions posed to Hagar in verse 8. Then, if God gives you direction, follow it...submit to His authority over your life. You can trust Him.

Waiting on the Lord. Bilingual message in Spanish from Vivian Cuenca, interpreted to English by Alejandro Fernandez. Outline, notes and scripture from the message: Psalms 147:11 The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, In those who hope in His mercy. https://www.bible.com/bible/114/PSA.147.11.NKJV There are different ways of waiting. 1. There are those who wait "impatiently" Psalms 42:11 Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God. https://www.bible.com/bible/114/PSA.42.11.NKJV 2. There are those who wait "patiently" Psalms 40:1 I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry. https://www.bible.com/bible/114/PSA.40.1.NKJV We need to be prepared to wait on the Lord. How do we get prepared for waiting? - Praying and believing that the God who saved us hears our cries - Studying the word of God - Being faithful and trusting in the Lord - We must persevere in the Lord If we are prepared when the difficult moments come, we will know how to react to them What are we thinking while we wait? Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. Psalms 147:11 The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, In those who hope in His mercy. Psalms 44:6-7 For I will not trust in my bow, Nor shall my sword save me. But You have saved us from our enemies, And have put to shame those who hated us. What happens while we wait? 1. Our enemy will try to bring confusion while we wait Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” 2. Our enemy may try to show us quick solutions which will be wrong for us Psalms 31:6 I have hated those who regard useless idols; But I trust in the Lord. 3. While we wait, many questions are going to pop into our minds. Psalms 38:15 For in You, O Lord, I hope; You will hear, O Lord my God. 4. While we wait, we often become impatient and wonder how long we should wait. Psalms 71:14 But I will hope continually, And will praise You yet more and more. ___ 1 John 5:14-15 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. https://www.bible.com/bible/114/1JN.5.14-15.NKJV

The Holiday Season can be joyful and/or stressful, which means this is a time when silence remains as important as ever. Join us for this special episode where Cassidy, Kevin and Carl talk about how we nurture a contemplative dimension to our holiday experience, without getting moralistic or legalistic about silence, but also retaining a sense of just how vital silence is to us at this time of the year. In this episode, we explore how silence is devalued in our culture (and why we need to resist that cultural prejudice), the relationship between silence and intentionality, how "letting go" is a portal into silence, the danger of "the materialism of information," how the spiritual concept of incarnation takes us outside of our comfort zone, how the body is our best friend for surviving the holidays, and much more. When we name silence, we lose it... As soon as we touch the word urgency to the lips of silence, we lose a sincere intimacy. So how do we maintain silence as urgent and important in our lives without making it legalistic, or precisely what it isn't? — Cassidy Hall Some of the resources and authors we mention in this episode: Marvin C. Shaw, The Paradox of Intention Thomas Merton, Literary Essays Ernest Wood, A Zen Dictionary Lao-Tzu, Tao Te Ching Caryll Houselander, The Reed of God Pico Iyer, The Art of Stillness Gerald May, Will and Spirit: A Contemplative Psychology Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back Thomas Keating, Open Mind, Open Heart: The Contemplative Dimension of the Gospel Meister Eckhart, The Complete Mystical Works The Zen Proverb ("Quit Trying; Quit Trying Not to Try; Quit Quitting") shows up in: Carl McColman, Answering the Contemplative Call And one more book that this episode makes us think of: David Bentley Hart, The Experience of God: Being, Consciousness, Bliss You actually have to stop trying... if you attempt to be silent, if you make it an urgent goal, well then you never get there, silence never actually comes, there has to be kind of a letting go. — Kevin Johnson Kevin Johnson is a university professor, writer, speaker, and retreat leader based in Connecticut. Cassidy Hall is a writer, photographer, and filmmaker based in Los Angeles. Carl McColman is an author, catechist, and retreat leader based in Atlanta. Episode 3: Encountering Silence During the Holidays Hosted by: Cassidy Hall With: Kevin Johnson and Carl McColman Date Recorded: December 19, 2017 Note: our next episode will be released on or about January 3, 2018. In the meantime, we wish you a merry Christmas (or the joyful observance of the holiday of your tradition) and a very happy new year.
Spend some time praying for clarity regarding your spiritual health. Read 1 Peter 2:4-5 • Notice the term “living”. The house God builds is alive and filled with life. • Consider what it means to be a “holy priesthood”. How does this change our identity and actions? • What does it mean to offer spiritual sacrifices? How do those sacrifices find expression in a church setting? Throughout scripture, God’s people and the church find definition through biological metaphors and references. Let us do a spiritual health checkup today using those ideas. • Movement – Living things move and respond. How are we moving and responding to the Lord and the world around us? • Respiration – Living things breathe. Prayer is breathing in God’s Spirit and exhaling God’s will. How are we doing with this? • Sensitivity – How aware are we of God’s work around us? • Growth – All things grow and change. Are we? • Reproduction – Disciples make disciples. Who are you discipling? • Elimination – Repentance is required to stay healthy. • Nutrition – What we take in matters to our health. Are we taking in the things of God? Being a Living Stone connects us to other Living Stones as God works among us. How’s your spiritual health? How can increase health here?
Every one of us has dreams about what our "fun money" can do for us. We can set it aside for big things like a house, cars, or vacations, and we can spend it on smaller things--like Airliner pizza and Hawkeye game tickets! And, sometimes we give our money away to a good cause. But did you know that the people in the Bible who were the most generous with their money and their stuff were the ones who were the most connected to God? Being connected to God's love inspired them to make God's dreams come true--and that often involved using their money to help others.
Are you guarding your heart? Are you pouring your heart out to everyone else instead of God? Being vulnerable can be dangerous, especially if you're being vulnerable with seasonal people, or with people who have a toxic relationship with you. In this episode we discuss the dangers, the warning signs, and how to be vulnerable when appropriate.
