Just a heads up! There were some audio issues at the start BUT I think I managed to fix them & boost our voices up at the moment i noticed through the remainder of the episode. Should be ok :) I was very nervous going into this episode since it's been close to 4 months since my last episode but my guest Tiffany Lockheart was really incredible and eased my worries. In this episode, you can listen to me and Tiffany get to know each other from her early gaming start to her love of Resident Evil 2, start into streaming alongside her surprising length of time spent playing Final Fantasy XIV! Learn about her awards show that she puts on, the interactions she's had with multiple voice actors, alongside fighting games, the last Nintendo Direct, what she loves about conventions, comics and so much more! This was really such a fun chat and I absolutely want to have her on again for future episodes :D. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/cosplaybytes/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/cosplaybytes/support
Florence Lockheart is the editor of Classical Music Magazine, the only magazine and website dedicated to the classical music industry in the UK. A Classics graduate from Durham University, Florence has always had a strong interest in classical music, which she nurtured over the years through both choral singing and training as a solo singer. Editor of the magazine since late 2021, her passion for both the artform and the industry is palpable, and she continues to develop CM's role as a trusted resource for the classical music world. In this episode, Florence spoke about what her role as an editor entails, and shared some insightful tips on how to conduct an interview (duly noted by yours truly). She also spoke about the joy she found in working on a cover feature about Maestro, the 2023 Bernstein biopic, and having difficult conversations involving the breaking of bad news to fellow creatives during the pandemic.-------------------Classical Music:WebsiteInstagramX (formerly Twitter)Facebook-------------------Follow The Classical Circuit on InstagramDid you enjoy this episode? Mark joins the show to chat about his new album, Smiling. Joining the show is Olivia Cuttill as a guest host. Saxophonist and composer Mark Lockheart first came to prominence in the mid 1980s with the influential big band Loose Tubes. In 1992 Mark formed the eclectic co-led quartet Perfect Houseplants, a group that released six albums and collaborated with classical artists such as the Orlando Consort, Andrew Manze and Pamela Thorby. The mid-90s saw Mark recording and performing with many jazz, folk and pop artists, including Django Bates, Kenny Wheeler, Norma Winstone, June Tabor, Stereolab, Jah Wobble, Robert Wyatt, Prefab Sprout, Don Um Romao, Thomas Dolby and Radiohead. In 2003 Mark joined Seb Rochford's Polar Bear, which over a period of 12 years recorded six ground-breaking albums. The band's second album, Held On The Tips Of Fingers, was nominated for the 2005 Mercury Award and later appeared in Jazzwise's 100 Albums That Shook the World. The band's fifth album, In Each And Every Way, was also nominated for a Mercury Award in 2013. In 2007 Mark was a featured soloist (along with John Pattitucci and Gwilym Simcock) in Mark Anthony Turnage's About Water, which premiered on the Southbank in June 2007. Mark collaborated several times more with Turnage, performing his A Man Descending with the Southbank Sinfonia in 2008 and more recently as one of the featured musicians in Turnage's opera Anna Nicole, which premiered at the Royal Opera House in London in 2011. In 2009 Mark's quintet album In Deep was released to critical acclaim. The following year saw the release of Mark's first big band album Days Like These with the Hamburg-based NDR big band. That same year Mark was awarded APPJC Parliamentary Jazz Musician of the Year 2010. In 2013 Mark released Ellington In Anticipation, a radical reworking of Ellington melodies with an all-star line up including Seb Rochford and Liam Noble. The album received numerous four and five-star reviews and was MOJO magazine's Jazz Album of 2013 and nominated as Best Jazz CD of 2013 by the APPJC at the 2014 Parliamentary Awards. An invitation to perform at the New York Rochester Jazz Festival in 2014 led to the formation of Mark's trio, Malija, with bassist Jasper Hoiby and pianist Liam Noble. Malija's debut album The Day I Had Everything was released in December 2015 to critical acclaim. The group's second album Instinct was released in 2017 followed by a 21-date tour. In 2016 Mark was awarded Jazz FM Instrumentalist of the Year and also nominated for the British Composer Awards for his composition With One Voice. A few years later saw the birth of two very contrasting projects , the jazz/orchestral work titled Days On Earth for jazz sextet and 30-piece orchestra, released on Edition Records in January 2019 and a set of English Renaissance music ‘Salvator Mundi' recorded at Temple church in London with organist Roger Sayer.mosaic: Exploring Jewish Issuesmosaic is Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County's news magazine show, exploring Jewish...Listen on: Apple Podcasts SpotifySupport the show

We always love having Keith Lockheart, Conductor of the Boston Pops, in studio with us to talk about The Holiday Pops! This year is a special one... it's the 50th Anniversary of the Boston Pops!
Does dream sharing increase empathy and insight? Today meet two English professors who say, "Yes it does!" The Science and Art of Dreaming is their new book. This is a replay from a popular episode recorded in March. Mark starts out by talking about the innocence of dreams and how they tell the truth, even though we often can't recognize it. Julia suggests we can look at dreams as our own art work. Together they describe their process in which Mark guides the discussion of a dream while Julia creates a drawing around the dream on pages torn from Freud's famous book, The Interpretation of Dreams. Mark describes his research which shows that (1) dream sharing increases empathy of group members and (2) people who are high in empathy are more attracted to dreamwork than those who are not. He also touches on human self-domestication and shares recent work suggesting that dream sharing might have been an important part of that process. We take three callers. First John from Santa Cruz describes that he feels sensations in dreams like thorns prickling but not body blows. Steve Popp from the Garden Show then shares a dream about a hooded black cobra lying in square coils. Finally we take a call from Ray of Santa Cruz who dreamt of being chased by a giant bear at Stonehenge. Why do we dream? It's one of the biggest questions about dreaming. One theory is that dream sharing is essential to the social development of our species because it helps create empathy. In this episode, Laura and Dave talk to Professors Mark Blagrove and Julia Lockheart about their new book, The Science and Art of Dreaming, in which they share the development of their theory of dream sharing and empathy. They also talk about their collaboration on DreamsID, their series of live events in which Mark leads an exploration of an audience member's dream while Julia paints images and narratives from the dream onto the pages of Freud's The Interpretation of Dreams. We will be hosting DreamsID at CCPE in Little Venice, London on 15 July, 2023. Info and tickets at Eventbrite. For "Dream of the Week", Mark and Julia talk about a couple of dreams from their book, “The Dream of Unfair Blame” and “The Dream of ‘Where is my Home?'”, sharing additional details about the dream telling and the dreamer. Alisa read Conversations With Friends by Sally Rooney, a well-told story about two couples who swing, which had the same characteristic “Rooney” style that Alisa loved so much in Normal People. And Josie read The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, and she can't believe it took her so long to read this excellent book. Important, timely, and just a fine story in and of itself, Josie believes that it should be required reading in high schools.

I think I should borrow the #hashtaghistory term of hasty history for this episode. From finding this historical marker and recording was about two hours, and part of that time was me getting a coffee. Some recent life experiences, and reading I had done heavily directed where this went. I don't think I will be this hasty again as I am not sure it was all together one thought, my apologies. Below are the links to my research and on Instagram there will be some pretty pictures. Don't forget to check out Klaire Lockheart who is mentioned in the start of this episode. On this episode, you'll hear from Timka Lockheart, a Georgia native and proud graduate from Alabama A&M University who ended up on Wall Street for her first job out of college and eventually with an MBA from Wharton. As the only Black woman on her team as a first-year analyst, Timka had to quickly learn the ropes and come to grips with her insecurities to perform at a high level. Today, Timka works as a Career Coach helping young professionals make "courageous leaps" and she spills the tea on how she made some of her own leaps.
When your eyes become open to such a bizarre inconceivable world, can you ever truly go back to what you knew before? In this psychological mystery, we follow Lockheart who is tasked with going to Switzerland to bring back an executive from a wellness facility. However, what transpires is much more than a simple mission and it may just involve a lot of eels. A film that has so much to offer from set designs, overall shots, and tension building that it's a shame it wasn't more recognized. As always, there are some things that just seem to drag on but as long as you don't drink the water, everything will be alright.

Over the years, there has been a wave of victims of sexual misconduct coming forward and telling their stories in the entertainment industry, and now that wave is hitting the gaming industry. With recent allegations coming to light, will gaming companies react with justice or try to bury the allegations with excuses? In this episode we also delve into the high costs of making video games and the contrast that sometimes has on content - is it more valuable to a consumer to have a huge game with tons of content and a mediocre story, or is it more valuable to have less content with a top tier story experience? We then break into Xbox's future plans with Series X and the possible "Lockheart" model that is rumored to be announced. Check back every Monday for new episodes and be sure to subscribe and leave a review.

Join Miss Art World and Klaire Lockheart for this fun feminist episode. Klaire is a feisty artist who uses traditional oil painting techniques to critique historical injustices in the traditional Western art world. She has lived in South Dakota since she earned her MFA from the University of South Dakota, and she is currently the Artist in Residence at the Vermillion Area Arts Council. Lockheart enjoys using the human form as a vehicle to communicate the agency of her subjects with viewers, especially since women artists were historically prohibited from studying live models and making historic paintings. In addition to addressing femininity and feminism within her artwork, Lockheart enjoys incorporating humor to make serious subjects approachable. She also enjoys celebrating the accomplishments of women, and she is the South Dakota artist for the national Her Flag collaborative artwork. Her recent solo exhibitions include Feminine Attempts at the Sioux City Art Center in Sioux City, IA; A is for Apron at the Ritz Gallery in Brookings, SD; and Ladylike Representations at Gallery 120 in Inver Grove Heights, MN. https://www.klairelockheart.com

This week we explore 'pandemic dreaming' - a phenomenon where people around the world, experiencing lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic, have reported an uptick in incidences of dreaming and more vivid dreams. We talk to two academics who, for several years have been undertaking an art/science project, DreamsID in which individuals recall a dream, which is then transformed in real time to a work of art. We talk about some of the reasons behind 'Covid dreams', art, symbolism and metaphors, an overview of contemporary theories of dreams' functions, and explore new theories of how the act of sharing dreams may strengthen social bonds by increasing feelings of empathy. This episode's guests: Mark Blagrove is a Professor of Psychology at Swansea Univeristy. He studies the relationship between sleep and cognition, including effects of sleep loss, memory consolidation functions of sleep, causes and possible functions of dreaming, nightmares, and lucid dreams. There is a Ghoul in the attic (or is it Grandma?) And the black market's saturated with body parts this week as the Readers make their way through book 2. Doug waxes philosophical about Colin Creevy's place in the narrative and Robb draws little hearts around Lockheart's name. Death Readers theme "Magical Dirt" by Sir Cubworth
We're already on the 7th chapter of our second Harry Potter book and we can't wait to talk about.... The Avengers? We may have made it through "Mudbloods and Murmurs" from the Chamber of Secrets but at this point we hadn't yet made it through 'Avengers: Endgame' so while we do go in depth about the chapter, Myke also can't help but be distracted. Don't worry, we still talk about why Lockheart, who is an imposter, doesn't have imposter syndrome, how Hagrid is like Shrek, and fake racism in a world full of real racism! If there's anything coming up in this book that you want us to talk about on air, email us your questions - either written or recorded - to magiclessmyke@gmail.com, or tweet us @magiclessmyke and follow us on Insta @magiclessmyke!
