Special investigator Gary Revel discusses his inquiry into the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. The fascinating story of his investigation and what he unearthed became the inspiration for the original song, They Slew the Dreamer was briefly included in his recent book, To Live or Maybe Not. Now, his remarkable journey is being developed into a motion picture, They Slew the Dreamer: MLK-The Gary Revel Story. Gary Revel, whose extraordinary history of investigations into the killings of MLK, JFK and RFK make him a compelling guest. Revel is also a songwriter, musician and author. “The worst times in our lives are often roads to the best times, waiting ahead. Stay safe and prayerful, as you find your way into tomorrow.” – Gary Revel A single bullet silenced the voice, but not the dream, of Martin Luther King Jr. on April 4, 1968. Whether or not James Earl Ray pulled the trigger and why has been the subject of speculation for more than five decades. In 1977, 27-year-old special investigator Gary Revel, in association with the House Select Committee on Assassinations, launched his own search for the unvarnished truth about King's assassination. Danger, intrigue and murder followed. Revel's journey took him into Brushy Mountain Prison, where he met and became a personal confidant to the accused assassin, James Earl Ray. From there, Revel followed the clues wherever they led, including Memphis, Tennessee; New Orleans, Louisiana; Miami, Florida; and other undisclosed locations. Along the way, Revel had to navigate chaotic twists and turns as he uncovered information pointing to what he refers to as the involvement of organized crime and the highly placed people in the U.S. government. Revel also lost his younger brother and an associate to murder during his investigation. The captivating story of his investigation and what he unearthed is now being developed into a feature motion picture, They Slew the Dreamer: MLK-The Gary Revel Story. Revel's quest for the truth also became the inspiration for the song, “They Slew the Dreamer,” and is introduced in his book, To Live or Maybe Not. More than 30 years after his investigation into Martin Luther King Jr.'s death, Revel continues to “shine the light of truth into the darkest halls of injustice”; and finds he can't quit until the world knows what he found. Songwriter, musician, author and special investigator Gary Revel was born in Florala, Alabama, and he formed his first band when he was 15. In the midst of a promising career in music, Revel found himself investigating the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. in association with the U.S. government's House Select Committee on Assassinations. Revel continues to release and distribute music via his Jongleur Music company as well as developing motion pictures via his Jongleur Pictures company. He is also the author of My Angel from Heaven, Milestones, Grempk and Don't Stop Dancing: Stranger Than Fiction, his investigation into the life of Michael Jackson. Gary is also founder of Mother Nature Festival Live Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation. For more information, please visit http://garyrevel.com/. One of the goals of our spiritual journey of yoga is cultivating peace of mind. Only a disciplined mind can seek this eternal truth, but disciplining your subconscious can take years and years of practice. Unfortunately, we can’t just run away to a cave and meditate without distraction. We have to interact with others and ourselves, and sometimes our own thoughts and feelings can be our biggest distraction. This is where the tool of self-observation comes in. Self-observation is the practice of bringing your attention inward and observing what you think, feel, and do without judgment. During self-observation, you will neutrally and silently describe the thoughts, feelings, or emotions that arise throughout a meditative practice. Self-observation uses the dichotomy between the state of judgment and the state of discernment to teach yogis how to observe themselves from a neutral perspective. What is the difference between judgment and discernment? I answer that question with an example from a Zen Buddhist parable you may have heard already called “Maybe So, Maybe Not”. In this story, a farmer’s son loses his one and only horse only to have that horse return three days later with three more horses. The father, a meditator, does not react when his horse goes missing, nor when the horse returns, reminding us that it does not change things to react emotionally, nor do things change when we apply judgment values to them. Only without reaction can you see reality clearly. For example, when you act with judgment, your behavior has an emotional tinge impacted by past experiences that are influencing your current value judgments. This tinge impacts the way you see reality. Practicing self-observation can help you break away from reactionary judgments and reach the state of discernment where you can see reality more clearly. I never learned more about myself and my strong opinions than when I started on this spiritual journey of yoga. These were hard lessons to learn, but they helped me to remember that mindfulness practice like this doesn’t have to be serious. Yes, this is a serious spiritual journey, but you can cultivate a little bit of curiosity and whimsy, too! As you learn new things about the practice and about yourself as well, you’re going to experience a wide variety of emotions. Don’t judge yourself. Practice being in a state of discernment by becoming curious and tuning in to this special episode of the Yoga Inspiration Podcast. What lessons have you learned about yourself on the yoga mat? Send an email at info@kinoyoga.com. You could be invited to guest spot on The Yoga Inspiration Podcast. Y respondes No.” .

#013// Are you a Goals Girl? Or a Goals Guy? Do you just LOVE goals? Does part of your process at the beginning a year involve sitting down and devising a whole set of S.M.A.R.T. goals? I used to be a HUGE Goals Girl. My background is in accounting and taxation. I went to school for a BA in business administration with a minor in accounting, and then went on to earn a Masters of Science in taxation. During my thirteen year career in the marketplace, I worked jobs where specificity, precision and measurement were highly valued.I'm a Type A, you guys! I'm an Enneagram 1w2 -- a "Reformer" type. So I really love rules and process and and analytics and all that sort of stuff. And I spent every minute of my time in my marketplace jobs celebrating goals, requiring them to be set and followed by my teams, and living and dying by them all along the way. Until, one day a few years ago, when I was sitting with the Lord in a prayer time, and I felt him ask me this question: "Erica, are goals my best for you?" Right then and there, I realized . . . Maybe Not. And I went on a journey into the Bible to see what God really has to say about goals and what truly is his best for me.Is this topic piquing your interest? Have you been wondering if goals are really helping you to live an "on purpose" life that bears fruit and feels fulfilling? If so, I want you to come along on this journey of an episode today. Grab your journal and a pen . . . and Let's Go!

Gary Revel's story maybe too impossible to be believed. Revel was a musician who'd gone to Vietnam and made it home, worked in military intelligence and rocked out in the Haight and in the the legendary L.A scene of the late 1960's. How does that guy also end up as an investigator on the assassination of Martin Luther King? Well, you'd need to buy Gary's new book "To Live or Maybe Not."

"Maybe So, Maybe Not" is a new podcast from Yoshi Barrigas under the BarrigaPod podcast network! While future episodes will be tangential in form and vary in subject, today Yosh breaks down Phish's live performance from 02/21/20 at Moon Palace in Cancun, Mexico. Who is Phish? Phish is the most accomplished jam band with the most dedicated fan base of all time, rivaled only by The Grateful Dead. What is a jam band? What's it all about? You don't need to know Phish intimately to enjoy this. Yosh will walk you through the lore of Phish, how they've revolutionized the concert experience, and just what might be going on within the interplay of the band, and how 'listening' is used as the highest expression in the pursuit of transcending communication through music. University of Derby, UK has announced that they will be dropping their Spa Management degree courses, due to a steady decline in student numbers. On the other side of the world, Melbourne's RMIT University no longer offers its Master in Wellness degree. According the University of Derby, the Spa Industry is shifting to more industry-led qualifications. Maybe? Not sure? But the problem is, in many countries, the authorities and regulators do not accept Spa industry qualifications. Instead, they insist on recognised institutional degrees. This fit the market need in many cases, but posed significant challenges from a marketing and messaging standpoint, as the market understands product companies and service companies but is less comfortable with descriptions that don’t entirely fit into either bucket.” “None of [the open source tools developers love(d) so much] concerned VMware particularly, because as its early developer attention waned its popularity within the operations side of the house – and central IT in particular – boomed. Which has been good for the company generally as central IT has historically been less concerned both about software being open source and being free than developers, which has led to VMware becoming an enterprise datacenter standard which in turn led to its current $60.7B market cap – a valuation roughly double that of Red Hat’s, for context.” Related: El Reg (https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/11/06/vmware_vmworld_europe_summary/) decoder ring (https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/11/06/vmware_vmworld_europe_summary/). After being barraged with a slew of E-mails and Tweets from other girls with guys just not that into them, Corinne feels...better? Maybe? Not really? Who cares? At any rate, much like the Native Americans, she hates to waste anything (even feelings), so she's happy to have helped some sad fuck souls out there by sharing yet another vignette from the series of unfortunate events that is her (lack of) love life. Meanwhile, Krystyna gives a loyal fucker the fuck yes to online dating to find a FB (fuck buddy) or romance or whatever that self-proclaimed broke bitch wants! This week, the girls of Sorry About Last Night welcome ANDREW, Krystyna's suspiciously Stephen-esque one-night (or two-night) stand -- who can recall, really? They reminisce about excessive partying, pajama pants and whether or not Krystyna actually made out with Katy Perry. Plus, in a GWF first, Andrew pulls a semi-Magic Mike mid-podcast. In this second special we take on the whole GOP! Well, maybe not, but Brian,Richard and Randy take on the difficult task of explaining to a poor silly Frenchman what the Republican party and ideas are all about. We talk about the (often caricatured) media portrayal of their views as well as the major issues that seem to drive a wedge between the left and the right, and that often seem to be considered as extremes in many parts of the world: taxes, government reach, religion, arms control and much more. We hope you enjoy the show and find that you understand the reasoning behind the republican's ideals a little bit better, or at least that you have fun listening to our ramblings! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
