Send us a textWhat can I say about Rachell Dumas? Or perhaps, what can't I say about her? Rachell is an extraordinary nurse with a powerful story of pregnancy loss that will leave you both in tears and shaking your head in disbelief. After experiencing the loss of nine pregnancies, Rachell founded the nonprofit organization “A Light After Nine.” This organization aims to provide families navigating infertility, pregnancy loss, and maternal trauma with the emotional, financial, and mental health resources they need. In true "nurse" fashion, Rachell works tirelessly to raise awareness and advocate for equitable maternal healthcare. Through Rachell, I learned about maternal palliative care, which is not only for mothers who are dying but is also essential for those experiencing high-risk pregnancies. Considering that 30% of pregnancies end in loss, this approach is a brilliant way to support this community. You may have heard the quote, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Rachell embodies the light she wishes to see in the world. In the five-minute snippet: Tell me you're a nurse without telling me you're a nurse. Rachell is a registered nurse and pairing her expertise in palliative care with the pregnancy journey. Assuming that every pregnancy results in a delivery can be a rare outcome, especially for women of color. Rachell started ' A Light After Nine" to honor her 9 babies, and to offer hope, wellness, and overall wellbeing for women in their pregnancy journey.Palliative maternal care would include a step by step handholding experience with mom, but also the entire care team, and support system to ensure that there is not only extensive knowledge sharing but also creating the trust within her own body to advocate and have the confidence to speak up if something isn't right.Rachell provides services free of charge because she doesn't want one more life sacrificed through what we don't know or don't have the access to the services. Things have already 'come together', 'unfolded', 'fallen into place', but they will appear to take time in your experience. It's all here, always now, the storm and the rainbow, but the purpose of your experience is to live moment to seeming moment, in and AS this Love. That's what you're missing. As often as you notice you forget to consult with Me, to listen for Me before acting, you forget to be this Love. If you could just Love more, you would see more of what's already Here. You would stop trying to paint your own doors on walls, and finally, look and see My doors standing wide open for you. Pass through. Feel the breeze on your face or your neck? See how it's going by? You're not all hung up with it. You don't have to see where each breeze goes. You don't have to look quickly to see if it hit those trees over there. It's breezes, and they're just going by. Make your thoughts like those breezes, those little breezes…..just going by." - Ram Dass "Who am I? I am myself a word spoken by God. Can God speak a word that does not have any meaning?" -Thomas Merton "Your name is blessed. Your home is blessed. Your career is blessed. Your family is blessed. I speak nothing but blessings over your life. This is your time to be blessed." -@godlovessyou via IG "The present moment is not linear, it is spherical. When you go deep in meditation, you experience this and realize that everything is in this moment." -Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Seth: "Now, do not walk so heavily the paths of earth. Walk lightly. The weight you carry is not physical. It is not physical pounds that weigh you down. Your own identities will enlighten you. There is no need for you to concentrate so avidly and exclusively upon the physical paths. You have walked other paths You [this seemed directed to Rachell have cultivated other gardens. There are joys that can lighten your burden. It is not your ego that you fight, although you have a model of an ego. You fight a memory that lingers on the outskirts of your mind. A transgression already forgiven - a storm already passed - a dark cloud already punctured. Now, you are naturally as free as air. The rest is a facade to hide the memory. Now, consciously you will not understand what I am telling you but unconsciously you will. The transgression has already been paid for. The penance is finished. When you realize that you are free you will be able to enjoy your freedom Now, what brings you here? Knowledge that you do not realize that you possess, yet you do possess it. I look back again at your past histories and to your probabilities and futures in your terms, and my, how you change. You would not know yourselves. Be good of heart. You have more staying power than you know and you [Amelia] should realize that you are also here for a reason and that you build more that garden roads." -ESP 1968.10.22 (EC1) :Till the false is seen as false, Truth is not." -Jiddu Krishnamurti

By using what she now refers to as my three pillars of fitness; Nourishment for both the mind and body, Movement & Rest. “My mission is to create a safe space for all women to feel whole in their own body” – Rachel Lavin What We Discuss In This Episode: Rachel shares her personal story of what she went through for the first half of her life with not only just the way she felt about herself, but the way she felt about her body, When she turned 40, she decided she wanted to be happy - just living her life to the fullest. Rachel took some time, for a lot of self-reflection and dealing with her past. Rachel shares how ditching that “diet mentality” is something we all need to do. Many of us have forgotten how to trust our body. What does that mean? It's really reintroducing that relationship to your body, knowing your hunger signals are real. Think of it like this, you don't have to tell your body when it's tired. It goes to sleep. You don't have to tell your body when to go to the bathroom. If you go to the bathroom, you have signals that tell you what your body needs. And your hunger is no different. Our stomach growls for a reason. It's trying to let you know it needs some nutritional foods. Rachel shares her belief that often we're forcing ourselves to eat goods we don't enjoy. She encourages women to broaden their horizons when it comes to food. She shares how to take note of how we feel when we eat certain foods. Did it disrupt your digestion? Did it make you feel bloated? Did it make me have a stomachache or headaches or other things you experienced? Once you figure it out, you just don't have to think about it anymore. Lynne and Rachell tackle the huge issue that we have about how we love ourselves. Maybe you've got a bulging belly because that often comes in midlife or maybe you've got a lot of birth scars. Often, we look at our body and don't like what stares back at us in the mirror. So how do we learn to love ourselves and love our bodies just as they are? Rachel shares how important it is to start understanding your body is a gift, but you've thought this way for so long that you need to change the narrative. Rachel shares the steps she took to begin to see her body this way and to love her body again. Rachel then shares some easy ways to add movement into our life so that we increase our health and wellbeing. Rachel encourages us to just take a simple, simple step. Find yourself any color post that you want, something bright and cheery, your favorite color, and just write something about yourself, something that you know that you don't believe. And say it out loud to yourself for a week and see how you feel. According to Rachel, you'll see and feel a difference. Things have already 'come together', 'unfolded','fallen into place', but they will appear to take time in your experience. Make your thoughts like those breezes, those little breezes…..just going by."- Ram Dass"Who am I?I am myself a word spoken by God.Can God speak a word that does not have any meaning?"-Thomas Merton"Your name is blessed. When you realize that you are free you will be able to enjoy your freedom. Now, what brings you here? Knowledge that you do not realize that you possess, yet you do possess it. I look back again at your past histories and to your probabilities and futures in your terms, and my, how you change. You would not know yourselves. . . . an Unmuted conversation with Rachel Drunkenmiller. The confident, sing from the stage, highly-sought after person you see now is NOT how Rachel started out. She was a timid, reserved over-achiever who worked hard to meet people's expectations. As is often the case, living to gain the approval of others AND with a fear of being oneself often comes at a cost. In this interview you'll hear about how Rachel ended up physically ill while at the same time was getting accolades for teaching wellness. (The irony was not lost on her.) She also discovered that hiding (in this case her beautiful voice and a desire to sing) was adding insult to injury. This interview is packed with "let me rewind that and hear that again" moments. It's a little over an hour so put on your shoes and go for a long walk or clean out that cluttered closet while you take in every single nugget in this powerful podcast. Most of the dialogue about type 1 diabetes is between people who have it, but what about those close to us who are affected by T1D too, the endearingly nicknamed “Type 3s?” The 3s offers them the opportunity to join the conversation too through one-on-one interviews with the T1D in their life. Dav met Rachell after she was diagnosed with type 1, so he's had to play catchup with both learning about what the disease is and how he fits into her life with it.
