McCullock is believed to be involved in at least two events, one dating back to March 11, 2023, and another on December 23, 2023, where as many as 500 cars gathered for illegal street racing in a Buford parking lot. The events were allegedly organized through an Instagram account called Project 85. The company is known for its government contracting work and plans to integrate more AI technology into its services. STORY 3: People infected with Omicron COVID-19 variant have stronger immune systems: study A study by South Korean scientists indicates that individuals infected with the Omicron variant of the coronavirus are likely to have a more robust immune system, providing protection against future COVID-19 strains. The research suggests that the immune system adapts to new variants, with memory T cells formed during Omicron infection responding to later strains of the virus. This heightened response is observed even against later Omicron variants. The findings offer insights into the evolving nature of the immune response and may influence vaccine development strategies by inducing memory T cell defenses against emerging variants. Right now the subvariants of the Omicron Covid virus, BA.4 and BA.5 are responsible for the majority of new Covid cases emerging in the U.S. Medical experts are finding that people are not “immune” for quite as long after getting over Covid as they initially thought. Dr. Daniel Kuritzkes, head of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Brigham and Women's Hospital says, “Everybody is basically at risk of becoming reinfected if they had COVID more than 8 or 12 weeks ago and should be mindful of that”. Dr. Kuritzkes joined Dan to discuss.

Ep.K398: Omicron less likely to cause long COVID — UK study The Omicron variant of coronavirus is less likely to cause long COVID than previous variants, according to the first peer-reviewed study of its kind from the UK. Researchers at King's College London, using data from the ZOE COVID Symptom study app, found the odds of developing long COVID after infection were 20 percent to 50 percent lower during the Omicron wave in the UK compared to Delta. The figure varied depending on the patient's age and the timing of their last vaccination. Long COVID, which includes prolonged symptoms ranging from fatigue to “brain fog,” can be debilitating and continue for weeks or months. It is increasingly being recognized as a public health problem, and researchers have been racing to find out if Omicron presents as big a risk of long COVID as previously dominant variants. The study from King's is believed to be the first academic research to show Omicron does not present as great a risk of long COVID, but that does not mean long COVID patient numbers are dropping, the team said. While the risk of long COVID was lower during Omicron, more people were infected, so the absolute number now suffering is higher. “It's good news, but please don't decommission any of your long COVID services,” lead researcher Dr Claire Steves told Reuters, appealing to health-service providers. The UK's Office for National Statistics said in May that 438,000 people in the country have long COVID after Omicron infection, representing 24 percent of all long COVID patients. It also said the risk of lingering symptoms after Omicron was lower than with Delta, but only for double-vaccinated people. It found no statistical difference for those who were triple vaccinated. In the King's research, 4.5 percent of the 56,003 people studied during Omicron's peak, December 2021-March 2022, reported long COVID. That compared to 10.8 percent of 41,361 people during the Delta wave, June-November 2021. It did not compare vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals. While the study — published in The Lancet journal on Thursday last week — compared Delta and Omicron, Dr Steves said previous work had showed no substantial difference in long COVID risk between other variants.More work was needed to establish why Omicron may have a lower long COVID risk, the team added. Source article: https://www.taipeitimes.com/News/lang/archives/2022/06/28/2003780674

Dr. Kevin Lewis is the President of SSM Health/St. Anthony Hospital. He joins us each Tuesday morning to discuss medical news and answer questions. This week we discussed: Current stages of the latest Omicron COVID variant. News of Philadelphia instituting new masking requirements for indoor areas. Where we are at currently with COVID hospitalizations. Also, the if-and-when scenario of a new surge coming to Oklahoma. With a second COVID vaccine booster shot approved by the FDA & CDC, when should folks get the shot, and what to expect once you've gotten the second booster shot. We're currently experiencing critically low blood availability levels and the need for donations is high. We go through some of the reasons why that's the case. The Colorado local music scene is staying high-energy despite setbacks from Omicron/COVID-19, tragic local gun violence, and a hugely destructive fire that nearly took out our studio! We truly believe that live music helps all of us feel our feelings, heal together, and re-energize in order to do the work we have before us. In the words of our heroes/musicians of Los Mocochetes, “music is medicine, laughter is medicine, community is medicine.” Head out to a local show, buy a ticket, get a drink, send a social media shout-out, donate to help those suffering, and come together to hear, love, and support some music/musicians from our local scene. You can find the Rocky Mtn Mixdown podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, and at doghousemusic.com/rockymtnmixdown. As always, thank you to Dog House engineer Ty Gallaway for producing this and every episode. Here's what Season Group's President and CEO Carl Hung sees as the key trends in 2022. In this interview we dig into those predictions a little deeper. "For 2022, I foresee a supply chain crunch persisting and potentially worsening due to several reasons: Many orders have been changed to non-cancellable non-reschedulable (NCNR) status which means that there is even less flexibility than before as demand continues to rise and component shortages persist. A way out is to turn towards engineering design flexibility, to give your products more component options to work with. Purchase orders (POs) from clients are placed much earlier in advance, and in turn our POs to suppliers are also made earlier. This trend of long lead times and early POs means that there will be great pressure on cash flows on us manufacturers. EMS companies that rely on banks for finance will be seriously challenged, especially if interest rates rise. Financial risk is definitely what EMS companies have to watch out for going into 2022. The emergence of the Omicron COVID-19 variant has also put many countries on red alert, which affects the shipping and logistics sector. Coupling this with the holiday season where many shipping sector workers want to be home for Christmas or Lunar New Year, temporary shipping service delays will have large knock-on effects to the supply chain as we go into the new year. While the times ahead may be tough, working closely together with our customers and strategic partners will allow the EMS market to continue to grow! Let's get ready for 2022!" This season of What's the SCOOP is sponsored by Koh Young America (https://www.kohyoung.com), the leaders in manufacturing inspection solutions.Like every episode of EMS@C-Level, this one was sponsored by global inspection leader Koh Young (https://www.kohyoung.com) and Adaptable Automation Specialist Launchpad.build (https://launchpad.build).You can see video versions of all of the EMS@C-Level pods on our YouTube playlist.

Which one of our podcast hosts possibly introduced COVID-19 to the SNL staff? Why were sketches so long in the 90s? And, will Amazon deliver Christmas socks before Christmas Day? Find out the answer to all these questions and see what we think of this latest episode. The Ten to One Podcast is a new Saturday Night Live podcast hosted by Bradford Oman (aka Ethan Anderton from SlashFilm.com), Ben Konowitz, and Nate Loucks. It's been so long since we discussed covid, but with all the latest stories we had to discuss it. Austria plans to make vaccines mandatory in 2022, among rising cases and protests in Europe. Jumping from covid- we discuss a Young Turks video on climate change- and more recently how forecasts predict some large cities could face increased flooding pressure by 2030. Artists face pressure to not perform at the upcoming grand prix in Saudi Arabia (given the country's human rights violations). Dr. Hotez speaks to why links with the UK have been so valuable to his career and how he was inspired by UK universities, research organisations and schools of tropical medicine in building the Baylor University National School of Tropical Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital Center for Vaccine Development.A timely discussion on a subject affecting us all with one of the world's leading COVID-19 and vaccine experts.
Additional resources: OHA: Fast facts about the omicron variant CDC: Omicron variant World Health Organization: Tracking variants Ask a Black Doctor on The Numberz REACH webpage and REACH Facebook OHA Facebook Omicron variant and COVID-19 Q1: We've been hearing about the Omicron variant a lot since Thanksgiving weekend. Why? On Nov. 26, 2021, the World Health Organization identified the Omicron variant as a variant of concern. This variant appears to be more transmissible than the Delta variant and contains many mutations that may affect vaccine effectiveness and immunity. Q2: Why are they more concerned about this variant than others? The concern about Omicron is due to how quickly it is spreading in South Africa as well as the specific mutations in the variant: Omicron appears to be more transmissible than the Delta variant, which until now has been considered the most transmissible Coronavirus variant. Many of Omicron's mutations occur in the spike protein — a part of the virus that affects infection and immunity and a part of the virus that our current COVID-19 vaccines are based on. So, there is a concern about how effective vaccines will be against infection caused by Omicron. This is actively being investigated by scientists worldwide. Q3: What causes variants? The novel coronavirus mutates over time in order to infect more and more people. Variants emerge in areas with low COVID-19 vaccination rates. Places with low vaccination rates suffer vaccine inequity for various reasons: They do not have access to the COVID-19 vaccines, They do not have the systems or resources in place to support widespread vaccination (for example, they may not afford to purchase the vaccines or related resources needed to put the vaccines into people's arms), and They may distrust the health care system because of historical injustices. This map shows the association between income and vaccination rates — countries with the lowest incomes have the lowest vaccination rates. This is also true within the United States. Q4: How does vaccine inequity in other countries affect us in the United States? As long as any part of the world remains unvaccinated, variants will continue to emerge. Again, it is still too soon to know whether Omicron poses a serious threat. But only half the world has been vaccinated against COVID-19. Until we achieve global vaccination against COVID-19 — where all nations have achieved a significant vaccination rate —new, more serious variants will continue to emerge. This is why the World Health Organization and other organizations are urging wealthier nations to support vaccine equity by taking actions such as sharing their stockpiled vaccines with lower-income nations. Q5: What can we do to protect ourselves against the Omicron variant? Please do the same things we have been doing to protect ourselves from COVID-19. Get vaccinated if you're not. Vaccination remains the best protection against COVID-19. Get a booster if you are 18 years or older and it has been more than 6 months since you completed your primary COVID-19 vaccine series. Wear a mask in indoor public settings or outdoor crowded settings. Maintain six feet of physical distance from people outside your home if you don't know their vaccination status. Wash hands frequently. Avoid large crowds.
