As the LPGA Tour returns this week after a 3 week hiatus I was joined by New Zealand born Aussie pro Hira Naveed who returns to the scene of her career best finish of 2nd at last year's Ford Championship in Arizona over the road at Seville Golf & Country Club where she challenged the world number 1 Nelly Korda finishing 2 shots behind the best player in the world. Although born in New Zealand, Hira spent majority of her childhood in Perth, Australia and went to University in Los Angeles where she ended up finishing 5th in the all time scoring list with 73.59 and would be a part of the 2019 Palmer Cup side for Team International which they would win against USA. In 2019 Hira turned Pro before the disruption of 2020 where she was cut off from any sort of tournament play but played on Epson Tour in 2021 with a career best finish on Epson of T4th in 2022. Hira would meet well renowned Golf Coach Chris Mayson and would certainly work towards improving. Hira would gain her LPGA Tour card for 2024 season after finishing T15th at Final Stage Q School in 2023. Last year Hira made her bow at LPGA Tour level and had a few Top 20s and she even admits that it could have been better but still a respectable 72nd finish on the Race to CME Globe standings to keep her card. So far Hira has started with 3 straight cuts made including a 8th placed finish at Saudi Ladies International in Riyadh and returns to the state of Arizona where she is very comfortable with having played a heap of events in AZ on Epson Tour & openly admitted she loves playing in hot weather and desert golf. Downloads via Podbean, Apple and Spotify! Be sure to give a listen and thanks to Hira Naveed for being a good guest! Enjoy!

Andy and Brendan are back after a long holiday weekend, and this is truly a rambling show about nothing. But there are some BIG questions asked, like, say, who will win more Tour events from now on -- Davis Thompson, Michael Thorbjornsen, or Jordan Spieth? They discuss the youth at the top of the Deere leaderboard and how it's become a course with literally zero hard holes and nothing but wedges. There's a lengthy chat on Spieth's momentary flirtation with 59 on Saturday and what went wrong from there, and his future prospects. There are some other odds and ends from Deere Run like JT not playing ZJ's charity outing this year, an IBF comp to Scottie Scheffler, and an amusing Tosti Tale on his pro-am, his caddie, and his rental car antipathy. Michael Rubin gets thirstbucket of the week for his little white party. The Euro Tour event is discussed momentarily, but mostly with some testimony from the ground about the power lines. They close with a few thoughts on the Palmer Cup at Lahinch and consensus that it is the creepiest trophy in golf.
Sean and Justin discuss the recent news and events in amateur golf. In another Chasing Pars player exclusive interview sponsored by Golf Tips Checker I was absolutely delighted to be joined by 1x LPGA Tour winner, 5x Ladies European Tour winner & 2023 Solheim Cup star Maja Stark who becomes my 25th Professional Player interview. In this brilliant episode with Maja we find out about her background growing up in the village of Abbekås in Sweden growing up with an older brother they would play competitively in most things against each other. We find out that Maja was in the same year & went to the same school as none other than Ludvig Åberg & Linn Grant while Madelene Sagstrom was also at the same school in Helsingborg. Craig asks some quick fire questions to find out more about Maja with a nice little discussion on ABBA (Why Not?). It was at the age of 15 where Maja would start to get noticed by Top Swedish Coaches & managed to get into university at Oklahoma State University where she was a First Team All American & won 2021 Big 12 Championship with Oklahoma State. Other Amateur accolades include being on the 2017 Junior Solheim Cup Team for Europe, Winning the European Girls Amateur Team Champs with Sweden, winning European Amateur Team Champs 3 times with Sweden & being a part of the successful International side at 2020 Palmer Cup at Bay Hill. Maja turned Professional in 2021 & since then she's been relentless when it comes to getting wins with 6 wins in a 2 year spell on LET Tour & which includes the win in 2022 at the Co-sanctioned ISPS Handa World Invitational at Galgorm Castle which would help secure full LPGA Tour status. 2023 was a decent year for Maja with T2nd at Tournament of Champions in the opening event & T4th at both Honda LPGA Thailand & Women's Scottish Open events. Maja would win Lalla Meryem Cup on the LET beating Linn Grant by 4 shots & would also get to play in her first Solheim Cup for Team Europe at Finca Cortesin contributing to 2 & a half points for Europe on Debut. An experience that Maja says she will never forget. As Tournament of Champs starts up next week I ask Maja about her goals going forward for 2024 with making back to back Solheim Cup teams the top of her list along with the Majors. We mention about Maja & Linn's friendship but eagerness to beat each other every time on the Golf course & we also talk late about what to expect from WAGR number 1 Ingrid Lindblad and what the future holds for Ingrid when she does finally turn pro. It was amazing to speak to one of the best players in the world again & to try and process what goals they try to achieve & what obstacles they have to overcome to achieve them. In this latest episode of Chasing Pa In rs Golf Podcast which is Proudly sponsored by Golf Tips Checker I was joined by 2x Sunshine Tour champion & 4x DP World Tour runner up as I give you the remarkable story of Justin Walters. In a really deep, honest, meaningful at times tough not to feel emotional chat Justin goes at length about how career struggles affected him, the heavy loss of both parents with remarkable bravery to recover from such adversity to being a main stay on the DP World Tour for over a decade! Justin was born in South Africa but is Half South African & Half English by his own admission due to having an English mother. Justin would take a college placement in the States in 2001 while managing to get into the University of North Carolina State & was number 1 at a period of time at NC State playing every week against serious players including PGA Tour players Hunter Mahan, Bill Haas, Brandt Snedeker, D.J. Trahan & Ryan Moore. In 2002 due to having dual citizenship Justin would get the call up to team GB & Ireland for Palmer Cup where alongside Oliver Wilson & Stuart Manley would battle a very talented US side consisting of the best college talent (Haas, Mahan, Trahan, Nick Watney). Justin would turn pro in 2003 & although would struggle in his first few years he would win 2004 Parmalat Classic on Sunshine Tour & 2005 Statesville Open on Tarheel Tour (US). In 2011 he would pick up his 2nd Sunshine Tour title at Investec Royal Swazi Open in the Stableford format legit coming off a 3 weeks injury layoff after slicing the top of a finger. 2013 was the year that propelled Justin properly on Tour ending up a career high 64th on Race to Dubai standings, 2013 European Tour Graduate of the Year & a 2nd at Portugal Masters pipped by David Lynn & contended in the big Turkish Airlines Open event which included Justin Rose & Tiger nonetheless. We get a story of how Justin was just a baby away from the greatest and being mesmerized by his swing! 2019 was also a strong year with a 2nd back home at Dimension Data Pro- Am & T2nd again in Portugal. In 2020 after the COVID restart Justin would lead ISPS Handa UK Championship at The Belfry Brabazon Course from start to finish until making a few mistakes going for home when Rasmus Hojgaard with an amazing finish got into a playoff where Hojgaard would win & still to this day Justin's biggest regret. He loves the Belfry after also a T3rd in 2022 at Betfred British Masters. From promising college career to career struggles to near misses on the main tour to personal tragedies this is a must listen to episode. I fully appreciate Justin's full honesty! Wish him all the best for 2024.
Every golfer knows that the journey from the first swing to the greens is never a straight shot. That's precisely what Caolan Rafferty, our guest this week, proves as he recounts the swings and roundabouts of his golfing career. From flipping his stance at eleven to stepping away from the sport, only to return with a rejuvenated love for the game, Caolan's story is a testament to resilience. We delve into the pressures that once pushed him away from golf and the mindset shift that would bring him back to the Irish amateur scene with a flourish. Caolan's narrative isn't just about overcoming obstacles; it's about rediscovering joy amidst competition and the transformative power of finding your passion.Imagine balancing a business management degree with reviving a near-professional golf career. This episode peels back the curtain on how Caolan did just that, thanks to a scholarship at Maynooth University and the mentorship of Eugene Smith and Barry Fenley. The collegiate greens provided more than just an education; they offered a sandbox for perfecting chip shots and indulging in trick shot challenges. Even amidst the pandemic, Caolan drive led him to play in the Palmer Cup, a reminder that opportunities can still bloom in the face of adversity. His experiences show us the lighter side of training and the importance of mentors in guiding us through the rough.Wrapping up our roundtable, we tackle the complexities of balancing personal life with professional ambition, a dance familiar to many high-level athletes. Caolan shares insights on the selection process for prestigious teams, the electrifying thrill of a Walker Cup nod, and how life's milestones, like marriage, can redefine one's trajectory on the fairway. In this episode Craig is joined by 3x DP World Tour winner & winner of the Triple Crown at the University of Indiana, Jorge Campillo! We go through his time as an amateur participating in the Palmer Cup for Europe 3 consecutive years in 07, 08 + 09 even playing Dustin Johnson in the singles in 07. Jorge was also a participant in the 2008 Eisenhower Trophy with Team Spain. Jorge would turn professional in 2009 competing on the Challenge Tour from 2009-11 as well as a few limited European Tour starts. Jorge would finish 2nd twice at the Acaya Open + The Rolex Trophy to make it to the finals in San Domenico where a 6th place finish would put him into 9th overall to gain his European Tour card! Jorge would keep his card for the first 3 seasons then would play some super golf in 2016 to cement himself as a tour regular. In 2018 finishes of 2nd at Maybank in Malaysia, 4th in Oman, 3rd in China + 3rd in Ireland would fill Campillo's game with confidence before in 2019 at the 229th time of asking Jorge would gain an emotional victory at the Trophee Hassan II in Morocco to win his first European Tour title. Another 2 wins would come at the 2020 Qatar Masters (21 events after his first win) defeating David Drysdale in a thrilling play off with an unbelievable putting display then would win his 3rd DP World Tour title at Magical Kenya Open this year! A consistent & steady player that has now kept his card on the DP World Tour for 12 straight years deserves respect for that. Thank you Jorge! I hope you all enjoy!

Playing in the Masters. Chasing the green jacket alongside icons of the game. It's every golfer's dream. For Razorback senior Mateo Fernandez de Oliviera, his dream has become a reality. With his record-setting win earlier this year at the Latin American Amateur Championship, Mateo secured his invitation to the Masters, U.S. Open and British Open. For him, it's just the beginning. A native of Argentina and a transfer from TCU, he's been making the most in his time as a Razorback, earning All-American honors and a spot on the Palmer Cup team, as well as rising to a top-30 spot in the world amateur golf rankings. The future is bright for Mateo, but he's making the most of his present. Hey Guys welcome back to the Hole In One Golf Podcast, I'm your host Jack Bull. Please remember to like and subscribe to the podcast and please share the podcast with your friends, I would really appreciate it! In this episode I'm joined by Stuart Manley from Mountain Ash Golf Club in Wales. Stuart played lots of sports growing up and had football trials with Man Utd, but Golf was his passion and he dedicated himself to the sport he enjoyed the most. I've watched Stuart as an Amateur and followed his career. Stuart had a superb amateur career, winning the Welsh Amateur, Duncan Putter and Gold Cross and he also played in Walker Cup and Palmer Cup teams. Since turning professional, he's won 3 times on the Challenge Tour, including the Eurma Bank Open last year. Stuart tells me about his plans to qualify for the 150th British Open at St Andrews this year and also shares plenty of great insights from the great Welsh players he's played with and other household name guys such as Rory Mc Llroy and Angel Cabrera. Stuart scored an infamous Hole In One at the World Cup of Golf in Melbourne Australia which was even trending on Twitter, but he's the only guest who is sick of talking about a Hole In One as he's asked about it at every pro-am he's played since! Stuart also shares stories from when he briefly led the British Open and another tour story that will blow your mind! #stuartmanleygolf #golf #mountainashgolfclub #walesgolf #holeinone #golfpodcast #podcast #holeinonegolfpodcast #challengetour Instagram & Facebook @holeinonegolfpodcast Twittter: seasidejack Links: https://www.bbc.com/sport/golf/57881619 https://www.europeantour.com/players/stuart-manley-32332/ https://www.golfdigest.com/story/the-roseforte-report-stuart-manley-enjoys-his-major-milestone https://www.golfchannel.com/media/stuart-manley-hole-one-11-world-cup https://www.skysports.com/golf/news/12230/9037221/world-cup-of-golf-stuart-manley-follows-hole-in-one-with-an-11-in-melbourne https://www.espn.com.au/golf/story/_/id/10021291/stuart-manley-follows-hole-one-11-third-round-world-cup https://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/from-hole-in-one-to-11-at-world-cup/SP6EBVWBBMZSJVDWO3WU5EUO2Y/?c_id=48&objectid=11161853 https://edition.cnn.com/2013/11/23/sport/golf/manley-hole-in-one-car-agony/index.html#:~:text=Welsh%20golfer%20Stuart%20Manley%20thought,car%20%E2%80%93%20which%20was%20on%20display. https://www.pga.info/news/manley-captures-maiden-welsh-title/ https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/other-sport/golf/golf-stuart-manley-still-hunt-1858158 https://golfweek.usatoday.com/2017/07/20/battled-tested-stuart-manley-stellar-in-debut-british-open-round/

It was a bumper weekend for provincial rugby, with Hawke's Bay locking away the Ranfurly Shield for the summer and All Blacks captain Sam Cane making a guest appearance for Heartland union King Country. But the most compelling story unfolded in Christchurch, where Waikato stunned four-time defending champions Canterbury in the final of the women's Farah Palmer Cup. The 22-20 result came despite the visitors having to twice hurriedly relocate from level 3 restrictions as alert levels tightened last week - firstly in Hamilton and then Cambridge. The team's No.8 Victoria Edmonds scored a crucial try in the final. She spoke to Corin Dann.
