Mary Cosimano, LMSW, has been with the Department of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in the Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research since 2000 when they began research with psilocybin. She is currently a Psychedelic Session Facilitator and has served as Director of Clinical Services and as a research coordinator. She has been involved with all the psilocybin studies and has conducted over 500 study sessions including Club Drug studies with Salvia Divinorum and Dextromethorphan. Mary has trained postdoctoral fellows, faculty, clinicians, and research assistants as guides and taught individual and group meditation to breast cancer patients in a Johns Hopkins research study. She completed MAPS MDMA therapy training program. She is a teacher and mentor at California Institute to Integral Studies for their Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies and Research (CPTR) certificate program and conducts training for therapists in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. Mary is a Psychedelic Harm Reduction and Integration Coach and leads a Death Awareness/Death and Psychedelics Workshop. In 2003 she started a meditation group for employees in her department. She also has 15 years of experience with direct patient care as a hospice volunteer.

Salvia is a highly hallucinogenic plant that causes vivid illusions and visuals. You should probably not try it and here's why. Firstly, most people are not ready to see beyond the veil. It would freak them out, and you'll start seeing timelines, colours, music frequencies, beings, entities, you're not ready. Secondly, dosage is tricky, can be easy to get a much higher dose than needed which causes dissociation and can be very bad mentally.

Mariano Gru had his first experience with salvia at age 18. While he was with his friend he took a hit of salvia from a bong and reality began folding in on itself. Mariano's salvia experience got him interested in psychedelics and he began staying up late at night listening to Terrence McKenna's lectures. In his 20's, Mariano tried other psychedelics like psilocybin mushrooms, ayahuasca, and MDMA but salvia remained his favorite. He discusses some of his experiences with this powerful plant medicine. Mariano describes the feeling he often gets of being in a void on salvia and seeing himself as a character. He talks about how salvia has helped him clear blockages in his body and release emotional pain. We also discussed his participation in a vipassana meditation retreat and his efforts to answer other people's questions about salvia on reddit. Mariano even built a chamber in his house that muffles sound and protects him from physical injury while he's under the influence of salvia.
