On this week's episode, I'm joined by Ben Shenton. Ben is a survivor of "The Family," a notorious New Age cult led by Anne Hamilton-Byrne. At 18 months old, Ben was handed over to Hamilton-Byrne, who falsely claimed to be his mother. Within the cult, children were subjected to severe abuse, including forced conformity through identical appearances and strict discipline. In 1987, at age 15, Shenton was among several children rescued during a police raid on the cult's property. Ben has since become an advocate for survivors of cults and abusive environments and works now as a pastor. He authored the book Life Behind The Wire, detailing his experiences within "The Family" and his journey toward healing.Ben's website - https://www.rescuethefamily.com/Dark Finds Podcast IG - https://www.instagram.com/darkfindspodcast/Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/darkfindspodcast/membershipDark Finds IG - https://www.instagram.com/dark.finds/Dark Finds YouTube Channel for more dark long-form content - https://www.youtube.com/@DarkFindsChannelDark Finds book - https://amzn.eu/d/3VHPOTj Hosted on Acast. HUGH MILLEN joins the show to give us his insight on the addition of Cooper Kupp and how he sees the wide receiver fitting in in Seattle. :30- The Mariners released today's starting lineup and it sure does look like it COULD be the starting lineup for Opening Day. Robles, Rodriguez, Raleigh, Arozarena, Raley, Polanco, Tellez, Bliss, Crawford- what do we think? And before we can even finish talking about it, Rodriguez has been pulled, Raley moved to center and Shenton is in at 1st. :45- The fun of Bracket Monday continues! UNC getting into the tourney has people in an uproar and there's some hypocrisy in play here… West Virginia gets left out because their best player is injured, meanwhile Iowa State gets a 3 seed and has two players out.

Derek Shenton is the Head of Operations at Shenton Safaris in Zambia. He's a third-generation conservationist and safari guide who helped to establish Kaingo Camp in 1992 and Mwamba Bush Camp in 2000 and nowadays is involved in everything from camp building, to guide training, to road maintenance. He's also on the board of Conservation South Luangwa (CSL), an organisation established to protect the ecosystem of South Luangwa, also known as The Valley of the Leopard. Derek shares the story of how his grandfather, who was actually born in Leicester in the UK, moved to Johannesburg to 'chase the dream' before moving to Zululand before his father Barry was born in 1929. He tells host Si Willmore about them working in the game department in Northern Rhodesia, operating side-by-side with local Chief Nsefu -- perhaps the first community-based project of its kind.Derek also reminisces about building Kaingo Camp in South Luangwa National Park, known by some as the birthplace of Walking Safaris, with his father. This included felling a massive leadwood tree to build a bar, long before the days of power tools -- with the appropriate approval from the local authorities, of course. He shares some of the experiences available at Mwamba Bush Camp, including the abundant wildlife -- 400 bird species such as Pel's fishing owl and 60 different mammals including elephants, lions and impalas. At Mwamba, the wildlife hides are Derek's own creation; he has chosen each location after years of observation working with his wildlife photographer wife Jules. In the JRNY Podcast, Si Willmore talks with pioneers, trailblazers and thought leaders, who are pushing the envelope in the travel industry. Warning: This episode contains spoilers for Episode Seven of the Third Season of All Creatures Great and Small. At the end of the third season of All Creatures Great and Small, World War II has finally come to the Yorkshire Dales. Music Ally Focus Ep. 96: Artists have been increasingly vocal about the pressures of the music industry and the impact on their mental health. And it's not just artists: everyone can experience unique stresses in the industry. In this episode, Joe Sparrow talks to Adam Ficek and Jeordie Shenton of UK charity Tonic Rider about what they are doing to provide music industry-specific support. Music industry pressures are unique: job security can be shaky, and there can be endless late nights – not to mention the sex and drugs and rock 'n' roll. Meanwhile, the idea of the “tortured artist” is normalised, and those artists are then put on a pedestal. UK charity Tonic Rider provides resources to encourage good mental health in the music business, through regular support groups, learning sessions, workshops, and training courses. Adam and Jeordie explain what stresses that artists and music business professionals tell them that they are feeling, what the Tonic Rider can do for you and your business, and how regular support groups with other people in the business who really understand its unique mix of pressures can be hugely helpful. In this episode we pick up where we left off in the last episode, ‘New Flat World Order 1 Flimflammers Charlatans and Snake Oil' with Flat Earth Theory's introduction to the interwebs in the naughties through Daniel Shenton.Unlike 19th century pseudoscience quack Samuel Rowbotham, actual research and experimentation or at least the illusion of it seem to be of no interest to Shenton and his followers. We will also deep dive into the most egregious and objectionable of the current flat earth peddlers, YouTube Yoga instructor Eric Dubay, head of the International Flat Earth Research Society and his, ‘200 Proofs Earth is Not a Spinning Ball.'I will focus on his blatant dishonesty and the attitude he has towards his reader. You won't be surprised by his complete and utter lack of even the most basic scientific knowledge. You will be surprised by just how much he thinks he can hide that ignorance from his intellectually limited audience. From making ridiculous claims like he can see right through the ‘transparent' moon to fraudulently misrepresenting scientific papers he didn't understand. With a straight face and no shame he proudly announces he does not know the difference between a rocket and a jet or how they work and yet he's the one to expose the Flat Earth truth! But Dubay is not the only science denying history whitewashing reprobate we investigate. There's also Tila Tequila. Remember her? No, didn't think so.Or what about Noel Hadley who believes Lucille Ball was a witch who's ancestry can be traced back to the Salem Witch Trials? He also believes the atomic bomb is a hoax. The great American pastime of Baseball is actually a Freemason ritual. The 1893 Chicago World Fair was a hoax to re-write the true history of Chicago actually being a city that was established hundreds of years before European settlement. Aids, malaria, polio and Covid 19 are all hoaxes. The Manson family, Nancy Kerrigan and Lorena Bobbitt cases were all hoaxes. Being a Flerfer is just the tip of the iceberg that sunk the Titanic with this guy, which he also believes is a hoax. When you hear about these outrageous pundits of Flat Earth Theory you'll think you're being Punk'd. Speaking of which we'll also talk about former cast member of that MTV show, Owen Benjamin. We learn about the dubious relationship daredevil Mad Mike Hughes had with the community and what the young Earth creationists over at Answers in Genesis think of the whole thing. And of course we can't forget star of the Netflix Documentary, Behind the Curve, Mark Sargent in this Dunning Kruger effect on steroids filled episode.

Laura Shenton - Jethro Tull Chronicles 1967-79... with TRE's Giles Brown
From acting in British soap opera Hollyoaks to winning the best live action short film Oscar for 'The Silent Child' at the star-studded ceremony in Los Angeles, Rachel Shenton and Chris Overton have had a wild career path.
The gigantic covert wartime mission led by the men and women of London's museums and galleries to save the nation's priceless heritage. As Hitler prepared to invade Poland during the sweltering summer of 1939, men and women from across London's museums, galleries and archives formulated ingenious plans to send the nation's highest prized objects to safety. Using stately homes, tube tunnels, slate mines, castles, prisons, stone quarries and even their own homes, a dedicated bunch of unlikely misfits packed up the nation's greatest treasures and, in a race against time, dispatched them throughout the country on a series of top-secret wartime adventures. National Treasures highlights a moment from our history when an unlikely coalition of mild-mannered civil servants, social oddballs and metropolitan aesthetes became the front line in the heritage war against Hitler. Caroline Shenton shares the interwoven lives of ordinary people who kept calm and carried on in the most extraordinary of circumstances in their efforts to save the nation's historic identity.
