Taking a break from The Pacific to discuss Tora! Tora! Tora! The story of the 1941 Japanese air raid on Pearl Harbor, and the series of preceding American blunders that aggravated its effectiveness. We are NOT experts, veterans or master tacticians of World War II but we do love a bloody good war movie so...
Dan and Simon take a deep dive into this 1970 Zanuck brothers Amrica/Japanese colab'!
World War II pseudo-classic about the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Tora! Tora! Tora! was an ambitious co-production between the United States and Japan. It was also a very expensive failure when it was released in 1970. Does it deserve a better reputation? We think so. A very detailed look at the lead up to the attack on Pearl Harbor from both the American and Japanese perspective. The post A044: Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970) appeared first on .
Tora! Tora! http://www.ikassenshow.dk/2024/05/i-kassen-1057-tora-tora-tora-1970.html
In the late 1960s, a Japanese film production team joined forces with an American team in an effort to produce a balanced and accurate retelling of the December 7, 1941 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. The result is the classic 1970 film Tora! Tora! Tora! which after more than 50 years still remains the definitive Pearl Harbor film. Join James and Sean McIver as they discuss the film's story, its historical accuracy, its quality, and its legacy.
A groundbreaking war movie made by both sides in the conflict. Thomas Salerno, Dom Bettinelli, and Patrick Mason discuss this story of the attack on Pearl Harbor, its epic scale, and the moral and ethical dimensions of the attack. They also discuss how Pearl Harbor shaped the American psyche and worldview. The post The Secrets of Tora! Tora! Tora! appeared first on StarQuest Media.
The lads make their annual pilgrimage to Pearl Harbor and watch a lot of people read documents as they plunge into the intense historical accuracy and coma-inducing pace of 1970s docudrama: Tora! Tora! Tora! Topics include the unique Japanese/American co-production, the difficulties in making a narrative about Pearl Harbor, and what it means to have the dubious honor of being the best piece of media ever made about the day that will live in infamy. March 8, 2014. Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 departs Kuala Lumpur in the darkness of night, heading for Beijing. It suddenly disappears from radar, and is never seen or heard from again. Nearly a decade later, the mystery of where it went and what happened next to the 227 passengers and 12 crew members onboard remains a mystery. Join host Ryan Kraus for a strange journey through the psychology of the event as we seek to uncover the truth.
There was a movie that came out many years ago entitled Tora! Tora! Tora!. This podcast is about the only Japanese Piolet that survived this attack.
Tonight we conclude our Pearl Harbor series with 1970's "Tora Tora Tora," a perennial favorite of World War II-movie sticklers. The producer of "The Longest Day" wanted to do for Pearl Harbor what that movie did for D-Day. The result was Tora(3), a movie that incorporates twin productions about the event, one from the American perspective and one from the Japanese (with the actual planners of the real attack hired as consultants for accuracy!). A true World War II-movie cult classic... Asides include an obscure Memphis rock band, and what Yamamoto and George Carlin have in common.

"Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." - Hanlon's Razor Tora! Tora! Tora! is a 1970 movie about the Japanese air raid on Pearl Harbor, and the series of American blunders that aggravated its effectiveness. Tora! Tora! Tora! has been possibly the most accurate portrayal of the attack at Pearl Harbor that our War on Film crew has viewed so far. By presenting both an American perspective and a Japanese one there is much to discuss. Join us for Not a Robot's War on Film! Today we honor Navy Ensign Herbert C. Jones who was on board the US California during the Pearl Harbor attack. Herbert was helping load manual ammunition when an explosion severely injured him and trapped his fellow shipmates. Orders were then given to abandon ship. Unable to flee he demanded they leave him there while they saved themselves. In March 1942, Jones posthumously received the Medal of Honor for his bravery and sacrifice. If you or someone you love have served in the armed forces of any nation, then we would like to honor them on this humble podcast! Just Tweet @NARwaronfilm Not A Robot's War on Film.
In this much-anticipated episode of the Golden Talkies Podcast we watch Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970). Will it live up to Duncan's hype? Will Jamie's predictions about how well it represents both sides be correct? Will we somehow talk about the same topics that we have before? Find out this week.
Lewis and Nick lindy hop back in time to the year 1941 as they recap Steven Spielberg's..."1941" (1979). This flick from Spielberg's early era sits at an odd moment in his career, and remains his only straight-up comedy. With a huge star-studded cast, show-stopping dance numbers, impressive special effects, and some genuinely hilarious bits, "1941" remains worth revisiting for the sheer spectacle alone. KCCCC Season 001, Episode 19 We review the good Pearl Harbour movie. American and Japanese film makers combine their efforts to tell the long ass tale of their nations came into conflict. I was going to make a joke about the movie being long but the Michael Bay Pearl Harbour movie is actually 40 minutes longer. So there is no reason to be whining about the length.
