Show Notes:In 2017, Brandon joined his wife Tatiana on a trip to The Netherlands. She had some work to do there and they figured why not combine the travel for a bit of vacation time. What Brandon couldn't have known at the time, was that this trip would forever alter his life and spark a curiosity to learn more about functional cycling, and ignite a passion for the simple pleasures of getting stuff done while riding a bike. Thus the @AmericanFietser on Twitter was born. The Dutch, have a couple of different words that apply to cyclists. They use the word Fietser to refer to a person who rides for everyday purposes such as meeting one's daily needs. While they use the term "wielrenner", literally wheel runner, to describe a sport cyclist or racer. Today’s podcast features speed and strength coach Brandon Byrd. Brandon Byrd is the owner of Byrd’s Sports Performance in Orefield, Pennsylvania. Brandon is an alumni of the University of Pittsburgh and has learned from elite coaches such as Louie Simmons, Charlie Francis, Buddy Morris and others. Brandon’s unique blend of rotating training stimuli, and his competitive, PR driven environment has elicited noteworthy speed, power and strength gains in his athletes. If you follow Brandon on social media, you’ll see the regular occurrence of sprint and jump records from his athletes. Brandon has some of the highest-output training out there in his ability to cultivate speed and strength. I always enjoy digging into the training of elite coaches, into the nuts and bolts that drives their systems. Some of the running themes on this show have been ideas such as the rotation of big training stimuli from week to week (such as in EP 190 with Grant Fowler), the power of resisted sprinting (EP 12 and 63 with JB Morin and Cameron Josse), overspeed sprinting (EP 51 with Chris Korfist), and then the power of competition and PR’s (EP 135 with Tony Holler). This episode with coach Brandon Byrd truly brings all of those elements together in a way that gets some of the best training results you’ll find. On today’s podcast, Brandon goes into the core of his system, and how he rotates his sprint efforts based on the needs of the athlete, to get the most out of their system. He also goes into his background with Westside Barbell, and the elements he learned from Louie Simmons that go into his training, as well as strength pre-requisites he carries for his athletes to optimize their readiness for the strength and speed program. (Note that when Brandon is talking about fly 10’s he is talking yards, not meters) Today’s episode is brought to you by SimpliFaster, supplier of high-end athletic development tools, such as the Freelap timing system, kBox, Sprint 1080, and more. A wise person once made the statement that if your smile is bigger on Friday than it is on Monday, it's time to find a new job. Big smiles on Monday aren't that common, but neither is tonight's guest, Al Palicki, General Manager for Signature Flight Support, at Chicago Executive Airport. Al tells us he feels like he hasn't had a day of work in the 40 years he's been coming to the airport. Brandon and Marc sat down with Al, to talk about how his journey got started and the path he took to get to where he is today. In addition to learning about Al, the crew also delved into FBO operations, including the constraints, strategies, and philosophies Al brings to the job. What Brandon and Marc learned, is that in addition to rules that ensure a safe and customer first experience, it still comes down to the people and the culture created by an organization's leadership. We're interested to hear your thoughts, so please share them with the rest of the SimpleFlight Facebook and Instagram Community @simpleflightradio Thanks for being a part of the SimpleFlight Family!!!
Brands on Brands on Brands marked its 50th episode earlier this week—see Brandon’s interview with Oren Klaff. In light of this milestone, Brandon is taking a step back to put into perspective just how far he’s come with the show, how he’s branched out, and what are the most valuable lessons he’s taken away from it so far. He also discusses how having your own podcast just might be the most powerful networking tool in your possession. In this episode, Brandon impresses why you should give his Brand Growth Community a look if you want to become more involved online, reminds you that you don’t need to be an expert to be a good podcast host, and discusses the lessons he’s internalized after hosting his own live show. The Finer Details of This Episode: Brandon’s reminder that you should join his Brand Growth Community on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/BrandGrowthNow/. Remember that your podcast doesn’t have to come from an area of expertise—your interest is enough to propel conversation if you find the right guests and topics. What Brandon’s been learning and gaining from his recent weekly live shows (Wednesdays @ 1PM PST at BrandGrowthLive.com). Brandon lays out the “secret sauce” to building your reputation and authority online. Quotes: “I think everyone out there should have a podcast.” “It’s mind boggling how much I've grown simply because I got out there and started asking questions to people that wanted to answer them.” “The opportunity’s right there. This week’s Freestyle Friday focuses on how to work with others and make a good impression while you are maintaining your own personal brand. Running your own business takes a lot of time, and that time is already divvied up as you try to balance several plates at once—logistics, finance, communications and, of course, content. It’s by no means an easy balancing act, so it helps to have a go-to method for establishing rapport with customers to hear what they want and figure out how you can help them. In this episode, Brandon discusses what he says and does to establish clear, healthy communication with his customers and explains how to push them toward a sale without necessarily giving your services away for free. The Finer Details of This Episode: What do you charge for and what do you give away for free? How Brandon establishes a rapport with potential customers. What Brandon wants to convey in conversations with people he’s interested in working with. Brandon walks us through the process he uses to diagnose his customers’ issues. The three choices Brandon’s customers face at the end of the problem-solving process. Quotes: “You can learn the tactics of being more persuasive while still maintaining strong relationships with your customers.” “The problem that they see in their business is a problem and it is one that is solvable, it’s not something they have to do alone.” “When you’re giving away your free advice, when you’re giving away your tips or tricks, I do think you need to prove to people that you are the real deal.” Links: Visit Brandon’s website at www.BrandsOnBrandsOnBrands.com Join the Brand Growth Now Community on Facebook at www.brandonbrands.com/community And please leave a rating and review on iTunes!

Visit https://www.leadquizzes.com/podcast for the complete show notes of every podcast episode. Topics Discussed in this Episode: [01:36] How they came up with the idea for Cirrus Insight [04:56] How Brandon knew that his friend was going to be a good business partner [07:28] How they managed the transition period before they launched their business and getting their first customers [10:53] How they got feedback from beta users [14:15] How they got people to start as free users to becoming their first customers [19:21] How they decided to launch their product and move forward with their business [22:40] What the early months looked like for Cirrus Insight in terms of revenue [24:47] How their first hires helped them grow the business [25:53] How they developed the traffic and their email list and put their sales model together [32:35] How their pricing has evolved from the time they first launched [35:52] How they compensate their sales people for their demos [39:09] How they prioritized feedback and what to build on the development side and the operations side [44:48] What Brandon did that had the biggest impact on his growth [46:23] What they look for in the people that they hire Key Takeaways: There’s an emotionally stabilizing effect of having another person you can share the roller coaster of building a business with. The biggest thing that causes early stage companies to fail is that the founders break up. It is a threat to building a company. It’s helpful to have smart people on deck to help with the million things that have to get done. Community involvement whether online or in person is key to growing a business. The opportunities to hire software developers primarily comes through referrals. Action Steps: If you’re in the software or app business, find the marketplace online where people are likely to search and/or gather for product offerings like yours. Be active in the Salesforce community and be active in all the boards, trying to answer as many questions are possible. Build a customer success team just as you would build a sales team. Brandon said: “We’ve always known that there’s a risk in the market that a very large competitor could come in and stomp on everybody. So you’re kind of always aware of that and yet you get very used to living with that risk.” “Dig in earlier to something like this, building something that looks like a snowball and pushing it downhill… Get started early and often.” More from Brandon Bruce and Cirrus Insight: Cirrus Insight’s Website Brandon’s Email Brandon’s LinkedIn Resources mentioned in this episode: The Lean Startup: How Today's Entrepreneurs Use Continuous Innovation to Create Radically Successful Businesses Sponsor link 14-day Free Trial to LeadQuizzes Thank you for listening! We are incredibly fortunate to have Brandon Tatum joining us on Lost Arts Radio. He is an example to all of us that no matter where you are starting, no matter how dire your circumstances are right now, you can change your life in amazing ways, and become a source of hope and inspiration to all those around you. How Brandon did that is a story I think you will want to hear. America and the rest of the world are being torn to shreds by design, but at the same time, there is a rebirth of consciousness going on. In an epic drama that most people barely know is occurring around them, forces of destruction work to break us down into warring factions, trying to destroy the fabric of society, hoping to replace our chances of peace and prosperity with chaos and fear. Their goal is world tyranny, which they hope we will beg for, to rescue us from the hell they will create, blaming all our problems on too much freedom. But their deeper goal is destruction of all life on the planet, including us, and they are well on their way. Still, our situation is far from hopeless. Forces of good are infinitely stronger, but we have to wake up to our potential in order to use them fully. That is why the global rulers' highest priority is to keep us from becoming self-aware. That tells us that waking up to what we can really become, and acting on it, is what we need to do. Brandon's life got off to a rough start and he had some hard things going on as a kid. But a few words of wisdom became a turning point for an 8-year old, and the same can happen to you at any age, if you are willing to listen and act. Now Brandon speaks for a group calling Turning Point, USA, inspiring young people to take responsibility for their lives, to remember basic values they can live by to become a force for healing in the world. What Brandon and this group are doing is exciting. And there is a message in what Brandon has done that is directly relevant to your life right now.
