Mark Few and the Gonzaga Bulldogs secured a 17 point victory over the LMU Lions on Thursday, despite a sloppy first half and a herculean effort from Will Johnston. Ryan Nembhard was masterful as well, dropping 16 points on 7-11 shooting along with 11 assists. Meanwhile, the Zags bench contributed just two points, one rebound, and six fouls as the depth remains an issue. We look ahead to GU's game against Pacific on Saturday, and whether a win against the Tigers would be enough to push Gonzaga back into the AP Top 25, especially now that teams like Virginia, Indiana State, and Oklahoma have already lost. Finally, we close out the show discussing the women's team who were not included in the Top 16 reveal despite being 11th in the NET and the first women's program in the country to 25 victories. Then we give a brief preview of the Zags baseball team, who were picked to finish sixth in the WCC and who open the season on Friday evening against UCLA. A drummer? On a podcast about songwriting? What is this abomination?? Truth is, it's not an abomination at all! An aberration, maybe but a cool one. Or at least, I think it is. I hope you do too. No, the format of Write You a Song isn't changing. I simply had the opportunity to interview a professional Nashville drummer named Will Johnston, whom I got to know a bit last summer when the artist he tours with, Elvie Shane, did a small show for our radio station. Will and I were talking about the recording process, and we started thinking that some music fans might find it interesting to hear from someone who helps create the finished product that starts when a writer puts pen to paper (or, more likely these days, cursor to screen). Since it's not technically an episode about writing, I'm dropping it as a surprise, bonus episode. First one I've done but, if you like it, it may not be the last. So if you've ever wondered about the musicians who play on the songs that become a part of a lives well, here's one of 'em. And I hope you enjoy :)See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In 1988, the law on abortion was struck down by the Supreme Court of Canada. The Supreme Court tasked Parliament with bringing forward a new law to fill the gap made by the strike down. No Parliament, led by Conservatives nor by Liberals, has successfully brought forward a law yet.In the absence of a law, anything goes. This means that abortion is currently legal in Canada right up until birth. Most Canadians do not know this. This is why so many Canadians were shocked to learn that a 38-week-old child was aborted in a Montreal hospital on February 2nd. I personally felt compelled to record a video about the situation and launch a petition. That video has been viewed over 60,000 times, and almost 6500 Canadians have signed the petition.Visit https://www.4mycanada.com to watch that video and sign the petition. Here with us to talk about the 38-week abortion and important considerations surrounding the situation are Dr. Will Johnston and Dr. Laura Lewis. Both of them have had successful medical practices and have often spoken on the issue. Joining them is Mike Schouten from We Need A Law, a national nonprofit committed to raising awareness on the life issue in Canada and providing advocacy tools. The Perfect Property with Juli St GeorgeGuest: Will Johnston, Executive Director, MicroLife InstituteSummary: This episode of The Perfect Property podcast highlights a movement that has captured the imaginations of people interested in downsizing (or “rightsizing”) their property while upgrading their quality of life. Host Juli St George welcomes Will Johnston, executive director of the MicroLife Institute, a thought leader and innovator in the micro-living, or Tiny House, space. Their conversation explores a new approach to the built environment – the spaces in which we live, work and recreate every day. Will shares the story of how he personally came to start the MicroLife Institute and his journey to establishing The Cottages on Vaughan in Clarkston, Georgia, a model community that is redefining the parameters of real estate development. Studies indicate that people of all ages and different stages of life desire not only a stronger sense of community, but also improved economies of scale, environmental footprints and housing equity. The Cottages on Vaughan, an inaugural project for the MicroLife Institute, provides a template that's stirring interest nationally and abroad – not least because of the powerful punch it packs within a tiny footprint (around 650 square feet). Will describes the interior layout and shares the philosophy behind outdoor spaces designed to foster a sense of neighborhood – from shared tools to a communal fire pit and pizza oven. The MicroLife Institute is tracking the demographics and data suggest that many people are ready to trade in a huge, isolated suburban home for more nimble, walkable, interconnected housing enclaves, or Pocket Neighborhoods, that offer a very personal sense of home and belonging. Enjoy this tour of a housing trend that's here to stay. What You'll Learn: · How Will ditched traditional corporate life in favor of the micro-life way. (2:12)· The spectrum of conversations going on around the concept of micro-housing. (3:29)· Will highlights the fundamental principles of micro-life and Pocket Neighborhoods.(5:08)· All about Cottages on Vaughan, MicroLife's pilot project in Clarkston, Georgia. (19:36)· “Layers of separation” are critical to Ross Chapin's vision for Pocket Neighborhoods that foster community while preserving privacy and space. (21:45)· Pets are welcome – and here's how it works. (22:29)· Costs associated with owning and living in a Tiny Home community. (24:42)Key Points: “We are told that you get in debt, move into the house, keep up with the Joneses and all that jazz. I knew that that was not my story.” “We don't want people to build bigger just for the sake of money. We want people to be smart about how they utilize space and create that walkability that creates community.”“The more I read 'The Color of Law' and the more I get into conversations about exclusionary zoning, it makes me so angry about the world we built in the built environment.” “We have a huge gap in the built environment of people w

Minimalist living is all the rage — especially for millennials who can't afford the houses their parents bought. But the minimalist revolution is two-pronged: elderly people also want a place to downsize to in the neighborhoods they lived in for most of their life. That's why tiny home communities are one of the best investments to make right now. In this episode, Will Johnston, founder of the MicroLife Institute and first tiny home developer in Atlanta, joins me to share how to make out like a bandit from this coming revolution. Here Are The Show Highlights: Why listening to what society says will make you happy will slowly suffocate your happiness (1:18) The “Atlanta Soapbox Secret” that will help you launch that new business idea you're thinking of (6:18) Why single family homes are bankrupting big cities (and the tiny solution to fix it) (14:36) How a nonprofit shields you from greed accusations and allows you to create more positive change (even if you make a boatload of money) (18:07) The insidious way moving into a new neighborhood makes elderly people die sooner (20:11) The missing ingredient tiny home communities have that will give you more profits and happier tenants (26:27) If you're interested in learning more about the Community Prices Maximizing System that guarantees you'll get the highest possible price from your mobile park homes, shoot me an email at info@themhpbroker.com or give me a call at 678-932-0200. The province’s eight stateside friaries are located in Denver, Blackforest, and Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Lawrence, Kansas and San Antonio, Texas. Usually found in the poorer sections of towns and cities, the Capuchins have a special charism for working among the poor and marginalized and taking assignments that others refuse. “When times were at their worst and help was sorely needed, in places that were abandoned and where no one else would go, there you will find the Capuchin.” ~ Pope Pius XI What is a Capuchin Franciscan? In the 16th century, a group of Franciscans were inspired to live the Franciscan lifestyle in a more radical manner, returning to the original emphasis on prayer and poverty. These men broke away from the Franciscans and began a reform movement which stressed the priority of contemplative prayer and a more rigorous austerity. Wearing habits with large hoods, they soon garnered the name cappucio, the Italian word for “hood.” The Capuchins received approval of their way of life and were recognized as an official, independent branch of the Franciscans in 1525 in the papal bull Religionis Zellus. Could that cute little backyard cottage solve housing affordability? Okay, so…no, not by itself. But more and more, people are looking to accessory dwelling units — ADUs, for short — to add needed variety to housing choices in metro Atlanta so that people at different stages of life and income-levels can afford to live here. ADUs provide spaces for more than one household to share a single piece of land — whether it’s an in-law suite, a basement apartment, or a tiny house in the backyard. In this episode, we talk with Will Johnston of Microlife Institute about why he’s on a mission to get people to dream small. And, we pay a visit a Tiny House Festival, because…um…why not?! What’s Next ATL is powered by the Atlanta Regional Commission and hosted by Kate Sweeney. Find out more about the show at whatsnextatl.org/podcast.

Even within just regular academic school some of the most boring subjects that I had in college were the most interesting because I loved my professors. I think like I took like a history of Los Angeles Economics or something it was just very bland topic and I ended up doing a whole honors research paper on it because my professor was really cool. SUMMARY: In this episode, Brian and Chris speak with Will Johnston about the differences among churches in urban and suburban environments and how to serve people’s needs in both settings.
Albert Einstein once said, "everything must be made as simple as possible, but not simpler." When it comes to designing and implementing systems for your church's Small Groups Ministry, you'd be hard pressed to find truer words spoken. Whether you're a groups ministry veteran or brand new to the groups world, the constant challenge at every level of your ministry will not necessarily be "what" you do, but "how" you do it. Small Groups systems and strategies are not one-size-fits-all, and having a balanced perspective on how your church does groups is crucial to a healthy ministry. In this month's Group Talk, Carolyn Taketa talks with Will Johnston about understanding small groups systems, determining the best fit for your church and why that is important. Will Johnston is an author, speaker, and consultant on small group ministry, specializing in building and troubleshooting small group systems. He previously served as the groups pastor at National Community Church, a multi-site congregation in Washington DC. You can connect with Will at willfjohnston.com and on Twitter @willjohnston.
