Have you ever considered that God's questions might reveal more about you than your answers reveal about Him? When the Creator of the universe asks "Where are you?" or "Why do you doubt?" He's inviting us into something far deeper than a theological exercise.Charessa Koontz joins the podcast to discuss her new book "The 17 Questions of God and the Impact on Your Life Today," exploring how divine questions transform our spiritual journey. The number 17 holds special significance for her family, connecting biblical narratives with personal experiences of loss and restoration.• God's first question "Where are you?" invites honest confession rather than hiding in shame• The question "Where have you come from and where are you going?" challenges us to examine our past and future with intentionality• Theology of beauty connects to theology of place—creating spaces that orient us toward God• Grief has become increasingly isolated in our culture, with fewer community rituals to process loss together• Doubt isn't sinful but can lead to deeper faith when it creates curiosity that drives us toward truth• Jesus asking Peter "Do you love me?" demonstrates how restoration follows failure through love• The book features illustrations by Koontz's 12-year-old daughter Charity, making it truly a family projectFind "The 17 Questions of God" on Amazon or visit Charessa's website where you'll also discover her new sermon journals designed to help you engage with what God wants you to know, believe, and do each week.Support the showWatch Us On Youtube!

Download "10 Military Habits That Are Sabotaging Your Career... and Your Life"Today's guest is Garret Biss, a retired Marine Corps Pilot, addiction recovery coach, and TEDx Speaker. After retiring in 2015, Garret faced anxiety, depression, and displacement, turning to alcohol until suicidal ideation spurred change. Mentoring helped him overcome addiction, rediscover his identity, and reignite his passion for life. He co-founded an addiction recovery residence, created a recovery program based on positive psychology, and developed ValiantPath™️, specifically for veterans. Garret will share his journey, work with veterans, and the role of coaching in mental health. SummaryGarret Biss, a veteran and coach, shares his journey of personal development and helping other veterans reconnect with themselves. He emphasizes the importance of understanding the root causes of pain and addressing them, rather than relying on substances or behaviors as coping mechanisms. Garret highlights the difference between coaching and therapy, with coaching focusing on leveraging existing strengths to create positive outcomes. He also emphasizes the need for self-compassion and self-worth, as well as the importance of surrounding oneself with compassionate and supportive individuals. The conversation explores the challenges of transitioning out of the military and finding a new sense of purpose. The transition from military service can be traumatic, as veterans lose the connection, positive identity, and sense of meaning that the military provided. Many veterans struggle with mental health challenges, addiction, and a deflated self-worth. It is important to recognize the emotional, mental, and spiritual consequences of this transition and provide support to veterans. Personal development and self-improvement are crucial in rebuilding a better version of oneself and finding a sense of purpose and fulfillment in civilian life.TakeawaysUnderstanding the root causes of pain and addressing them is crucial for personal growth and healing.Coaching focuses on leveraging existing strengths to create positive outcomes, while therapy often focuses on diagnosing and treating mental health challenges.Self-compassion and self-worth are essential for personal growth and overcoming challenges.Surrounding oneself with compassionate and supportive individuals can greatly aid in the healing process.Transitioning out of the military can be challenging, and finding a new sense of purpose is important for veterans. Let God Have the Last Word in Your Life Today's readings are I Samuel 14, I Chronicles 4, and II Corinthians 13. We are reading from the New Living Translation. Famous last words. These last words of Paul at the end of this book have to be some of the finest ever spoken. Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love will be with you. These are beautiful amazing words to live by and aspire to. That is the with-God life that Paul has just described. That kind of life can only be achieved by the presence and the power of Christ in you. Paul is hoping for a third visit with the Corinthians. And this time, like the other times, he is trying to point this troubled little church to the important truth of the abiding, saving life of Christ in you. He tells them to examine and test themselves to see if they are in the faith because to be in the faith is to recognize your life in him. And to participate with his saving life in the world. In other words, if you don't have Christ in you, you don't have the faith. “Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love will be with you.” Those beautiful and compelling last words of Paul are out of our reach. The ESV says, Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? (II Cor 13:5) Consider these last words of Paul, today. Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love will be with you. This is only achieved by the presence of Christ in you. Receive these last words. Examine yourself. And rejoice in the fact that Christ has come to reside in you. He makes it possible. Allow Christ to live his life in and through you, so that you can experience all those amazing things described by Paul. Let God have the last word in your life.

Irrespective of the Valid Demands on Your Life Today, You Must Maintain Constant Repentance while Making Jesus the Lord of Your Life MESSAGE SUMMARY: You must maintain constant repentance with the Lord. Every relationship in your life is a day-by-day journey; therefore, your relationship with the Lord is, also, a continuous journey. In 2 Corinthians 7:10, Paul succinctly describes the difference between “grief” and “sorrow” for your sinful actions and true repentance: “For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.". God can show you those things, in your life, that He wants you to do or not do. Some of us have the “pilot light lit” because we have asked Jesus to bring the Holy Spirit into our lives; however, the “furnace isn’t engaged”. The “fire of God” is not in your life because you are not willing to come to the Lord in penitence and to repent, and you do not make Jesus the Lord of all your Life. TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: Today, Because of who I am in Jesus Christ, I will not be driven by Fear. Rather, I will abide in the Lord’s Faithfulness. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5). SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): Mathew 3:8-11; Romans 2:4-5; Psalms 32:5; Psalms 120:1-7. Gall is a "brazen boldness coupled with assurance and insolence." Hubris from ancient Greeks - "Exaggerated pride and self confidence" Ancient Greeks describe hubris as "a dangerous character flaw capable of provoking the wrath of the gods." Quote from my book: Freeing Yourself From the Narcissist in Your Life: "Today, society encourages the ascendance of high-level narcissists, rewarding them with extraordinary financial success, social status, public and private adulation." "The world courts high-level narcissists; they are highly prized and envied, frequently treated like royalty. The narcissist's interactions with others are shallow and venal. He (she) keeps people in his circle as long as they benefit him. When they become an inconvenience or cost him money...they are dismissed without warning...Despite this craven ruthlessness, the narcissist believes that he is an honorable human being. " "The narcissist is false at all times...He is practiced, a person playing a part. The narcissistic personality is the central figure in his own drama." Trust your fine discernments and your intuition to identify the true nature of the high level narcissist. One woman's amazing story through the struggles of becoming a mother and how the very same struggles shaped her positive outlook on life. Shelley is married to her high school sweetheart. They started dating at the age of 16, at which age she also learned she couldn't carry her own children, due to a unique genetic condition. It was devastating but also was not the worst news at that age when other girls her age were having abortions. Somewhere in her 20s, it really hit her, because she decided she really wanted to be a mother. Finally, in their 30s, they had a surrogate lined up. So she had the oven ready and just needed the bun to put in it. She never imagined that the real struggle would be getting the bun vs. the oven. This is where her IVF story begins and where she related to so many women who's IVF process was not successful. She shares her loss with their first try with the surrogate and all the other circumstances around that time period, from losing her dogs to a home purchase falling through. All the chaos kept her and her husband together and getting through all the losses. Today, her and her husband share an amazingly strong bond. Shelley, unabashedly, shares the struggles in her relationship having gotten married at the age of 21, their struggles, their losses, their growing up and the lessons they learned along the way that kept them together for two decades. The one thing that Shelley has learned through this all: Gratitude- the gratitude journey is the way to reduce the static in life. It's a unique space that has enabled her to live in today, with a gratitude for today. Your future will thank you for your gratitude today. Meditation is a huge key to practicing gratitude because of what it does to your awareness. Shelley considers meditation the most critical habit she has developed. Before your feet hit the ground, tell yourself that something wonderful is going to happen today. Spend the whole day looking for that awesome. Challenge your partner, husband or friend to do the same. The 4 Habits Shelley Has Developed to Ensure Her Health Habit: Walk everyday Loads of daily gratitude Drink enough water Take deep breaths FSLModern is now sponsored by Marriage OS. About Ziad Hashash : Ziad Hashash is considered by many people around the world as being one of the most gifted healers in the world. His rarely makes such a public appearance as this, so we are very grateful and honored to share his sacred healing work with our "From Heartache to Joy" audience. From an early age, those closest to Ziad noticed a spiritual depth and wisdom in him that seemed other-worldly. Having grown up in the Middle East, Ziad had a way of not allowing himself to be confined by the limitations of cultural and societal based belief systems. Instead, he found great joy spending time in nature where he could easily recognize the Divinity in all things. Over time, Ziad was able to strengthen his awareness that all is Divine to such a degree that he was able to take it out into the world and easily see it within every person, living being, and situation he experienced. Since childhood, Ziad has developed an array of healing and transformative techniques which have now become an essential part of his daily life and spiritual practice. Ziad has always had an inner-knowing that he was here to serve humanity in some way. Through a series of synchronistic events, he received confirmation after confirmation that indeed his life purpose was to be of service through reminding others of their Divine nature. For 13 years now, Ziad has served as a Holistic Healer, Spiritual Teacher and Love Ambassador empowering thousands of people around the world to live their greatest lives. Ziad specializes in helping those who feel stuck or blocked in certain areas of their lives move forward with joy and ease. Steve: Jack Butala here from Land Academy. Welcome to our Cash Flow from Land Show. In this episode, Jill and I talk about planning the rest of your life today. Jill, is there anything more important than this to do today? Jill: No. Steve: I still do it sometimes. Jill: I love it. Steve: Before we really get into, let's take a question. Jill: Okay. Brian from Seattle called in and asked, "You guys are great. I am all in. How can I convince my wife?" Steve: He's all in. Have you talked to him? Jill: I have talked to him and this is true. Steve: Of course it is, I know. I'm wondering if he's like, is he a member? Jill: [crosstalk 00:00:41] Steve: Is he a member is what I'm asking. Jill: Yeah he is. This is why I actually threw this in here because this is real and I think this comes up more than you realize Steven. Steve: Oh, you're qualified to answer this more than me. Jill: I am qualified to answer this because this is what I told Brian on a couple things. One, have her call me. No, seriously. There's something to be said for that. We women look at things differently. Steve: Really? Jill: You're so silly. Nice. Oh my goodness. All right. We all know it's true. Our gut, we have these things. We see things differently and it's a good thing. You know, if you, how do I say this? When you're looking at something, you want your wife's input. A, she might pick up on something that you missed, so that's a really good thing. Have her evaluate the situation, or the investment, or whatever it is with you. Then, for that reason. B, she better be on board or it's not going to work, so you want her to be all in. That's a good thing. Here's what I tell Brian, a couple things. A, I'm happy to talk to her. B, get her involved, listen to her. C, if she's not sure that this is something, that would be to doing our just buying and selling land and making a profit, agree on a dollar amount. Say hey sweetheart, I want to spend five hundred dollars, buy a property, make some money. I'm going to show it to you as a working example, what do you think? Because that's what he did and she was like, "Oh, I'm in." Steve: That's good. Jill: Mm-hmm (affirmative). Steve: You know, I'm going to have two points to make here. One, you should never get into any partnership or stay in one, whether it's in marriage or a business partnership or any two people doing anything if you're not better together. Jill: True. Steve: Sometimes you find out about that later and you make some changes, but two people have to be better together, so if his wife's concerned it's not a bad thing, it's a good thing, right? Then, my second point is, I have a peeve, you want to hear what it is? Jill: Uh oh, yes. Steve: Don't just say, no you're not going to get into the land business. Say, you know what? I love your spirit. I don't want to work at this job the rest of my life either, but land's not my thing at all, but I would love to own an ice cream shop, or I would love to buy skyscrapers. Land is too small. Let's go bigger. Let's provide a solution too, not just like a bitch. Jill: What your peeve is, just people that just shut down ideas for no reason? Steve: Yeah, or just say no. Like remember your parents used to do that. No. Jill: Steven are you speaking from experience? Where did this peeve come from? Steve: I have spent a lot of time in Detroit. There's a lot of people in Detroit who are, they're just, you know. My dad calls it quietly desperate, which I think is a poem or some crazy quote from some car guy somewhere. Jill: Quietly desperate.
