Hello and welcome to Rad Mom Radio – a podcast dedicated to moms and all their favorite topics. My name's Natalie, and I'm your host.My guest this week is Becca Ferry. Becca is a wife, a mom, a social media influencer, and the owner of Bettering Society where she creates and sells mental health apparel. You can find Becca on Instagram @betteringbecca and @shopbetteringsociety.I discovered Becca on Instagram - she was talking about her experience with borderline personality disorder. And I was just so impressed with her willingness to be vulnerable about something so sensitive online. I think there is a huge stigma against moms that struggle with mental health issues and because of that stigma a lot of moms won't talk about their struggles openly. It feels risky. So to see someone talking about it so openly really stood out to me. So I sent Becca a message inviting her to come on as a guest and I'm so glad she said yes because this was such an awesome conversation. I can't say enough good things about Becca, she is sweet, honest, warm, genuine, brave, and I think that the work she's doing is remarkable. So I feel very honored that I got to hang out and chat with her. In this episode we talked about Becca's experience with her mental health, borderline personality – what it is and how it has impacted her life. We talked about mental health stigma against mothers, we talked about normalizing open discussions about the darker aspects of mental health, and we talked about what it's like to talk about maternal mental health online.Thank you for listening!

In the context of motherhood it simply means that you are the author of your own story - an individual with an identity of your own with your own needs and desires. Emily and I talk about why it can be so hard for moms to maintain this main character role and practical steps they can take to prioritize themselves. If you would like to know more about Emily's coaching business you can find her on Instagram @honestlyemilyrose - you can also find out more about her podcast @worthymotherpodcast.Thank you so much for listening!

Hello and welcome to Rad Mom Radio, a podcast dedicated to moms and all their favorite topics – my name's Natalie and I'm your host.Hello and welcome back to the podcast, as always, thank you for joining me for this episode. This week my guest is Dr. Melissa Reilly – she is a Clinical Psychologist and a motherhood coach based in Lititz, Pennsylvania. In her work as a therapist, Melissa observed that her clients that were moms without a healthy mom relationship of their own, were experiencing more intense symptoms of depression and anxiety. This led her to develop her coaching program – Moms Without a Mom.Melissa herself is a mom without a mom and is able to empathize with mothers who experience the loss of their mothers due to physical distance, estrangement, and death. I reached out to Melissa about doing this episode after reading a bit about the focus of her coaching program – mostly because I myself am a mom without a mom – due to estrangement – and I have noticed that this is a topic that is not talked about openly. I'm not a huge fan of sharing a lot of information about myself, I tend to be pretty reserved. But I am a firm believer in the idea that pain has to come to the surface to be healed. The things that we put away in boxes never really sort themselves out unfortunately. Melissa makes some really good points in this episode about why this moms without a mom situation isn't talked about much, why it's a stigma, and why it's incredibly isolating for mothers. I believe that there are so many of us in the world that struggle with this, and I love that Melissa is dedicating her time and energy to helping these moms. If you yourself are a mom without a mom, for whatever reason, and I think it has to be said that the reason should never be something we're judged for – I think you will find so much value in this episode. I know I learned a lot and it gave me a lot to think about regarding letting more people into my life and allowing people to support and care for me. That is definitely something I struggle with – I lean toward being hyper-independent so that I never have to worry about being let down or disappointed. But something that Melissa said in this episode that is so true, is that we were never meant to do this alone – this being motherhood – it is impossible to be all the things we need to be without some kind of help from the people in our lives. Below you will find Melissa's website and all of her social media links as well as some helpful guides and a link for a complimentary coaching call.Website: https://www.momswithoutamom.com/https://www.instagram.com/momswithoutamom/https://www.facebook.com/Dr.MelissaReillyhttps://www.tiktok.com/@momswithoutamom Enjoy Being a Mom Again Quick Guide: https://www.momswithoutamom.com/enjoy-motherhood-again-guide Care For Yourself While You Care For Your Baby Guide: https://melissareillypsyd.lpages.co/bonding-with-baby-while-caring-for-yourself-opt-in Schedule a complimentary coaching call: https://MelissaReillyPsyD-MomsWithoutAMom.as.me/free-coaching-callThank you for listening!
