Norah Sis and Kendra Wait were All-American volleyball players for Creighton University. Both earned Big East Player of the Year honors and started all four years for the Blue Jays. They are also both playing for the Pro Volleyball Federation in their first season of professional volleyball. Kendra is a setter for the Omaha Supernovas, and Norah is an outside hitter for the Orlando Valkyries. The two former Blue Jays led Creighton to tie for 5th in the recent NCAA Division I National Championship and a win over the defending National Champion Texas Longhorns in the Mideast Regional semifinals. Both majored in nursing at Creighton and played under head coach Kirsten Booth and associate head coach Angie Oxley. Meet  @gocreighton  volleyball head coach Kirsten Bernthal Booth. She shares her amazing journey to Creighton and offers some amazing insight on how she built a successful volleyball program in the Big East. Three-time National Coach of the Year Kirsten Bernthal Booth continues to lead one of the nation's best programs at Creighton. Her influence on the sport has never been more prominent, as she's currently the President of the American Volleyball Coaches Association and is one of 17 members on the AVCA's Board of Directors. Booth has steadily built a program that has appeared in the AVCA's Top 25 poll each of the last 12 years. CU has reached 13 of the last 14 NCAA Tournaments and earned six national seeds, including a 2016 postseason run to the Elite Eight, Sweet Sixteen trips in 2015, 2016 and 2023, and an unprecedented 10 straight BIG EAST regular-season titles. Since the start of 2014, CU is 176-13 against league foes. Last year's team battled a myriad of injuries to finish 29-5, won five different tournaments, and boasted a pair of Academic All-Americans in Kendra Wait and Kiana Schmitt. Wait was named BIG EAST Player of the Year and Setter of the Year, while Schmitt claimed MVP honors at the BIG EAST Tournament. CU finished a perfect 15-0 at home, including 3-0 sweeps over Colgate and Minnesota en route to a return to the Sweet 16.

Maddy Siegrist is a rookie forward with the Dallas Wings in the WNBA. In college, Siegrist excelled at Villanova as a two-time Big East Player of the Year in 2022, and 2023 and being named First Team All-Big East four times. In 2022-23, she was named First Team All-American after averaging 29.2 pts, 9.2 rebs and leading her club to the Sweet Sixteen. The Friars would be no worse than the No. 2 seed in the Big East tournament with home wins over Xavier and Seton Hall. Providence is also playing for an improved NCAA Tournament seed. Is Tyler Kolek (34:55) the Big East Player of the Year? The Cumberland native has enjoyed a superb season with Marquette, which could win the league title Tuesday night. Brown's men (46:05) effectively start their postseason Saturday night. The Bears host Yale with a place in Ivy Madness at stake. A win and Brown claims the fourth spot in the league tournament at Princeton. Bryant's men (55:40) have one game left at Maine prior to beginning America East tournament action. During his time at Georgetown University, Patrick Ewing was a three-time consensus first-team All-American, two-time Big East Player of the Year, a national champion in 1984 and the 1985 national college player of the year. Josh Daeche and David Ulak interviewed James and Sabrina Southerland formerly of Benjamin N. Cardozo (NY) BIG EAST (Syracuse and Georgetown) and Pac 12 (Oregon) standout on how COVID-19 interrupted their professional basketball career overseas and put on pause a shot at Olympic Gold. James Southerland III was a current member Yokohama B-Corsairs in Japan earlier this year when COVID-19 hit. His sister Sabrina had just graduated the University of Oregon and is a member of the Oregon Track Club Elite team and was training in Eugene, Oregon when COVID-19 hit the United States. Today, there shared their story from their parents home in New York City. Both James, and Sabrina are professional athletes and were competing at the highest of levels. In Sabrina's case she was preparing to compete in this year's 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo as a member of Team USA in the 800 meters prior to the pandemic. James was four year star that played for Hall Of Fame Basketball Coach Jim Boeheim at Syracuse University. In his senior season, James tied a record for most three pointers in school history when made nine three pointers in a game against Arkansas on November 30, 2012. He finished with 35 points. He was later named Big East Player of the Week on December 3, 2012. During the 2013 BIG EAST Tournament James set a record for most three pointers (6) in a game while being named to the All-Tournament team. He was selected as a member of the East Regional All-Tournament team during the 2013 NCAA Tournament and competed in the 2013 Final Four. Sabrina Southerland would not be out done and too has had a stellar collegiate career. After three incredible years at Georgetown University where she help lead the Hoyas to three Big EAST champions and won Big EAST titles in the 1,000 meters (2015) and 800 meters (2014), and helped Georgetown to the conference indoor championship in the distance-medley relay in 2016. Sabrina left to become a member of the Oregon Ducks. In the 2017-2018 season she was named first-team All-American honors in the 800 meters (2:06.99) by taking seventh place at the NCAA Championships. She was named Pac -12 champion in the 800 meters. We discuss the impact COVID-19 has had on their careers and what is next for them.

Markus Howard is one of the most prolific players in college basketball history. He played college basketball at Marquette University and sits atop the historic Big East Conference as it's all-time leading scorer. Over Howard's four years in Milwaukee, he averaged more than 21 points per game, was named Big East Player of The Year, was a 2-time All-American and finished his career 21st ALL TIME in NCAA history in scoring. But as impressive as Markus Howard is on the floor, he is equally, if not more, impressive off of it. e founded the Fellowship of Christian Athletes club at Marquette, has been on mission trips to Costa Rica, and continually gives back to others, utilizing his platform to inspire, impact, and influence in a positive way. Creighton Women's Basketball player Jaylyn Agnew joins the podcast. Capping off her historic season, Jaylyn was named the Big EAST Player of the Year on March 4th. In addition to that honor, Agnew was listed as an honorable mention on the AP All-American Team. In the podcast, we talk about her performance as a multi-sport athlete in high school (5:15), Jaylyn talks about hitting 100 straight free throws in practice (17:53), and Jaylyn talks about her future in either the WNBA or overseas (22:50).

BONUS EPISODE Markus Howard is a senior guard for the Marquette men's basketball team. In his junior year, Howard was named the 2019 Big East Player of the Year, averaging 25.0 points per game. In 2019-20, Howard has continued his scoring ways, averaging 26.8 points per game (as of Jan. 9), leading the nation in scoring. He became Marquette's all-time leading scorer earlier this season, and in a November win over USC, Howard scored 51 points — becoming just the third player to score 50 points in a game in three straight seasons (joining Wayman Tisdale and Pete Maravich). On this episode of the podcast, we talk to Howard about his senior year at Marquette, the 51-point game, where his faith journey began, and how a missions trip to Costa Rica urged him to help start an FCA chapter at his school. Chris Mullin is a Hall of Famer both on and off the court. In college at St John's, he was the Big East Player of the Year three times. As a member of the original Dream Team at the 1992 Olympics, he was teammates with Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and other immortals. As a Golden State Warrior, he was part of the famous Run TMC trio with Mitch Richmond and Tim Hardaway. His list of achievements is far too long to be documented here. He is also one of the finest human beings anywhere. His story about what went through his mind the day he decided to retire is a classic.

Today's guest is Jen Rizzotti. Jen is entering her third season as the head coach of the George Washington women's basketball team. Jen guided the Colonials back to the NCAA Tournament in her second season at the helm in 2017-18 after leading the program to the Atlantic 10 Championship.  Rizzotti was named the 10th head coach of GW women's basketball on April 15, 2016. Coach Rizzotti spent the previous 17 seasons as the head coach of the Hartford Hawks, where she built a conference powerhouse in taking the Hawks to all six NCAA appearances in program history, winning a pair of NCAA Tournament games, and distinguishing herself as the all-time winningest coach in America East history. Inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013, Rizzotti is well-known in basketball circles around the world. After taking control of a Hartford program that went 8-19 in the year before she was hired and that had never won more than 15 games prior to her arrival, the Hawks enjoyed 11 seasons with more than 15 victories in her tenure and won at least 20 games seven times. Following the 2009-10 regular season, Rizzotti was named a finalist for the Kay Yow National Coach of the Year award after leading Hartford to a school-record 20-game winning streak, a perfect 16-0 record in conference play and the program's first-ever national ranking. Rizzotti is also deeply connected to international basketball through her involvement with the USA Women's Basketball national program. She served as head coach of 2010 FIBA Americas U18 gold medal winners as well as the 2011 U19 World Champions. In 2011 she was crowned as the USA Basketball National Coach of the Year. More recently Rizzotti served as an assistant for the 2014 FIBA World Championships and served in a support role for the USA Basketball Women's National Team's Gold Medal run at the 2016 Olympic Games. As a student-athlete at the University of Connecticut, Rizzotti first vaulted into the national spotlight as the starting point guard for the Huskies' first national championship team in 1995 with an undefeated 35-0 record. During the run to the national title, Rizzotti was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated. A former All-American and the NCAA Regional Most Outstanding Player after her junior and senior seasons, in 1996 Rizzotti virtually swept the postseason awards as Big East Player of the Year, Big East Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the Associated Press Player of the Year, the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the Wade Trophy winner. Rizzotti graduated as UConn's career leader in assists (637) and steals (349) and still ranks second all-time in those categories. As a coach and formerly as a student-athlete, Rizzotti's focus on academics has always been exemplary. Under her guidance, Hartford was ranked among the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's Academic Top 25 teams on three occasions. Another accolade from her playing days was awarded in June 2016 when the two-time Academic All-American and 1996 Academic All-American of the Year was officially inducted into the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Hall of Fame. Rizzotti played eight seasons of professional basketball following her graduation from UConn in 1996. In addition to five seasons in the WNBA - two with the Houston Comets and three with the Cleveland Rockers - she competed for three seasons with the New England Blizzard in the American Basketball League. The Total Tutor Neil Haley and Coach Karen Hall will interviewFormer Pitt Basketball Star Curtis Aiken. Aiken's success continued in his college career at the University of Pittsburgh. He played guard for the Panthers from 1983-87 and is considered a legend in the steel city. As a recruit, he was Pitt's first McDonald's High School All-American, and his numbers speak for themselves. With 1,200 career points, Aiken ranks 21st on Pitt's all-time scoring list. He ranks 8th among school leaders in assists with 378, and 12th in steals with 155. He tied the school's record with seven steals in a 1985 game against Syracuse. His performance on the court led to a number of accolades for Aiken throughout his career. He was named one of the top three seniors in the Big East prior to his senior season by Eastern Basketball, and was the Big East Player of the Week later that season. During his junior year, both Sports Illustrated and The Sporting News named Curtis the Player of the Week during the first week of January. As a key recruit, he helped pave the way for Pitt's entry into the Big East, and in his senior year, he captained Pitt's Big East regular season championship team on its way to a 25-8 overall finish and a 12-4 conference mark. Aiken is the founder and CEO of Pro Tech Compliance, Inc., a technology and services company in Pittsburgh. He is an avid supporter of several community groups in the Pittsburgh region and currently serves on the boards of organizations such as the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh, the YMCA Metro Board, the Juvenile Diabetes Fund, the Intergovernmental Cooperation Authority (ICA) Board – which oversees the city's finances, and the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute.
