Harris’ book, “Hidden Human Computers: The Black Women of NASA,” tells the story of her grandmother and other black women who made it possible for John Glenn to orbit Earth in 1962. Professor Harris is the chair of the american studies department at Macalester College. She is the author of four books. In addition to “Hidden Human Computers: The Black Women of NASA,” Harris co-authored “Black Lives Matter: with Sue Bradford Edwards. She also authored “Black Feminist Politics from Kennedy to Clinton/Obama,” and published an edited volume with Bruce Baum, “Racially Writing the Republic: Racists, Race Rebels, and Transformations of American Identity.”

Personally, I would have gone with kelly green to offset the brown, however, turquoise is very in right now.  All is right in the world when we know how to successfully combine our colors for a statement.  In all seriousness, it was nice to see them finally focus on winning the White House back from Republican control, instead of the usual bickering that was dividing the party. Ultimately, they need to come together and unify the Democrats for what will certainly be a viral campaign against the Repubs.  For now, may the best woman or man win.  In the end, I'm still predicting a Clinton/Obama ticket.  Frankly, I don't care if it's the other way around.  Truth be told, they both appeal to various factions of the Democratic Party and a double bill with both of them would create an unstoppable powerhouse come November. Now, on to the issue at hand.  Just in time for the weekend, I'm serving up some seriously deep house.  Granted, this is not exactly a "party" album per se but provides excellent ambiance for your get-togethers or when you're just sitting around and relaxing. Those of you following my release trend, know that electro-funk will be up next.  Granted, there's still the Classic Edition I've been promising.  Since I'm behind there, I'll probably up my Party Favorz 2005: Year-End Edition, which is bound to, please.  This will give me more time to work on something even older.  I'm leaning towards 1999 - 2000.  I'll keep everyone posted. I hope you enjoy this mix, cause it was a bitch to put together!  When I thought it was finished, I previewed it while driving all over town trying to get some grown-up stuff done.  That's when I discovered I completely forgot a very important song. When I finally sat down to look at it, I had already been over to Beatport buying some new stuff.  At that point, I decided to scrap the whole mix and start from the beginning.  The initial mix was divided into two sections; soulful for disc one and underground for disc two.  On the second go around, I decided to combine everything, giving the overall mix diversity with added surprises; something the initial mix lacked. Lots of layering on this one, which is fine when I have the time to preview for mistakes.  With time constraints, I haven't been so fortunate to check it out without delaying the release and subsequently falling behind.  Fingers crossed that everything falls into place. For now, just sit back and enjoy the sounds of the underground...

First and foremost, I am ecstatic about the elections on Tuesday. Looks like we got ourselves a two-way horse race between Clinton and Obama. Anyone that has been following the political blogs realizes just how passionate both camps are about their prospective candidates. What has concerned me is the vitriol hatred geared towards Hillary. Based on the supposed polling data which gives her an unfavorable "likability" rating; I suspect most of this is driven by the media. So who exactly did they poll? Frankly, after New Hampshire, we saw just how reliable those polls are. The unjustified criticism Hillary has received is unprecedented. When you hear someone like the ass-wipe Chris Matthews from MSNBC, publicly state "the only reason Hillary became a Senator and is now running for President is that her husband messed around". Huh? Well if that's the case, the only reason George Bush became Governor of Texas and subsequently President of the United States is because his last name is "Bush" and his family has a shitload of money. C'mon, where's the logic? After that, every Hillary supporter took up arms against this sexist remark and his subsequent statements that followed, attempting to justify his position. Though not as blatantly asinine, CNN hasn't faired any better in their own commentary. That's all well and good because the voters are the only people that count and I believe are smart enough to cut through all the bullshit being shown on the idiot box. Thank God for blogs where we can better serve up opinion and commentary to respond to things we either agree or disagree with; albeit in a more civilized manner. The closest we have right now on TV is C-Span, but that forum does not lend itself to healthy debate. After Super Tuesday, we'll have a clearer picture who will be the Democratic nominee. I've made no bones about the fact that I am a Hillary supporter. Regardless, if it does turn out that Barak succeeds in his bid for the nomination, then I'll be right there lending my full support. Ultimately, I would like to see a Clinton/Obama ticket run for President; if not, an Obama/Clinton ticket works just fine for me. Now, after John Edwards gets his ass whipped in his own home state of South Carolina, will you please get the hell out of the race! Governor Richardson, thank you for having the good sense to drop out after New Hampshire. As Democrats and Independents, let's come together and go into the National Convention united with one common goal; to rid the true axis of evil from Washington. Speaking of evil (you know I had to lead into it somehow), Funky House Edition 2008 v1 is a really wicked mix cooked up for all you funk heads! Side one is pure disco heaven that truly satisfies.
