The Greeks have given us a wealth of complex folklore and myths that are full of meaning for our lives. Among them are the stories of the Goddess Artemis and her human counterpart, Atalanta. They give us clues as to how to navigate the zig-zags of life. While demonstrating that life never unfolds in a straight line, the Greek myths give us inspiration to live into our fullness. Bolen declares, “Everybody has setbacks, everybody has suffering, everybody loses and wins at certain times of their lives.” She advises us to not give up; to call on the strengths of the Artemis archetype is to persevere without becoming bitter. Bolen encourages us to persist with what gives our life meaning and purpose. Bolen is the author of many books, including Goddesses in Every Woman: Powerful Archetypes in Women's Lives (Harper Paperbacks 2004), Crones Don't Whine: Concentrated Wisdom for Juicy Women (Red Wheel/Weiser 2003),The Millionth Circle: How to Change Ourselves and The World--The Essential Guide to Women's Circles (Conari Press 1999), Urgent Message from Mother: Gather the Women, Save the World (Conari Press 2008), Like a Tree: How Trees, Women, and Tree People Can People Can Save the Planet (Conari Press 2010), Artemis: The Indomitable Spirit in Everywoman (Conari Press 2014), The Tao of Psychology: Synchronicity and the Self (reissued HarperSanFrancisco 2005), Close to the Bone: Life-Threatening Illness as a Soul Journey (Conari Press 2007)Interview Date: 7/9/2014 Tags: MP3, Jean Shinoda Bolen, Jean Bolen, Artemis, Goddesses, Atalanta, Dr. Benjamin Spock, raising babies, Calydon Boar, Meleager, Athena, masculine, feminine, Hippomenes, Aphrodite, Three golden apples, heroines, walking the labyrinth, Millionth Circle, Circles, trafficking of girls and women, Fifth Women’s World Conference, 5WCW, Mythology, Women’s studies, social change

Episode 076 with Emma Kupu Mitchell and Christine Pensa, On Being Inspired, Ignited, and More Aligned On being inspired, ignited, and more aligned in our sacred self care. How our work has shifted as we have become more of who we are—in part—because of this joyful work we do together on the podcast. In a kind of Freaky Friday, Emma and Christine take turns being interviewed by each other to talk about the passion they both feel for the new ways they are showing up in the world, particularly through their sacred work and offerings. First up is Emma being interviewed by Christine. Emma is a Soul Essence Alignment Artist and has been a practitioner of holistic therapies for over 30 years, including clinical Aromatherapy, Ayurveda, Depth Numerology, Elemental Astrology, Yoga Nidra, and Sound Healing. Emma uses her extensive knowledge of ancient healing practices to create unique sound-infused sacred anointing oils and tinctures. She is one of the co-hosts of the Awakened Woman self care podcast. Emma shares why the soul is an integral part of her work because she is fascinated by the depths of who we are and what we are here to evolve into, and that’s why the soul essence is key to her work. She explains how her new Soul Essence Alignment Mandala (SEAM) work is the culmination of over 30 years experience, in alignment with the new energies moving through her. She shares how the Soul Essence Alignment is weaving in more of the Elemental Astrology, or Cosmic energies, into her Sound, Plant and Stone medicine work. She says this work feeds her own sacred self care because every person she comes into contact with is a mirror for her own journey, and she honours the sacredness of this work as a gift. Emma maintains, "My work is my play." Next up is Christine being interviewed by Emma. Christine Pensa is the face behind Art That Moves, where Ceremony is practiced as ART. Journeying with Christine is an invitation to make sacred your art of living through co-created daily ritual, bespoke ceremony, and creative practice—where she holds space for the masterpiece of you to thrive. In addition to being a visual artist, Christine is a trained Shamanic Practitioner, and Creative Way Shower who combines ancient practice with the sovereign creative voice that wants to be expressed through you. Christine is also the co-creator, and illustrator of the Soul Discovery Coloring Book published by Conari Press, as well as the co-host of the weekly podcast, Awakened Woman Self Care. Christine shares her journey from art making and teaching children and adults art and soul. She says it was time to leave behind her art production, even though she loved it, to do something she loves more—weaving her shamanic training with her joy of creating, particularly ceremony, which her guides invited her to embrace as a kind of "ceremony party planner." She shares that though many people think they don't have time to create sacred ceremony in their day, they can make simple moments sacred seamlessly and easily. She maintains the art of living with sacred intention means life is always filled with joy. Both Emma and Christine agree that Wednesdays are their favourite day and how meeting and interviewing the 75 women they have featured on the podcast has fed their sacred self care. Both are grateful for the wise women guests, and for the beautiful listeners who tune in every week. Both are grateful that this podcast seed they planted has grown into a beautiful flower—now that's sacred self care! Mosaic, New and Collected Poems, is my newest edition from Blue Bone Books. Filled with poems from the past 30 years, ones that have been read at Ceremonies for the Virginia Tech Survivors Bench dedication, and for weddings, funerals and birthdays, this book has memories, stories and personal growth evidenced throughout. David Denny, Author of "Some Divine Commotion" has said, Robin White Turtle Lysne's Mosaic is a book of tenderness, awe, and depth. Lysne explores the natural world in the manner of the mystic. With a keen eye and open heart, she communes with wolf, owl, raven, and cat. Her poems reach deeply into relationships between family members, friends, and lovers. Throughout this vast collection, Lysne's brave poems explore the joys of a life richly lived and challenge us to do the same. I am the author of 6 books, with a novel and memoir in progress. Dancing Up the Moon, Sacred Living, (both published by Conari Press) and Heart Path, and Heart Path Handbook and Poems for the Lost Deer, and Mosaic, are all published by Blue Bone Books, Santa Cruz are my works. Sit back during this busy holiday season and listen to some down to earth poetry. It will stir your heart and help you stay in the moment.

Be more focused at work? Communicate more effectively? Find work-life balance? Make smarter decisions? Be more patient with your team or family? Have greater self-confidence? Less stress? Just . . . be happier? Often, the biggest obstacle to change lies in our most deeply ingrained habits: those automatic thought processes that operate outside our consciousness, and yet have a profound impact on our behavior, shaping everything from how we respond to challenges to how we engage with others. The good news is that we can literally rewire our mental habits for the better. In Habit Changers, executive coach M.J. Ryan shares the secret weapon that has helped her highest performing clients improve their focus, better manage under pressure, enhance their emotional intelligence, become more effective leaders, and more. Inspired by the Buddhist tradition of Lojong, or "slogan practice," habit changers are simple, one-line aphorisms that, when recited, reprogram your brain’s automatic responses. Here, Ryan explains how to use the 81 Habit Changers that have demonstrated the most profound and lasting results. They include: § You can’t say yes if you can’t say no § Don’t push buttons that don’t need to be § Handshake your fear § Stand where you’d rather not § Remember your highest intention § Outsource your worry § Reach for the better thought Our capacity to change is our greatest gift as human beings. Habit Changers will help you take control of your destiny and more easily achieve the success and happiness you desire.
