At Docusign's 2026 annual meeting, the company faced a shareholder proposal from Inspire Investing over the use of non-fiduciary metrics in executive compensation. Listen to Inspire's presentation from director of corporate engagement Tim Schwarzenberger, urging the company to prioritize executive clarity and business performance over diversity incentives. "The reputational risks of ESG and DEI elements in executive compensation are well-demonstrated — and the rapidly evolving legal & regulatory landscape around such elements is an additional point in favor of fiduciary duty above all else. We are asking Docusign to defend, and fully commit, to its most critical form of inclusion: including every employee, shareholder, and customer as part of its mission of a growing company and a healthier world. Executive pay is one of those topics that always sparks debate, whether it’s CEO bonuses, shareholder backlash, or whether pay really reflects performance. And increasingly, it’s not just about how much executives are paid, but how those decisions are made, justified, and explained.Al Jurangpathy, principal at Korn Ferry specialising in executive pay and governance, talks to Sean Aylmer about the nature of executive pay in Australia, with the reality much more more complex than most people think.Find out more: https://fearandgreed.com.au/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

You're listening to American Ground Radio with Stephen Parr and Louis R. Avallone. This is the full show for January 8, 2026. 0:30 We kick off today's show with Washington's factory fraud. JD Vance’s announcement of a powerful new Assistant Attorney General—armed with nationwide authority to prosecute welfare fraud, immigration fraud, business fraud, and government waste—is the moment the era of slap-on-the-wrist accountability finally ends. With billions already exposed in places like Minnesota and trillions in potential waste on the table, the Trump-Vance team is putting real enforcement behind the Department of Government Efficiency and cutting off the financial incentives that fuel illegal immigration and benefits fraud. No more lawfare, no more fake oversight—this is the federal government getting serious about protecting taxpayers and restoring the rule of law. 9:30 Plus, we cover the Top 3 Things You Need to Know. The House passed a bill today authorizing the extension of Obamacare subsidies. The state of New York is planning on providing free daycare for children under 2 years of age. California, Superior Court judge Israel Claustro pled guilty to one count of mail fraud in conjunction with a worker's compensation scheme. 12:30 Get Performlyte from Victory Nutrition International for 20% off. Go to vni.life/agr and use the promo code AGR20. 13:00 We're pulling back the curtain on the OnlyFans economy and why it’s exploding in the middle of an affordability crisis. While Americans say they’re struggling with inflation, groceries, rent, and healthcare, the U.S. alone is now spending billions of dollars on online pornography, with OnlyFans revenue still climbing, not slowing down. We dig into the darker side of the digital age—how porn monetizes loneliness, isolation, and insecurity, teaches people to tie their worth to their bodies, and replaces real human connection with paid digital fantasy. The takeaway is unsettling: this isn’t just about adult content—it’s about a culture quietly being reshaped by big money, tech, and emotional emptiness. 16:00 The American Mamas take on the Minneapolis ICE shooting that left a woman dead after a chaotic confrontation with federal agents. Terry Netterville and Kimberly Burleson break down what really happened, why video evidence matters, and how political rhetoric, media spin, and calls to “resist ICE” are putting lives in danger. We ask the hard questions about law enforcement, activist incitement, and personal responsibility, while also recognizing the tragedy for the woman’s family. If you'd like to ask our American Mamas a question, go to our website, AmericanGroundRadio.com/mamas and click on the Ask the Mamas button. 23:00 Ken Jennings, the Jeopardy champion turned host, jumped into the political fray with a social-media swipe at President Trump and the Trump administration. What Jennings posted wasn’t just criticism, but a call for political vengeance, the kind of rhetoric that’s already tearing the country apart. It's a stark contrast of Alex Trebek's steady, apolitical legacy and proof that being brilliant with facts doesn’t automatically make someone wise. 26:00 We Dig Deep into President Trump’s warning to the military-industrial complex, after he blasted major defense contractors for overpaying executives and shareholders while under-delivering for national security. It's a closed, cushy industry that’s lost its edge—too little competition, too much comfort, and not nearly enough urgency. China churns out more than a hundred ships a year while the U.S. barely manages a handful. Trump isn’t just talking about money—he’s demanding a wartime mindset, forcing contractors to reinvest in factories, workers, and real production instead of stock buybacks and bloated paychecks, because complacency in defense doesn’t just waste dollars—it risks the country’s survival. 32:00 Get Prodovite Plus from Victory Nutrition International for 20% off. Go to vni.life/agr and use the promo code AGR20. 32:30 We take on Stephen A. Smith’s reaction to the Minneapolis ICE shooting, where he said the officer was justified—but should have “shot the tires instead.” But real-world policing doesn’t work like TV, especially when an officer is being run over by a car on icy pavement. We explain why officers are trained to shoot center mass, not tires or limbs, because missing in a split second can be fatal. Tragedy wasn’t caused by the officer—it was the result of a protester making reckless, deadly choices, while commentators safely second-guess from the sidelines. 35:30 President Trump decided to pull the U.S. out of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and that's a Bright Spot! The IPCC has long blurred science and politics, pushing alarmist conclusions that its own data doesn’t support while silencing dissenting research. The agency exists more to control policy and funding than to report honest science. Trump’s move to withdraw from the IPCC—and dozens of other UN groups—cuts off money to institutions that undermine U.S. interests and putting America first. 39:30 We take on the AOC–Jesse Watters dust-up, where a crude offhand joke from the Fox News host has now turned into a full-blown political grievance. Watters’ comment about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Stephen Miller was dumb and unnecessary, but does it really rise to the level of “sexual harassment” the congresswoman claims? President Donald Trump took aim at defense contractors Wednesday, announcing new restrictions on executive pay and stock buybacks as part of the administration's push to speed procurement and revitalize the defense industrial base. Trump said companies "are not permitted in any way, shape or form to pay dividends or buy back stock, until they are able to produce a superior product, on time and on budget." He also said he would ask Congress for a $1.5 trillion defense budget in fiscal 2027.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In this episode, Gordon Frost, Mercer's Global Rewards Solution Leader, is joined by two colleagues, Peter Boreham, European Executive Compensation Practice Leader, and David Thieke, Head of US and Canada Executive Rewards Practice. They discuss the effects of current economic uncertainty and market volatility and how companies are adjusting their executive reward plans to keep pace with the rapidly changing business environment. Interesting moments:Positioning exec compCompanies are placing increased value and weighting on telling their compensation story. They are centered as much around the how and why for executive pay level and program designs as the quantum of how much the executives are paid. Innovation in compensationMany people think innovative executive compensation programs have the most bells and whistles. But sometimes what it means is a streamlined and targeted program fit to their situation. Regulatory impactsWe have binding votes on compensation policy where, every four years in the EU and three years in the UK, you get the policy approved. Once that's approved, you cannot go outside it without shareholder approval. That held down executive compensation. Global vs. localGiven their proximity to the US, some Canadian organizations are more attuned to practices and pay levels in the US. If they are going to recruit in this global talent market, they need to be a little bit more flexible. https://www.mercer.com/insights/people-strategy/future-of-work/podcast-new-shape-of-work/

Last week, Tesla shareholders voted to approve a huge pay package for CEO Elon Musk that a judge previously struck down. If the payout is approved, Musk will receive company shares worth around US $50-billion. Last year, Loblaw's CEO was paid more than $22-million. These pay packages are supposed to act as incentives for reaching company targets, but most executives can still receive these massive payouts even if they don't meet their company's objectives.David Milstead is a reporter and columnist with The Globe's Report on Business. He joins the show to discuss why big paydays for executives still happen – and why they matter – even in instances of corporate failure.Questions? Comments? Ideas? The specifics of executive compensation packages have major implications for personal wealth building over the long term. In this episode of Off the Wall, guest co-host Emily Harper, CFP® and co-host David B. Armstrong, CFA are joined by Laura Balser, Senior Client Partner, Executive Pay and Compensation at Korn Ferry. Laura has over 20 years of experience consulting with publicly traded, privately held and not-for-profit organizations on executive reward and benefit programs across industries, including health care, distribution, manufacturing, biotechnology, and professional services. During the conversation, Laura unpacks the current trends in executive compensation based on Korn Ferry's analysis of CEO pay at the top 300 publicly traded companies (by revenue), looking at how the pandemic drove changes in compensation across different industries. She underscores the continued emphasis on variable pay as shareholders demand performance-driven compensation, and how this creates challenges for retaining talent and satisfying shareholders. Tune in for tips around negotiating executive compensation like seeking advice, anticipating counteroffers, and understanding the tax impact when exercising stock options. Laura also sheds light on emerging, innovative pay structures such as equity signing bonuses and mega grants and discusses the differences between Restricted Stock Units and Performance Stock Units. "For the first time in probably 12 years, we're seeing more material declines than we've seen in the past. If stock options have been awarded, then they're likely underwater. And if the options don't appreciate enough to warrant exercising them...the individual has lost the ability for wealth creation. This is why having RSUs or time-based units as part of the equity mix is important because at least there's a floor." – Laura Balser, Senior Client Partner, Executive Pay & Governance Episode Timeline/Key Highlights: [01:10] Introducing our guests & the topic of today's episode. [16:50] What drives pay increases at the top of the house. Plus, a deeper look at generational trends in pay transparency at lower levels of the organization. [19:00] Considerations around wealth creation opportunities and the tax liabilities that come along with stock-based compensation. On our last edition of this Summer's Queer news updates on OUTCAST UK, we turn to Manchester Pride. Manchester Pride this year was without a doubt one of the most inclusive yet and saw entry prices seem to come down in price and some special access for lower income groups. This alongside a proudly diverse lineup headed by Danny Beard and Jodie Harsh. But it seems the scars of the bad PR of the last few years has left the organisation a little unsure of engaging with the media. Interview opportunities were notable scaled back for LGBTQ+ media. With the only notable broadcast interview of the CEO this time being more of a promo for just the events of the Big Weekend. But surely people deserve a bit more than just this? After initially contacting US regarding an interview with their CEO and some headliners, the PR people got a little upset with us for asking a couple of questions about charity funding plans going forward and a few more politically loaded questions about rights for LGBTQ+ people around the world and stopped answering our emails access to their artists and VIPs. Is Pride still a protest and charity fundraiser or has it changed into something else and how do you balance all these interests? --- ALSO on this episode -a Putin ally warns of Gay Ukrainian super soldiers! Increasingly, incentives offered to executives as part of their pay packages can include delivering on a company's ESG strategy. For example, executive bonuses based in part on progress towards a company's net-zero target. In this podcast – the latest in our series on the impact of the transition towards net zero – Rachel Tucker and Anthony Voigt take a closer look at what's happening in this space. ‘ISSB™' is a Trade Mark and ‘IFRS®', ‘IASB®', ‘IFRIC®', ‘IFRS for SMEs®', ‘IAS®' and ‘SIC®' are registered Trade Marks of the IFRS Foundation and are used by KPMG IFRG Limited under licence subject to the terms and conditions contained therein. On to this week's show! Today we have a full time real estate investor who's really really smart. I've known Christian for a couple years but only in this interview do I get a better understanding of how he transitioned out of an executive position in the tech industry into a full time investor. What's especially interesting is how Christian originally capitalised his investing and how he found a bunch of cash flow, enough to replace his job income in mixed commercial/residential real estate. If you're a geek like me, you'll enjoy this episode as I can't think of anyone off the top of my head who's as successful in mixed use commercial/residential… the worst commercial too: retail, yuck! In my experience, financing is expensive when investing in mixed use but Christian has cracked that nut so if you want to learn the truth about how someone replaced their job income with real estate cash flow from operations you'll want to take notes, listen to this episode more than once. You can find Christian on the web: https://aliferous.ca/ or instagram: https://www.instagram.com/aliferousproperties/, facebook and LinkedIn @Aliferousproperties. FYI Aliferous means to have wings. I'll ask Christian to explain why he chose the name on part 2 of this interview but I'm guessing if you want your retirement planning to have wings, then invest in real estate. Please enjoy the show!
