The Labour Party has won the UK general election with a landslide majority. Traditionally seen the party of LGBTQ+ progress, there has been little in the way of support through the general election campaign as they sought to avoid any difficult issues. On our last edition of this Summer's Queer news updates on OUTCAST UK, we turn to Manchester Pride. Manchester Pride this year was without a doubt one of the most inclusive yet and saw entry prices seem to come down in price and some special access for lower income groups. This alongside a proudly diverse lineup headed by Danny Beard and Jodie Harsh. But it seems the scars of the bad PR of the last few years has left the organisation a little unsure of engaging with the media. Interview opportunities were notable scaled back for LGBTQ+ media. With the only notable broadcast interview of the CEO this time being more of a promo for just the events of the Big Weekend. But surely people deserve a bit more than just this? After initially contacting US regarding an interview with their CEO and some headliners, the PR people got a little upset with us for asking a couple of questions about charity funding plans going forward and a few more politically loaded questions about rights for LGBTQ+ people around the world and stopped answering our emails access to their artists and VIPs. Is Pride still a protest and charity fundraiser or has it changed into something else and how do you balance all these interests? --- ALSO on this episode -a Putin ally warns of Gay Ukrainian super soldiers! AND the Grindr survey that says a quarter of people are on the app to network. The boss of the company claims to have hired people he met on the app. THIS IS OUTCAST UK Graeme Smith is joined by the host of Virgin Radio Pride Daily and former Times Radio, BBC Five Live and LBC Radio newsreader Kevin McGrath for a roundup of the week's queer news stories. Newsman Kev is back with the update this week... - Russiw continues to be an absolute bin fire - when it comes to LGBTQ+ rights… The country's lower house of parliament's, passed a new law - BANNING gender reassignment surgery. It's to “protect… citizens and… children…” And people who have transitioned, won't be allowed to adopt. - Thousands of people have turned out for Pride in Budapest - with Protests against, Hungary's anti-queer right wing government. A law there, supposedly protecting kids - from content portraying homosexuality or gender reassignment - is now being applied, more and more. - And we have reaction to the new Barbie movie. It's top ratings from The Telegraph, Independent and The Guardian ... but the ex wife of Michael Gove doesn't agree. Graeme and Kevin take a look at reaction from these unlikely places. Lots more innovative, melodic, fascinating new music in this week's show! Our ALBUM OF THE WEEK is the amazing debut album of Gal Musette. She is a musical prodigy who began writing piano based lyrical compositions and performing at open mics in her home city of San Clemente, CA at the age of 10. 'Backwards Lullaby' explores the pangs of hopeless romances and unrequited love, what it's like to move beyond idealized love into the acceptance of what is real and constant, as well as the cyclical nature of life and love in relationships."baroque pop songs inspired by lost love, yearning & hopelessness""breathtakingly beautiful layered vocals ... heartfelt & vibrant mix of indie pop & folk laced confessions"In our LUVVA COVER feature, we will be playing a cover of a gorgeous song by Big Thief. The cover is by 'bedroom pop sensation' Cavetown."The tenderness in the cover is on display from the jump. The vocals are doubled to give a bit of an Elliott Smith feel here as things roll out with a beautiful tone. The song takes on a bit of a new life without steering from the original. The guitar and vocals together drive home the softness in the cover. There's a harmonic note deliver on the song that takes hold as the vocals are the driving factor. It's a simple cover but it works with earnest and sincere intentions." closedcapWe are also incredibly proud to be raising awareness of the #v4velindre fundraising project in aid of the NHS Velindre Cancer Centre. One piece of advice has served me well in my career and I share that this week. I also take some time to reflect on the life of the late comedian Kevin Mcgrath. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
A rift in time and space causes four members of the Oz 9 crew to get pulled off the space ship (bringing the median IQ up a significant number of notches) and swapped with four members of the EMF (aaaaaaaaaaand we're back to where we were, IQ-wise). This is part two of a special two-part crossover with the frankly hilarious secret agent comedy, Mission: Rejected. If you haven't heard part one yet, stop, put us on pause, go out, listen to part 1 on the Mission: Rejected feed, come back, take us off pause, because from this moment forward.... I'd say "spoilers," but let's face it... it's mostly nonsense. Be sure to listen to the fantastic comedy being dished up at Mission: Rejected (https://missionrejected.simplecast.com/). Despite being comfortable in his W-2 job, Kevin McGrath would go home with a pit in his stomach and the knowledge that there was something else that he wanted to be doing. After building up the courage, he leaped into full-time investing. A Principal with Cardinal Industrial, today we speak with Kevin about his investing journey as he shares insights into industrial real estate. Early in the show, we explore his background before discussing the industrial space. Reflecting on the pandemic, Kevin talks about how resilient industrial real estate has been. He then dives into how the rise of e-commerce is increasing the demand for industrial space, further bolstering the resilience of his niche.

In this episode, David and John catch up with Star2Star’s own Kevin McGrath, Regional Account Director. Travel back with us to the early days, way before Coronavirus, for some fun memories of when John and Kevin traveled together for sales trips and learn how Kevin has evolved his sales process over his many years of experience. Kevin shares a few examples of his technique in building relationships for large healthcare businesses as well as smaller, less complex opportunities, and gives his advice and insights for effective and efficient sales. In Vyāsa Redux: Narrative in Epic Mahābhārata (Anthem Press, 2019), Kevin McGrath examines the complex and enigmatic Vyāsa, both the primary creative poet of the Sanskrit epic Mahābhārata and a key character in the very epic he composes. In doing so McGrath focuses on what he considers the late Bronze Age portions of the epic feature prioritizing the concerns if the warrior class. In his discussion, McGrath distinguishes between plot and story and how this distinction comes to bear on the differences between preliterate and literate phases of the epic’s compositional history. CV Formatting is often overlooked but it’s a key part of ensuring your CV makes it through the recruitment process and is noticed by the hiring manager or recruiter. This is especially important as more and more companies make use of applicant tracking systems (ATS). An ATS is a software application that allows companies to handle their recruitment electronically. The ATS can store, filter and shortlist candidate data based on given criteria such as skills, experience or education. In many cases, once you apply for a role your CV goes straight into an ATS and might not even be seen by a person! Although the actual number of companies who use this software to handle their hiring needs isn’t known, it’s estimated that almost 60% of all companies and a nearly 100% of the Fortune 500 companies make use of an Applicant Tracking System. This means that if you’re actively applying for roles, it’s very likely your CV has been through one or multiple applicant tracking systems. So how can you ensure your CV stands out? In this episode of NES Chat, Kevin McGrath from our IT team debunks some applicant tracking system myths and our very own Lauren Edwards, whose background is graphic design, explains how you can use formatting to convey creativity whilst still ensuring your data stands out in an ATS. We also provide you with some quick tips to ensure your CV looks the best it can be and remains professional. We talked about: • How have resumes changed over the years? • Where is the line between a creative CV and professionalism? • How much personality should a candidate show in their CV? • How do applicant tracking systems work and how does this impact creativity? • What common misconceptions do candidates often have about applicant tracking systems? • How can candidates include creativity in their CV but also ensure their data is correctly pulled through by the ATS? • And more They also shared personal experiences and practical tips for success.
