In this episode, hosts Alan and Walt welcome a returning guest from season 3, Pat McCormack of The Golden Rage of TV. If you missed Pat's interview from last season, we highly recommend you go back and listen. Pat does give a short, Readers Digest version of his backstory, leading to the creation of The Golden Rage of TV channel on YouTube. Initially, the channel provided a spotlight to his incredible guitar work. Pat would take classic television themes and put a hard rock guitar edge to them. He admits his masterpiece is Funeral March of a Marionette (strongly associated with the Alfred Hitchcock Show). Runner up to that was his Joe Satriani-like rendition of the Get Smart theme. But, with age and some hearing issues, Pat made a change to creating mini, bite-sized documentaries or did-you-know episodes for his channel. Now, with hundreds of videos to watch, Pat is continuing to find new ways to bring the classic age of TV to life. Pat McCormack hangs out through the remainder of the show, which was an absolute blast. Walt had to review yet another horribly bad film. Then, he and Alan went through some strange news items. Finally, they all weighed in on the entertainment segment, sharing what they have been watching, reading and listening to. WATCHING Walt admits he is still fixated on the Olympics. He continues to binge Hill Street Blues on Hule and is working his way thorugh season two of The Movies That Made Us on Netflix. Alan re-watched the Harrison Ford flick, The Fugitive, with his wife and visiting Father-in-Law. Outside of that, Alan continues to catch the YouTube channels, Popcorn in Bed, Ashleigh Burton and Listening In. Cassie, from Popcorn in Bed, reacted to Jurassic Park, The Grand Budapest Hotel and What About Bob? Ashleigh reacted to The Producers, The Outsiders, Captain American: The First Avenger and Robocop. Listening In broke down a Bond theme that was never used, explored the score to Inside Out and discussed why the song, "When She Loved Me," makes us cry. Pat has been onto a lot of sports, including the Olympics and baseball. However, he admits to unwiding at the end of the day with re-runs of The Munsters on Kozy. READING Alan and Walt both are stuck trying to get back to the Star Trek behind the scenes book. Walt is also going through, "The History of the Road Trip." Pat took us all off guard with the gripping tale from his Nesspresso owner's manual. LISTENING Walt started to listen to the podcasts, The Neighborhood Listen, Dr. Death and Team Never Quit. Alan went back to one of the very first New Age albums he ever heard, Ray Lynch's, "Deep Breakfast." He also revisted Ray Lynch's, "No Blue Thing." Additionally, Alan binged episodes of The Great Escape Minute podcast and Radio Labyrinth. Pat listens to the radio show, "BK on the Air, every Saturday morning on WBHF. He also enjoys the podcasts, You Must Remember This and Gilbert Godfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast.

In this episode we get to chat with Ryan Rebalkin, a member of the Canadian Navy as well as being a podcaster and a rising YouTube first-reaction host. We start by asking what drew Ryan to join the military. We also chat about his career, his specialty and what he is currently doing. Then we jump to his first step into the world of podcast, choosing the Rocky franchise as his subject. Over time, two other Stallone-related shows came along and now all three work together under a single banner. Ryan also hosts another show called, Worst of the Best. Additionally, he has a couple of YouTube channels where he records his "first reactions" to various entertainment offerings. WATCHING Walt recommends catching up on the show, Brockmire, streaming on Hulu. He is also enjoying the reality show, Moonshiners Master Distiller, also on Hulu. Finally, both he and Alan cannot speak highly enough of The Manadolorian. Each episode seems to find a way to surpass the prior. Ryan suggests the Netflix show, The Crown. He also likes Kingdom (the MMA inspired one) on Netflix. Alan said, with the holidays, they always watch at least two flicks: Love Actually and Die Hard. After that, he said he just caught the live-action, Mulan, on Disney+ and thoroughly enjoyed it. READING Walt is still reading the book, "Texas Ranger: The Epic Life of Frank Hammer." He said he plans to finish it and the other couple of books he's mentioned over the break. Ryan is reading, "Proof of Heaven." Alan is reading the autobiography, "One Hell of a Ride: The Investigative Life of a DEA Agent," written by Pierre "Pete" Charette. Pete was interviewed by Alan on his radio show and Alan was blown away by this real-life hero battling the drug lords here and overseas. LISTENING Walt has two podcasts he wants to recommend: Good Ol' Grateful Dead Cast and The Dirty Harry Minute. High School football landed him scholarship opportunities in Alabama and Georgia. Scotty opted for Clark-Atlanta University, a well-known HBCU for broadcasting and media. While in school, Scotty realized he wasn't going to be playing football as a career. He fell in love with the microphone and got his degree in broadcasting. He grew up singing and playing music in church, so it was a natural fit to perform on the mic. He was initially hired at WSB to be a phone screener, but made a point of learning as much as he could about everything else. Fate landed him the role of producing "Word on the Street," a radio show heard Saturdays and Sundays from 9PM to midnight. He works with hosts Shelley Wynter, MalaniKai and DJ Crystal. The show is also exported as a podcast for on-demand listening. MOVIES/STREAMING: Walt began watching the Netflix show, Away. He was a little disappointed with it's slow pacing. He started to binge the older show, Halt and Catch Fire. Finally, he's been watching college football whenever he can. Scotty B is making his way through season 2 of The Umbrella Academy. We welcome to the Listeners Lounge musician Ben Cramer of the band Old Sea Brigade. Ben has been drawn to music nearly his entire life and took time to chat with us about his career thus far. In the way-back machine, he and some friends created a Green Day cover band as young teenagers. His music abilities grew and led him to a tour with the rock band, Kansas. Upon his return from his touring with them and others, Ben decided to refocus his efforts and created Old Sea Brigade. The band name had been conceived many years before, but had not yet been used. Working out of Nashville, Ben has seen his career grow incrementally and steadily and he would not have it any other way. He has a new album releasing in August of 2020 and hopes to be able to get back into the live performance as soon as possible. Movies, television and streaming: Walt really liked The Old Guard on Netflix starring Charlize Theron. He also mentioned some classics from the 80's -- Commando, The Naked Gun and Spaceballs. He said Commando and Spaceballs have not aged well, but The Naked Gun is still as funny as ever. Walt wraps up with a reminder of the remake, Midway, which Ben also said was a great flick. Ben got pulled into the documentary, World War II in Color. He also finds himself going back to binge epsiodes of The Office. He just saw (and liked) Being John Malkovich. Additionally, he admits he had avoided horror movies in his past, so he made himself watch The Shining and Silence of the Lambs. Alan was back to supporting older movies being released in the movie theaters. His recommendation was for The Empire Strikes Back, which just hit it's 40th anniversary. Alan also relayed having seen the Altanta Symphony Orchestra play the score live to the film and suggests everyone should do that one day. Music: Ben is listening to the new Neil Young release of some older pieces called, "Homegrown." He has also been listening to a lot of The Grateful Dead. This led to a conversation with Ben and Walt about The Dead and Dead and Company. Alan went in a different direction and mentioned the New Age group 2002. He also discussed playing the entire Rush discography, one album a night, after the passing of Neil Peart in January of this year. Podcasts: Walt does NOT recommend "Tuesdays with Stories" but loves "TV Confidential." Ben likes "Off Camera with Sam Jones," "The Working Songwriter," "Atlanta Monster," "S-Town" and "Wind of Change," which is about the CIA writing the hit song for the Scorpians. Alan suggests catching up on the new studio look of, "The Golden Rage of TV" with prior guest, Pat McCormack. He also suggested, "The Hitchcock Minute," which just finished.

After that stint, he wrote a them for a roller-coaster ride and then began work on creating rock guitar versions for classic television themes. While working on putting together a road show version of the album, Pat began to realize he was suffering from a hearing issue. Undaunted, Pat then turned his creative pursuits toward producing 1-2 minute short documentaries about the people and shows from the golden age of television. With over 200 episodes under his belt, he has only just begun. The guys then dive into a handful of truly strange news stories.
