I'm with the wonderful Lisa Jo Baker, as we talk about the changes, challenges, and the beauty of being in the middle. Lisa tackles how we can truly develop a healthy mindset that allows us to enjoy and stay present in this fulfilling and fruitful season of life   In this episode we discuss: 1. How to live your middle-age years to the fullest 2. How we can see our bodies as lovely and strong despite changes 3. Why she wasn't afraid to share her muffin top picture with the world   Favorite quotes: 1. I don't need to seize the day. I just need to make time to see it. I don't have the energy to seize the day. I can barely seize the moment to do laundry. But here's what I can do, this is why I wrote a whole book about it. I can see the day. That is a much lower pressure threshold. 2. Somehow as women, we want to erase the marks of time, the things that show what it took to get here. I just believe so strongly, I think about that verse so often that says ‘the Lord has made everything beautiful in its time,' and that applies to us as women. 3. My kid's feelings aren't supposed to be the boss of me. I'm not supposed to be the boss of me. The Holy Spirit is supposed to be the boss of me.   In this episode I answer these questions: 1. I have three little kids and can't keep up with all the details. How do you do it with 5 kids? How can I remember all the little things for them? (51:01) 2. How can I introduce God into people whos had zero exposure and not overwhelm them? (58:21) 3. I can't work at home without getting distracted, should I pay for a fancy coworking space? (1:02:15)   Links to great things we discussed:  1. Lisa Jo Baker 2. The Middle Matters: Why That (Extra)Ordinary Life Looks Really Good On You 3. Meghan Trainor: I'm Down 4. The Hundred-Foot Journey 5. Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip 6. Still Life 7. L'ange Curling Wand 8. Evernote Like a Pro 9. Spider-man: Far from Home 10. Spirit 11. FABFITFUN Use code ALLI to save $10.00 12. Blissdom Conference   Hope you loved this episode! If we are not careful, our work and personal life can become hectic and overwhelm us. Are you taking moments to slow down, quiet your mind and savor each moment? I spent a few days last week with a friend and client in northern Michigan at his family's two thousand acre private lake. We fished, golfed and ate some great food. I noticed how my friend seemed to enjoy every moment. One evening as we were finishing dinner, we were served a delicious dessert. It was a recipe that had been in the family for generations. He put down his fork and instructed me to take one bite very slowly and taste it. Shut my eyes and savor the flavor. It became an experience. I asked him privately about how he lives each moment so deeply. He described to me the people he knew who had everything life could offer but were miserable and did not appreciate it. He vowed not to be that person. Saturday Lesa and I took a rare trip to the movie theatre to see The Hundred-Foot Journey. A film following the travel of the Kadam family from India to France where they open a restaurant directly across the road from Madame Mallory's Michelin-starred high-end eatery. At the center of the movie is Hassan, a young man who aspires to be a chef. As a young boy he was taught to cook by his mother and learned to taste and appreciate the flavor. Much like my friend, the movie showed Hassan savoring the food and the experience. I highly recommend the movie. We all have work that needs to be done and I enjoy the satisfaction of completing a task and doing it well. However, we need to take moments to quiet our mind and slow down. I have found these moments at the beach or sitting by a lake, a therapeutic massage or yoga class. You can find a quiet place and read the Bible or a book. Take time to be thankful and pray. Whatever you decide to do, make it a priority for your own health and well-being. Start savoring life today. Question: Comment below to tell us what do you do to savor life? Have a great week!

Let's just warn you upfront: This week's episode of Movie date includes singing by Kristen, which is pretty terrible. But does anyone sound good when they're singing the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" theme song? Probably not. In addition to singing, there's also some TMNT history and analysis (as well as lots of laughs), courtesy of Scott Rosenberg of AM New York (Movie Date's resident comic book expert). Rafer and Kristen also tackle the new natural disaster movie "Into the Storm" and the food porn / cross-cultural love story "The Hundred-Foot Journey."   Subscribe to the Movie Date podcast, like Movie Date on Facebook, follow Kristen on Twitter, and leave a message for Rafer and Kristen anytime at 571-7MOVIES (571-766-8437).
