Poni has the feeling the Steelers, through the scouting department, Omar Khan/Andy Weidl and Mike Tomlin, the Steelers will take Lukas Van Ness, Joey Porter Jr. or a top offensive tackle, depending on how the board breaks two weeks from tonight. Poni concluded that there is nowhere near a consensus in the room yet. What if they have their options of any of those guys at 17th overall? Chris wouldn't be excited about Van Ness if there is a top tackle there because that is taking a luxury pick over a glaring need. Former Steeler Brett Keisel joined the show. Brett talked a whole lot about animal sex and his livestock. Brett talked about his draft experience and what it was like waiting until the 7th round before the Steelers gave him that phone call. The guys asked Brett what he thinks of Lukas Van Ness as a prospect based on his size, test scores and production. Brett talked about how things have evolved with players since he was drafted. Brett isn't a fan of the combine and doesn't think it always displays what players are all about. He thinks players are often a product of their environment and how good his was in Pittsburgh. He raved about the culture as a member of the Steelers and he thanked God that the Steelers drafted him. Prospect of the Day – Darnell Wright from Tennessee. Brian Baldinger LOVES this guy and the tape is out there from what he did against the top edge rusher in 2022 and the top edge rusher in 2023, shutting both guys down.

Former Steeler Brett Keisel joined the show. Brett let us know that he is very passionate about music and loves Pearl Jam. Poni got Brett's thoughts on Taylor Lewan getting cut and having interest in the Steelers, but isn't sure if his beef with TJ Watt will hold it back. Brett talked about some angry moments on the field. Brett said the Bengals of his era always chirped and wanted to be the Steelers so badly. Brett said he preferred playing against pocket passers instead of a runner like Lamar Jackson and talked about the first time he ever faced Mike Vick. Poni asked Brett about the Steelers big picture. Brett gave a huge shout out to how well Cam Heyward is playing at this stage of his career and said he has “no doubt” Heyward is a Hall of Famer. Brett talked about the difference in the Steelers defense and how the front got some more freedom after Dick LeBeau left. Poni wants the Steelers to move on from Mitch Trubisky and if you can trade him, what are they waiting for? The Titans cut some dead weight today, why can't the Steelers? Poni likes a handful of free agent options at backup QB more than what the Steelers have right now. Poni said his personal favorite for that spot right now is Andy Dalton.

HOF NFL insider Peter King joined the show. Peter said he chatted with Franco Harris about 5 times in his career and remembers the great conversations he had with him. Peter talked about his wife being an Italian from Pittsburgh and what Franco meant to her while living in this city. Peter said it won't be hard for the TV cameras to find people crying in the stadium Saturday night as the team pays tribute to Franco. He talked about how beloved the Steelers are as a franchise and how strong the fandom is even when the team isn't great. Peter got into how shocking the Immaculate Reception was when it happened and its meaning to football. Peter called for every team and every stadium to have a moment of silence for Franco during games this weekend. Former Steeler Brett Keisel joined the show. Brett described Franco Harris as “the best” and shared his sadness over the passing of the Steelers legend. Brett said it is such a surreal moment. Brett remembered Franco highlighting how great of a community Pittsburgh is for football and the importance of always being there for the people. Brett talked about the standard guys like Franco set for every player coming after them.

Former Steeler Brett Keisel joined the show. Brett was touched by former teammate Bryant McFadden saying he'd be a great head coach and said he'd follow the Bill Cowher mantra. He got a kick out of what Pat McAfee said in response to Cowher not liking the Jeff Saturday hire in Indy. He thinks the more players that can get into coaching would be great for the game because players always respect guys that have played before. Brett said he had a similar experience to Pomp when he visited Ben Roethlisberger and did not get offered snacks. Brett talked about Thanksgiving and the food he would have for the big day. Brett said he's unfamiliar with a player getting his own cubicle like Kenny Pickett apparently has at Steelers headquarters. He sees some comparisons between Kenny and Big Ben and their desire to win.

If you're a fan of soccer or golf, Matt and Steve have some highlights there as well. This week's show notes: John Banaszak, Chris Hoke Ryan Reaves-Pens, Steve Hutchinson O Guard Seahawks/Vikings Riverhounds- Last week the hounds ended with a 2-2 Draw with Bethlehem Steel (Pull stats) this Saturday the Hounds take on Louisville City in Louisville who are 6th in the group currently. Next Saturday the hounds have their home opener with Hartford Athletic. PGA Tour- Last week was the WGC Match Play at Austin CC. Kevin Kisner wins the brackets over Matt Kuchar. Tiger Made it to the Quarterfinals. Other top contenders were Sergio Garcia, Louis Oostuizen, Francesco Molinari. And Kevin Na. Also, Last week the Puntacana Championship was going on last week that Gream McDowell , this week the PGA Topur is at the Valero Texas open in San Antonio. After day one Sae woo Kim is in the lead -6. Not lots of big names this week as the guys get ready for the Masters next week. NCAA- the Final Four is set, 3 Texas Tech and 2 Mi State and 5 Auburn and 1 Virginia take on each other Saturday with the final game to be held Monday in Minneapolis. 2 of the 4 elite 8 games went into overtime and the Duke game was just crazy ending. NCAA Women- the women’s final four is also this weekend, Friday night, Baylor and Oregon, and Notre Dame and UConn. And the winners meet Sunday four the Championship in Tampa. Last season ND won the Championship with the skill and last min shots of Arike Ogunbowale. She and the rest of the Lady Irish are looking to go back to back. NCAA NIT Men’s- Texas wins its second NIT Championship over Lipscomb. Penguins- The Pens Won this evening over the Red Wings to Clinch a spot in the Playoffs. The seeding is still up in the air depending on the last game of the season for the Pens. Lots can happen. ( BreakDown) Kessel on the board tonight twice, with Guentzel and Crosby as well. Malkin and Letang both back in the lineup contribute nicely. Mc Cann has been all over the Ice and making lots of plays. Pirates- the Bucs are 2-3 after a win tonight over the reds. First off, the Bucs blew leads and went into extras with the Cards the previous two games including the home opener. The Defense made errors, the offense struggled with players in scoring position . The Starting pitchers were great, but are on an early season Pitch count. Steelers- the teams released Morgan Burnett, Steelers gave him 14.35 million over three years, after one season, 11 games, early season injury, and being platooned in the secondary or as a inside LB in the dime package, he asked for his release, the Steelers shopped him with no takers, so they just released him freeing up 3.63 mill on the cap, but have a dead money hit due to a roaster bonus. Todd McShay prediction of Greedy Williams LSU Cornerback as our number one draft pick. Holmes and Keisel are to announce 2nd and 3rd round picks at draft. Bens Deal- Ben has been out of town, his agent also represents Goff, Wentz, and Mariota. Those guys are in the 4th and or 5th year of their rookie deal. That may also set the bar for Ben who is in the last year of his 4yr 84 mill contract. Ben is due 23.2 mill against the Cap this season. Projected that Ben gets 2yr around 50 mill, and probably all guaranteed. Fun things this week. If there is an active shooter event or other type of emergency, would your school, business or church be prepared? Would you know what to do? We talk with Nick Keisel, the owner of Ark Safety Consulting in central Ohio, who helps individuals, businesses, schools and churches stay safe by being prepared for the type of unexpected events that we unfortunately see happen too often in everyday places in the news. The guys talk threat assessment, site vulnerability assessment, cyberbullying, Ohio K-12 drill compliance, active shooter response training and mental preparedness. Nick has an extensive security background with over 18 years of military, law enforcement and school safety experience. In 2000, he joined the United States Marine Corps where he served eight years active duty in the Military Police and Criminal Investigation fields. Nick's first assignment was with the Presidential Helicopter Squadron (Marine One Security). He traveled extensively in support of the President. Nick was later promoted to an assignment in the Internal Security Department. In 2005, upon graduating from the Apprentice Special Agent Course in Missouri, he became a Criminal Investigator and was assigned to Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California. After moving to Ohio Nick joined the Reynoldsburg Police Department in 2009. In 2012 he accepted a role as a School Resource Officer with the Reynoldsburg City School District. In late 2015, the District recognized Nick's contributions to school safety and hired him as their Director of Safety and Security. Nick now utilizes his extensive security experience at Ark Safety Consulting, helping institutions proactively identify security issues and train their people to have the necessary knowledge and level of mental preparedness to not only give them peace of mind, but also how to react quickly and effectively in an emergency situation. On this episode of KSL's beyond the badge, we honor Officer Mike Keisel of the West Jordan Police Department. Officer Keisel grew up skateboarding, and approached some kids when they were skateboarding. He offered up a skateboard deck to them. One of his first experiences with law enforcement was similar when he was younger as a skateboarder, and it stuck with him through the years, so he thought he'd offer a kind gesture to show that not all cops look at skateboarders as bad. KSL's Beyond the Badge recognizes the good work that Utah's public safety officers do every day to make each of our lives better. Listen to Utah's Morning News every weekday as Amanda Dickson highlights the everyday heroes who work tirelessly to keep us safe. Officers are nominated by their respective police chiefs, sheriffs and supervisors, and the general public. Those featured are selected by a committee composed of representatives from KSL, the Department of Public Safety and Utah Local Governments Trust. KSL has also partnered with the Utah Lieutenant Governor to help execute the program. Beyond the badge is sponsored by the Utah Local Government's Trust. Protecting those who protect you. Providing specialized insurance products and services protecting more than 540 local governments. Be safe, and come home.
