Johan Bruyneel and Spencer Martin break down Kaden Groves' win in Napoli, which came after a strange and hectic day of racing, where the race was neutralized after a massive crash that took down multiple GC contenders and key domestiques. They discuss how these losses could change the race for the overall win and what Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe will have to do to make up for the loss of Jai Hindley. Before they take off, they preview Friday's Stage 7, the Giro's first summit finish, and predict who will win, how the action will play out, and which riders present the best betting value.

Daniel Friebe and Lionel Birnie welcome Brian Nygaard for his first podcast appearance of 2025, as we look ahead to another prominent Dane's return to action this week. Jonas Vingegaard starts his bid to topple Tadej Pogačar at the Volta ao Algarve in Portugal, after a year and particularly a Tour de France that left them wondering what, if anything, they could do to dethrone the Slovenian. We ponder the question while also discussing what other impediments, besides his rivals, that Pog could encounter on his path to a fourth Tour win. We also hear from one of Vingegaard's key lieutenants, Matteo Jorgenson, and reflect on the weekend's races in Portugal, Spain and France. Life in the Peloton is proudly brought to you by MAAP This week on the pod I managed to catch up with one of the revelations of the season and one of the big players of last month's racing at the Dauphiné and Tour de France, Matteo Jorgensen. 2024 has been a huge season for Matteo. After four years knocking at the door at Movistar, last winter he made the switch to Team Visma Lease-A-Bike and he hit the ground running winning both Paris-Nice and Dwars Door Vlaanderen back in March, before coming back into top form for the summer months. I first met Matteo back in 2020 when I was still racing and I was so happy to get this chance to get to chat with him at this stage of his career, because in many ways his development is the perfect example of how the sport has changed in a short time. It was fascinating for me to hear some of the inner workings of Visma Lease-A-Bike compared to a more traditional outfit like Movistar, and to learn how the riders and teams need to work in order to perform in 2024. The changes and improvements in diet, training and race preparation are really eye-opening and I loved hearing the detail of all of this. When I spoke to Matteo he was between the Tour and Olympic Games where is representing the USA. Not only was it pretty cool to manage to get some time between the two races, but it also gave us the chance to chat about how you go about balancing two huge goals like the Tour and the Olympics. We covered a lot of ground in our chat, Matteo is a really great and open guest who happens to be literally at the top of the game! There is so much here to unpack that I'll leave you to sit back, relax and enjoy! Cheers! Mitch ----more---- The Life in the Peloton book is OUT NOW! Get your copy now exclusively at maap.cc!

We've reached another rest day of the Tour de France, which means it's time to look back on all the excitement from the second week, and ahead to the third and final week, all on the Velo Podcast. Tadej Pogacar's dominance in the Pyrénées has been mind-blowing this past weekend as he took two mountain stages in a row. And the second week at the Tour has been fast and aggressive, with breakaways struggling to stay clear. UAE Team Emirates has shown impressive tactics and teamwork, while Visma-Lease a Bike has fought hard but struggled to match an untouchable Pogačar. Host Hannah Knapp, Velo European Correspondent Andrew Hood, and former pro cyclist Bobby Julich take us through a full discussion of the latest from the Tour, including: Can Pogačar play defense now that he has a comfortable lead? Where Visma-Lease a Bike goes from here. Remco Evenepoel's excellent showing so far. Can Primož Roglič ever win the Tour? What to expect from the sprint stage on Tuesday. A look ahead at the mountain stages. Covid in the 2024 Tour de France. A quick check in on the American riders, including Matteo Jorgenson.

THEMOVE team are all scratching their heads at the tactics of UAE and Pogacar. Sometimes the mental victory is more important and that may well have happened with Jonas Vingegaard and team Visma-lease-a-bike. Please enjoy our stage preview and prediction-focused show, OŪTCOMES. The show is hosted by THEMOVE regulars Johan Bruyneel and Spencer Martin, who use their extensive knowledge and expertise to attempt to predict the outcome of each Tour de France stage while breaking down the course, contenders, and potential betting opportunities. This episode previews the Tour's 12th stage, a 203-kilometer march between Aurillac and Villeneuve-sur-Lot, which features 2,000 meters (6,600 feet) of vertical gain that will entice the breakaway while testing the sprinters' teams. Listen in to see how the duo thinks the action will play out, who will come out on top, and which riders present the best betting value.
A GC truce seems to have been called after the rest day likely because there is approximately 14,000 feet of climbing. Also, after several years of the top riders seeming to besties off the bike, is that perhaps starting to change among the big rivals.

With Wout van Aert's spring campaign ruined by a crash in Dwars door Vlaanderen on Wednesday, the Belgian's long-time bête noire, Mathieu van der Poel, started the race as the hot favourite. This week's episode of The Cycling Podcast is a special dispatch from the Côte d'Azur, partly recorded at the home of our own Captain America - better known to us as Décathlton-AG2r La Mondiale's ‘Motown Maestro' Larry Warbasse - and featuring an exclusive interview with Visma-Lease a Bike's newly crowned Paris-Nice champion, Matteo Jorgenson, on the morning after his triumph on the Promenade des Anglais. Larry and Daniel Friebe kick off with a recap of some of the week's big stories, including Paris-Nice. Jorgenson's victory was the most important in his flourishing career to date - and, over coffee in Nice's Vieux Port, the Californian by birth, Idahoer by upbringing and Niçois by adoption tells Daniel how he overcame pre-race favourite Remco Evenepoel and childhood friend Brandon McNulty. After that, also in Nice, we hear journalist François Thomazeau's reflections on what was due to be his final Race to the Sun. In the last part, it's back to Larry's secluded hideaway in Èze to hear about his week in Italy at Tirreno-Adriatico. Larry will also be in action at Milano-Sanremo at the weekend - and he reveals some of the secrets of La Classicissima here, while also pondering what Tadej Pogačar has to do to win.
