Megan Huber of Structured Freedom joins Hands-Off CEO to share her unique perspective on onboarding and how it plays a role in scaling a service-based business. Megan Huber is a scalability expert for coaches and expert-based businesses, specifically those that are teaching based on a curriculum-based learning model. Her organization, Structured Freedom, transforms hustling entrepreneurs into successful leaders and CEOs. Megan is a great resource for coaches looking to scale their business. You'll hear Mandi and Megan talk about: When clients first work with a business, they assess the quality of service and the experience during the first 90 days. Megan stresses the importance of building trust and a new relationship with them. [2:41] Client success is not only about achieving great results but also about client satisfaction and loyalty, Megan explains. The pillars of client success include onboarding, retention (meaning clients are engaged and participating), expansion (meaning they're buying other products or services), and advocacy (meaning they're spreading positive word-of-mouth about the company). [7:00] The idea that a higher-paying client will have a higher commitment level is not always true. Clients are already filling up their time with something, whether it is useful or not. As a service provider, it is important to provide clients with the environment, tools, skills, and knowledge to fulfill the promise made to them, but also to understand that resistance will come up in the minds and emotions of the new clients. [14:54] “Never Lose Another Customer" aligns with Megan's observations that the majority of drop-offs happen in the first 90 days. In her previous role as Director of Client Success for a large-scale coaching company, she observed a significant drop-off in participation and engagement around 2.5 to 3 months into the program. She and her team investigated this phenomenon and found that it was related to a specific concept, the “ideal client,” that caused confusion and embarrassment for some clients. [20:17] There are seven forms of communication that are important in the onboarding process. These include trust, introducing clients to the team, setting expectations, providing a clear roadmap, providing tools and resources, creating accountability, and fostering a sense of community. By incorporating these forms of communication, companies can help prevent drop-offs. Megan Huber grew up in a small, rural North Carolina town with a teacher for a mom. The classroom was what she knew, so when she graduated from college with no clue about what she wanted to do, she accepted her mom's offer to pay for a Master's degree in teaching. That landed her as a teacher in her hometown high school right alongside her mom. Although teaching resonated with her on some level, it wasn't until much later that Megan realized she was living her mom's vision for her life—not her own. “We all know the greatness that exists inside of us… and we have such a craving to let that version of ourselves run the show.” –Megan Huber When Megan's husband introduced her to a coaching program, it was her first real taste of personal development. There were parallels to teaching, but she still wasn't sure how the pieces fit together or what her future looked like. Megan focuses on working with female coaches who are transitioning from working with clients one-on-one to help them create, launch, and fill their group coaching programs and masterminds to build a business model that gives them more freedom. Today, Megan discusses her insights and thoughts about group discussions, community-building, and establishing leadership.One-on-One vs. Group Discussions[02:05]Based on Megan's experience, group discussion is better. She found out that her clients who worked one-on-one paled compared to those who are in groups...which far exceeded the results. Seeing other people doing their thing invites you to elevate yourself, thoughts, and actions that you are taking. One-on-one on the other hand felt like telling the same story over and over again, every single week.Building a Community[05:10]Building your own community at the free level is crucial from a marketing and leadership perspective. A Public Facebook Group which you can treat as an organic funnel that allows you to generate leads outside your Facebook group or other social platforms. You need to create content that gets the attention of your ideal clients, and it should be accessible to them for free.Identifying the Structure[08:10]Megan would talk to her client and figure out what would work best for them. Most coaches do not realize that they have a system or process that their clients could follow. It all depends on what assets, systems, and support you have in place.[11:20]The last thing that you want to happen is having more people in your programs means many problems that you need to deal with. You should always be ready for any problems that may arise at any point in time.Leveraging Group Programs[16:44]You take the old-school traditional launches except it's all automated. It is about being a leader inside a community, bringing in ideal clients, providing valuable content to them, and go live for nine days in a row with your cart opened for five days – you can fill your programs this way.Consistency[18:45]Megan's golden ticket is to simplify. The faster path to cash is simplifying your offers but it should be offers that you could be selling all the time. You want a business model that allows people to say “Yes!” to you programs monthly, and it should be duplicatable.Facebook Group Engagement [22:25]When Facebook Groups don't have as many engagements as anticipated, it is all about changing your mindset and understanding that you are the leader of your community. It's your job to ensure that you are creating content that would allow your members to engage through that content.[24:22]Any person who joins your community is the most excited about your offer in the first two weeks. You should have a rhythm and consistent content that you can post daily or scheduled – it can be a status post or Facebook Live.Conclusion[29:16]Niche yourself way more than you think. You don't know how to create the most potent and prolific content that will magnetize a certain individual. The tighter you can niche yourself, the better. Otherwise, staying broad will be difficult for you to fill that program.
