Lately, Jeanine Pirro's US Attorney's office in Washington D.C. has only been winning about half the time. This week, we discuss what's likely driving the substantial number of acquittals and mistrials. We also look at Ghislaine Maxwell's unsuccessful pro se appeal, and about whether it matters that Michael Cohen recanted (sort of) his testimony that helped convict Donald Trump in the Manhattan DA's falsification of business records case. That's for all listeners this week. Paying subscribers also hear about:* A partial victory for Alex Jones on appeal of the defamation judgment against him in Texas* A win on appeal for James O'Keefe that causes us to revisit the Food Lion case.* A defamation loss for The New York Times.* A terse Supreme Court order on the White House ballroom, with more likely to come, and* Trump's latest Kennedy Center litigation gambit: Threatening to tear down the building.Upgrade your subscription to hear the whole episode at serioustrouble.show.

Michael Cohen sits down with President Donald Trump for a remarkable and deeply personal conversation about their complicated history, reconciliation, and the decision to rebuild a friendship after years apart. Trump and Cohen discuss government weaponization, the battles they faced, Iran and the threat of nuclear weapons, the economy, immigration, tariffs, and Trump's vision for America's future.President Trump also reflects on the toughest moments of his presidency, the investigations and impeachments he faced, and why he believes Cohen's decision to recant his previous testimony took courage. The conversation takes an unexpected turn as the two discuss forgiveness, political hatred, and why their reconciliation has drawn so much attention.A candid conversation between two people who have traveled a very complicated road—and somehow found their way back to each other.

Michael Cohen and President Donald J. Trump sit down for their first interview since reconciling. They discuss their experiences together, weaponizaton of the justice system, the current headlines, White House ballroom, and much more. Tune in for an unforgettable interview.
Michael Cohen and President Trump have been through it all together. After a massive public feud, the two have reconciled, and sit down for a historic wide ranging conversation on When You Know, You Know. Tune in to hear all that and more!
The night opens with an honest to goodness live decoding session: a former CIA officer's cryptic social media post about a redacted book epilogue, worked out letter by letter on air (spoiler, it's a little anticlimactic but still fun to watch unfold). From there the crew geeks out on a chip that reportedly pulls usable power straight from quantum vacuum fluctuations, with a healthy dose of skepticism about how close "commercially viable by 2028" really is. Later on, there's a genuinely compelling theory about Michael Cohen's public break from Trump fitting an old Apprentice era pattern of controlled denunciations, plus some heartfelt shoutouts to fans, family, and sponsors who make the show possible. A little science, a little spycraft, and a little heart. Solid Saturday night.
Donald Trump has surrounded himself with sycophants, fabulists and people willing to tell him exactly what he wants to hear. On this week's edition of "Oh Schmidt! It's Friday," Jim Acosta and Steve Schmidt take a hard look at the increasingly strange world inside Trump’s orbit, including the extraordinary story of Natalie Harp and what it reveals about the people who have access to the president of the United States. They also talk about Michael Cohen’s astonishing journey back toward Trump, and then turn to something much bigger: Jon Ossoff and the emergence of a new generation of Democratic leadership. Ossoff is showing what political courage looks like at a time when too many others have chosen caution, calculation and retreat. America is entering an extraordinarily consequential stretch. Trump looks weaker. The opposition is beginning to find its voice. And the political landscape may be changing faster than Washington understands. The letters themselves are extraordinary. Pride and Prejudice references, apologies for losing focus, a line about him being her guardian and protector. Alongside them is the earlier reporting that Harp spent her first year in the White House without a security clearance while sitting beside the president for twelve or more hours a day, with world leaders routing messages through her. Melania Trump made a public appearance the same day, her first in some time. Hawk does not think that is a coincidence. Also in here: TMZ footage of Mitch McConnell on the Senate floor ten days before his hospitalization, and nine weeks without a public appearance since. Trump sitting for an interview on Michael Cohen's podcast, with George Conway's reaction. And the Cook Political Report on eight Republican Senate seats now in play. My small Pittsburgh neighborhood is the perfect example of what's wrong with liberals: They break things that work fine and "fix" things that aren't broken. Our streets never flooded until the city hatched a brilliant plan to put roundabouts at several small intersections and "improved" all the sewers with grates to keep debris out. The US-Iran conflict is at a dangerous standstill. President Donald Trump is threatening a sweeping new sanctions campaign against Iran and countries that continue doing business with it. We examine whether Washington's “economic D-Day” can force a breakthrough, whether Iran's sanctions-evasion networks and international alliances will undermine the strategy and whether Trump is making empty threats that may weaken the position of the United States. Mo Kelly and Yasmin Khan will join us for a look at 'This Week in Politics.' Friday Fabulous Florida highlights our weirdest state. CannCon and Alpha Warrior dig into a story that has them both rattled, a report on veterans' medical data reportedly flowing to Chinese research firms, and they walk through why that should worry anyone who has ever filed a VA claim. From there the conversation shifts into full debate mode over whether Americans should still bother voting given the state of the machines, with the guys taking opposite sides and dragging in everyone from Trump's endorsement posts to internet voices telling people to sit it out. They also pull up an old Michael Cohen clip resurfacing online and pick apart whether it actually says what people think it says. Expect plenty of back and forth, a little bit of hopium, and the kind of disagreement between friends that never quite turns into a fight. It is politics, distrust, and civic duty, argued the SITREP way.
CannCon and Chris Paul kick off Friday with a jaw dropping Michael Cohen and President Trump interview that has to be heard to be believed, complete with polling talk, a recantation, and a level of chumminess that raises real questions about the entire Manhattan case. From there they cover growing frustration with the Senate over stalled appointments heading into the midterms, plus a Mike Lindell announcement about the largest privately funded recount audit in US history following alleged reporting anomalies in Minnesota's governor primary. They also unpack Scott Bessent's sharp exchange on tariff refunds and who the US Treasury actually belongs to, before turning to federal agents seizing Eric Swalwell's devices under a statute the hosts find genuinely puzzling. Expect the usual banter, some Jill Biden commentary, and a few detours you will not see coming.

Donald Trump's approval rating just hit an abysmal low of 33-64 in Reuters polling. That's only one survey, but Trump also just hit a new low of 37-59 in New York Times polling averages, which suggests he's likely in the mid-30s and may be trending toward the Reuters number. This comes as Democrats appear to have flipped a state legislative district in western Pennsylvania that Trump won in 2024 by 18 points. Though that race hasn't been called yet, either way it's an 18-point shift, a very good omen. Meanwhile, a CNN analysis finds Trump badly bleeding Hispanic men, a demographic he carried in 2024, another sign his coalition is imploding. We talked about all of it with Michael Cohen, author of a new piece on GOP extremism for his Substack, Truth and Consequences. We discuss what the Pennsylvania swing portends, why a Democratic Senate majority is now at least possible, why Trump losing Latinos is a huge deal, and what it means that Democrats are voting as if Trump is on the ballot this fall.
