On this special podcast episode recorded live at the THAIFEX conference in Bangkok in March, I had a chance to speak with Olesia. On her panel session she had shared that she was afraid of the robots that were going to take over her jobs, until the day came she went to work for one of the robots. All joking aside we bonded on our shared experiences of manual data entry and how technology improves our working life. We agreed there is still work to be done for women representation in the industry, as at another industry conference, she was theonly female panellist on the topic of technology during AHICE in Singapore. Her inspiration is her 55 year old mother, who had to relocate and re-invent her life in Ukraine showing us anything is possible even under the most challenging circumstances.

Gedichte: Robert Rozhdestvensky "Человеку мало надо" (Der Mensch braucht wenig), 1973 Joseph Brodsky "Л.В.Лифшицу" (An L.V. Livshits), 1971 Igor Severyanin "Увертю́ра" (Ouvertüre), 1915 Literaturangaben und -empfehlungen: Alexei Yurchak: Everything Was Forever, Until It Was No More. The Last Soviet Generation (Princeton University Press) Birgit Menzel: "Vom Print zu Pixel. Buchmarkt und Lesen in Russland" (in: Osteuropa 1-2/2019) DJ Stalingrad: Exodus (Matthes & Seitz) Elena Guro: Lieder der Stadt (Friedenauer Presse) Einen herzlichen Dank an Birgit Menzel für das wundervolle und lehrreiche Interview sowie an Sergei und Olesia für ihre Gedichtrezitationen. Manuel: [0:19] Hast du wieder die ganze Nacht Netflix geschaut? Cari: [0:22] Nein, schlimmer. (Schlimmer?) Ich habe wach gelegen wegen asozialen Party-Leuten. Manuel: [0:29] Oh nein!

Ved. Rūta Katkevičienė.

To celebrate the end of summer we looked for something special for the podcast. After searching high and low, we found a woman hiding in Odessa, Ukraine that plays dub-techno. We thought this was perfect for the Monument, to give everyone some good feelings and proper vibes. Olesia Elfa(@dj_elfa) is the talented dj from Odessa, Ukraine. Her musical career started in Moscow 2009. Experimenting with sounds soon she came to the various shades of techno music. Elfa is well known for her good sense of music and excellent musical taste. Now she is making moves in her own production of experimental, ambient, techno and dub techno music. We asked for a Q&A, but she simply replied that she doesn't answer questions, that here music does the speaking.... Oh well :)
