Do you know where all the food you eat comes from, and what's really in it? Many of the edible-appearing products on grocery store shelves contain ingredients that have the potential to be harmful. We as consumers are marketed to by the pretty pictures on the box or claims by the manufacturer. Commercials are abundant in making us believe their products are healthy. Making healthy decisions in the grocery store requires a degree in food science to navigate misleading and confusing food labels. The reality is, we don't really know exactly what's in all our food! Mira Dessy, The Ingredient Guru has demystified the nutritional maze. If we all ate the way Mira recommends, we would have a much healthier population and planet. Dr. Rugo is also a member of the Breastcancer.org Professional Advisory Board. At the European Society for Medical Oncology Congress 2021, Dr. Rugo presented final results from the KEYNOTE-355 trial, which was looking to see if Keytruda (chemical name: pembrolizumab) and chemotherapy were better than chemotherapy alone as a first treatment for metastatic PD-L1-positive, triple-negative breast cancer. Earlier results found that adding Keytruda to chemotherapy improved progression-free survival — how long people lived before the cancer grew — for this type of breast cancer. These new results show that adding Keytruda improves overall survival — how long people live whether the breast cancer grows or not. Listen to the podcast to hear Dr. Rugo explain: what the KEYNOTE-355 aimed to do whether Keytruda offers benefits for PD-L1-negative disease why it's important for a medicine to improve overall survival as well as progression-free survival the differences in PD-L1 tests and what they mean for the effectiveness of breast cancer checkpoint inhibitor medicines Running time: 25:03

Branding has always been a cornerstone of my own agency. We've spent a ton of time and effort building brands for clients. We have, like all of you, created what we think of as a proprietary process around brand, and it's a topic that I have a great passion around. Many of you are either too polite to ask or have point-blank asked me, "Drew, what is the deal with you at Disney." Brand is part of why I love them so much. One of the aspects of Disney that I really admire and connect to the most is that I think they're just about as good as it gets in terms of understanding their brand, building their brand, and evolving their brand over time. One of the guys in the agency space who I think is really brilliant at branding is an Iowa based agency owner named Nick Westergaard. His new book, Brand Now: How to Stand Out in a Crowded, Distracted World, just came out and it is a brilliant blueprint for how to create a memorable, meaningful brand in today's chaotic time and space. Nick and I talked about are how building a brand has changed in this digital crazy, crowded, distracted time, and what are some of the elements that we as agencies can really spotlight and offer as a huge value to our clients. How do we use brand as an agency offering to stay sticky with our clients rather than a one and done project? Nick is a strategist, speaker, author, and educator. As Chief Brand Strategist at Brand Driven Digital, he helps build better brands at organizations of all sizes — from small businesses and Fortune 500 companies to President Obama’s Jobs Council. In addition to his new book, Nick is also the author of Get Scrappy: Smarter Digital Marketing for Businesses Big and Small. Nick is a sought-after keynote speaker at conferences and corporate events throughout the world. He teaches at the University of Iowa where he sits on the Advisory Council of the Marketing Institute at the Tippie College of Business and the Professional Advisory Board for the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. He is also a mentor at the Iowa Startup Accelerator. What you’ll learn about in this episode: Working with brands in a distracted, digital age How the world changed our views about how we should be looking at branding Why simplicity in branding is more critical than ever How agencies can help their clients understand what storytelling really is and how to help them construct better brand stories Why “Story” is a buzzword and how we can rescue it Why the main character in the story shouldn’t be the brand and why it should be the client’s end user Why making sure employees understand the brand is so important for your agency culture and the work that they do for clients The role agencies play in building brands and moving the brand forward How to provide real value to clients in this era of distraction and rapid change The opportunities agency owners are missing out on during the brand discovery process Why a brand is everything a company does – and why that doesn’t have to be overwhelming Why it’s important for you to plant your flag for your brand How Nick’s book can help agencies work together on their own brand The value of getting outside perspective on your own agency Ways to contact Nick Westergaard: Website: www.nickwestergaard.com Website: www.branddrivendigital.com Book: Brand Now: How to Stand Out in a Crowded, Distracted World We’re proud to announce that Hubspot is now the presenting sponsor of the Build A Better Agency podcast! A Personal Advisory Board is a group of persons who know you, your personality, your strengths and weaknesses, and who you feel comfortable sharing your goals and unique vision, and individuals who are committed to your success. There are several advantages that people (as well as companies) with advisory boards have over theircolleagues. A PAB offers you:• An unbiased outside perspective.• Increased accountability and discipline.• Enhanced self-management effectiveness.• Help in avoiding costly mistakes.• Rounding out skills and expertise lacking in your skill-set and experience.• A sounding board for evaluating new professional and business ideas and opportunities.• Enhanced community and public relations.• Strategic planning assistance and input.• Brings together centers of influence for networking introductions. The best way I can describe who should be on your Professional Advisory Board is stating who shouldn't be on your board. No current professional vendor, employer, client, potential client, competitor, direct supervisor/manager, staff/employee, romantic partner/spouse, or other relationships with whom there could be a conflict-of-interest should be allowed to sit on your PAB. Likewise, term limits are also a good way to not only keep everyone's commitment well-defined but also a way to rotate people out so that fresh ideas and personalities can intermingle.Although the reason for these individuals to sit on your PAB should be charitable by design, you might want to think about how you are going to thank board advisers at the end of their terms, or if/when they need to leave the PAB prior to their term's end. A small sign of appreciation for their dedication to your success will reap compounded benefits for you in the future. These are a few guidelines for making this a successful network of personal and professional contacts that are assisting you to move forward in your life and work. Please feel free to add to these guidelines for yourself and selectively publish appropriate guidelines to your board advisers. In the next two episodes, we'll discuss some guidelines for running an effective Personal Advisory Board.
