We hate it when there's bumper-to-bumper traffic because of "rubbernecking". By the time some people get up to the accident or incident, they feel like they deserve a long look since they've been waiting so long. It actually might be impossible to not look at an accident scene when you pull up to it. Do you slow down to see whats going on when you get to the accident scene or are you just too scared to see blood and the gore?See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Rubbernecking. It seems like every time we take a trip and have to use the Interstate, we run into some traffic that has basically come to a stop...if not, it's crawling! Why? When we finally get up close enough to see what the problem is, it's on the other side of thew Interstate! People are driving by “Rubbernecking” and it is causing a traffic slow down, a pile up, for miles back! Looking back slows you down! Paul says, “Quit rubbernecking people! And keep your eyes on Jesus!” When we continue to look at our past, the enemy can use it to discourage us and to keep us from moving forward in the kingdom of God.

In a desperate search for material, did Sam stumble on a shining gem by choosing Rubberneck by Toadies OR will he hate it and just keep listening to Cannibal Corpse? Either way, this episode is about the previously mentioned album by the previously mentioned band. I don't mean Cannibal Corpse.
The title "Rubberneck Lions" suggests a strange word soup, but there's some kind of meaning underneath the opaque lyrics, and they trend towards familiar territory for Les Claypool and Trey Anastasio. We closely inspect this track, which is one of four that survived Oysterhead's initial performance in May 2000. Get involved:InstagramFacebookEmailBurn your money
Seth and Marc drag the proverbial lake of lyrics in search of a line that isn't creepy as fuck in the song Possum Kingdom by Toadies. Unfortunately, they seem to come up pretty empty-handed.

Ep. 261 The Toadies "Rubberneck" (1994)
At last, the Toadies have taken the “Rubberneck” 25th anniversary tour on the road, a tour that lands at Metro in Chicago on October 9th. Bassist Doni Blair called in just as the band was set to take the stage in Kansas City. Discussed in this episode: The legacy and impact of the “Rubberneck” album. The Texas explosion of the 90s (including Tripping Daisy, Hagfish, Course of Empire and Reverend Horton Heat). Hagfish had a one-of-a-kind anthem back in the day.

On this Vaden Todd Lewis interview: Growing up with brimstone & fire, and dealing with the fallout of this… Why big labels ABANDONED Toadies, behind the scenes stories to some awesome Toadies songs, wishing he didn't give so many f*cks, surviving a wild stampede of people at his worst gig ever, the freedom of his childhood farm, breakthrough musical discovery of The Talking Heads & The Pixies, NAPA Valley and the most important thing he can tell you. Very cool convo with an incredibly talented songwriter Cool Guitar, Music & ELG T-Shirts! http://www.GuitarMerch.com One of my favorite Rock and Roll singers. Vaden Todd Lewis is most well-known for being the lead singer, guitarist, co-founder and primary songwriter of the awesome alt- hard rock Fort Worth band, Toadies. QHC returns after a brief hiatus (well, briefer than last time) with a brand new episode on a brand new movie, David Cronenberg's "Crimes of the Future" (2022). Hey there, it's Isaac from Powered By Rock here to bring Vaden Lewis from Toadies into the spotlight for a few minutes, and make him sweat with some on-the-spot questions. Welcome, Vaden. Are you ready to be put in the spotlight? 1 - What two bands would you tour with active or past, living or dead? 2 - Do you have a favorite horror book / horror movie of all time? 3 - As a native Texan, what is your favorite kind of Texas food (Tex-Mex, BBQ, etc...) and where do you go to eat it? 4 - Can you possibly estimate how many Lonestar beers you drank in your lifetime? 5 - If you had to get into heaven, and God said, "Play me the song that I want to hear..." what song in your catalog would you play to get into heaven? I want to thank Vaden Lewis from Toadies for stepping In the Spotlight and answering these hot seat questions. I am going to be speaking with Vaden Lewis, the frontman for the legendary Texas rock band Toadies, today about well, as much as I can because Toadies are one of my top 5 favorite bands of all time, and I have a lot of questions which 95% we won't have time for, but let's see how deep we can get on the 5% that we have time for. Toadies are going on tour this year to celebrate Rubberneck's 25th Anniversary (which happened during the pandemic). We'll be speaking to the rock legend himself, Vaden Lewis, right after this! Toadies front-man Vaden Lewis drops in to talk about the writing and recording of their landmark 90s album, "Rubberneck". Why were they lumped in with all the grunge bands of the day when they had clearly made a straightforward rock album? How did they manage to sell a million copies despite a record company that seemed to be working against them? Why did Vaden assume he'd be back working his day job at a record store within a year of signing with Interscope? Why did their equally great follow-up album take almost a decade to come out? What's the strangest thing he's seen thrown on stage? All this and more on a brand new ILRR.

When frontman Todd Lewis ventured from Texas to California to record Rubberneck, he fully expected to be back working at the record store in Fort Worth with his fellow bandmates in a year or so. And he was almost right, until "Possum Kingdom" received some airplay on LA's KROQ radio and the album skyrocketed the band into the grunge limelight and cemented this record as a classic from that era. Influenced by Talking Heads, Sex Pistols, and the Pixies, the Toadies had a uniquely heavy-punk rock sound with a slight bend toward pop sensibilities.Tracklist: Velvet Quitter Mexican Hairless Happyface I Burn I Come From The Water Eagles of Death Metal - Midnight Creeper This show is part of the Pantheon Podcast network. This episode features songs from bands outside the big 4 of grunge, but we don’t think you’ll be totally surprised. On their 1994 debut album Rubberneck, the Toadies managed to score a hit single that is still a staple of rock stations spinning 90s alternative hits. But like a lot of people, that one single is our starting point with the band. When we gave the entire album a listen, we discovered a band confident from the get-go in their style and strengths - energetic, concise, no-frills alternative riff-rock with a distinctive lead vocalist. Spending time with the record, the deeper layers revealed themselves - a circular rockabilly-esque riff on I Come From The Water, nods to the blues-based thump Led Zeppelin on Backslider - without being obvious or sounding dated. But the superior single Possum Kingdom also made us wonder what happened to the distinctive and inventive lead guitar driving that tune, and wonder if this material translated better to the live setting. Songs In This Episode: Intro - Possum Kingdom 17:59 - I Burn 20:17 - I Come From The Water 22:22 - Backslider Outro - Quitter Support the podcast, join the DMO UNION at Patreon. Another OMN Coffeeshop Conversation as always we’re in World Cup Coffee and Tea at NW 18th & Glisan in smoky Portland. With me today is Pablo, who, with Ricardo make up the Ojeda brothers, leaders of Sabrosa, the heir to their legendary Funk-Latin Band of yore…Rubberneck who tore it up in the late 90s and first part of this century. They were neo-Soul before there was neo-Soul and the new band fits right into the pocket that is so popular now. Pablo is the bass player and Ricardo is the singer and guitar player. They’ve been making music since they were kids and they may never stop. They have a crowdfunding thing going on to help get a Sabrosa album out.
Ringo Jones is an Ohio born and bred musician. His current project is rock n roll band Mad Anthony who are currently putting out 52 songs in 52 weeks. We sit down to discuss the 1994 album Rubberneck by the Toadies. As always go check out the record!!!

Movie Meltdown - Episode 325 We are coming to you "live" from this year's Meltdown Macabre Halloween celebration! There the gang settles in to decorate pumpkins, drink fancy seasonal beverages and discuss creepy movies. Plus we sit down and talk with MacLeod Andrews, the star and co-producer of They Look Like People - an independent film about friendship... and nightmares. So come join the party... And as we cautiously anthropomorphize some inanimate objects, we also discuss... John Carpenter, Perry Blackshear, like an Ikea catalog times a thousand, peculiar melancholy, cannibal movies, we've gotta have a script at that point, The Serpent and the Rainbow, can we just look at those chairs a little while longer, Danny Trejo, Hollows Grove, mom's story checked out, Alex Karpovsky, how can I make this scene better... how can I make this movie better, subjective reality, Kathryn Bigelow, sleazy ghost hunters, rocks with little bits of personality, by accident it became one of the most personal films he's made to date, random teeth that had been on the ground for like six hundred years, Bill and Ted's Terrible Adventure, Halloween, there's never a bad place for throwing knives, playing cool sax, Goodnight Mommy, Margaret Ying, what if demons are real?, I missed that beat, Doug Henning, Tim Cappello, vegan Peeps, The Exorcist, the genius DNA is passed through the babysitter, you're not fully appreciating your t-shirt, The Hole Story, oops, I accidentally came upon... a gigantic mass grave, auteur vision, creepy magicians, those old carbon copy machines, Evan Dumouchel, you are seven jobs, gore porn, Rubberneck, for years I would just sit in my bed being like... what if something takes over my body, held together by surface tension, hey it's The Fonz, Red Flag, psycho bromance, Near Dark, going over the microfiche, little candy families and I think it'll just turn into a gourd. "A heart-felt indie drama wrapped in a psychological thriller shell... with horrific elements." Alright Alright… WhiskeyBoy Radio is back, after a few weeks off. We have new recording equipment and we are ready to roll. Most of this show was recorded on the road, coming and going, or during a special "Lunch with WhiskeyBoy" session. WhiskeyBoy spends some time recapping the Music vs MS benefit concert, and kinda flips out a little while doing so. Then Whiskey talk about some of the topics in the news, some political correctness gone crazy, and other topics. We play music from Redefine, in honor of their upcoming new album (release show October 4th at Curtain Club), and we play some Toadies; to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their chart topping album, Rubberneck. Then we have a pre-race and post-race report with Whiskey and Dani from the Savage Race 10k Obstacle run. It was good times and we have a fun little chat about it. We also play a little tune that half the world is addicted to right now – Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass"! Then Whiskey closes us out with some links to check out. The whole thing kicks off with a BRAND NEW show intro. Enjoy the show. The Toadies had a monster hit in 1995 with “Possum Kingdom.” The parent album, Rubberneck, sold a million copies…then the band disappeared. Actually, they recorded a follow up, Feeler, which the record company rejected, killing the band’s momentum and sending them back to the drawing board. They eventually broke up in 2001. After a successful reunion album, No Deliverance, in 2006, they’ve decided to revisit the old songs from 13 years ago; the songs that were inexplicably seen unfit to release.
Born in Valdivia, Chile Pablo Ojeda moved to the United States at an early age growing up in Texas and then in Oregon.Pablo began playing bass in 1989 and immediately fell in love with Funk music listening to such greats as James Brown, Stevie Wonder, and Parliament. In 1991 he and his brother Ricardo Ojeda formed one of the Northwest's most popular Funk bands Rubberneck. Rubberneck toured the United States several times opening for acts like Maceo Parker, WAR, and The Greyboy Allstars and even lived in Malaga, Spain for a summer playing music.More recently Pablo has been performing with Sabroso, a band that mixes Latin rhythms with the Funk he loves so much. His first release was a 6 song EP named “Gotta Move” named so by the need to stay busy during quarantine but also because it was the goal of the EP to make you move. His next release was a single called "Treat Yo Self" featuring a slinky funk slap line and funky horns by Mr. John Nastos.Pablo's most recent release, a single entitled "Thankful" was written in November and influenced by the spirit of thankfulness given by the holiday. This song again features some amazing sax work by local Portland saxophonist John Nastos. Thankful is an up-tempo, feel-good, song meant to make you forget about the problems of the day.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/ladydiva-live-radio/exclusive-content
