Mythological Iranian king
POPULARITY
In the last episode we met 7 living former monarchs who chose to retire, hand their thrones to their children and enjoy their golden years. But not all living former monarchs chose to get off the throne, some were pushed off. In the 20th century, 28 national-level monarchies across the world were abolished. Their former sovereigns were downgraded, exiled or even executed. As the majority of these revolutions and coups happened in the first half of the century, few ex monarchs are still alive today. Their children and grandchildren carry on defunct royal dynastic lines and, if they're lucky, enjoy what's left of their ancestors' glory, palaces, and fortunes. Today there are only 4 living former monarchs who lost their thrones when their monarchies were abolished. All of their reigns ended and one began in bloodshed. And one managed to return to his former Kingdom and be democratically elected Prime minister. Let's meet them! A new edition of Roqe featuring an on-stage interview with award-winning Iranian-American author and musician Sepehr Haddad, live at the Roqe Hub, on the occasion of the release of his new book, The Harmless and Necessary Cat, a novel about a family trying to make ends meet in Allied-Occupied Iran during World War II. Given the theme of the book and conversation, Jian begins with an opening essay asking, “Why has the devastation of Iran during World War II been largely ignored?” But first up, Gazelle Sharmahd joins us from Los Angeles to discuss the horrific abduction and killing of her father, Jamshid, a U.S. national and software engineer, by the Islamic Republic regime, and the inaction of Western governments in trying to save him.
In this episode of the Back Table MSK podcast, co-hosts and interventional radiologists Dr. Aaron Fritts and Dr. Chris Beck have an in-depth discussion about bone marrow biopsies, including their preferred techniques and devices, potential complications, and management of patient expectations. To start, they cover the typical referral pathway for biopsies, the majority of which involve hematology/oncology indications. Preoperatively, managing patient expectations is important to communicate, especially regarding sedation and pain control. The IRs also walk through the biopsy steps, anatomy of the ilium, and confirmatory imaging with CT and fluoroscopy. They also share their experiences with different biopsy needles such as the OnControl, Jamshid, and Trek systems. There are advantages to using a system that comes with a powered drill, but these can also increase patient anxiety. Additionally, it is important to consider the bone density of the patient when selecting the tool. A manual system may offer sufficient force for demineralized or osteoporotic bone. The hosts also discuss potential unintended outcomes of the procedure, including dry taps and entry into joints or sacral foramina. Finally, they review post-procedural care and patient emergence from sedation. --- SHOW NOTES 00:00 Introduction 03:36 Indications for Biopsy 05:40 Patient Consent and Sedation 13:58 Procedural Steps and Confirmatory Imaging 27:04 Comparison of Different Biopsy Tools 36:11 Dealing with Complications 41:00 Post-Procedural Care --- RESOURCES BackTable VI Episode 381- Anesthesia vs. Moderate Sedation: A Spectrum of Care with Dr. Vishal Kumar: https://www.backtable.com/shows/vi/podcasts/381/anesthesia-vs-moderate-sedation-a-spectrum-of-care OnControl Powered Bone Biopsy System: https://oncontrolsystem.com/ Jamshidi Evolve Bone Marrow Needle: https://www.bd.com/en-us/products-and-solutions/products/product-families/jamshidi-evolve-bone-marrow-needle Trek Powered Bone Biopsy System: https://www.bd.com/en-us/products-and-solutions/products/product-families/bd-trek-powered-bone-biopsy-system

“Hostage diplomacy” is a term you'll frequently see in the media, but it's a misleading term. What we're really talking about: Dictators kidnapping and torturing innocent foreign civilians. In some cases, the leaders of free countries pay ransom to get them back. In some cases, the dictators also demand the release of convicted criminals who have been or can be of use to them. In some cases, both simultaneously. The Islamic Republic of Iran is the world's leading sponsor of terrorism; in 1979, in violation of the most fundamental international laws, its agents seized the American embassy in Tehran and held 66 American citizens hostage — 52 of them for 444 days. The regime in Tehran threatens Israelis with genocide and is providing weapons to Vladimir Putin so he can continue slaughtering Ukrainians for refusing to submit to him; for the crime (in his eyes) of wanting to remain free and independent. The Biden administration has now reportedly approved the release to Tehran of several Iranian criminals along with $6 billion in frozen funds. In exchange, five U.S. citizens are to be released. And that's almost certainly just part of a broader deal being kept secret from the American people and from Congress — in clear violation of American law.Billions of additional dollars appear to be involved in this deal which will not stop Tehran's nuclear weapons development program or even seriously delay it.And because you get more of what you reward, expect the hostage-taking to continue.Joining host Cliff May to discuss these topics:Gazalle Sharmahd, whose father, Jamshid or (Jimmy) Sharmahd, a German citizen, was taken prisoner by Iranian agents in Dubai in 2020. She has been tirelessly campaigning for his release ever since and urging the US and Europe to take a tougher line with the Iran's ruling mullahs.Xiyue Wang is a Chinese-born American scholar who was imprisoned in Iran from 2016 to 2019 after being falsely accused of espionage. Xiyue is a member of FDD's National Security Network. And Behnam Ben Taleblu is a senior fellow at FDD where he focuses on Iranian security and political issues.

In episode 11 of this season, John talks about the time Lakeland tried to shut down his "business." Find out how the city of Lakeland came to his house in the 90s and told him that he had 30 days to correct the zoning laws by vacating his games. We also ask how he got the handle "Exidy" and about a fellow named "Skip Church." No joke! Find out why the city of Denver just gave John's 1 Up Arcades in Denver a "MILE HIGH MUST!" There's also a bit about "gas in the diesel tank" we were made to ask. Another long episode filled with beautiful arcade goodness. Tanzania, the United Republic of (URT, is the East African country that has a very significant history along the coast of the region. The URT, represent the union of two countries with the same historical background, Tanzanian Mainland, the former Tanganyika and the Achipelago Islands of Unguja and Pemba (Zanzibar). At the time of independence, both Tanganyika and Zanzibar were under the British colonial supremacy headed by the Queen as the Head of Commonwealth states. Tanganyika under the late, Pres. Mwl. Julias Kambarage Nyerere of TANU received independence earlier than any East African country. Zanzibar, received her independence in December 1963, the new government was under the Al-Busaidy Sultan, Jamshid bin Abdallah bin Al-Saidi and his Prime Minoster Mohammed Shamte. In January 12, 1964 the Busaidy sultanate was overthrown by a revolutionary leader, Ugandan, John Okello, Field Marshall. Then, Afro-Shiraz Party led by Sheikh Abedi Aman Karume was advantageous for majority rule in the Islands. Thus, with significant historical background and reasons the two, Tanganyika and Zanzibar merged in April 26, 1964 to form the URT. The first President was Mwl Julias Kambarage Nyerere and his first Vice Preaident, Sheikh Abedi Amani Karume, at the same was the President of a Revolutionary Givernment of Zanzibar (SMZ). Thereafter, some constitutional changes had been considerably made since 1977 to 1977 for political and socio-econimic development. These can be seen briefly as indicated below for preliminary knowledge and discussio. Furthere more, from 1977 to 1992 some constitutional amendments have been made ending with re-introducing multiparty emocratic system of government. This can be briefly mentioned in part of the question i.e. 9(b).
