The Elevators' first two albums (Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators and Easter Everywhere, released, respectively, in 1966 and '67) are essential classics whose far-reaching influence transcends genre boundaries. Following a nightmarish '70s mental-hospital stint that reportedly had a devastating long-term effect on his mental health, Erickson's subsequent work revealed a singularly brilliant songwriter and performer whose talent was no less impressive for the fact that he was singing about zombies, vampires and aliens. Indeed, the demons that abound in Roky's songs are all-too-real reflections of his own troubled psyche, and the combination of the artist's oddly poetic lyrical constructions and his bracing banshee wail makes it clear, as it wasn't always, that he's not kidding. The Elevators fell apart in the late '60s, when Erickson began a three-year stretch in a state mental institution to avoid criminal prosecution on a drug charge. He didn't return to recording until the second half of the '70s, with a string of one-off singles and the four-song Sponge-label EP (reissued in 1988 as Two Headed Dog). Three of the EP's numbers were re-recorded for the 1980 CBS UK LP (the title of which is actually five unpronounceable ideograms). Roky Erickson and the Aliens is an excellent manifestation of his post-Elevators persona, expressing dark dilemmas through creepy horror-movie imagery. Roky sings such offbeat gems as “I Walked with a Zombie” and “Creature With the Atom Brain” in a tremulous voice that insists he's telling the truth — or at least believes he is. Former Creedence Clearwater bassist Stu Cook turned in an excellent production job, bringing the hard electric guitars (and Bill Miller's electric autoharp) into a sharp focus that underscores Roky's excitable state. Erickson and band seem less unstable than the drug-crazed Elevators (best remembered for “You're Gonna Miss Me”), but just barely.

Send us a textEveryone knows and loves Creedence Clearwater Revival. Their run of hits at the end of the '60's, and their enduring popularity, has rarely been equaled. Not so well-known is the story of the clashes that caused their run to end so abruptly. We take a look at how the band split and the many personal and legal issues that led to it. It ain't pretty! Well, we also kept our promise and listened to the new Coldplay album, “Moon Music”. How did it sound to us? Regular listeners won't be surprised at our reaction! In Rock News, we look some more at the issues surrounding Diddy, and look at the problems with the "stage hole" in Melbourne. Our Album You Must Listen to Before You Die is 1977's “Bat Out of Hell” by Meat Loaf. Such a great album!! Creedence Clearwater Revival, known as CCR to many fans is one of the biggest bands ever. John Fogerty, Doug Clifford, Stu Cook, and Tom Fogerty all founded the band. I had the pleasure to bassist Stu Cook about his ride to the top in the music industry and advice he has for the next generation. Stu discusses what auditioning for The Rolling Stones was like during my interview with him.

In Part 4 of CONTRA VII, Dimitri and Khalid begin exploring the musical origins and Shakespearean career arc of the East San Francisco Bay's most legendary quirked up white boys (and eventual Castle Bank victims) Creedence Clearwater Revival, including: the murky and arguably Islamic roots of blues music in the Mississippi Delta, growing up in the sleepy post-war SF suburb of El Cerrito, Tom and John Fogerty getting blues-pilled by the local black radio stations in Oakland, John getting constantly hit on by Christian Brothers at Catholic school, joining forces with schoolmates Stu Cook and Doug Clifford, becoming Tommy Fogerty and the Blue Velvets, signing with the offbeat dirtbag cawmedy jazz label Fantasy Records in 1963, being forcibly named “The Golliwogs” to ride the Bri'ish Invasion wave, John's unfortunate stint in the US Army Reserves from 1966-68, rebooting as Creedence Clearwater Revival during San Francisco's Summer of Love, John's deep hatred of the MK Silk Topper Grateful Dead scene, his even deeper hatred of LSD, Timothy Leary, and stoner culture, his insistence that they always play sober despite CCR's tactical appeal to the psychedelic crowd on “Suzie Q” and “I Put a Spell on You”, John's assumption of full Stalinist leadership over the band, his growing anxiety that there's “somethin' missing” in Doug's shuffle beat, and the construction of Fogerty's mythical bayou from the violent fever dream swamp of the Vietnam War, the political assassinations of 1968, San Francisco MK culture, and President Richard Nixon.
Swamp rock afficianados, this is your podcast!Despite forming in California, Creedence Clearwater Revival was known for their Louisiana sound often described as "swamp rock" or later as roots rock. They tended towards an earlier rock sound during a time when much of their fellow performers were moving in a more psychedelic direction. But CCR (as the band was known, or Creedence) would find prolific success in the time from 1969 to 1971 when they would produce 14 consecutive top 10 singles and five consecutive top 10 albums. The band featuring front man and multi instrumentalist John Fogerty, brother Tom Fogerty on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, Stu Cook on bass, and Doug Clifford on percussion got their start as a band playing rock standards and instrumentals in 1959 under the name "The Blue Velvets." They changed their name to "the Golliwogs" in 1964, then became CCR in 1967. The name Creedence Clearwater Revival comes from three sources - John Fogerty's friend Credence Newball, a beer commercial touting "clear water," and the word "revival" depicting the members' re-commitment to the band.Cosmo's Factory is the band's fifth studio album takes its title from the warehouse in Berkeley where the band practiced in early days. Doug "Cosmo" Clifford called it "The Factory" because they practiced there almost daily. This album went to number 1 on the Billboard 200 charts and remained there for nine weeks. It is one of those albums that appears to be a "greatest hits" album rather than a studio release because of the number of very familiar songs originating on it.The group would be prolific, but short-lived. Tom Fogerty left the group at the end of 1971 and the rest had an acrimonious falling out shortly thereafter. But for a few years, CCR produced a gigantic body of work, despite never having a number 1 hit.Wayne takes us through this classic album of swamp rock for this week's podcast. Who'll Stop the RainOften considered a Viet Nam protest song, the inspiration for this track is actually Woodstock, where multitudes of music fans congregated in the rain to hear the music of the age. It was released as a double A single along with "Travelin' Band," and went to number 2 on the American charts.Run Through the JungleAnother song mistakenly considered to be a Viet Nam protest (and often used that way in films), Fogerty wrote this about the proliferation of guns in the United States, comparing city streets to a jungle. This was another double A single release, paired with "Up Around the Bend." It has appeared in multiple films including "Air America," "Rudy," and "Tropic Thunder."Up Around the BendThis track is a more straightforward invitation to a gathering that is, as you might guess, up around the bend. It went to number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and number 3 on the UK singles charts. John Fogerty wrote this song, as he did most of the original CCR tracks.Travelin' BandThis song draws its inspiration from 1950's rock songs, particularly paying homage to the style of Little Richard. The lyrics talk about a band on the road. It's reference to "737 coming out of the sky" - a new passenger plane at the time the song was written - put the song on a list of inappropriate tracks in a post-9/11 memo by Clear Channel. ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:Main theme from the television series “Dark Shadows”A feature length horro film entitled "House of Dark Shadows" was released in 1970 based on the vampire soap opera. STAFF PICKS:Tears of a Clown by Smokey Robinson & the MiraclesLynch's staff pick has upbeat music that belies the sad lyrics depicting a man who has to put on a happy front despite facing the loss of his love. The track was originally recorded in 1966, but not released until 1970. It topped both the UK charts and the US Billboard Hot 100. Long Long Time by Linda RonstadtRob's staff pick may not be a rock song in the traditional sense, but it shows off the vocal capabilities of one of the leading female rock figures prior to her breakthrough as a soloist. The song about a woman's undying love for a guy who will never be hers went to number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100.Ain't No Mountain High Enough by Diana RossBruce features a song written by Ashford and Simpson in 1966, and originally a hit for Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell who took it to number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1967. Diana Ross released this as a solo song with a reworked sound incorporating gospel elements with strings and horns. It went to number 1 making it Ross's first number 1 solo hit.Vehicle by The Ides of MarchWayne presents a one-hit wonder out of Chicago with a funky sound and a great horns section. The vocalist and guitarist for The Ides of March would later become a founding member of Survivor. General Motors used this song extensively in national advertising, and it will tend to get you driving faster! NOVELTY TRACK:Chicken Strut by the MetersThis novelty song inspired a short-lived dance, and wraps up this week's podcast. From July 18, 2019: Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famer Stu Cook, bassist for Creedence Clearwater Revival, called in to promote the last tour of his follow-up band, Creedence Clearwater Revisited, along with an upcoming special charity concert.
The history of the iconic rock band CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL (CCR) spans from humble beginnings to their rise to fame and eventual breakup. Best known for a string of top chart hits, CCR has left a lasting impact on the music scene, inspiring fans and musicians alike. Throughout their journey, the band faced numerous challenges and internal conflicts, contributing to the bittersweet nature of their legacy. Even so, the band's music, characterised by its blend of southern rock and roll influences, remains cherished and celebrated today, demonstrating their enduring influence in the music world. During a chat with founder and drummer, DOUG 'COSMO' CLIFFORD, we talk about the success of Credence Clearwater Revival (CCR), originally formed in 1958 and achieving success only after a decade of playing together. The band reached its peak in the early 1970s with fourteen consecutive top ten singles and five consecutive top ten albums. CCR didn't sound like anything else at the time, and Cosmo credits their success to the roots of rock and roll. Comprised of John Fogerty, Tom Fogerty, Stu Cook, and Doug Cosmo Clifford, CCR weathered several name changes before experiencing their meteoric rise in popularity. Cosmo and I discuss various turning points, triumphs, and challenges the band faced during their time together, painting a vivid picture of CCR's incredible journey and what lay behind many of their evergreen hits. Doug Clifford reflects on the band's career and the difficulties they faced due to internal conflict. Tom Fogerty and Stu Cook had a strained relationship with lead singer John Fogerty due to his poor business acumen. The band ultimately disbanded when John gave the ultimatum that he would only sing one third of the songs and the other members would have to do the other two thirds. After Creedence Clearwater Revival disbanded, Tom and Stu started a production company and a remote recording vehicle and rented it out to other bands. They later formed Credence Clearwater Revisited, but had to change the name because John was not a part of it. Despite John suing them, they still won and the whole ordeal was a waste of money. He talks about how the fans were the biggest winners in the end, because they were still able to listen to the band's music. He also mentions how the death of Tom Fogerty in 1990 put an end to the hope of the band reuniting for one last show. Doug wishes he had done things differently, such as getting an entertainment lawyer and a manager to help mend the tensions between Tom and John. He concludes by recommending the book A Song For Everyone: The Story of Credence Clearwater Revival as the best one so far for the band, as it focuses more on the positives than the negatives. "Music, for me, has always been medicine". - Doug Cosmo Clifford 00:01:05 - Doug Cosmo Clifford's Background, Sandy and Doug discuss his new album, "California Gold," and his record label. Doug shares how he came up with the album and how he got Bobby Whitlock to join him. He also talks about how he and Bobby wrote the songs together. 00:18:22 - Credence Clearwater Revival's History, Sandy and Doug discuss the band's history. 00:21:01 - Credence Clearwater Revival's Beginnings, Doug shares the story of how Tom Fogerty brought them into the studio to record a demo 00:22:15 - Getting Started 00:27:25 - Woodstock Festival 00:31:00 - Staying Sober, CCR's success was largely due to the fact that they were sober while other bands were high on drugs. 00:33:00 - Drumming, Cosmo is considered one of the world's best drummers, and his technique involved using martial arts techniques with his wrist to get power. 00:39:35 - The End of CCR 00:41:40 - Overcoming Challenges 00:48:30 - The End of an Era 00:49:28 - Band Legacy Would you like to suggest a guest for this show? Doug "Cosmo" Clifford was the drummer for legendary rockers Creedence Clearwater Revival. He and bassist Stu Cook formed Creedence Clearwater Revisited, and helped keep that great music alive on the concert circuit. Since recently retiring, he's continuing to go through his "Cosmos Vault," releasing tapes that he made over the years with his musical buddies. His latest release is California Gold, a collaboration with Derek and the Dominoes' vocalist Bobby Whitlock. The tracks also feature the great Donald "Duck" Dunn on bass.Clifford talks about how he and Whitlock came together, and how, unfortunately, the project never took off. He also give details on the newly released Live at the Royal Albert Hall concert movie from CCR, which is available now to stream on Netflix.

Born on the bayou. Down on the Corner. ¡¡¡Buenas Vibraciones”.
How long is too long? In Episode 28, Derringer Discoveries covered a band that reunited with all four original members after a 40-year break. Now, for this episode, the band under the microscope is Creedence Clearwater Revival, also known as Creedence or CCR. They have been separated for 50 years! CCR's line-up was Tom Fogerty, John Fogerty, Stu Cook, and Doug "Cosmo" Clifford. Tom was John's older brother. CCR broke up in 1972, not long after Tom quit the band. Even though they have not been a functioning band for 50 years, they are still one of the Top 300 bands in the world, based on Spotify listeners. Without a doubt, you will know their songs. They even had a hit with Marvin Gaye's "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" from their biggest selling album, Cosmo's Factory. Tom has been dead since 1990. The other three have been estranged since 1972. In this episode, Team Derringer - Laura, Alton, Paul, and Dave - undertake five tasks: (1) A countdown of seven fantastic CCR songs spanning their seven albums; (2) Disclosure of CCR's #1 song, according to Spotify listeners; (3) Did they Jump the Shark; (4) Did they Cross the Rubicon; and (5) Will they reunite? Stay for the Post Episode Bonus as Team Derringer conducts an exclusive interview with Neil Richards of the UK-based band The Carousels who have been together with the same four members since 1994. Hear snippets of some of The Carousel's best songs, as selected by Derringer Discoveries. We also uncover the compelling stories behind the songs as told by Neil. RockerMike and Rob discuss the history of Creedence Clearwater Revival also referred to as Creedence and CCR, were an American rock band which recorded and performed from 1967 to 1972. The band initially consisted of lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter John Fogerty; his brother, rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty; bassist Stu Cook; and drummer Doug Clifford. These members had played together since 1959, first as the Blue Velvets and later as the Golliwogs. CCR's musical style encompassed roots rock, swamp rock, blues rock,Southern rock, and country rock.Despite their San Francisco Bay Area origin, the band played in a Southern rock style, with lyrics about bayous, catfish, the Mississippi River and other popular elements of Southern United States iconography. The band's songs rarely dealt with romantic love, concentrating instead on political and socially conscious lyrics about topics such as the Vietnam War.The band performed at the 1969 Woodstock festival in Upstate New York, and was the first major act signed to appear there. https://mobile.twitter.com/TheOfficialCCR?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor https://www.facebook.com/CCR?refsrc=https%3A%2F%2Fm.facebook.com%2FCCR&_rdr https://creedence-revisited.com/ https://open.spotify.com/artist/3IYUhFvPQItj6xySrBmZkd https://www.amazon.com/Chronicle-Greatest-Creedence-Clearwater-Revival/dp/B000000XB9 https://rockbandmerch.com/collections/creedence-clearwater-revival?gclid=Cj0KCQjwppSEBhCGARIsANIs4p7_LsNAwXciVSy-M5ryFnv34Ag06wTIt7Dczp1qlN7tDENDoTu7Q6waAlevEALw_wcB https://www.instagram.com/accounts/login/ https://music.apple.com/us/artist/creedence-clearwater-revival/2083606 https://www.iheart.com/artist/creedence-clearwater-revival-35051/ https://ccrstore.shop/ https://johnfogerty.com/ Please follow us on Youtube,Facebook,Instagram,Twitter,Patreon and at www.gettinglumpedup.com https://linktr.ee/RobRossi Get your T-shirt at https://www.prowrestlingtees.com/gettinglumpedup And https://www.bonfire.com/store/getting-lumped-up/ Subscribe to the channel and hit the like button --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rob-rossi/support https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/getting-lumped-up-with-rob-rossi/id1448899708 https://open.spotify.com/show/00ZWLZaYqQlJji1QSoEz7a https://www.patreon.com/Gettinglumpedup #creedenceclearwaterrevival #crochet #thecreative #crystals #creativephotography #peoplescreatives #creativelifehappylife #creative #cream #musicvideo #musicindustry #musicislife #musiclover #musician #musiclife #music #musicstudio #musicproducer #musicphotography --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rob-rossi/support
From the 13th Floor Elevators psychedelic innovations, to confinement in the wards of Texas psychiatric facilities from 1968 to 1972, then on to a life permanently altered, the music and voice of Roky Erickson cut through. This week's guest, Psychic Idols' Jim Dingus, brings us The Evil One, a collection of recordings by Roky produced by CCR's Stu Cook. It's a perfect melding of Roky's observations of his haunted inner world with a crack ensemble playing taught, compelling arrangements. This album is fantastic. On September 19th, 1969 Creedence Clearwater Revival started a four-week run at number one on the US album chart with 'Green River.' It was one of three albums the band released in just that year alone. The number seven album 'Bayou Country' before it with the number three album 'Willie and the Poorboys' coming after. By the end of 1969, Creedence had three top-10 albums on the Billboard 200, and four top-five singles on the Billboard Hot 100. CCR was everywhere by the summer of 1969 and the bulk of the credit has to go to the band's main songwriter John Fogerty. There’s no arguing that John was a songwriting machine at that point and you'll hear why he was intentionally writing as much as he could with the goal of writing as many hits as he could in this episode. There is also, of course, the well documented battles John had with his bandmates including his brother Tom Fogerty and it all came down to the songs; more specifically who gets credit for the songs and who gets paid for them. We’ll explore that topic as well but, above all, this episode will celebrate the songs singer/guitarist John Fogerty, guitarist Tom Fogerty, bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford recorded on 'Green River' while giving you the stories behind each. Doug Clifford - Get Your Raise (1972) Doug Clifford - Guitars, Drums, And Girls (1972) From Wikipedia: "It's not in print, and I don't see any reason why... why it would even be relevant. When [Creedence Clearwater] Revival broke up, we all ended up having individual contracts, so I decided to make a record and see what it was like. Secondly, we had the Cosmo's Factory building under a long-term lease, and Stu [Cook, of Creedence Clearwater Revival and Revisited] has plans... the remote recording vehicle starting to appear in that time period, they had one in L.A. that I used for that record. We thought we could back it into the building, which was an old warehouse, and run a snake that would allow us to hook up microphones inside our own rehearsal area and use it as a recording studio. We each had bands we wanted to record and try and get record deals for, and make money that way, and also give us capital and use that machine because there were none in the San Francisco Bay Area. So that's it... I think it's a terrible record. The band is good. The band is great. I had really good players on that record but I... obviously I'm not a singer. So that's not something I'm interested in." Doug Clifford - Daydream (1972) Tom Fogerty - Goodbye, Media Man (1971) Tom Fogerty - Show Down (1974)
Doug “Cosmo” Clifford was the drummer for the legendary band, Creedence Clearwater Revival – recording seven studio albums, and charting 12 songs in the Top 40, many like “Proud Mary” and “Fortunate Son,” woven into the fabric of our American culture. He helped keep that music alive in the concert scene with bassist Stu Cook in Creedence Clearwater Revisited – a band that just hung up their shoes last year. With a little extra time on his hands, Clifford did some spring cleaning and came across a stack of tapes that he’d forgotten about – among them a solo album that he recorded back in 1985, but never released called Magic Window. Now, 35 years later, that record is finally getting its release. We chat about the early beginnings of CCR, what a crazy year 1969 was for the band (3 albums and a historic performance at Woodstock), and how some of his musical buddies have been holding up during this pandemic.
Christian gets to spend time behind the kit with Creedence Clearwater Revival drummer, Doug “Cosmo” Clifford. They go through his life in music, first with the giants CCR, which between 1966-1973 were one of the most massively successful rock acts to ever hit the charts. Then they talk about the dissolution, the days in Tahoe as environmental activist, losing Tom Fogerty to AIDS, the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame debacle, reforming with CCR bassist Stu Cook that toured as Creedence Clearwater Revisited until retiring last year and most importantly, his new album Magic Window, that was mostly recorded in 1985, but now out for release!Doug Clifford achieved fame as the drummer of Creedence Clearwater Revival, a band he put together with his friends Stu Cook, John Fogerty and Tom Fogerty. They were in junior high school when they started playing and achieved worldwide success after signing with Fantasy Records in 1967. Although best known as a drummer, Clifford sang harmony vocals and contributed songs to the Creedence catalogue. He's been singing, writing songs and making music for as long as he can remember. After a lifetime on the road – ten years with Creedence Clearwater Revival and its predecessors and 25 years with Creedence Clearwater Revisited – the band he put together with bassist Stu Cook to perform live tunes from the Creedence catalogue – he's ready to again make his mark as a singer and songwriter. He'll be releasing Magic Window, a solo album recorded in 1985 and updated in 2020 on April 24, 2020, on CD Baby and all on streaming platforms.Clifford wrote the Magic Window songs at his piano at his Lake Tahoe, Nevada home. During downtime, he'd gaze out at the lake and mountains and write, sometimes alone, and sometimes with collaborators. “I had an analog studio with a good tape deck, so I could try out ideas without looking at the clock. I'd invite friends in to jam and experiment. I made Magic Window with Russell DaShiell on lead guitar. Russell's also an engineer and co-produced the sessions with me. I was going to use it to look for a record deal, but I got busy with other projects and touring. I just forgot about it.” Some of those projects included producing albums for Doug Sahm of the Sir Douglas Quintet and Texas Tornados, playing in Steve Miller's band and then joining Stu Cook to play Creedence hits with Creedence Clearwater Revisited. They have performed worldwide for 25 years, amassing many fans and crossing multiple generations to bring the wonderful CCR hits to people. They released an RIAA certified platinum live album. Last year, while cleaning out his garage, Clifford found the Magic Window masters.“I'd forgotten about the tapes, but they were in great shape. We were able to transfer the recordings to digital and warm things up a bit. I discovered more than 100 songs.” “Music's always been a medicine and a meditation for me. It doesn't matter if I'm down or up. It works both ways. We've seen some trying times in the last few years, and we can all use some love and magic. I put my heart and soul into the positive messages on this album. This is a good time to share them with the world.” https://dougcosmoclifford.com/https://concord.com/concord-albums/doug-cosmo-clifford/https://open.spotify.com/album/7KOK93bVycTNCpQW4GOrNd

Christian gets to spend time behind the kit with Creedence Clearwater Revival drummer, Doug “Cosmo” Clifford. They go through his life in music, first with the giants CCR, which between 1966-1973 were one of the most massively successful rock acts to ever hit the charts. Then they talk about the dissolution, the days in Tahoe as environmental activist, losing Tom Fogerty to AIDS, the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame debacle, reforming with CCR bassist Stu Cook that toured as Creedence Clearwater Revisited until retiring last year and most importantly, his new album Magic Window, that was mostly recorded in 1985, but now out for release! Doug Clifford achieved fame as the drummer of Creedence Clearwater Revival, a band he put together with his friends Stu Cook, John Fogerty and Tom Fogerty. They were in junior high school when they started playing and achieved worldwide success after signing with Fantasy Records in 1967. Although best known as a drummer, Clifford sang harmony vocals and contributed songs to the Creedence catalogue. He’s been singing, writing songs and making music for as long as he can remember. After a lifetime on the road – ten years with Creedence Clearwater Revival and its predecessors and 25 years with Creedence Clearwater Revisited – the band he put together with bassist Stu Cook to perform live tunes from the Creedence catalogue – he’s ready to again make his mark as a singer and songwriter. He’ll be releasing Magic Window, a solo album recorded in 1985 and updated in 2020 on April 24, 2020, on CD Baby and all on streaming platforms. Clifford wrote the Magic Window songs at his piano at his Lake Tahoe, Nevada home. During downtime, he’d gaze out at the lake and mountains and write, sometimes alone, and sometimes with collaborators. “I had an analog studio with a good tape deck, so I could try out ideas without looking at the clock. I’d invite friends in to jam and experiment. I made Magic Window with Russell DaShiell on lead guitar. Russell’s also an engineer and co-produced the sessions with me. I was going to use it to look for a record deal, but I got busy with other projects and touring. I just forgot about it.” Some of those projects included producing albums for Doug Sahm of the Sir Douglas Quintet and Texas Tornados, playing in Steve Miller’s band and then joining Stu Cook to play Creedence hits with Creedence Clearwater Revisited. They have performed worldwide for 25 years, amassing many fans and crossing multiple generations to bring the wonderful CCR hits to people. They released an RIAA certified platinum live album. He's a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, started out on the trumpet, got ran out of a bar in Lodi and loves to drink a San Remo, Time to go Beyond the Mic with Stu Cook from CCR. I've had great interview opportunities over my 25+ year radio history that never made it to air. Some were due to length others were because of topic. I decided to flip the table on the rules. Any topic / guest is welcome, but you need to tell a story & must go “Beyond the Mic.”
Creedence Clearwater Revisited/Revival bassist Stu Cook calls up Kyle Meredith to talk about the band's second life and why it's time to put it to rest. We also hear about their association with The Big Lebowski and Stephen King, the 50th anniversary of Woodstock '69, and the pair of Roky Erickson records that Cook produced in the '80s. There are people on this planet that you'd never imagine getting a chance to talk to. On this week's episode, we sit down with one of those people. Today, we are joined by bassist Stu Cook of the legendary band, Creedence Clearwater Revival. Stu has over 50 years of playing experience to share. We discuss everything from the early days of Creedence, to performing at Woodstock, to now performing on the final tour with Creedence Clearwater Revisited. Stu was laid back, humble, and extremely honest. Today's episode is truly a great moment for the show. We also talk about Scott's unique experience performing at a Freemason's lodge, a deep discussion on mortality, and Burlew gives Scott a quiz about which celebrity animals he would like to keep. In 1969 alone, Creedence Clearwater Revival released three of the greatest rock albums in history. The third, and arguably the best, was Willy and the Poor Boys. Landmark hits like "Down on the Corner" and " Fortunate Son" have cemented its place on pretty much every list of the best albums ever, deservedly so. This month we bring back one of our favorite guests ever, CCR bassist and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Stu Cook (ep100) to discuss the making of the album, his favorite moments, and the dynamic in the band at the time with songwriter John Fogerty. And don't forget to catch Creedence Clearwater Revisited on tour this summer !http://creedence-revisited.com

Doug Clifford is a founding member a drummer of the band that Bruce Springsteen credits as saving his ass on many occasions when he was starting out playing bars in New Jersey. He made that comment while induction his band into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame . Rolling Stone ranked them as one of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time list. John „Bulldog” Tristao
This week we celebrate the big 100 with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Stu Cook, bassist for the legendary Creedence Clearwater Revival! Everyone knows and loves the music of CCR, but sadly the band has been fraught with tension almost from the beginning. In this intensely candid conversation, Stu lays out the reasons for much of the dysfunction. It basically comes down to lead-singer and main songwriter John Fogerty on one side and Stu and drummer Doug Clifford on the other. Thankfully, Stu and Doug have been able to soldier on for over 20 years now as Creedence Clearwater Revisited playing the songs they helped to make famous. Stu also discusses CCR's Woodstock experience, the drama behind that awkward Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and the reasons for the many legal battles that have erupted over the years. We are supremely honored to have Stu celebrate the 100 milestone with us! And there's also a giveaway, so listen til the end. http://creedence-revisited.com/

Follow me at: GuyL180 Video Version & Full Transcript: http://180nutrition.com.au/nutrition/diane-sanfilippo-practical-paleo/ Questions we ask in this episode: What does paleo mean to you? Have your views regarding paleo changed at all since your book ‘Practical Paleo’ came out in 2012? Why do so many people struggle to make long-lasting change when it comes to health and good eating habits? How do we create healthy eating habits when our families are not onboard with the changes or have heard negative press regarding the paleo diet? You’re a busy entrepreneur, how do you handle stress? Hey. This is Guy Lawrence of 180 Nutrition. Of course, welcome to this week’s episode of the health sessions where we cut through the confusion by connecting with leading global health and wellness experts to share the best and the latest science and thinking, empowering people to turn their health and lives around. This week, we are doing it with Diana Sanfilippo, who is the best-selling author of this book that I actually happen to have with me, Practical Paleo. Now, this has been dubbed the Paleo Bible by readers everywhere. It came out, I think in 2012 and spent many many weeks on the New York Times’ Bestseller’s list. I think she has sold over 500,000 copies, which is pretty impressive. [00:01:00] If you’re not familiar with Diane, she is owner, founder of Balanced Bites. She is also a certified nutrition consultant and of course the New York Times’ Bestselling Author. She got an impressive resume. It was awesome to have her on the show today. We literally dive into the topics of what does it mean to leave a practical paleo life, how she implements it in her lifestyle and what she has learned since the book has first come out. We get into, she is now releasing a revised edition of the book very soon by the time you’re hearing this podcast. Also, why revise a book as opposed to writing a new one as well. I guess the four years in between, if any reveres a change. We’re getting into all sorts of topics including stress management, her exercise routines and all sorts. It was great. It was awesome to have her on the show. She is definitely a wealth of information and certainly making people think about the way they eat, which is what we are all for. Now, if you are listening to this on iTunes, if you could leave us a review, that would be fantastic. It just helps to spread the word. We want to get people listening to this for free, the reviews help us internationally as well. [00:02:00] By subscribing in it as well, put five stars, so if you are enjoying these podcasts and consuming on a regular basis, a, it would be great to hear from you. Let us know. Also of course, help others find this podcast too. Yeah, we just love getting it out there. Anyway, let’s go over to the show and over to Diane. Enjoy. Guy Hi, this is Guy Lawrence. I’m joined with Stu Cook as always. Hi Stu. Stu Hello mate. Guy Our lovely guest today is Diane Sanfilippo. Diane, welcome to the show. Diane Thanks for having me. Guy [00:03:00] I hope I got the surname correct. Now, before I get into the questions and start hitting you, I have to say, I’ve got your book here. My fiancee absolutely pulls this apart and loves it. I know she is very excited to know that you’re being interviewed today. That’s awesome, mate. It’s incredibly. Now, before we get into the book and everything else that you do, the first question I like to ask everyone on the show is if you were, say, at a bus stop and you were stopped by a complete stranger on the street and asked you what you did for a living, what would you say? Diane I always struggle with that question because I often don’t know how to describe what I do. Typically, these days, I say I’m an author. I write health and nutrition cookbooks, some thing to that effect. It often depends on who is asking and what they might understand. If they’re someone much older who wouldn’t really get the whole online Internet-based business, programs and all of that. Typically, I do say I’m an author and I write nutrition-based cookbooks because that’s the bulk of it at this point, I suppose.
