Curiosity Builds Trust By asking open-ended questions with genuine curiosity, you gain valuable insights and strengthen relationships. Kwame's approach emphasized the importance of tone and empathy to keep conversations on track and uncover win-win opportunities. 5. Practice Makes Perfect Role-playing challenging scenarios, as Erin and Kwame did, is a practical way to build confidence and refine your negotiation skills. Kwame's advice? When Christine Jewell left behind a successful fitness business to listen to God's calling, she had no idea it would turn into a published book, a fulfilling relationship, and not one but two new businesses. Christine is a faith-based executive coach, author, and speaker helping high-achievers move beyond the superficial life into a whole new playing field where unshakable relationships, freedom, and fulfillment in every area of life are the norm, not the exception. Christine bridges the gap between the spiritual and practical, making KINGDOM principles tactical and relevant to everyday leadership. Through her signature process, she empowers clients to boldly step into their Next Season of leadership and calling. Following the Call After years of meticulously trying to control her life, Christine reached a breaking point where her business, relationships, and health were pushed to the brink. She couldn't carry the weight of everything anymore. Over the next 18 months, she went on a journey to learn how to listen to God and find direction for the next season of her life. Through journaling, Christine discovered her new mission was to publish a book. Although she didn't consider herself a writer, she heeded the call and decided to turn her journals into a memoir. What she didn't realize at the time was that all of her spiritual work paved the way for a new business. Combining Forces Christine's coaching work has always centered on corporate leaders, CEOs, and founders–but rather than talk business, she helps them with their relationships and personal development. Meanwhile, her partner worked on the corporate side in executive coaching and events. They referred clients back and forth before finally deciding to join forces and start a new company: Gravitas Nation. As the business grows, Christine isn't just a coach herself anymore but is now responsible for the coaches working under her in their certification program. To prevent another episode of burnout, she follows the Jesus model: she serves her community but then retreats to be alone and reconnect with God. It's an important lesson for any coach or leader to learn: you're not responsible for carrying the weight of other people's emotions. Enjoy this episode with founder Christine Jewell… Quotes “I really believe if we heed the call and we don't fight it, we'll naturally move into the next place I believe God has for us. And you'll know because you get pulled into it.” “People follow people.” “A lot of people are screaming about contraction, recession, and God is really multiplying us and I believe we're in a season where God is calling certain people when the rest of the world is contracting, so people can go, ‘What are you doing?'” “Once we decide and say yes, I'll do it, and we put it out there, the how always shows up.” “The marketplace is the new church.” “Our work is our worship.” “I think the Bible is the greatest business success book ever written.” Links mentioned in this episode: Visit Christine's website: http://www.thechristinejewell.com Connect with Christine on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/christine-jewell-9361612a/ Drop The Armor Book: https://www.thechristinejewell.com/drop-the-armor Breaking Chains Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/breaking-chains/id1579338652

Brands aren't just for consumer products anymore. Your reputation precedes you wherever you go and in business, the first thing people do when they get your name is look you up on LinkedIn. What does it say? Do you have a clear point of view? Do you stand for anything? Does it demonstrate what you are passionate about? If you are one of the hundreds of leaders I have coached, you likely have treated LinkedIn as an online resume and not much more than that. LinkedIn has changed- and so have its users. 8 people are hired every minute on LinkedIn and there are more than 850 Million members. Only 3% of those members are active. So the great news is you have an opportunity to shine. Taking time to curate your brand is the difference between being just a person with a job, to a human in a category of one who is remembered. Your brand is much more than your job title. Your brand is the extension of yourself that you are sharing with the world. It is the way you want to be thought of, the reason people want to know more and should be simple and easy to understand. And while I speak mostly about LinkedIn, your brand can proliferate across all of your socials but also in your conversations, interviews, podcasts and wherever else you want to take it. There is no such thing as job security anymore- only career security. You want to be viewed as an authority on your specific area of expertise. LinkedIn is the perfect place to help you establish that and there are easy fixes you can implement to help others understand who you are, clearly and quickly. But your brand extends beyond LinkedIn. This is where your power statement, elevator pitch, brag book and pros and cons lists come into play. These are tools that help you communicate the vision of yourself you want others to see. Don't wait until you are laid off to build your brand. But if you were one of the thousands who were laid off in 2023, we are here to help. In this episode we will give you some actionable tips that you can leverage to build your brand now. Putting the right foot forward is the difference between making you go from interesting to irresistible.

Welcome to Episode 26, Season 7, of the Leadership Lyceum: A CEO's Virtual Mentor®. This episode coupled with the prior Episode 25 on Overcoming Homophily forms two episodes themed to span both Black History Month and Women's History Month. I'm joined in this program by four of five women who on May 1st, 2019, published together a collective autobiographical book titled The Energy Within Us. It is their stories across the arc of their lives from childhood environments and experiences that shaped them to, and through, their long careers in executive leadership roles in the energy industry. These women have a great deal in common. They're all dear friends. They're all accomplished executive leaders in the energy industry and their careers. They're all giving back by serving broader leadership roles in corporate and non-for-profit boardrooms and social service organizations. They all have unbounded generosity of spirit. And they all, as you will hear, exude the energy within themselves. The discursive style of our interview revealed a wealth of advice for current and future business leaders especially in the realm of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Topics covered include – role models, mentors and coaches, courage to challenge the status quo and hold leaders accountable, assumptions and misunderstandings, barriers to developing instrumental networks and receiving developmental feedback. s your organization evolving with the needs of its culture, or are you stuck in a mindset that no longer serves your business or its employees? Our guest today is Eboni Adams Monk, the Vice President of Marketing and Commercial Excellence at Trinseo, a specialty material solutions provider that partners with companies to bring ideas to life in an imaginative, smart and sustainable manner. She is also the author of Leading Wise: Inspirational Reflections for Corporate Leaders, which offers inspirational prompts and a global perspective for corporate leadership. In our conversation with Eboni, we learn what an evolved corporate community looks like and what it does. She explains that by thinking about the impact a business has on the people and cultures in our community, we can support and enhance those around us - while assisting our company in meeting financial and operational goals. In addition, Eboni shares how she dances at the intersection of leadership, business, culture, and spirituality, encouraging business leaders to develop themselves in ways that encourage thinking and feeling deeply for the people in their employment, and in their community. This creates a stronger relationship with employees and co-workers, and that brings more out of them - and makes critical or difficult conversations easier to have. Three Key Takeaways: * Corporate culture should support the people and communities it impacts the most. * When creating content, think about how you can spark interest and curiosity in your audience. * Leaders should take time for reflection and meditation, in order to absorb the world around them and inspire transformation.
Corporations donate billions of dollars to nonprofits each year to effect change and increase sales and positive brand sentiment. When companies donate, is a larger donation, and thus more money, better? Not necessarily.Harvard Business School's Elizabeth Keenan, Leslie John and Anne Wilson conducted a series of studies in 2020 and 2021 on this very issue. Their findings offer new insights for companies trying to win the hearts of socially conscious consumers and for nonprofits that build campaigns with their corporate partners. In today's episode, EFG's Alli Murphy is joined by Elizabeth Keenan, Assistant Professor of Business Administration in the Marketing Unit at HBS, to talk about the research, their findings and her advice for corporate and nonprofit leaders.Elizabeth has both academic and nonprofit experience. Before her doctoral studies and time at Harvard, she spent ten years in nonprofit management at the Aquarium of the Pacific. In today's episode, we'll explore:The series of 5 studies and why the results matter for CSR & social impact professionalsWhy consumers care more about how companies donate than how muchHow consumers determine a company's generosityHow companies that donate a high absolute amount but a low percentage of profits can still be seen as generousElizabeth's advice for nonprofit and corporate leadersWhat Elizabeth found surprising about their findingsLinks & NotesElizabeth Keenan Faculty PageGiving Back: Consumers Care More About How Companies Donate Than How MuchElevate Your Social ImpactSign up for Engage for Good's newsletterCheck out past podcast episodesAccess free resourcesCheck out our monthly webinarsLet Alli know what you think of the show! Welcome to Coaching and a Cup of Tea with Mummabear. I am very excited today because I get to introduce you to one of my favorite people, Heidi Foster. And you're going to get to hear from her and all of the good stuff that she learned from Empowered Life. One of the reasons why I wanted to have Heidi on is not only because she's amazing and you guys are going to love her and her energy, but also because she is a woman in corporate America. And the reality is that there are a lot of differences in terms of what's required of us living in the corporate world versus being an entrepreneur and being someone who maybe runs their business from online. And so I just thought it would be really helpful for you to hear. If you are a Heidi, why would you join Empowered Life, why would you get a life coach? And there's no one better to talk about it than Haiti Foster. Would you like to introduce yourself?Heidi Foster:I would. Hello. I'm so excited to be here with you. I listen to your podcasts all the time and I'm so excited that I'm actually in one.Melissa:Woo hoo. So excited.Heidi Foster:I know, I know.Melissa:I love it.Heidi Foster:So much fun. So much fun. So first and foremost, I think coaching is really for anyone, but specifically I think for what I do for a living, which is corporate sales, I work for a Fortune 100 company and I have for over 20 years. And I think when you're in sales, especially working for a large organization, maybe the coaching you have would be based on productivity, or efficiencies, or selling, but not maybe so much wellbeing. I feel like corporations are starting to take a look at that. But for me, I just really needed some coaching that would help with the overall picture. Especially in the last few years, a lot has changed in corporate America. We've started working from home, our routine drastically changed, but we're still responsible for quotas and maintaining our business. And I think that it was a little bit of a formula for maybe a serious mental and emotional strain, to say the least.Find the FULL transcript here: Season 5 Episode 5: Do Corporate Leaders Need a Life Coach?
