Uh, I'm, I'm just obsessed with this technique and it's, it's really, it's a cooking technique, right? So we're going to jump into the cooking arena here. And, uh, I'm a big cast iron guy, right? And I would imagine this technique probably wor would work. Other things as well, you might not wanna do it with, uh, you know, something that might be non-stick. I don't personally use any non-stick pans, which is a whole other conversation in itself. But I, so again, getting back to non-stick pans, and if you've ever cooked eggs in non-stick pans, Or I'm sorry. If you've ever cooked eggs in a cast iron skillet, you know that it's probably a pain in the ass. Most of the time. You gotta sit there with them, the chain mail scrubber thing and get all the remnants of breakfast off of that, that pan, right? So this technique basically makes it so that the pan is quite literally non-stick, obviously, without any of the non-stick stuff in there. Uh, and it's incredibly easy to do. And I obviously, I've been cooking for, I do. 25 years and never knew anything about this before. So I'm so glad that, that I came across it. You can literally kiss the stuck-on scrambled eggs onto the cast iron pan goodbye. You can literally just take a, a, uh, a paper towel and wipe it out at the end. So really the technique, again, really, really simple. All you have to do is. You, start heating the pan. And I used, uh, I knew I use, uh, avocado oil, right? So avocado oil has a higher, uh, heat temperature. So, um, you have to get the pan pretty, pretty warm. So the avocado oil will just start to smoke, right? , and you can test this. You can test to see if the pan is hot enough yet by, you know, just kind of dipping your hand in a, a cup of water and you kind of flick that water onto the pan if the water evaporates, you know, like immediately, like right away. As soon as it hits the pan, it's not hot enough yet. What you want it to do is you, It kind of, the best way that I can describe it is kind of looks like Mercury, so the water is just, Hovering on the pan's surface, uh, then the pan is hot enough, you then take a little bit more, um, uh, avocado oil and, and put it in the middle and, you know, pick the pan up and kind of swirl the, the avocado oil around so that it coats the bottom of the pan. And then just go ahead and cook whatever it is that you're cooking in there and you get completely non-stick. , I know that's gonna be helpful. You gotta. I'm amazed by it. I use it every single time I cook

This is a conversation with Travis Steffen, CEO of GrowFlow. GrowFlow is an all-in-one business management and compliance solution for cannabis wholesalers and retailers.
GrowFlow with CEO, Travis Steffen today on Blunt Business only on Cannabis Radio. Our next guest is the bestselling author of Viral Hero: How To Build Viral Products, Turn Customers Into Marketers, And Achieve Superhuman Growth. He is a serial entrepreneur with 7 successful exits (and a few crash-and-burn failures) to his name. He now serves as CEO of GrowFlow, a cloud-based software suite for cannabis businesses. We start by talking about GrowFlow. Travis told Warren Bobrow at Forbes: “Many companies - both in and outside of our sector - outsource support to other countries, or to third party teams that do things really cheaply and follow a script. We’ve done things differently by almost exclusively hiring former industry operators in these roles. They know the lingo, the pain points the customers have, and how our products can solve them. It was a significant investment to hire domestically-located specialists for these roles, but it’s paid off in a big way. Beyond that, we try not to pay too much attention to what the competition is doing because we have no visibility into how they make decisions or how those decisions are working for them.” Travis recently launched "GrowFlow Live Marketplace" to Seamlessly Connect Cannabis Buyers and Sellers Through Compliant Transactions. This will enable wholesalers to grow businesses and revenue and retailers to streamline the buying process and discover new products.
In this episode, your host, Gabby Scott speaks with the CEO of GrowFlow, Travis Steffen about leadership, navigating regulated industries, being customer-centric, and more.

Speeches, montages, underdogs, cheesy bad guys, Kevin Costners, sports movies that aren't sports movies, this episode has it all. In this episode Travis Steffen is taken through a gauntlet, sharing his opinions on TEN SPORTS MOVIE CATEGORIES along with a lightning round of ridiculous questions (which if you have heard Travis on the show before you can expect the slowest lightning round ever). Though we neglect to mention a few movies (how in the world did we forget Slapshot!!!) Travis and Brandon lead us through a discussion of a bunch of the movies we love. Hope you guys have a wonderful Thanksgiving and that this episode brings you as much joy as it brought me!! Target Market Insights: Multifamily Real Estate Marketing Tips
Viral marketing is the holy grail for most entrepreneurs and marketers. Most people think of a meme or a video that gets millions of views, but that’s not the right way to think about viral marketing. The hidden truth about viral marketing is it has to deliver core value in order to spread amongst the masses. According to Travis Steffen, viral marketing is the act of leveraging your own audience to pass your message on to others. Travis is a serial entrepreneur, growth lead, and author of the book Viral Hero. He has helped create hundreds of millions of dollars in value for various Silicon Valley startups. The reason most messages do not achieve this viral success is that most entrepreneurs and marketers start with an idea without verifying the details and purpose with intended users. When strategic flaws emerge, entrepreneurs are forced to pivot their business. A better approach is to engineer products in a way that turns customers into enthusiastic hosts that spread your message to anyone they come in touch with - just like a virus. And this virality can’t be circumvented with handwashing, masks, bleach, or experimental drugs. In this episode, Travis shared key insights on building a business from ideation to launch and beyond, the right way to conduct market research with customers, lessons learned from a failed business venture, and the right way to build viral products and messages. We finally did it. We went out and ran the Booneville Backroads Ultra. I-O-W-A! IOWA! IOWA! It was a LOOOOOOOOONG time coming (months and months and numerous podcasts later), but we did the thing! Today Thad Burkamper joins me on the show to tell the tale of his first attempt at a 50k while I explain the story of my very first 100K (62 Miles). As in any good Ultra, there were super high highs and devastatingly low lows. The race itself though was AWESOME- the Iowa countryside is gorgeous, the course was diverse and kept you on your toes, the volunteers and other racers were wonderful, Brad Dains was an outstanding race director and it just felt good to be competing again! But that heat......oh.....the heat. That was rough. That was when the race really kicked you in the face, brought you to your knees (quite literally in some cases) forcing you to dig deep into the ole grit basket deep inside our souls. Huge thanks to everyone who helped me out at Booneville - The race volunteers, anyone and everyone who raced Booneville and battled that ridiculous heat, Jen Tischler for sharing a bunch of miles down those never-ending gravel roads, race director extraordinaire Brad Dains, "Calspirations" Calvin Johannsen, the legendary Carol Ward- my lovely mother, the lady who let us camp in her front yard, Thad's Jurassic Park Jeep, my wife Lindsey Ward for spending two days watching our three bonkers daughters, Sean Furlong, Travis Steffen, and Matt Rackers for making the months of training super fun (missed you guys!) and the "Muscatine Backroads Ultra 50k" Champion Brady Manriquez for hosting the show!! I sincerely hope you enjoy today's episode, get some good laughs at our expense, and maybe even learn a thing or two (if Thad and I shared anything resembling wisdom). Thanks for listening!! Travis Steffen, bestselling author of Viral Hero, is a serial entrepreneur with 7 successful exits (and some crash-and-burn failures) to his name. Travis is the CEO of GrowFlow, a cloud-based software suite for cannabis businesses. With customers ranging from growers to retailers, GrowFlow is the market-leading cannabis software solution in several states. Travis is a life-long athlete with a Masters in Exercise Physiology from the University of Northern Iowa. Outside of his professional life, he is an NPC physique athlete and an ultra marathoner. He enjoys poker, space, fantasy football, film, and a good rack of ribs. In this episode… As more people embrace the legalization of cannabis, the sector continues to expand with growers, processors, and retailers joining the industry. This growth means that new people have to be hired, which can be a challenge for startup companies and new employees. For Travis Steffen, the transition from finance and fitness to the cannabis industry was exciting because the field is not as highly regulated as other industries. He had to adapt fast. Attracting quality talent for his company has had its unique challenges, forcing him to think outside the box to ensure growth and diversity in the workforce. In this week's episode of Elevate Hire, host Greg Toroosian interviews Travis Steffen, CEO of GrowFlow, about building teams in the cannabis industry. They discuss recent changes in the industry, the strategies GrowFlow uses to attract and maintain quality talent, and Travis' advice on improving employee performance. Stay tuned.

Travis is no stranger to running a business while under the scrutinizing eye of others. Having come from a business in gambling, he hopped over to the world of legalized cannabis by becoming the CEO of GrowFlow, a software suite designed specifically to help cannabis operators run their business smoothly.

As CEO, he leads the vision and strategy of this fast-growing team of 60. Although he's been building, scaling, and successfully exiting businesses for the past 12 years, he started his career in 2008 as a professional online poker in 2008. Using some of the same skills that made him successful at the poker table have translated well for him in his entrepreneurial journey. He is also the author of Viral Hero, where he not only dispels the myths of viral marketing but also provides you with a proven playbook for creating explosive growth through marketing. Now, let's hack... Travis Steffen.
Way back in November I successfully convinced (tricked) five of my closest friends to sign up for their first ultramarathon. Matt Rackers, Sean Furlong, Brady Manriquez and Thad Burkamper were going to take on the 50k at the Booneville Backroads Ultra while Travis Steffen and I were gonna slog our way through 100k. We had a few awesome months of building up training, holding everyone accountable through an oftentimes hilarious and inspiring group chat. I even designed weekly challenges and kept a running scoreboard which was ultimately going to lead up to a grand prize and, of course, all of us triumphantly finishing a brutal run down backcountry roads in Central Iowa. That was the plan....and you know what they say about plans.... COVID hit. The race got rescheduled. The wind got knocked out of our sails. All of a sudden a silly ultramarathon seemed pretty inconsequential and the training we were all slowly building up dropped off significantly. Flash forward to end of April and we all decided we needed to honor the date and, although we may not do the exact distance, we should all push ourselves physically to do something hard. That was the parameters, something hard and 'endurancey'. So some of us laced up the running shoes, strapped on the heavy rucksack, or fired up the ole Peloton trainer and set off to kick some butt! (Thad even completed 15 miles a week after dislocating his elbow when a climbing rope hanging from a tree in his yard just became....a rope, sending him plummeting to the ground below) Super proud of all these guys for stepping up to a variety of difficult endurance challenges! Though it wasn't quite the ultra we were preparing for, it was still one heckuva fun weekend and I was blown away by all of their accomplishments!! Can't wait to actually physically hang out and take on some sort of race with these guys in the future! Hope you all enjoy the show!! To anyone who's been paying attention, the story of Travis Steffen is a winding and intriguing one. We go through some of the bullet points of his journey to becoming a successful entrepreneur. Travis is very candid in our conversation and lends a lot of insight into his own ups and downs along the way. Thanks for your time, Mister Steffen.

This week we are bringing back on Travis Steffen for an unparalleled six time! Over the years I have successfully pressured Travis outside of his comfort zone to take on a variety of endurance races- an adventure race through the woods of Virginia, a mountanous 50k, and a brutally long desert 50 miler. I'm proud to say I have convinced (tricked....) him into pushing his limits once again as he is planning his very first 100k this May. Two and a half years ago he battled his 50 miler undertrained/unprepared and this time we are adding 12 more miles of pure type 2 fun! In this episode, we talk about how he plans to attack the race, if he is intending to learn (or not learn) from his last ultra, and what he expects to discover about himself during the event. As always we also hit on a smorgasbord of fun topics such as: how he recovered from a devastating injury, how our football careers ended with a fizzle...or a bang if you're talking about Travis's achilles, moments in life when our paradigms shifted, and why we want more and more people to experience the adventure of an ultrarun! Hope you guys enjoy the episode. I absolutely love sharing Travis stories with you guys! He's the best! On this week's show we explore our relationship with self doubt, imposter syndrome and the power of authenticity. We also discuss Travis's current athletic goals and some of his plans for 2019. Hope you guys enjoy the show! Just a heads up- next week we will be putting out a Clipshow episode as we revisit episodes 40-80. This week we are continuing our chat with Travis Steffen about his experiences in a wide variety of athletic endeavors. In this episode we dig into his late teens/ early twenties when he was fighting MMA, a time I've never really heard him speak in depth about. Every time Travis is on the show I always learn something new and fascinating about him and this week is no different! When he was 17 he used his "Bias for Action" to pursue something that was completely outside the norm for us growing up in smaller town Iowa, MMA fighting. Luckily, one of the best training facilities at the time, Pat Miletich's gym, was 30 minutes away. So, always being one to forge his own path, he did what I have to imagine was the scariest possible thing, he stepped completely outside his comfort zone and signed up. This conversation is about the lessons and experiences he had throughout the 7 or 8 years he spent training and fighting MMA. We chat everything from training to realizing that professional fighters were just regular everyday people (who could knock you out in two seconds...but still) to reflecting on specific fights he had (aka the time I saw him get punched in the face a bunch) to the time he was mugged and stabbed. Hope you guys enjoy! Chatting with Travis is truly one of my absolute favorite pastimes. I just love the guy! We'll get back at you next week! P.S.- As we are quickly approaching our 100th episode of the Like a Bigfoot Podcast, I'd love to reach out to you to see if you have any ideas about how we could celebrate such an awesome milestone! If you have any suggestions email them to likeabigfoot@gmail.com. Thanks so much for listening, I am so very grateful!

Today the always fascinating Travis Steffen is back to the podcast. If you haven't listened to the previous episodes, Travis is one of my absolute best friends in the whole world. He's also one of the wisest, strangest, most successful and genuine people I know. I never know what to expect when we do a podcast. This week as I sat at my kitchen table, watching him put his hair up in a 'Manbun' I thought... "What direction is he gonna take this one?" The conversation is extremely introspective, at times both heartbreaking and hilarious, and inspirational. There's always lessons to be taken away from listening to Travis. Today is all about mindset, self reflection and failing in order to succeed. Travis shares the importance of being completely transparent and genuine, why we need to take time to self reflect, how a strength in one area of life could be a weakness in another, and how epic failures have helped him let go of fear and driven him towards success. Please go back and check out Travis's previous episodes if you have missed them! He will always make you think while inspiring and entertaining you. Travis’s mindset as he gets into his businesses: What is he trying to accomplish? Does he keep the end in mind? Travis discusses how he used opportunities as stepping stones. One particular example of the sale of a company that Travis wishes he’d handled differently, including what he’d do now that would significantly increase the value of the business when it came time to sell. Travis’s thoughts on how people can switch industries based on his experience. How people can free themselves from what they’ve built: Travis recommends steps to follow. This week Brady Manriquez and Travis Steffen discuss their experiences in the Monument Valley Ultras. Brady finished off his very first half marathon, 13.1 beautiful miles running through the desert. A culmination of a year long discovery of running. He recaps his strategy to deal with the pre-race jitters, how he handled running in the sand, and the importance of embracing happiness and rolling with the punches. The race ended with a bunch of letters from friends and family and a finish with a great time! Travis's story is probably one of the most unique race reports of ALL TIME! The dude terminatored his way through a 50 mile race on pretty much ZERO training because he wanted to experience pain and misery in an attempt to see how much he can withstand physically, mentally and emotionally. The last few hours, he dug deep as he trekked through rain, wind, and darkness in only a soaking wet t-shirt and some running shorts. We dig deep into Travis's mindset during the race. How can we grow by purposely seeking out hardships? What do you learn about yourself when you are stripped of all common comforts and put through the ringer? Why do we crave pushing the limits? Whereas a lot of trail runners treat the experience as a social one, Travis really craved an individual quest, observing his inner emotional struggles while the miles went by. It's a crazy story! Also.....before recording this episode I would have been 100% sure that no one in history had used a mantra that is also a title of a Nic Cage film to finish an endurance event.... Congrats to both these guys! Glad I got to experience an amazing event with my family and two of my favorite people in the world! If you want to have an awesome adventure in the beautiful southwest, I highly suggest checking out the race series put on by Ultra Adventures. Zion, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, and a bunch more. I will for sure be participating in more in the future. This week we are joined once again with Travis Steffen (episode 10) . Travis is a successful entrepreneur and athlete working in the heart of the insanity that is Silicon Valley. Through the last ten years he's created multiple businesses from scratch, played college football, pursued MMA, fought in Thailand, completed triathlons and ultramarathons, climbed mountains, competed in body building competitions and so on and so on. How was he able to step up and confront all of these challenges? Travis attributes his success to regimented discipline, daily goal setting, and a focused mindset on success. On this episode Travis shares his intense morning routine, his affinity with lists, what drives him to set lofty goals, how he visualizes a "life trophy case", his hilarious experience running his first marathon, and how he plans on finishing his first 50 miler. We also reopen the "City Slickers 1 v. City Slickers 2" trial....in which I present some very damning evidence. As are most of my conversations with Travis, this one is all at once enlightening, silly, inspiring, highbrow, lowbrow, and brings a smile to face! Enjoy! Check out our previous episode here: https://soundcloud.com/chris-ward-126531464/like-a-bigfoot-10-travis-steffen
Last April Travis Steffen ran his first ultra marathon, the Grayson Highlands 50k. He showed up almost completely unprepared and untrained, he was at the peak of the "weight gaining" phase of a body building cycle which put him about 25 pounds heavier than normal, and he was coming off a couple of rough emotional weeks. But he finished. All 31 miles of mountain pain. Through the rain and mud, past the giant longhorn bulls, up and down steep hills, showing extreme mental toughness as he marched his way to the finish line. Throughout the day, as he limped around, painfully grunting with each tiny movement, you could not wipe the smile off of his face. Why? How did this experience completely change his outlook on himself, his past behaviors, and his previous mentality? That's what we get into in this episode. And it gets raw. Travis had no problems opening up and sharing the major flaws in his previous mindset (in both his athletic career and in other areas of life) that he has discovered after reading the book "Extreme Ownership" by former Navy SEAL Jocko Willink. The message is really important "You are responsible for where you are today. No excuses, no pity party. You know what you need to do to be better...so do it. Change the way you perceive obstacles. They are not 'bad' or 'good', they are just there. They are the stepping stones to improvement." WARNING: One thing I love and respect about Travis (among many) is that he is 100% authentic and unashamed to be who he is and talk the way he talks. That being said, there is a fair amount of cursing in this episode...so be aware if you have innocent ears or kids roaming around. Travis might teach you some new vocabulary.
