Like there is no time in the world that you cannot message us. [00:00:08] Jason: All right. We are Jason and Sarah Hull, the owners of DoorGrow, the world's leading and most comprehensive coaching and consulting firm for long-term residential property management entrepreneurs. For over a decade and a half, we have brought innovative strategies and optimization to the property management industry. At DoorGrow, we have spoken to thousands of property management business owners, coached, consulted and cleaned up hundreds of businesses, helping them add doors, improved pricing, increase profit, simplify operations, and build and replace teams. We are like Bar Rescue for property managers. In fact, we have cleaned up and rebranded over 300 businesses and we run the leading property management mastermind for the industry with more video testimonials and reviews than any other coach or consultant in the industry.  [00:00:59] Jason: At DoorGrow, we believe that good property managers can change the world, and that property management is the ultimate high trust gateway to real estate deals, relationships, and residual income.  [00:01:09] Jason: At DoorGrow, we are on a mission to transform property management, business owners and their businesses. [00:01:13] Jason: We want to transform the industry, eliminate the bs, build awareness, change perception, expand the market, and help the best property management entrepreneurs win. Now let's get into the show.  [00:01:24] Jason: Alright, so today, what are we talking about, Sarah?  [00:01:28] Jason: We're talking about what's new.  [00:01:30] Jason: So we've helped a lot of clients in the past, and if we've helped you three, five, maybe 10 years ago, there's been a lot that's changed at DoorGrow because we innovate and make changes pretty quickly, right? [00:01:44] Jason: And we've got systems for innovation in our business. And so, I think this is why we have the most comprehensive program in the industry and why nobody else can keep up with our pace and our level of creating and innovating and adding new stuff. And so a lot of you maybe have listened to this podcast a bit, maybe a while, maybe you're past clients. Maybe you've never worked with DoorGrow, but I'm going to talk about some of the stuff we've implemented since somebody was maybe a client in our older programs, like our seed program, or maybe did some initial marketing stuff with us back in the day. And so we're going to chat a little bit about what's new since then. [00:02:24] Jason: And so if you are a past client, this will be a great episode for you to catch up on what is new at DoorGrow. And if you'd like us to go deeper, I have a 37 minute video I recorded with slides on this subject going into a little bit more detail, but we're going to skim through some of this and help you understand there's a lot of innovation. [00:02:44] Jason: So if you had some connection with DoorGrow in the past, since then, we have become the world leaders at growing and scaling property management companies. And especially in the long term residential space. We've become the world leaders of property management branding. Like I said in the intro, we've rebranded over 300 companies. [00:03:04] Jason: We have launched hundreds of websites, more than we've done rebrands. And so hundreds and hundreds of websites. And we're still the leader in building responsive mobile friendly WordPress sites for property managers, which is the world's leading content management system. And if you're past client, you might be due for a website refresh. [00:03:24] Jason: We have over 70 different designs you can choose from, and they are clean designs, they're set up so that these sites, we call them seed sites, they're optimized for conversions, they're optimized to build trust. And so if it's, if you have an old website from us, you might be due for a refresh and we can certainly help you with that. [00:03:46] Jason: And past clients, we'll give you a discounted rate. So we're really great at doing websites for those that aren't a past client. And so, reach out, we can help you with that. And we include websites for free in some of our programs. You still have to pay like the support costs monthly, but the design piece, which normally is thousands of dollars to get a site built, we cover and take care of that. [00:04:09] Jason: That's included in our mastermind program. Related to that, we've also launched the world's leading mastermind for long-term residential property managers called The DoorGrow Mastermind. So, do you want to talk about this one?  [00:04:22] Sarah: Sure. I guess. Okay. All right. So one of the things that we had launched, what, like two years ago now maybe? [00:04:29] Sarah: Yeah. Is what we call the DoorGrow code. So what we've done is we've just seen over the many years and over Jason talking with thousands of property managers. He's just amassed a whole bunch of data. And after that happens, then you start to kind of see some patterns. So. What we did is we created this whole map that lays out stage by stage and step by step. [00:04:56] Sarah: The various different ,I'm going to call them stages, of a property management business. So all the way from, "I'm brand new, I have no doors yet, not quite sure I really want to get started, but I, you know, I don't actually have any clients yet" to, "well, now I have my first client and then I'm growing up to, you know, 50, a hundred, 200, 300, 400 doors, all the way up to a thousand plus. So we've created this whole roadmap, and then if you're in the DoorGrow Mastermind, we also have created some corresponding belt levels. So we kind of like a martial arts system, we've created different color coded built levels that corresponds to both your door count and your income because both things are important. [00:05:43] Sarah: And what are the things that you need to do at each different stage in order to progress to the next level in your business? Meaning you are making more revenue, you're adding more doors, and hopefully you're stepping back a bit from the things that you're not loving in the business.  [00:06:02] Jason: Yeah, and we call that the DoorGrow code, like we've cracked the code on growth and this is based on talking to thousands of property managers. [00:06:09] Jason: We started to notice a pattern. So if you'd like a copy of the DoorGrow code and see where you're at and stuck, reach out to us. We'd be happy to send you a copy. Just shoot us a DM on any social platform. Say, Hey. Just send us the word code and we'll, we can send you information about the DoorGrow code and that'll help you get some clarity on where you're at. [00:06:28] Jason: So that's been a game changer. We used to have this old program called the Seed Program, where we would kind of clean up their business and get it ready for growth. And it used to be a six month program. Some clients would take a year to do it. We've replaced that with a 90 day Rapid Revamp program, and so our Rapid Revamp program is even faster and this is where usually I use a diagram of a hose and there's like a faucet to turn on the hose. And that faucet Or spigot, it usually says lead generation. A lot of people think, "I just need more leads. I just need to turn that on." And they ignore this hose that has six major leaks in it, and so we've identified six major leaks, and so as part of this Rapid Revamp. [00:07:09] Jason: We spend like three months with clients, usually our newer clients that come on board, we do this first. This is like sharpening the ax before we go try to chop down trees, you know, try to do the work to grow the business, and we're optimizing it for growth and we're shoring up those six major leaks. [00:07:24] Jason: And the big leaks are branding, reviews, website, pricing, trust, and sales, your pitch. So we call it positioning, perception, presence, pricing, purpose, and pitch. And if we can get those things really well dialed in, we find that companies without even changing their lead gen sources, can double the amount of deals that they're getting on right now. [00:07:43] Jason: So if you feel like it's been hard and you can't see why, these are usually six major blind spots. And this is why it's been so hard. If we can get this stuff dialed in, even without changing any of the lead sources, however you're getting business right now, you could potentially double the amount of business you're getting on just by getting these leaks shored up. [00:08:02] Jason: And do you want to talk about pricing?  [00:08:04] Sarah: Okay. Pricing is actually one of the things that we cover now in the Rapid Revamp. And what we've noticed is even companies that grow to a considerable door count, most of the times their pricing is still just not great. I think we have yet to see a business that their pricing is already optimized, so a lot of times, they're leaving money on the table, which is so awful. Because you're working so hard for your money. Yeah. And you're just not making enough of it. And there's some statistics and data from NARPM. If you ever look at the NARPM data and you look at what like the average property manager's profit margin is, it's pretty abysmal. Yeah. And this is one of the reasons why. [00:08:48] Sarah: It's not the like the only reason, but it's one of the big ones. It's one of the factors. Pricing. So what we've figured out is, hey, a lot of property managers, they just kind of go with the flow. They do what the competition in their market is doing. You know, they just kind of, sometimes they wing it and they go, I think this is good. [00:09:07] Sarah: And they put something together. And when we come in and take a look at it, we can find thousands of dollars more per year. So like Anthony O'Reilly Brookes just said a couple weeks ago on the pricing, he's like, oh, if I just do this one change, I don't even have to do all of these changes. He is like, if I just do this one change, then I can make myself an extra $26,000 a year. [00:09:28] Jason: Yeah. This is one of our clients. It was great. So yeah, so we had an old training. We were the first to roll out kind of the three tier sort of pricing model to bring this to the industry. The basic idea was based around the Goldilocks principle and how it's easier to sell if you have three different types of pricing based on three types of buyers. Pricing secrets, we've rolled out 2.0. [00:09:51] Jason: So some of our past clients, you've gone through our original pricing secrets. You've have maybe a three tier model or maybe at least three plans sort of. Some of you maybe have lease only as one of them, which we don't recommend anymore. But now we've got this three tier hybrid pricing model and I got some of the idea from Scott Brady, really brilliant property manager. [00:10:14] Jason: He was using a hybrid model for pricing out associations. I then put my own spin on it based on what I know about pricing psychology. And I believe this is the most ethical and easiest to sell model. And it allows you to be unique and sell against all your competitors and to kind of poison the well against flat fee companies or percentage based companies. [00:10:36] Jason: And so it gives you competitive advantage and it helps you close more deals more easily at higher price points. So we've got that. The next thing we've made some big advancements into sales. So some of you went through my old Sales secrets training and and this was old school sales, like it was based on NLP neurolinguistic programming. [00:10:57] Jason: It was based on different formulas of communication that some would maybe calm, manipulative, but the idea, and I would present at the beginning, like, don't be evil. You know, like, these are powerful techniques. Well, a lot of the old school sort of sales tactics of high pressure closing and a lot of training you get from most salespeople and people that are known for sales really isn't working in the last three to five years. [00:11:23] Jason: And so there's kind of this new model of selling that needs to be done. And because we're in this post trust era, like everybody's been kind of exposed and woken up a little bit that everything's kind of fake. The news is fake. The pandemic's fake. Voting's fake. Like, like nobody knows who to trust or what to trust because we realize we've just been gaslighted and lied to by everything. Especially the government and powers that are over us. And so nobody trusts anything anymore. And so there's a new model of selling that allows you to create trust that we've learned and rolled out, and we get into some cool tactics like the three dominoes to creating the ultimate pitch. [00:12:05] Jason: I have a model of four phase selling, which is a simple framework for understanding four simple phrases to take people through when having a conversation. And then our Golden Bridge formula, which is even if you learn nothing else, is the ultimate sales hack to just creating authentic trust and connection with somebody, which is the crux of sales. [00:12:25] Jason: You know? And so this is high trust selling, figuring out your personal golden bridge I've used for years in my own sales and in getting on clients, and it's why people trust me so much. And so we'll help you figure out your own. And then we get into this whole new model of selling, which has multiple phases that helps people get their own clarity. [00:12:44] Jason: And what I've realized is people don't understand their problems and what they need, and until you ask them the right questions, and so if you ask them the right questions, people will basically sell themselves. You don't have to push, be pushy In sales, this is more about being empathetic, curious, asking questions, and it feels very good to be sold to in this way, if you could even call it selling. It's really coaching. And so I'm teaching you how to do that as well in this training. And then we've also added recently offer documents, sales trackers, like some really cool stuff that we use at DoorGrow to close deals and that are helping our clients increase their close rates significantly. [00:13:23] Jason: So we made a lot of improvements to our coaching program. Maybe you could talk about some of those things.  [00:13:30] Sarah: Yeah. So there... man, I feel like since I stepped into DoorGrow, we changed everything, so. [00:13:37] Jason: We did.  [00:13:38] Sarah: Which is great because it's like there's a lot of things that we wanted to improve, and there were a lot of things that we wanted to add. So I think one of the best things for me anyway, is I really love the Jumpstart events. So if you join the DoorGrow Mastermind as a newer client, then part of your launch package is going to be an in-person deep dive into your business with Jason and myself, you spend the whole day together with a small group of property managers. [00:14:08] Sarah: We keep it small because I cannot do a deep dive with like 10 people or 20 people. So we do a very small group. Yeah, and we really get into the weeds. We get into the nitty gritty. You walk away with a very clear action plan. You know exactly what to be doing, and you just get so much clarity and connection with other property managers that are attending that event, which is really great because after the event, those people, they stick together for a while, you know? [00:14:36] Sarah: Yeah.  [00:14:36] Jason: Create some nice connections. We rolled out the jumpstart sessions because we started to notice a pattern that when clients would meet us in person or come to DoorGrow Live or conference or anything in person, they would suddenly realize psychologically we were real people. There's just something psychologically about video Zoom calls video trainings in DoorGrow Academy. [00:15:00] Jason: That's not real to our brain. And so I call it the real bubble. And we've realized if we can pop that real bubble from the beginning, clients' perception of and recognizing that we're real people, then that translates into the things that we teach are real. And the things and the results clients are getting are real. [00:15:18] Jason: And so they start to get way better results. And so we want to give people that experience from the beginning, and we've got a much better outcome from all of our clients by getting them to do these in-person things towards the beginning of them joining DoorGrow's Mastermind and they're getting way better results. [00:15:36] Jason: They recognize that this is all real stuff and so they absorb the content in all the information in a completely different way, which is really powerful, so. [00:15:45] Sarah: And I would also say in addition to that too, though, if you had worked with us prior to what, four years ago? I would say probably four is the right answer. [00:15:56] Sarah: If you worked with us anytime before that, we recognized onboarding was very hectic and it was, oh man, it's really overwhelming. Everybody was like, "oh my God, there's so much information and I don't know what to do," and then they try to take it all in and they're overwhelmed and they're focusing on the wrong things. [00:16:13] Sarah: And then they have a bunch of questions and they're trying to like, jump on the calls to get their questions answered. So we did a few things. And the best thing that we have rolled out is. We have a really solid, streamlined onboarding process now.  [00:16:29] Jason: Yeah.  [00:16:29] Sarah: So we take you through a very proven like we have a whole course on DoorGrow Academy on onboarding to make sure that you get into all of the tools. You have access to everything. You know how to use it. Because just because you have it, doesn't mean you know how to use it. Yeah. And then that you're connected with our team. Because there are still some times that people are like, "oh, I didn't even know I could talk to Madi. Oh, I didn't know I could talk to Giselle." Or like, "oh, I didn't realize I could do that." Yeah, you absolutely can. We have a whole team to support you. So we make sure that you're connected with the right tools. We make sure you're connected with the team. You get on like a couple of 15 minute coaching calls with our like onboarding specialist right at the beginning just to make sure, like we're going to walk you through everything. We're going to check everything, we're going to explain everything to you, make sure you're on telegram, make sure you're connected to our entire team. And then they get a brand new thing that we had rolled out in addition that we added to onboarding is our client workbooks. [00:17:26] Sarah: So one of the things that everybody says is, "oh my God, it's like drinking out of a fire hose." I hear this almost from every client.  [00:17:33] Jason: Yeah. That analogy comes up all the time. It's like drinking out of a fire hose. Like they say it all the time. Yeah. Yeah. They're like, oh my God, there's so much, there's so much available. [00:17:41] Jason: Yes, there is. So we help them get focused.  [00:17:43] Sarah: And that's great. But it's like when you go to a buffet you're not going to eat everything at the buffet.  [00:17:48] Jason: No.  [00:17:49] Sarah: You only want to eat the things that you want right now. Yeah. And maybe you're like, oh, I'm saving room for dessert later. I know. Like, I'm going to pace myself because I want dessert later for sure. And that's great because you're not ready for dessert now. So it's not that you skip it, it's just that you don't need it right now. So we have a much better system of figuring out what do you need right now. So it's a lot more personalized, it's a lot more customized and then you're able to go through a proven roadmap that's for your business and for your stage. And a lot of that lives in our client workbooks. And that way there's like one place to refer to, you know your belt level requirements. You know your Rapid Revamp to do items. You know what the homework is that you're supposed to be doing. Your sales tracker lives in there and all of your action items and to do items, they're all in there, so you know exactly what to be doing and there's one document to refer to that makes it really easy. [00:18:45] Jason: And when you talk to a coach, we'll map out exactly what you know, we want to figure out your goals, and then we map out tactical items for you to check off and to work on specific to you. And so, even though we've got some different, you know, paths and formulas and classes, we always tailor this to our clients. [00:19:02] Jason: And the client workbook really helps that communication. It literally gets us on the same page, right? Yeah. Together. So, we've added client Success manager, my daughter Madi, who manages all her social media, does all our video editing. She is now also our client success manager, and she's amazing at that. [00:19:17] Jason: So we've had a couple different client success managers over the years and that's really helped improve the connection clients have, the clarity they have, and we also have giselle on our team who can find anything for clients and help them find things.  [00:19:32] Sarah: Giselle is like ai, but she's not. [00:19:34] Jason: Right. Yeah.  [00:19:36] Sarah: She's the best human AI I've ever seen.  [00:19:40] Jason: Yeah. So, and so we've got really good support systems for our clients. We also now leverage Telegram Messenger. We used to use Voxer. Some of my clients in the past, maybe remember Voxer. So I think we've upgraded by using Telegram Messenger for sure. [00:19:54] Jason: And it's a lot more reliable. And so we coach clients directly through it. Walkie-talkie style. They can answer questions anytime. So that's been really effective.  [00:20:01] Sarah: And I mean, that's super powerful too because, yeah, this is the one thing that I like, especially in the Rapid Revamp. I harp on this a lot. [00:20:08] Sarah: Do you have any idea how powerful it is to be connected to a coach? 24 hours a day? Like there is no time in the world that you cannot message us. Yeah. So you can message Jason, you can message me, you can message our whole client success team, including Madi. You can message us any time at all. [00:20:25] Sarah: It doesn't mean we're going to get back to you immediately. Sure. But we get back to you pretty darn quickly. Yeah. And out of all the communication channels, those are the ones that we check the most. So like Jason will never check his email. So if you ever email Jason, it's a black hole, don't do it. [00:20:41] Jason: Someone else will read it. Eventually  [00:20:42] Sarah: But Telegram, he checks Telegram a lot. And I check Telegram. I mean, I message people sometimes back at midnight, like if they send me a message at 11 and I'm still awake at midnight, I'm like, okay. I'm like messaging you in bed. I have no problem doing that. [00:20:55] Sarah: But you're connected very easily and very quickly to a coach who can rapidly answer questions. And it's not, you know, it's not like this cumbersome thing where you're like, "oh, I have to get on a call and figure out a time that works for me." Right? Like it works for you all the time because you just send a message. [00:21:12] Jason: Yeah. So that's been real effective. We've got three different weekly group coaching calls. We've got a Rapid Revamp class where we're optimizing the product of the business. And getting the business dialed up and ready for growth. Then we've got our Growth Accelerator class that we do. So the Rapid Revamp's on Tuesdays. Growth Accelerator is on Wednesdays, and this is where we focus on just adding doors. [00:21:34] Jason: We work with BDMs, we work with salespeople, we work with business owners to figure out how to grow and working on different growth engines. And then we have our Friday class, which is our operations class where we get into creating scalable operations so that you can handle high paced growth without the business falling apart. [00:21:52] Jason: So, we've also added in our Growth Accelerator, we've added a bunch of different growth engines. These are different sort of vehicles or engines you can build in your business that feed you business organically without having to pay for marketing or advertising. And it's actually more effective than any cold lead advertising we've seen to date. [00:22:12] Jason: We just brought on a client with 6,000 doors that was spending 30 grand a month. Trying to do internet marketing and digital marketing to grow their business, and they reached out to us for help. And so we're giving them a better strategy of leveraging business development managers in each market doing organic outreach, and they're going to grow way faster. [00:22:29] Jason: And it's going to cost them way less money. Way less. Right.  [00:22:32] Sarah: And for those of you that are doing paid marketing, do you think you can outspend someone who's spending $30,000 a month?  [00:22:38] Jason: Right. And the reality is there's very little search volume of people looking for property management on the internet, and that's what all of the companies are competing in that red bloody water. And there's tons of blue ocean of people. 60% are self-managing. There's no scarcity. And so we help you get these different growth engines dialed in and we've got great tactics like you know, product research interviews, realtor intros, which is 10 times more effective than realtor referrals, which a lot of you try and it doesn't work super well. [00:23:05] Jason: We've got you know, some clever tactics of going direct to investors. We also launched this ROI calculator that's pretty brilliant. That goes along with our realtor intro strategy. We've got the neighbor strategy. Which helps you get business from neighboring property management companies, which is really brilliant. [00:23:23] Jason: We've got warm review outreach, which will help you get better reviews, help you increase the lifetime value of your tenants and owners, and help you get more referrals from your existing clients. And so that can be real effective. Any one of these has helped our clients at a hundred to 200 doors a year organically, and you can install as many of these as you want. [00:23:42] Jason: We've got outbound partner prospecting where you can go after lenders, insurance agents, attorneys, vendors, and another example is groups like one to many sales and how to, instead of walking away from a group interaction where you hope maybe you'll get a lead or a referral or something, you walk away with scheduled, booked calls and can make money. [00:24:04] Jason: So, cool. So those are some of our growth engines. Let's talk about, this is new.  [00:24:09] Sarah: I love talking about DoorGrow Hiring. We could do a whole podcast episode on just that alone. Sure. And this is not specific just to property management businesses, this is businesses in general. Yeah. They. Really struggle with hiring. [00:24:22] Sarah: It's hard. It is so challenging and what usually happens is you wait until you're in pain and then you hurry up to hire and then your situation gets worse than it was before. And then, now you've got, you know, some scar tissue and now you're like, oh, I don't think I want to hire. Or like, ah, there's no good people out there. [00:24:44] Sarah: Like, I've been burned before. And it's because people approach everything pretty much the wrong way. Yeah. So we built this into entire system that's called DoorGrow Hiring. And we'll take people through it to make sure that you've got everything in line that you need ahead of time. So that you can actually be prepared to find the right person. We also give you proven processes to help you find the right people. Including things like your R Docs, which is just a fancy word for job description, your company culture. We build out your application, we put it on your website. We give you like the job postings. We give you an interview guide. [00:25:20] Sarah: I literally give you the words to use in an interview, these are the questions you're going to ask. This is the order you're going to ask them in, and these are the words you're going to say, and then that is it. We take you like step by step. So we created this whole system in order to help people find really great team members instead of playing Russian roulette with hiring, which is really dangerous. [00:25:45] Jason: Yeah. So, and the whole crux of it is focused on the three fits, which is finding the right culture fit, skill fit, and personality fit for the role. You cannot create those in people, you have to find them. And finding all three can be challenging and our whole hiring system's built around that. So, just three more things real quick. [00:26:03] Jason: One, we've focused on the five levels of exit. So a lot of property managers can't figure out how to exit the frontline work of the business, so they end up then selling the business because they're miserable in it. So we help you figure out how to get to there's five levels. We help you figure out how to get to somewhere in the middle where you're happiest and you're out of that frontline work without going all the way to exit five and selling the business and having a lack of purpose or you know, not having the business anymore and then trying to start something new and getting to the same level of problem in the video game and you keep losing against the same boss and whatever. So we help you figure out how to beat that boss in the video game. We also launched DoorGrow OS, which is a really robust planning system. [00:26:45] Jason: We have found some fundamental flaws in other planning systems, which are a step up. Just having one like EOS, Traction, Rocket Fuel, some of this kind of stuff. We've built something we believe is innovative and far better after working with some of the most brilliant operations people. And, probably in the world. [00:27:01] Jason: And so this is DoorGrow OS and this is our secret sauce at DoorGrow. And so we're helping people roll out and implement a planning cadence and system and get operators in place that can run this for you, the visionary entrepreneurs. So that your business runs smoothly and you can handle high-paced growth and have goals and get your team focused on the strategic side of the business rather than just being micromanaged through tactical work and task management. [00:27:29] Jason: And then this is the last item you want to talk about this one? [00:27:33] Sarah: Well, we've got our DoorGrow Live conference coming up, so I think you did the first one in like 2018. Then we took a break and then we brought them back. So yeah. We run our DoorGrow Live conference once a year, this is our big event, we open it up to clients, past clients, people who have never even worked with us. People who are in and around the property management industry, including real estate. Because if you're in real estate, you should seriously consider getting into property management, or at least knowing a property manager. And if you need to know a great property manager, there's going to be a lot of them in the room. [00:28:06] Sarah: So, the DoorGrow Live, it's a really powerful event. We bring in some fantastic speakers. It's always very motivational and very tactical, so no matter what it is that you're looking for from the event, you will find it there. And it's a great place to connect and meet people who are doing the same thing that you are doing. [00:28:28] Sarah: Because that is just such a powerful tool to be able to have a network of people that you can rely on and that understand you and understand what exactly you're trying to do and what you're going through.  [00:28:40] Jason: Yeah, and we have some amazing vendors that sponsor the event. One of them told me this is the only event that they now do of all the property management events, because it's their favorite. It's the best one. Even though it's small compared to many. They love this one and they get so much value out of learning and being at it as an entrepreneur. And so that says a lot. And so, these are different property managers. [00:29:03] Jason: These are growth-minded people that invest in their businesses. These are not the people that are just trying to have a shitty vacation and escape and go to a bar. These are people that are focused on growth. And so if you want to be around the best in the industry DoorGrow Live is the place to be around the best, and you are the sum of the five property management business owners that you're the most connected to. [00:29:23] Jason: You know, birds of a feather flock together. So if you're growth minded, you want to be at this event. So, and by the time this airs, for a lot of you, if you're listening to this on Spotify or somewhere else. You may have already missed this year, so, but get your tickets and we've got some cool bonuses that we're giving to people if they attend. [00:29:40] Jason: So. Cool. That's it for today. If you have felt stuck or stagnant or want to take your property management business the next level, reach out to us at DoorGrow.com. Also join our free Facebook community just for property management business owners. We reject 70% of applicants doorgrowclub.com. And if you found this even a little bit helpful, don't forget to subscribe and leave us a review. [00:30:02] Jason: We'd really appreciate it. Until next time, remember, the slowest path to growth is to do it alone, so let's grow together. Bye everyone.

I'm Lesley Logan, Pilates instructor and fitness business coach. I've trained thousands of people around the world and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt. My friends, action brings clarity and it's the antidote to fear. Each week, my guest will bring bold, executable, intrinsic and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and Be It Till You See It. It's a practice, not a perfect. Let's get started.Lesley Logan 0:51  Welcome back to the Be It Till You See It interview recap where my co-host in life, Brad, and I are going to dig in to this validating convo I had in the last episode with Dr. Judith Joseph. Brad Crowell 0:59  Dr. Judith Joseph. Lesley Logan 1:00  So good. I clearly decided to start while Brad is still getting ready, and we're not going to worry about that because he has ADD, I have ADHD. We're just going with it. Okay? This is how two people making it work. Guys, how are you? I cannot believe this is episode 509, on the day that we're recording this, I'm gonna actually post and celebrate the episode 500 that like just happened. It came, it went. Life was going on. Because, you know, life, life's fucking life, guys. Lesley Logan 1:26  So today is April 10th and it's Consumer Awareness Week. Consumer Awareness Week takes place from April 10th to 16th this year. Oh, thank you. Brad Crowell 1:37  Ready to get started now, guys. Okay, here we go.Lesley Logan 1:37  This day aims to educate buyers and consumers about their basic rights. This includes access to information regarding the goods and products they are purchasing. The sellers are enforced by law to reveal the ingredients they are using in their products, and they also have to follow certain guidelines regarding quality and standard of the product of being sold. If any of the above stated rules are broken, the seller's answerable to the court of law. Yes, consumers are powerful and many laws have been passed to protect them from being exploited. Are you aware of all of your rights? If not, celebrate the week and find out all there is to know. So here's the deal, actually, really, really important. Depending on what state you live in, those who are in the States, you have different consumer buyer laws, depending which country you live in, like there's these different things. So definitely, if you don't know, you should absolutely do some research and do some Googling. But I also just want to say, like, we're recording this after several different weeks and days and months of like, exercising our consumers and power, and it is working. Like, have you seen how much it's working? Like, I don't shop at Target, but I've been part of the not shopping at Target. Like, you know, there's a couple things we need, I was like, not getting it there. My poor assistant was like, so where are we getting these things? And I'm like, oh, here's an art store you can go get them at, and they're $1 more, and it's gonna be fine. So Target's less, like, $15 billion the last time I checked, $15 billion, $15 billion, you guys, this is great news. I don't want anyone to lose their jobs, none of that kind of stuff. But also, like, we have to tell these people who is in charge here, so. Brad Crowell 3:04  Yeah, it's actually really difficult right now, especially in the States, with people taking a wrecking ball to the things that that actually hold companies accountable, such as the FTC and their Consumer Protection Bureau. So there are literally laws that are supposed to protect us, and right now, there are people in power who are trying to give companies back the power to do anything that they choose, and that is going to eventually affect every single person, not just in the United States, but if you're buying products that were made in the United States and you're overseas, they might not be made with the same kind of qualities that, you know, they need to be, so. Lesley Logan 3:45  So here's the thing, even if you feel like you have no rights or voice, your dollar has power wherever you live in this world. And so where you spend that money does matter. And I get it like we have been in places in the States where I'm like, okay, so this is the only place we can shop right now. This is the only place to go. So, you know, don't, please, don't starve. Please don't, like, go without, but like, if you can spend an extra dollar and go to a different store, go support small businesses. Go support women-owned businesses. Go support people of color businesses. Like, I promise you, you'll feel so much freaking better. You'll just feel better. Like, it felt good to be like, oh, we're gonna, look at this place over here that has exactly what we need.Brad Crowell 4:18  I mean, slash or I'm just buying less stuff because I'm like, oh, I need to buy that thing and what would be my normal thing would be, go to Amazon and just order the thing. Lesley Logan 4:26  You know, in one of the FYFs, I actually told people how they can boycott like in a way that like helps them. So if you haven't ever listened to FYFs, I'm adding like things in it that inspire me, plus your wins, plus my wins, and they're still under 15 minutes. And I actually did do it. It's really fun. Okay. Brad Crowell 4:41  Cool. Cut me off. So what I was actually gonna finish saying there is that, you know, I'm actually buying less stuff because my natural inclination is to just go to Amazon and then to just order it, right? But now I'm like, okay, well, if I'm not ordering from Amazon, or if I'm not ordering from Target, or if I'm not ordering from Walmart, you know, then where am I going to get this? And now there's more effort to go figure that out, and probably requires a trip to the store, which I don't really have the time and the schedule to just go do that. So the convenience is, is definitely something that we're trading. But also my pocketbook thanks me, because did I really need to buy that thing. Chances are it's 50-50.Lesley Logan 5:23  Yeah, yeah. Well, in the FYF episode, I actually explained it, you could also borrow it if you need to, like, if you really need it, but you don't need it forever, you could just borrow it, right? So anyways, we have to keep going. So know your rights. Consumers all around the world do some research. This will actually make you it'll make the companies that you work with even better because of it. Brad Crowell 5:40  Yep. Lesley Logan 5:41  Okay, we just literally wrapped up the eLevate retreat. So that's a retreat at our house for those who graduated the eLevate program. And we also had just wrapped the reformer weekend for eLevate round five, which is super, super fun. If you're interested as a teacher in eLevate, you can apply for 2026's program, and then that way you could come to 2027's retreat, because the retreat is for the grads, and it's really special. I guess, don't you love it? I love it. I love having the people here. I love having all the different years of grads here. I love being able to see them in person. So it was absolutely fabulous.Brad Crowell 6:14  It's a good time. It's a good time. People are amazing, and it's, what's been really fun is to see the incredible sense of community created even across different groups of grads. So year one, year two, year three, etc, etc, where, where they're intentionally building community, and they're part of this really amazing group. So it's been fun to see that from our perspective, for sure. Lesley Logan 6:38  Yeah. And then also, last week, we actually opened up the registration for the UK tour, the Mullet Tour. Brad Crowell 6:41  The Mullet Tour. Lesley Logan 6:41  So, you guys, if you are in Europe or the UK, or you want to fly there, we're going to be there this September. Brad Crowell 6:52  Yeah, we're going to be there in September. And what is a Mullet Tour, Les? Lesley Logan 6:55  Business in the morning, Pilates in the evening. That's how it goes. Business in the front, party in the back, business in the morning, Pilates in the back, in the evening. No? Brad Crowell 7:05  Well, sort of. You just mixed a whole bunch of things, but it's business in the front, Pilates in the back.Lesley Logan 7:12  Right, but it's in the morning and then the Pilates is in the evening. Brad Crowell 7:15  Yeah, okay, we're gonna go with that. Lesley Logan 7:17  Well, that's what the Mullet Tour is. It's our second event. It's not annual, because we skipped a couple years. So I don't know the next time we'll be in the UK. I'll be really honest. We're already booking 2026 stuff, and 2027 we just got booked for something potentially so like this might be it, UK, for a couple, for a little bit, so. Brad Crowell 7:35  For a bunch of years. Lesley Logan 7:37  Yeah. So get in. Brad Crowell 7:38  Do it. Make sure you're paying attention. Lesley Logan 7:41  If you understand how the UK works, the studios are quite small, so space is limited, opc.me/uk is where you can get that information. You can come to workshops. You can come to classes. Obviously, the deal is in there. If you get all the good stuff for the Mullet, the whole Mullet, you need the whole Mullet to get the deal. Also coming up. Brad Crowell 7:57  You need to show up with a mullet or you can't come. Just kidding. Don't do that.Lesley Logan 8:02  (inaudible) on a lot of people. So don't do it. All right. April and this month that we're in right now, towards the very end, it is Spring Training. What is Spring Training? Well, there's the baseball people's doing spring training, and it's our version, and it's a week of Pilates classes with the OPC teachers and myself, mat classes, reformer classes, chair classes, tower classes. You can get the mat only ticket, or you can get the full spring training pass. It's a freaking great deal. If you go to opc.me/events, you'll hear about it as an early bird, which means you'll get a better price than anyone else. Brad Crowell 8:35  Yeah, get yourself on the wait list. Lesley Logan 8:36  You don't have to be a teacher. You can be someone who's just been doing Pilates. You can also be someone who's like, pie-curious, and you're like, I don't know. Maybe this is time. It's gonna be a lot of fun. I'm just gonna say we have uniforms. The dog has a uniform, everything. Brad Crowell 8:37  It's gonna be great. In fact, there's a theme to this one. It's all about the push ups. Lesley Logan 8:54  Oh yes. Brad Crowell 8:55  So this is our first annual spring training. We do want to do this every single year, but that will depend on you, gotta show up. Lesley Logan 9:03  We wouldn't do push ups next year. And also, if you would, ah, push ups, it means you have to sign up.Brad Crowell 9:08  That's right. Lesley Logan 9:08  It means you have to sign up. Brad Crowell 9:09  It's intentional. All right, cool. So that kicks off at the end of April. So go to opc.me/events right now, so you can get on the waitlist where you're actually gonna get that early bird offer. Only the people on the waitlist get the early bird offer. If you are a Pilates business owner in any way, meaning you are taking clients and getting paid by anybody, then I want you to come to my free Pilates business webinar. It's called the Growth Accelerator, and it's going to help you, whether you have a studio or home studio, or you're taking clients in the park. Go to prfit.biz/accelerator. That's profit without the O dot biz slash accelerator, and we're going to be talking about the three biggest secrets that Lesley and I have learned over the past 2500 clients we've coached. We're going to share those things with you, and it is awesome, actually. It's really been a great experience so far, doing this on a consistent basis, and we want you to join us. Lastly. Lesley Logan 10:01  Lastly, we're going to Cambodia this fall. Brad Crowell 10:05  Yep, October. Lesley Logan 10:06  Yeah and people are like, oh, I want the 2026 dates. And I have to say, we have a tentative date, but we are waiting on some news. Brad Crowell 10:11  We are waiting on a couple of other things to fall into place before we can confirm the 2026 dates. But here's what we can tell you, we're only going once in 2026, this year '25, we were able to go twice, next year because we're traveling to Europe at the beginning part of the year, we can only go to Cambodia one time. Lesley Logan 10:27  And so we want you to come this time. Brad Crowell 10:29  Don't wait, like, a year and a half from now to do this. Lesley Logan 10:31  No, I mean, like, things will just be, your life is not going to get less busy. Brad Crowell 10:35  It's true. It's very true. Lesley Logan 10:37  Like, just like, when does that ever happen? So, so you're going to go to crowsnestretreats.com and snag your spot. Brad Crowell 10:43  Yep, crowsnestretreats. Lesley Logan 10:45  Only a few spots. Go grab yours. Okay. Brad Crowell 10:48  crowsnestretreats.comLesley Logan 10:50  Yes, do that. Okay, we have to talk about Dr. Judith Joseph, but first we have a few audience member questions. Audience questions to answer. Brad Crowell 10:58  We do. This is interesting. We've had a bunch of questions come in recently about types of equipment and models and brands and all those kinds of things. So I'm just gonna quickly zip down them, @JohnLanningQ7B on YouTube, asks, hey, my wife is looking for a machine currently. What brand model is yours, Specifically? He was referencing a reformer video, @Finaloadonell3419 on YouTube asks, where can I buy a mat like you're using? And @marilynhighness4234 on YouTube also asks, hello, thanks for this great workout. May I ask where can I get this Pilates mat with handles and a strap? Thank you so much. Lesley Logan 11:35  Yes. Okay, so John, my reformer is a Contrology Reformer. I like the 80-inch. It's really amazing. Prefer it to anything longer, unless your wife is over six-four, that's what I would get. And I like calling a machine myself as well. I think it's really cool. Also, it makes it feel like that's why it's expensive. It's a machine. I buy it. So that's what I use. Brad Crowell 11:57  You can go to opc.me/reformer and you can literally get a link to the one that Lesley uses. Lesley Logan 12:03  There's a little discount on it too. Then for my mat lovers, I use the Contrology Mat. That's the mat with the handles. I prefer the Contrology Mat to all the other brands out there. Yes, I've tried most of them all, and the rest are too squishy, way too squishy. And after just teaching the reformer weekend and then having the mat weekend eLevators, every single different teacher who was on my equipment was able to be like, oh, this, this is what is happening, right? Like, this is what, like, this is why I'm not connecting when I think I'm connected, because most people are on too squishy of apparatus. And so if you're a tight person, the squish, kind of like fills in the gaps, and if you're a hyper mobile person. you kind of like, fold into the squish. So you want to get the Contrology Mat and. Brad Crowell 12:47  Just fold in the squish. Lesley Logan 12:48  You fold in the squish. Brad Crowell 12:49  Just fold it in. Lesley Logan 12:50  Just fold it in. Brad Crowell 12:50  Fold it in. Lesley Logan 12:51  Yeah. So opc.me/mat gets you the discount link for the mat, if those for whatever reason, don't show a discount at checkout, then just hit me up and with your email and I will connect you to a person. So that was all the questions, right? I answered them. Brad Crowell 13:05  Yeah, you got all three. Lesley Logan 13:06  Yeah. I'm a cool, I'm a Contrology demo center. So I think it's really important that you know I'm freaking biased. However, that being said, my bias does not come from me not having explored all the equipment or having other brands. I have actually just sold them because I prefer the Contrology I really think that they have a great thing going on there, and their customer service is really helpful if anything goes wrong. So I, not that that does happen. But you know, like, shippers, things like, you gotta just, you want to have build up relationship. And I really love Balanced Body, and Jay worked with them closely on the Contrology line and you know how much I love Jay, by the way, the day that we're recording, this is his birthday. Brad Crowell 13:40  What? Lesley Logan 13:41  It's his birthday today. Brad Crowell 13:42  Come on, I didn't know that. Lesley Logan 13:43  Yeah, we did. Last year, we actually celebrated his birthday with him.Brad Crowell 13:48  Well, I didn't, yeah, okay, cool. I'm not remembering last March 25th.Lesley Logan 13:52  Happy Birthday, Jay. And he hates it. Brad Crowell 13:55  Happy Birthday, Jay. Lesley Logan 13:55  He hates right now that we're doing any of this. Okay, well, now go get your Contrology stuff, and if you have questions about any of it, you can just DM me. I will happily answer. I love talking about equipment and making sure you get the right stuff for you and what your practice is. And you know, somebody else was like, hey, I'm thinking of getting a folding reformer instead of a mat and spine corrector. And I was actually able to talk about, like, why there is a classical reformer that folds. I have not personally experienced it. It is not cheaper than a regular reformer. It just happens to fold up. And when I'm in Chicago this fall, I'll get to kind of explore it with someone who is in my program who has access to a Contrology Reformer, and that one so I can give you more comparisons, but like, it doesn't become cheaper, it just becomes foldable. Anyways. Brad Crowell 14:38  I just want to give you guys a quick update. The actual link for the mat is opc.me/foldingmat, folding mat. Lesley Logan 14:45  Folding mat. Brad Crowell 14:47  Folding mat. Because you're gonna fold in the mat.Lesley Logan 14:49  Fold in the mat. All right. The wheels have come off this bus. We have to take a brief break, and then we're gonna come back and talk about Dr. Judith Joseph.Brad Crowell 14:56  Stick around. Brad Crowell 14:59  Welcome back. All right, let's talk about Dr. Judith Joseph. Dr. Judith Joseph, MD, MBA is a board certified psychiatrist, researcher and passionate mental health advocate, recognized in the 2023 Congress Proclamation Award, with that award. She's dedicated to making mental health conversations more accessible through groundbreaking research and social media. In her book, High Functioning: Overcome Your Hidden Depression and Reclaim Your Joy, Dr. Joseph helps readers identify hidden depression and discover the unique science behind their own happiness. And I'm really excited to dig in, because there's a ton to learn in last episode. Lesley Logan 15:37  I learned so much. I mean, this was like I got turned on to this guest because we have a different guest. We had on about anahandria. And I was like, okay, this is the first time I've heard this word. I'm very interested. And so then a friend of mine who listens to the pod. Brad Crowell 15:52  What it? What is it? Lesley Logan 15:53  Anahandria.Brad Crowell 15:54  No, anhedonia. Lesley Logan 15:56  Anhedonia. Brad Crowell 15:58  Yeah. Lesley Logan 15:58  Anhedonia. Brad Crowell 15:59  Anhedonia, A-N-H-E-D-O-N-I-A anhedonia. Lesley Logan 16:03  Yeah, guys, I'm a little dyslexic. Anyways, so, but I had been turned on to this person, and I did some research. I like, went down the rabbit hole of her, and I was like, oh, I really love that we have another person's voice on this. And also, like, a book that's coming, that's out on this. And so first of all, there's so much in the episode, you must go back and listen to it. Also you have to grab her book, ladies, I think it's gonna be amazing for you to give to your friend. But she said, there's a, there are tons of people out there who have the symptoms of a depression but are still functioning and over-functioning because they are the rock and I think a lot of people listening, I mean, if you didn't feel so seen and so heard during this episode, like you, there's not a time for you to be depressed. Brad Crowell 16:46  Yeah, who's, who's the rock, like, you know the person who keeps the family together, or the person who, you know, you could be the breadwinner, or. Lesley Logan 16:55  You might not even be the breadwinner, but you're, you're the like, you might bring money to the family, but like, you're the person who gets them on the bus. You're the person who gets every like, if you take a day off, there's no groceries for dinner, like you're the rock, like you're the. Brad Crowell 17:09  Teacher, doctor, boss person, you know, whatever. Lesley Logan 17:11  But also, like you could be working at a place, and especially now with everything's going on, you could feel like, if you stop, they'll just replace you, and then you have nothing to go back to, and that's gonna even be more depressing and more so you are just like over. Brad Crowell 17:26  You're not allowed to stop, you're not allowed to fall apart, no way. Lesley Logan 17:28  So you keep it all together, but you're actually like, not happy, and the things that used to make you happy don't make you happy anymore.Brad Crowell 17:35  We have this idea, this preconceived idea, of what depression is, and that's not necessarily like, the only way that depression looks, right? Depression certainly can look like that, but also it, we might not realize that we're depressed because we think, well, I'm out there kicking ass and taking names everyday.Lesley Logan 17:53  I get up, I got, I've showered, I wash my hair, so I can't be depressed because I got dressed and I'm actually doing great at work.Brad Crowell 18:00  Yeah, and, and, you know, I think, I think there's something specific that you said about it, that you said, I'm going through the motions. There's no joy in it, you know. And I think she really responded to that. She, like, lit up. She's like, yes, that's exactly, that's exactly it like, you know, it's absolutely possible to still be doing all the things, but when there's no joy in any of it, that's like, can also be depression, right? Lesley Logan 18:29  Yeah. And I just want to add, before, I want to say, like, she said, not only over time does it wear on you, but it can feel like you don't have anywhere to turn to. Because if you go to the regular medical world, they're gonna be like, here, you look fine, right now, you know so, and my girlfriend is a social worker, and she was trained that people would be coming and looking for medication. So, like, she's like, Lesley, people probably needed it, but they're like, they looked clean. They looked like they got, they got them, like, all the things there. And so I think, like, it's just important to know that these different things are out there, and you might be experiencing them, and you might actually have to be advocating for yourself around these things. So I don't know, I just, this blew my mind.Brad Crowell 19:10  Yeah, and, you know the joy, the element of joy missing, I thought that was intriguing, but, but the other thing that I that like, really blew me away was it seems quite logical to me that we say my biology is different than your biology, so the food that I need is different than the food that you need. I know that they custom-make nutrition plans for the astronauts, they all have a different custom nutrition plan because their bodies function differently. Here's what I never took that to the next step and realized happiness doesn't look the same for everybody either, right? So we have this concept of like, well, do this thing to be happy. Well, that might make you happy, but it doesn't necessarily make me happy. And now that I'm saying it out loud, it sounds very logical, but I never thought about it. And when Dr. Judith said that, she said your happiness is not the same as my happiness. There's a lot of people out there trying all these different things, but it's not working for them. That's because they're basing it off of the science of somebody else's happiness. And she mentioned that, this was also, I found really interesting, so the definition of anhedonia was that, basically you're missing the joy, right? And there's more to it, but I'm forgetting it off the top of my head. But she said it's actually contagious, right? So if you work in a high stress environment, I'm putting that in air quotes, right, I used to work in a place like this, where it was stressful for no fucking reason, right? It was stressful. Why? Because the boss, that's how he felt like a good company's run, right? And so he would make arbitrary deadlines that had literally no reason. This has to be done by tomorrow. Why? Why? What's happening tomorrow? We just have to get it done by tomorrow, right? And it was like this manufactured stress, and it created this, like, high, this frenzy, this high, high, strong atmosphere, right? And that is contagious. And she said, but guess what? So is joy. Joy is also contagious, right? And I thought this is really interesting, because I've, I operated in this high stress environment for like, six years, and you know, people would come in and they would say, how do you do this? And I'd say, I don't know. I just do it, right, but it's probably because I was conditioned to do it. Well, interestingly enough, I think we can also flip that and condition ourselves to find joy, to be in joy, you know? And she said, when you start to shift inside, people are going to notice it in you. You have something that they want, and they're going to start gravitating towards you. Yeah, I, I really appreciated all this. And she said, she said, how do you know what happiness is for you? She said, there's a lot of science under it. Well, first off, she has a quiz about anhedonia, right? And I think that's, that's like a great. Lesley Logan 21:59  I love that quiz. Brad Crowell 22:00  It's a great jumping off point. We're gonna put the quiz in the show notes. The link to the quiz in the show notes.Lesley Logan 22:05  It's only 17 questions, and it takes two minutes. Brad Crowell 22:08  Yeah, it's a self-assessment tool for self-reflection, right, and it allows you to understand, like, yeah, am I finding the joy, you know, in my life? And then from there, she's got tons of resources. She obviously is the reason that the timing is really great here, because her book is just coming out right now, and she has a book called, it's called High Functioning: Overcome Your Hidden Depression and Reclaim Your Joy. Lesley Logan 22:36  You guys, you can pre-order it today and if it's available by the time, but, here's the thing, if you, like, I think this is the type of book that needs to be on the New York Times bestseller list, because we, the more people know about this, the more we can change the contagion. Brad Crowell 22:51  Yeah, so HFD is what it's about, right? High Functioning Depression. And she says, hey, look, it's not like an official diagnosis. You couldn't go to the doctor and get diagnosed as HFD. But I think that that's like comma yet, because her research is started, is effectively what she's trying to understand is, you know, like, you know, can this be something that can be diagnosed? Because people are experiencing these, these feelings, and they are, they are experiencing depression, even though they're, you know, high functioning. So, very interesting research. Lesley Logan 23:27  And also, I recently got added to the DSM at some point, because this, I was in high school, and the DSM was like a three so, like, we find things out and we add it in. So I. Brad Crowell 23:35  I don't know what a DSM is. Lesley Logan 23:37  Oh, it's this, it's like an encyclopedia for mental health stuff. So, like, it's where every doctor goes when it comes to, like, like your.Brad Crowell 23:44  Diagnosis of Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.Lesley Logan 23:47  Yes, yes. So when I was in high school, I remember it being, like, three, maybe, maybe it was a four already. But I remember being, I remember my teacher specifically saying, do you see how there's a three? It means there was a two and a one, and that means that like, as they, as we learn more, we add more and like, I think the more, I think it's really, not that we should label everything, but I do think when you have a label for what you're going through, you feel less alone, and you have an understanding of, like, how to operate, to get back to where you want to be. I just think that's how, that's how it works.Brad Crowell 24:23  Yeah. And I, you know, I do want to say, obviously, Lesley and I are not psychiatrists, but Dr. Judith is, so, you know, that's, that's a really great place to get started.Lesley Logan 24:32  If this is your first episode, and you were thinking you were listening to two psychiatrists. I'm so sorry to disappoint you. We are two people who talk to a lot of smart people.Brad Crowell 24:40  All right, well, stick around. We'll be right back. We're going to dig into those, Be It Action Items that you covered with Dr. Judith Joseph and they're pretty, they're pretty fire y'all. We're gonna dig into the Five Vs. We'll be right back. Brad Crowell 24:53  All right. Welcome back. Let's get into these Be It Action Items. What bold, executable, intrinsic or targeted action items can we take away from your convo with Dr. Judith, Joseph? I'm gonna go first here. She talked about practicing the Five Vs to reconnect yourself. And this, I had to go back and listen to this, like, two or three times, because she also talked about, like a overlapping Venn Diagram, and then, and then, like, the conversation just went a different direction. And we never finished that thought. And I was like, where is it? But we did cover the Five Vs. So the Five Vs, and she writes about them in depth in her new book, are Validation, Venting, Values, Vitals and Vision. She said they can really help you understand the science of your happiness and increasing those little points of joy every day. And what she means by that is, when you're doing research, you often create points, right? You like, like, if this happens, you get this many points. If that happens, you get this many points. If this happens, you lose points, whatever. They're points. It's a point-based system. And she said, so her tools help you evaluate your happiness in a, in a scientific way, you know, so and she uses these Five Vs to reconnect with herself. So what I was saying, I would start with her quiz. I'm sure part of the quiz is going to be going through these Five Vs, or at least that's in her book, and that'll help you start to figure out, like, you know, where are you on this? You know, are you? Are you? Do you have HFD, right? The High Functioning Depression. She says, Start with one or two. Don't, don't start with all five. Lesley Logan 26:24  Be It babes, you do not get to start with all five. You just start with one or two. That's what the doctor said.Brad Crowell 26:29  Okay, so pick one or two, tap into it. Don't overwhelm yourself. Validation and venting are great places to start. And so check in daily, and track your joy. So check in daily, and track your validation and venting and then she has the Anhedonia Scale to measure whether or not you are getting points of joy in life. So that Anhedonia Scale, we're going to link to that in the show notes as well, so that you have a quick link to go find this information. But, but this is great. I mean for, especially, for those of you who are a one woo person like me, having a systematic approach to measuring something as amorphous as happiness is very helpful. It helps, clarify things. So what about you?Lesley Logan 27:22  Well, I was just thinking about how the longer life is going the way it's going where we are, I might become a two woo. I might just go all in on the second woo. That doesn't mean I'm I'm not, I'm not for Dr. Judith. I'm just, just saying it right now, if you hear me say I'm a two woo girl, you know why.Brad Crowell 27:39  Heard it here first, people.Lesley Logan 27:40  Heard it here first. So the other part of her Be It Action Items that I really love was she said she was talking about Deepak Chopra meditation and like, how we can get caught up in, like, I'm a Pilates instructor, I'm a mom, I am this. And like, when you even say your name, your name can represent a lot of different things that you're known for, or what people think you are known for, or whatever it is. And so she suggested you do what he said, which is like, lose your name and just say I am, I am, and you can repeat I am. And what it does is it really helps you become present in just being a human, in your experience that day. And that is like just being right, like we forget to just kind of be in our bodies, which is really, really cool, and you get to have that self-reflection. So, and I think it's easy to forget who we are or like or think of ourselves as, like, having all these different compartments, and then forgetting, like, why are we doing all the things we're doing? What is all this for? You know, and I really like when I lead a breath work session. I'll ask the people, like in agency, I'll ask them, like, okay, like, if you need more energy from others, put your palms up. And if you need more energy, if you want to actually keep the energy you have, you don't want any more from anyone else, put your palms down. And I actually, like, sit there and I ask myself, like, I notice I ask myself the same question, like, do I need more from others? Do I need this? So, like, being able to be present is really helpful and understanding like what we need and who we are and where the joy is coming from. So you guys, I was blown away. I'm blown away by Dr. Judith Joseph, and I am so grateful that she was on the pod. We get to say we knew her when this book goes on the bestseller list and the HFD becomes something that we all can actually like, you know, find easily if we need it. And so go, go check her out, go get her book. And I'm Lesley Logan. Brad Crowell 28:10  And I'm Brad Crowell. Lesley Logan 29:28  Thank you so much for joining us today. And he said well, guess what? That's all you're gonna be. I'm good. I was like, oh, I don't want to just be good. I'll be fucking amazing. Lesley Logan 0:10  Welcome to the Be It Till You See It podcast where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring. Let's get started.  Lesley Logan 0:51  Welcome back to the Be It Till You See It interview recap where my co-host in life, Brad, and I are going to dig into the intentional convo I have with Nick Hiter in our last episode. If you haven't yet listened to that episode you have missed out. Just gonna say it. He's got some quotables (inaudible) talk about in a second.Brad Crowell 1:06  Couple of great nuggets. There was even a point where you said rewind that.Lesley Logan 1:10  I did. I did say rewind that. You know, I'm starting to do that, because people maybe like, oh so good. And if I say rewind, they'll be like, oh, I can do that. (inaudible) Everyone knows how to use technology. And also, you guys, I know, I think I said in our interview, but Nick and I had an amazing conversation on his podcast at Hitstreak, and that episode has been out for over a month. Just the content alone is still getting likes and shares like thousands. So just saying, I was pretty amazing too. But really, he has great questions, and he has a great podcast. You'll want to listen to the Hitstreak. Okay. Today is August 29th 2024 and it's More Herbs Less Salt Day. Enjoy More Herbs Less Salt Day on August 29th by reassessing your sodium intake. We understand that maintaining a balanced, healthy diet is easier said than done, especially since the flavor suffers the most. But healthy eating is no longer bland and boring. Spices and aromatic herbs are a great way to reduce salt in meals and amp up the taste. Your taste buds won't know what they're missing and your body will be grateful. I fucking love a salt lick. So I'm just gonna say right now, like, I'm gonna fail on this day.Brad Crowell 2:13  I put this in here on purpose because Lesley is always like, did you add salt? Did you add salt? Did you add more salt? Can you just add some more?Lesley Logan 2:19  I love. I love salt. You guys, I swear to God, I need a salt lick.Brad Crowell 2:24  Well, we also live in Vegas, and we sweat a lot and you know.Lesley Logan 2:26  Yes. And also, I had tests down where they're like, you could add more salt.Brad Crowell 2:31  Really? Lesley Logan 2:31  Yes. Chris Talley was like, you can eat more salt. I'm ike, tortilla chips with salt. He's like, add salt to the salsa. Yeah, no problem. So anyways, like, just in general, I need more. I think, as I do work out as much as I do, and we do live in Vegas, I'm just sweating. At any rate, there are some great herbs out there, and if you work with Femgevity, you will find out your food sensitivities. Because, hi. Brad Crowell 2:54  Femgevity.Lesley Logan 2:55  Femgevity. Because, like I do, you should use our link—beitpod.com/femgevity—it's spelled like, how you think. Did we find that? Is it basil that I can't have? What's on the list? There was some (inaudible).Brad Crowell 3:06  Basil is on the list I think that you're, well, you're.Lesley Logan 3:09  We love basil. Brad Crowell 3:10  You have a mild, a mild.Lesley Logan 3:11  It's a mild sensitivity.Brad Crowell 3:12  Sensitivity to basil. Lesley Logan 3:14  It's, yeah. And then there was a moderate one that was kind of a bummer as well. We'll have to look at it. (inaudible) It's on the list on the refrigerator, guys. I clearly don't cook, he does and we have a list on the fridge. Brad Crowell 3:24  Well, here's what's super cool. For Cyber Monday, Black Friday, whatever deal one year I got one of those, grow it in your kitchen, little garden situation how in the house, on the counter. And I was like, oh, this is so annoying, because once the thing grows and dies, I gotta buy a whole new pod from them. Well, they're only 10 bucks or 12 bucks for like, six pods. I was like, oh, okay, it's not the end of the world.Lesley Logan 3:50  No, it's way less than buying the herbs that go bad in your fridge. Brad Crowell 3:53  Way less than buying the herbs that go bad in your fridge, way.Lesley Logan 3:57  And the plastic around those herbs.Brad Crowell 4:01  Is the worst, just so much waste. Anyway, what's so fun about that, though, is you could have fresh herbs in your kitchen, just be where basil does take over, and so does mint. Mint takes over. Lesley Logan 4:12  Also, like. Brad Crowell 4:13  No, the mint. Lesley Logan 4:13  Was it the mint? I swear it was a dill, because the dill went first. And I was like, first. It did die first, but we also it grew so fast I'm like, what do I use dill on besides a deviled egg? We're gonna make a pickle. What's happening here? Brad Crowell 4:25  It grew and then it got choked out. Lesley Logan 4:27  But we highly recommend herbs. So if, so, first of all, make sure that you are eating ones that are awesome with your body and your body wants. And second, grow your own because it's better for the environment and for your wallet. Okay, upcoming events and travel. We talked about this before, but if you are a Pilates instructor, my mentorship for 2025 applications are open. How many spots are left? I don't know, we're recording this in advance. So there might be none, but there might be some. And also we can talk about 2026, should it be full? So go to lesleylogan.co/elevate. This is for teachers who are looking for someone to help them connect deeper to the method and really up-level their teaching, their practice, especially their practice, and their connection to the method. It is really a lot of fun. Not only can help build confidence if something you're lacking, but also can actually just really empower you to see what's in front of you and teach the body in front of you. And it just feels freaking awesome when you do that, you change more lives. Cambodia retreat, we are less than six months out for the February Cambodia retreat.Brad Crowell 5:26  Yeah, just under six, just under six. Lesley Logan 5:28  I'm so excited. It's really fun in a non-culty way, and we do really, really fun things. So, crowsnestretreats.com. Brad Crowell 6:01  Yeah. crowsnestretreats.com. You're going to have a pathway forward after this. Go to prfit.biz/accelerator. That's profit without the O dot B-I-Z slash accelerator. P-R-F-I-T dot biz slash accelerator. And join me for free. All right, but before we get into it with Mr. Nick Hiter, we did have an audience question, and today's was from YouTube. Melissa dash A-X-H-I-L-I-1-L-I whatever it's a lot, we're just gonna say Melissa. Melissa asked Lesley, where did you get your Pilates certification? Lesley Logan 8:04  So this is a really good question. I've been trying to think about, like, what do I want to say? Because if you're asking because you want to go train there, like, my first training program is in some place that I recommend people. So I'm not going to say it, because I don't want to discuss why I wouldn't recommend it. It was a great program. Brad Crowell 8:05  It was 600 hours. Lesley Logan 8:16  It was 600 hours. Brad Crowell 8:20  Certification only. Lesley Logan 8:21  No. Brad Crowell 8:22  No, it's comprehensive.Lesley Logan 8:22  I had a full comprehensive. And I will say, so the thing is, they don't do the training program that I did before. Now they let you do it modulated. So what I experienced wasn't the most amazing experience, but the setup was really successful because they did make me learn how to teach a beginner and an intermediate client at the same time on two different pieces of equipment, which is why I can just teach chaos and I'm safe with that, right? So I did appreciate that, but it left me feeling like I had memorized a lot but didn't know a lot. And so that's where I'll say the second training that I did, which was the Pilates Center out of Boulder Colorado, with Rachel Taylor Segel and Amy Taylor Alpers and their amazing crew. And I do recommend their program to people because it's around the world, and they have host studios everywhere, and they have virtual options. I also do, (inaudible) I do also recommend Equinox's program if you have access to them. It's very robust. They actually have a really great hybrid model of super, super super supportive help, and then also virtual options for comprehensive but that, so the Pilates Center in Boulder was the actual one that I did as my second one. I did their master's program, which was over three years, and that was several 100 more hours, and I was basically living.Brad Crowell 8:28  You were in and out of Boulder all the time. Lesley Logan 9:26  I was in and out of Boulder so much. Brad Crowell 9:37  I was like, what is this Pilates thing and why are they going to Boulder all the time?Lesley Logan 9:40  All the time, like every two weeks I was there.Brad Crowell 9:42  Are you with a cult? Why do you continue to go there?Lesley Logan 9:45  I know. And it was.Brad Crowell 9:46  That's when we first met, y'all. Lesley Logan 9:47  Super fun. Whole Foods and I were best friends every single day. I think at Mod Market, I think was where I had lunch. At any rate. So that was really helpful, because they helped me get rid of trying to correct people all the time. And I actually watched bodies a little bit more, but I still don't know what that meant and I don't really know what I was doing. And then I realized that I lived down the street from Vintage and Jay Grimes studio and Sandy Shimoda and Karen Frischmann, and so I actually studied with them, and all the things I've been looking for all in one place. It gave me a lot of confidence to just like, really enjoy the process and really enjoy what Joseph Pilates created for us. And here's what I'm gonna say, no first program is ever gonna get you what my third program got me like, it's just not possible. It's not a thing. So for those of you who are like looking to become a teacher, grab my book and then find the best program that is accessible to you, that sets you up for the most success, meaning you can teach.Brad Crowell 10:40  Her book is called Profitable Pilates: Everything But the Exercises. And the beginning part of it helps you choose a teacher training program that is going to help you get to where you want to go. So it explains where you could potentially go, and then works backwards from there. It's really great resource.Lesley Logan 10:56  Yeah. And then you'll come take my mentorship when you're ready. And the thing is, is that Jay will always sayBrad Crowell 11:01  The mentorship is for people who are already certified. Right? So first you're gonna go get certified through any of the myriad of training programs, teacher training programs that are out there. After you've gotten your certification, then you can come and do eLevate. Lesley Logan 11:14  Read my book, because I explain, like, what to be really looking for. Because if you take a mat training, then you want to take my mentorship, that doesn't, that doesn't work. If you just do a Reformer, there's you do have to be trained on multiple pieces of equipment, but to put pressure on your first training program to be everything for you isn't fair to you, nor them. However, there are some shitty ones out there, so be careful and read my book and it will explain like, what to look out for. And then here's the thing, Jay would always say, like, you're not really a teacher until you've been teaching for five years, and people can take a lot of offense to that. Of course, if you've only been teaching three years, I'm a teacher. I have full classes. I get that perspective. I have to say, there's also just a lot of confidence that comes with time and with allowing yourself to be curious. And when you've been teaching for five years, you really have kind of seen a lot of things, and you've realized, like, what's important, what's not important, and hopefully you're progressing people at a better pace than you did when you were beginning. But it's, a second training program is probably in your future for most teachers, because you don't, you're not learning how to say words and understand things, so just know that and give yourself permission to not have gotten it all out of the first program because it's hard to get all that out of any first programs. Brad Crowell 12:29  True. Yeah. Well, that's a great question. Melissa, thank you so much for asking. If you have a question, hit us up. You can text us at 310-905-5534, or you can hit us up on the gram or on YouTube or through our customer support anywhere you want. And I'm sure it'll work its way back here to the pod, and you'll be pleasantly surprised when your question surfaces over here. So thanks for that. Stick around, because we're about to dive in to this conversation with Nick Hiter. Brad Crowell 12:59  All right. Now, let's talk about Mr. Nick Hiter, former pro athlete, Nick Hiter is a dedicated husband and father, deeply rooted in his faith. As a seasoned entrepreneur, he co-owns agency, runs a merchant processing company and operates a set of studios and a creative agency in Tennessee. That sounds like a lot. Nick is also involved in digital marketing and manages various affiliate partnerships. Additionally, Nick is the host of the Hitstreak podcast and the voice of a SiriusXM radio station. So he keeps himself, clearly, quite busy, but he obviously has also surrounded himself with quite a team. Lesley Logan 13:36  Yeah, his team is amazing.Brad Crowell 13:36  We had a chance to meet that team, some of that team in person when we were in Nashville I don't remember a couple months back. They were super professional and had everything ready to go. I wasn't even involved in the interview, but they even made me feel like I was a guest on the show, and it was just really awesome. So a big shout out to the guys over there that we had a chance to work with and also Nick for putting together a really great crew, so. Brad Crowell 13:36  I'm gonna jump in. Brad Crowell 13:47  Do it. Lesley Logan 13:49  But I want to just preface like, about to say something that's gonna make somebody go, oh, this episode's not for me. What I'm gonna say after this applies to everything. Okay, see your own shit in the story. Brad Crowell 14:13  See your own shit. Lesley Logan 14:15  Sure. Nick is like, yes, thanks for saying see your own shit. When it comes to my like, like, I don't think he cusses at all. He mentioned digital marketing is massive. He said many people don't do social media, but then blame the algorithm. He talked about like, it's the algorithm you're blaming. He says you have to take ownership of things, because it's the only way you can fix it. And when we place blame on things, we give someone else ownership, and that means you've removed yourself from being part of the solution. So this goes for everything. When you blame other people or other things for why you didn't get something done Brad Crowell 14:46  Or you're not getting clients, or you're not finding teachers, or Lesley Logan 14:51  You've removed yourself from the solution, and there's, I don't even know how you get the solution solved. So I agree. I actually don't ever focus on the algorithm. I don't really care. I just like, let me experiment. What can I put out? And let's see how it lands. And some of the things I'll do really, really well don't do well at all. And some of the things I'm like, this is nothing, a nothing thing, they do really, really well. So here's the thing, social media is actually not about quality, it's about quantity, which is the opposite of Pilates. But also Brad Bizjack was someone who said, we have the ability to be responsible for things. Brad Crowell 14:51  Is that the Brad he kept referencing? Lesley Logan 14:56  I don't know. Brad Crowell 15:21  Because he referenced Brad multiple times. And I was like, did I say something?Lesley Logan 15:31  Yeah, and I wonder if it's Brad Bizjack, because we'll have to ask him, I don't know. But like, people get pissed off when Brad Bizjack would say, like, the things that happened to you you're responsible for, because we have the ability to respond and it allows you to not be a victim of a situation, and allows you to take ownership and lead the change of what you want to see. So I think that goes for social media, but also for anything you want to do. Brad Crowell 15:53  Well, in this case, what he was talking about was the insurance business. So previous to insurance, he and his partner, I want to, I imagine it was his wife, had they were in the clubs, they were promoting, right? So they had a promoting company, and promoting was all about the hustle, connecting, getting in there, meeting people, socializing, and so they were all over the social media game, because they needed to. If you didn't play that game, you did not succeed in the world of promoting. And then when they started their insurance company, they just transitioned that momentum over to doing insurance. And he said it created a massive leg up for them, because at the time, no one else was doing social media in the insurance game. And they slayed, right? And it really set them up to create that foundation. But all that rolls into what I want to talk about, which was he talked about your personal brand, and it being your reputation online. He said he started off as a pro athlete, and it allowed him to get his foot in the door at a lot of different places because of his reputation. But just because he was a pro athlete didn't mean he had an online personal brand. He said, once he they had established the online brand for himself, for Nick Hiter and then was consistently delivering quality content and creating an audience around it, he said at this point, we could launch any business we want and we could leverage the personal brand and roll it into whatever business we wanted to.Lesley Logan 17:20  JLo has gyms, guys, you know that? She's got gyms, like, what's her name? Goldie Hawn's daughter, she's got clothing. She's got making music. Once you have this reputation, people know and trust, they'll follow anything that you're going to do. Brad Crowell 17:34  Yeah, and we tell all of our clients with agency, hey, focus on one thing first. So if you're going to open a Pilates studio, don't also open a yoga studio and a gym and a thing and a whatever, unless you're happening to roll them all into one and they're marketing it as that one thing. But you have to build that foundation first of the one thing, and then from there, once you've created that notoriety, once you've built that trust, then you can, like, introduce speaking gigs or workshop gigs or other things, or start a podcast or do other things. Speaker 1 18:04  I know we meet people all the time, like, I want to have my on-demand membership. I'm going to have a podcast. I want to do a retreat. And I'm like, okay, do you have a team? Do you have money? Because if you don't have both of those things, you can do one of those things very well on your own, but all three not at the same time. Brad Crowell 18:19  Yeah. So with the personal brand, he said, Hey, it's so important to take it seriously. Pretend your personal brand is a company. He said, when life gets busy, it's most often the thing that takes a back seat, and at the end of the day, it is the foundation for anything else that you want to do down the road. So he talked about it the entire show. So it was great. I really appreciated it. He said, It's a commitment. Put your personal brand on a level of importance, just like other things in your life, like family, kids, business. Speaker 1 18:47  I mean, I think that's a, and here's the thing, it's like, do you know what your priorities are? Because I think most people say their priorities are the growth of their business and their family and their kids and their whatever. And then when you look at their schedule, you see it's answering emails, paying the bills, going grocery shopping, so like, make sure that your priorities are really in your schedule, and you can make that commitment. Brad Crowell 19:10  Yeah, love it. Stick around. We're gonna cover those Be It Action Items in just a sec. Brad Crowell 19:13  All right. So finally, let's talk about those, Be It Action Items. What bold, executable, intrinsic or targeted action items can we take away from your convo with Nick Hiter? He said, "Everything you do has got to be done on purpose. The difference between major league pitcher and the little league pitcher is the size target they can hit. The more specific you are with the targets and your goals, the better chances you have of hitting them." Nick explained, he actually had a ton of metaphors and a lot of quotes. I was joking with Lesley earlier, and I said, I think that if you live in Nashville, like when you move in, they just give you a book of quotes because all the Nashville guys that we interview, they rattle off quotes. It's really impressive because they're totally applicable for the moment. But I'm like, I don't have that in my what is, I need more, I need quotes from Wayne Gretzky like he quoted at the very end. He said, you don't win the championship by accident, you choose it, and that was the goal that you wanted. So you do the work. In fact, the quote he said was just the Gretzky quote is, "You win the game before you even step on the ice." Right? And I was like, wow. Mindset, powerful confidence. I've got this. That's amazing to me. I mean, everything you do has got to be on purpose. So love it. What about you? Lesley Logan 20:27  Well, more quotes. He quoted Bruce Lee. Brad Crowell 20:30  He did. He also quoted Bruce Lee. Lesley Logan 20:31  By the way, I did a Bruce Lee exercise today in my Pilates session, because this other guy from Korea did it and I was like, and my teacher, Ken, was like, oh, Lesley, you could do that. And I was like, I, I'm gonna do it, obviously. And you know what, guys, I hadn't done it in like, 10 years, and I fucking did it. Brad Crowell 20:31  Nice. Lesley Logan 20:47  So we're channeling Bruce Lee today. Brad Crowell 20:49  We're channeling.Lesley Logan 20:50  He said, "You're casting spells on yourself with the words that you say." So when people ask Nick how he's doing, his response is, "I'm unstoppable."Brad Crowell 20:58  I'm unstoppable. Talk about an amazing response. Lesley Logan 21:02  Yes, I'm unstoppable. And by the way, it does make me think of Cafe Gratitude. It's like, I'm gonna honor the unstoppable bowl. And when they bring it to you, they're like, you are unstoppable.Brad Crowell 21:12  I mean, I made this decision a long time ago. When people ask me, what do I say? Lesley Logan 21:17  I'm amazing. Brad Crowell 21:17  I'm amazing. Yeah. Lesley Logan 21:19  You probably should stop saying when people say, what are you up to? You have to stop saying, "Drugs."Brad Crowell 21:23  Oh, maybe I have to stop saying drugs. Brad Crowell 21:25  You are casting a spell on yourself. Brad Crowell 21:26  That's been my quote for 25 years or my joke for 25 years. Lesley Logan 21:28  I know and people don't think that. They don't know that you're joking. They think that you're serious. Brad Crowell 21:32  So, what do you do? I used to just say drugs. Lesley Logan 21:34  Yeah. What do you do for a living? It's like, drugs. And like, they just stop, now, because they, now peopleBrad Crowell 21:40  Yeah, now they're like, can, can you? Is he? Lesley Logan 21:41  Well, because now so many drugs are legal, they think it's true. So like, you gotta, you have to come up with something better, because you're casting spells on yourself, and it's not good. Okay. He says at enough times he actually believes that everything takes repetition. And he talked about when people ask most people say, "I'm good." And he said, "Well, guess what? That's all you're gonna be." I'm good. I was like, oh, I don't want to just be good. I'll be fucking amazing. Brad Crowell 22:05  Yeah, I want to be unstoppable. Lesley Logan 22:07  Yeah, yeah. So, you know, everyone, just start looking up different—are those adjectives? What's unstoppable? Is that a verb? Brad Crowell 22:12  I have no idea.Lesley Logan 22:12  Is it an adverb? You guys, I cheated all through English class, so I'm just gonna tell you right now. I will never know. Sometimes I don't really know the differences semicolon and a colon. So. Brad Crowell 22:12  It's an adjective. Lesley Logan 22:14  It's an adjective. Well, look at me. I was around the first I should have just trusted myself. I should just had the confidence to just go, "It's an adjective." At any rate, you guys just look up adjectives and then pull out five that strike your fancy and try them on and say them enough times—you'll believe them. I'm Lesley Logan. Brad Crowell 22:46  And I'm Brad Crowell. Lesley Logan 22:46  Thank you so much for listening to us today. This is amazing. In this episode, Jane Ostler talks to Kantar's Rob Wade about how brands must Find New Space, the third Growth Accelerator in the Blueprint for Brand Growth. They discuss the strategic exploration of incremental opportunities beyond a brand's current market. It involves identifying new categories, occasions, or services where a brand can extend its reach. For example, San Pellegrino, known for sparkling water, successfully ventured into flavoured soft drinks in cans, demonstrating a creative way to find new spaces without cannibalising existing sales. Another example is Lurpak Butter, which capitalised on advertising to amplify existing uses, such as cooking with butter instead of oil, thereby expanding the category. Premiumisation, like Baileys Chocolate Lux, and appealing to price-conscious consumers, as seen with Netflix's ad-supported tier, are also strategies brands use to innovate and grow. The key is to ensure that innovations are incremental and align with the brand's existing motivations and contexts to mitigate risks and increase the likelihood of success. To find out more, visit kantar.com/blueprint Hosted on Acast. Jane Ostler talks to Kantar's Paul Murphy about the second Growth Accelerator of the Blueprint for Brand Growth, Be More Present, focusing on optimising marketing investments across product range, distribution, pricing, and promotions. Paul Murphy highlights Nike's strategy of balancing digital and physical retail presence to meet diverse consumer needs. The importance of omnichannel presence is emphasised, with examples like Harry's, a men's razor company, expanding from online subscriptions to physical retail partnerships. They also discuss the significance of range in attracting different buyers, using Heinz Beans' various formats and variants as an example. Paul and Jane warn against over-reliance on price promotions, suggesting a focus on price pack architecture instead. The discussion extends to the role of digital presence and retail media, noting the increasing use of retail data for targeted marketing. They also stress the need for brands to be consistently findable online and in-store to capture all potential sales. To find out more, visit kantar.com/blueprint Hosted on Acast. Jane Ostler talks to Kantar's Adele Joliffe about the first Growth Accelerator in the Blueprint for Brand Growth. Brands need to Predispose More People to increase the probability of purchase, and this can be measured through Demand Power and Pricing Power. Adele highlights the importance of predisposition in both acquiring new customers and retaining existing ones, emphasising that it is not a guarantee of loyalty but rather a spectrum, where the goal is to strengthen and scale predisposition among as many individuals as possible.Examples from various sectors, including grocery retail and streaming video, show successful strategies in building predisposition, such as M&S Food's seasonal advertising and Netflix's low churn rate due to high equity. The conversation also covers the role of media, creative content, and experiences in amplifying a brand's meaningful difference, with digital ads evoking stronger emotions being particularly effective. Overall, predisposition is presented as a multifaceted concept that, when leveraged effectively, can significantly enhance a brand's market position. To find out more, visit kantar.com/blueprint Hosted on Acast. Matt is a Physical Therapist turned entrepreneur! He started online cosching in 2015 before starting Physical Therapy school at Duke.  As he approached graduation for Physical Therapy School, he realized that working as an in-person Physical Therapist was going to limit his potential impact on the world and was going to keep him working 9-5 in the same city... and he wanted to travel.By this time, he had been coaching online for 4 years and knew that building an online business was going to allow him have a big impact while giving him the "time and financial freedom" he was looking for.He didn't know how to get more leads and grow his business...Prior to this point, he was getting clients from word of mouth referral, and he had NO online presenceNo social media following... No website... No plan besides "just post every day"...And after "posting everyday" he was left with a giant "0" in new sales for 3 months in a rowHe was frustrated and started looking for other optionsHe stumbled across the concept of "sales funnels" and "paid advertising"...At first he was extremely nervous as he had heard "it was risky" and "he should focus on organic first"Even though others were telling him to wait... he gave it a shot... and he sure was glad he did!Within 90 days, his business doubled. This led Dr. Matt to developing the "Coach's Growth Accelerator" to provide the skills and tools he has been using over the last 7 years working online to more coaches who want to have a bigger impact.Dr. Matt has help companies scale beyond the 7-figure mark, have multiple 6-figure launches, and even helped several newer coaches exceed the $10,000/mo mark within 6 weeks of working together.Purchase my new album here:https://allisonpelot.bandcamp.com/album/high-vibe-thriving-2Connect with Matt here!Website:  https://mattshiver.comInstagram: @drmattshiverPurchase Finally Thriving Here! Are you comfortable with the number of doors you have in your property management business right now? Are you comfortable with the amount of tasks you have on your to-do list? You can be comfortable, OR you can be winning.  In this week's podcast episode, property management growth expert Jason Hull explores the concept of the comfortable PM entrepreneur and the winning PM entrepreneur. You'll Learn… [01:20] What does it mean to be comfortable in your business? [03:31] Growing and moving toward the Four Reasons [06:37] How to become the WINNING property manager [14:04] Making big shifts and hitting big goals [16:44] The things you will gain from being a winning entrepreneur [21:44] How to step into being uncomfortable Tweetables “You are not meant to be mediocre. You're not meant to be the comfortable property manager. You're meant to be the winning property management entrepreneur.” “You're going to need to step into the pain, step into the fear, step into all the stuff you've been avoiding, the discomfort, and take a risk.” “A business should give you more freedom, but most business owners have less freedom than employees have often.” “If there's anything that's been on your to-do list for more than a month, it's because you're not the person that should be doing it.” Resources DoorGrow and Scale Mastermind DoorGrow Academy DoorGrow on YouTube DoorGrowClub DoorGrowLive TalkRoute Referral Link Transcript [00:00:00] You know, you're the comfortable pm, ironically, if you have a to-do list that just keeps getting bigger each month instead of smaller.I often say this: if there's anything that's been on your to-do list for more than a month, it's because you're not the person that should be doing it. [00:00:15] All right, we are live. Welcome everybody to the #DoorGrowShow. If you are a property management entrepreneur that wants to add doors, make a difference, increase revenue, help others, impact lives, and you're interested in growing in business and life, and you're open to doing things a bit differently, then you are a DoorGrow, hacker. DoorGrow Hackers love the opportunities, daily variety, unique challenges, and freedom that property management brings. Many in real estate think you're crazy for doing it. You think they're crazy for not because you realize that property management is the ultimate, high trust gateway to real estate deals, relationships, and residual income. At DoorGrow, we are on a mission to transform property management business owners and their businesses. We want to transform the industry, eliminate the bs, build awareness, change perception, expand the market, and help the best property management entrepreneurs win. I'm your host, property management growth expert, Jason Hull, the founder and CEO of DoorGrow. Now let's get into the show. [00:01:20] So what are we going to talk about today? I think I want to talk a little bit today about the difference between being a comfortable property management entrepreneur and a winning property management entrepreneur. So, last week I talked a little bit-- and I recommend you go check that episode out-- I talked about the drifting versus the driven, so I want to expand a little bit on that and let's talk about... you might be that comfortable property manager or that comfortable property management business owner because really you might identify right now as a property manager. You think, "I'm a property manager," and I think that's a mistake if you are the business owner, if this is your business. You are a business owner. A property manager is the technician level worker in a property management business. They do the work. Right. You might be an owner of a bakery, but if you're the baker, you are the employee. You are the key technician in that business. [00:02:13] If you are a property manager in a property management business, you are the key technician in that business doing the technical work, meaning you're not the owner. An owner has a business and they hire a property manager, right? So right now you may identify as a property manager and you may also be somewhat comfortable, and really that might mean you're comfortable being uncomfortable. Like you're in a certain level of discomfort, right? Maybe you're not getting on doors quick enough. Maybe the lead gen is not working as well as you wanted to. Maybe you're not closing as many deals as you would like and bringing on new clients. Maybe you know behind the scenes that you're delivery and fulfillment stuff and operations, it's not really well dialed in. Like it's not as good as you are selling everybody on it being and maybe your financial stuff is just not really tight.  [00:03:04] You know, you've got financial issues, financial problems. You're not bringing in enough money. Maybe you're not clear. Cash flow is an issue. Maybe it's getting really expensive to pay out your team members. You're trying to figure it out. These are all solvable problems in the business, but you're kind of comfortable, which is why it's gotten to the point that it is, and you haven't changed it yet. And until it gets painful enough, uncomfortable enough, you're probably not going to change it, and my goal as a coach in working with my clients is to either help them get so much of what they want, that it becomes uncomfortable-- so we had one of our clients, really sharp client. He's doubled his doors in his business since starting with us, and it's gotten really uncomfortable for him. It's painful. And he was talking about the pain of that on the call, and I wanted to use him as an example to other people.  [00:03:59] Like, "Hey, we can get the growth going very easily and once we get it going, it'll be uncomfortable and that's the next problem, the new problem we want all of you to experience." And I was like, "How many of you by show of raise of hands, by show of hands would love to have the problem that he's having right now? That he's got so many doors coming on that it's getting painful," and everybody's hands went up, right? So, I want all of you to experience that kind of pain and that kind of problem as well. And that's really the crux of running a business, that a business is a eternal problem worth solving. No business is ever perfect. No business is ever done. You ramp up lead gen and you ramp up sales... delivery and fulfillment will experience constraints. You start to build out that backend. You hire a bunch of people, you are maybe kind of top heavy when it comes to staffing. You now need to feed that beast more and get more sales, right? [00:04:48] And so all these functions in the business are always in flux. There's always a juggle. Your business is never done. It's never perfect. It's never finished. And it should be fun, right? We've talked about this on multiple episodes- the four reasons: fulfillment, freedom, contribution, support, and then that fifth reason of safety and certainty, and this is what all of you want. This is why we think we want money is really, we want money because it can give us those things if we use it the right way, but a lot of you make more and more money and you just make your life harder and harder and harder. You just keep doing more and more of the stuff you don't really enjoy doing in your own business. So I'm going to ask you this. Like right now, if you know you're the comfortable pm instead of the winning pm-- you're the comfortable property management entrepreneur if you don't like accounting, but you're still doing accounting-- if you don't love it-- if you don't love doing the sales and you're still doing the sales, if you don't love the operations and the details and the nitty gritty, but you're the one that that sits on the shoulders of. You know, you're the comfortable pm, ironically, if you have a to-do list that just keeps getting bigger each month instead of smaller. [00:06:05] I often say this: if there's anything that's been on your to-do list for more than a month, it's because you're not the person that should be doing it. All the fun stuff, the stuff that gives you freedom and fulfillment and the sense of contribution and support, you have already gotten those things done. It wouldn't sit on your to-do list for that long typically, but that's the leftover stuff. The stuff you really don't want to do. You're avoiding. You're procrastinating until it becomes so painful, you have to focus on it. And then you "hi-ho" over. "Woo, I'm going to solve this problem."  [00:06:37] I want this to be your old identity, this comfortable pm and I want you to destroy this. Like it has to die if you want to be the winning pm. Let's talk about the winning property manager. The winning property manager is living according to those four reasons, and they have the fifth reason, but this means that they love their day to day. They have a sense of fulfillment. They enjoy getting to do what they're doing. They would do it-- what they're doing each day for free for fun. I would do what I do for free for fun. Coaching clients, helping clients win, this kind of stuff is fun for me. Learning... the stuff that I get to do in my business is fun for me. The first is fulfillment. The second thing is freedom. Like, you want to feel free rather than feeling damned or stuck or like uncomfortable... freedom, you want freedom. A business should give you more freedom, but most business owners have less freedom than employees have often. And then if you have freedom and fulfillment, you're going to get bored if you aren't making a difference in the world. You're going to want to go out and change some lives. You're going to want to give other people that you're going to want to benefit your team. You're going to start to care about other people because you've got your own needs taken care of. You want to make a difference in the world. [00:07:52] You want to benefit your clients, you want to benefit the tenants, you want to benefit your staff and your team, you want to benefit your family. That feels like winning, right? You've got those things and that means you've got great support. So you're building support around yourself and you're able to support those around you, and that is a winning property management entrepreneur. I want you to have that identity. I want you to feel what that feels like because it feels good to be winning. It feels good to be making a difference in the world. It feels good to be able to feel good about yourself. Come on, right? You know, I've been the comfortable business owner. I've been the comfortable business owner. You know, even fairly recently in my journey, I went back into that, like I went through a divorce, which was rough. I was the one that ended the relationship. There was a lot of stuff that caused me to feel I needed to do that, and that was really hard. You know, without going into the details, you know, I was put into situations that were really painful for me. And she probably felt similarly, right? And so I ended that relationship, and that was hard. It was hard. Getting back into dating, that was kind of tough, you know, at my age, you know, figuring it out. That was hard. And then in the business for a little while, I coasted. I was like, I've got so much going on. I'm trying to figure out how to take care of my kids. I got comfortable because I wanted to explore other things like dating and like figuring out relationships again, and like all this stuff. But eventually I got bored of all that. I got bored of the dating thing. I gave up on that. [00:09:22] And then I met Sarah. We're getting married in November. We've been dating for a lengthy while and she's my fiance and we're getting married in November. And those people tend to turn up right when we're kind of fed up, and we're done looking. And and, you know, that spark reignited in focusing on my business. I'm like, "I want to revamp and change everything. I want to start doing new programs. I'm getting into working with new coaches. I felt alive again. And that's our natural state. Our natural state is to be alive. I've always been this way. I've always been reinventing myself and learning new things and absorbing new information, and I'm sure a lot of you are like that. That's the entrepreneurial visionary sort of state. That's where we feel alive is when we're in that momentum. And we're, we feel like we're growing. We're growth minded individuals, but to step into that, there's always going to be some fear. Always.  [00:10:20] You are the hero in your own story. If you're life were a movie, you are the protagonist. You're the hero in your story. The people that are watching your story, you getting to watch your story at the end of your life, like you will know you're the hero in your story. And what would that hero do? Like if you were watching this movie, what would you want them to do? You get to write this story and you don't want to sit there and watch yourself just comfortable. That comfort is poison, and I hope it gets painful enough that you decide, "Hey, I want more than this. I want to take on my life. I want to make a difference. I want to do something with myself." And you're tired of the business being mediocre. You're tired of the business having the same problems year after year. You need to get fed up with the sameness. You need to get fed up with it because I'm calling you out onto this journey, just like I did on the previous episode. I'm calling you out, like, I want you to step into your greatness and step into this journey, and I want you to absorb this key idea that you need to step into this new identity. If you had the business of your dreams, that would mean you have become the person that could run that. And so what that means is this: one of my mentors said this. He said, if you don't have the business of your dreams, it's because you're not yet the person that can run it yet. You're not that person yet. So who would you have to become in order to have the business of your dreams?  [00:11:44] You would have to become a more powerful person, a more knowledgeable person, a person that knows acquisition strategies or how to get more doors. A person that knows how to sell a person that knows how to optimize your pricing in your business. A person that knows whether or not their branding is impacting their business or not and how to optimize that. A person that knows whether their website is effective or not. We're going to take you through-- in our program, that's what we do is we first clean up all those leaks in your sales pipeline, and then we stack the acquisition strategies, and then after that, we get you into the systems that you're going to need to build out for your business. You need at least six major systems in your business in order for this business to be scale. And here's the secret, I want you to understand this, a lot of you have gotten comfortable partially because you see future pain on the horizon. You see, like, "once I get to 250 doors," or "if I got to a thousand doors" or whatever, "I know how uncomfortable I am right now," because you're in a state of comfortable discomfort. You're comfortable being uncomfortable. It's the maximum amount of discomfort you are willing to tolerate and be comfortable with. That's where you're at right now.  [00:12:50] Your perception then unconsciously, is that growth would be even more painful. "If I added twice as many doors, it would be twice as painful as it is right now." and that doesn't have to be true. The more doors you add, the more resources you add, the easier it can get, the better your life can get, the less you have to do, the less you do in the business in your role. You get to do more of the few things that you really enjoy doing. And so as you grow and scale, believe me, property managers that have a thousand doors and they build their team in business the right way, their business, their day to day is calm. They love it. They enjoy what they get to do, but you could be at 50 doors or even a hundred doors and hate your life and be miserable and not be very profitable, and it to be very uncomfortable. So at any stage, it can be painful or it can be comfortable. And so my goal is sometimes I have to get people uncomfortable in order for them to go to that next level and chase comfort again and get to that next level where they are now at a higher level as an entrepreneur. So I want to turn you into the entrepreneur that can have the business of your dreams.  [00:14:04] So we've hit kind of a milestone consistently in our monthly revenue, which places us in the stage of being a multimillion dollar company, which is awesome. Like I'm really excited about that in our company, and of course we have a lot of expenses in our business at that stage. So, you know, a multimillion dollar company doesn't mean the business owner gets millions of dollars necessarily, right? Because there's costs, and all of you that are business owners get this. But a lot of times our team members or people watching entrepreneurs go, "Ooh, they have a million dollar company, man, it must be nice to be a millionaire," and I'm sure those of you listening are laughing. You're like, "Yeah, I used to think that way, but now that I run a business, I realize it's probably not the case. In fact, million dollar businesses usually, some of the business owners are making very little, a lot of times because their operational costs are really high, especially marketing agencies or some of the people that are in circles that I'm around. We've been blessed that I have a really effective team. We're very efficient and we've got some great systems in place. I have a great operator. Sarah is our operations person, our COO, and we have a profitable, healthy business, which is great. I appreciate that and I really value my team for that, and it allows me to spend the time doing the things I really enjoy doing. [00:15:15] So I want you to get out of this pain maybe out of some of these negative emotions and understand this truth of these four reasons, plus that fifth of safety and certainty. Safety and certainty comes when you have your processes documented. You have great team members... like you feel safe in your business. Eventually you'll get to other levels of that when you get to, maybe seven figure or higher business, or you're a million dollar business you know, multimillion dollar company or whatever, you're going to start doing things like asset protection and wealth building stuff, you know, different tax strategies. This is how the ultra wealthy don't pay taxes. There's going to be levels to the safety certainty that it creates around you, and that gives us even greater freedom to go out into the marketplace and take risks and do things when we have that behind us. [00:16:03] And so I want to help you shift and if you understand this framework of the four reasons, then you can be this empowered winning property management entrepreneur, you can be somebody that is consistently moving closer and closer to that goal of your unique version of these four reasons, and you're loving your day to day. You are making a difference in the world. You feel a sense of freedom. You're free to make choices. You're free to take vacations. You're free to buy your wife some sort of nice gift or your husband some sort of nice gift, right? You're not constantly limited by some sort of stress or worry or constraint in your life. And you will start to see tangible, measurable outcomes. You will see your team members start to align with those four reasons once you have. You can have team members that are experiencing those benefits as well. They will experience more freedom and fulfillment because you're finally in alignment, which means you're not building the wrong team around this fake person, the fake business owner, the fake person that pretends that they are a leader in the business, but they're spending most of their time doing stuff they don't enjoy. That's a fake leader. It's a real business owner, but a fake leader, and people don't want to follow that person. So you're not going to have great team members if you are not happy, They're not going to be happy, and I want you to be happy. Because if you're happy and your team's happy, your owners will be happy, tenants will be more happy, and if tenants are happy and owners are happy and you're happy and your team are happy, that's a great ripple effect that's going to make a difference in the world. [00:17:38] All right, so a lot of you are thinking, "Well, Jason, this all sounds so too good to be true. If it were that easy, everybody would be doing it. " And I think it's simple. It may not be easy to figure out, but it's simple. And once I explain some of these frameworks, once I showcase things to clients, once I help them understand the secrets to all these different areas or different blind spots or different leaks, then property managers, entrepreneurs, they can see these leaks, they can see these blind spots. And then when you can see these problems, you're going to want to solve them. That's what you do as an entrepreneur. When you can see a problem, it'll annoy you. It'll bother the heck out of you, and you will get that problem solved. And so we help you see the problem, and then we give you the roadmaps for how to solve these problems. And that's the fun of running a business, is knowing which problems need to be worked on, having that clarity, and being able to move it forward and seeing the business progress and seeing it grow, you have to grow as a result. Russell Brunson at the FunnelHacking Live conference, which I mentioned on the previous episode, said, "God tricks us into benefiting people by starting a business. On the journey to making more money, he tricks us into starting a business that benefits other human beings," because a real business solves real problems in the marketplace. At first, you're probably like, "I just want to make money," or "I just want to make ends meet, then I want to make money." [00:19:01] But eventually you're like, I want to make a difference. And eventually you realize to make money and to make a difference, you have to solve real problems in the marketplace. That's a real business. You're not going to get referrals. You're not going to get new clients. You're not going to get return clients unless you are making that difference and solving real problems in the marketplace. That's what a business does. Otherwise, you're snake oil, right? You're a thief. Right? You need to solve real problems. And I'll tell you this, like solving real problems is super rewarding. It feels really good to change people's lives, to benefit people. That's why we do what we do at DoorGrow. We love that feeling. I get to hear from people on calls every week sharing their wins, sharing how we change their life. One of the clients posted this in one of our groups and said, "Thanks for putting so much gold in front of us, that it's improbable to eat it in one bite," and he said, "Words from my wife 'I wish you would've found DoorGrow two years ago.' she speaks the truth," is what one of our clients, Will Frasier said. We hear that a lot, like, "I wish we'd found DoorGrow several years ago. I wish we had found DoorGrow before," and if you haven't really found us, which means you haven't come on board as a client, you haven't really talked to our sales team, you don't really know what we could do for you. [00:20:22] You're kind of thinking, "Well, maybe it's similar to where everybody else is doing," you really should check us out. And you'll probably be that person saying, "Man, I wish I had stepped into that earlier." I wanted to share kind of this sort of journey from the comfortable PM to the winning pm and that journey is, you're going to need to step into the pain, step into the fear, step into all the stuff you've been avoiding, the discomfort, and take a risk. It's a risk. And God or the universe may have to put you in a position that becomes so painful that you're like, "I'm finally willing to do something because I'm losing too many doors right now," or "I want to take this next level," or "I'm just fed up with eating, you know, pork and beans every night, or ramen," you know, whatever it is. Like you want to get to the next level. We want to help you get there. And I want you to be the winning property manager. You are not meant to be mediocre. You're not meant to be the comfortable property manager. You're meant to be the winning property management entrepreneur. You are meant to be that. You're meant to be getting positive outcomes. You're meant to be feeling and experiencing positive emotions. You're meant to be a leader. You're meant to have a amazing team. Anybody can have an amazing team. You just need to know what people that have amazing teams know. You just need to know those frameworks. And then you can have an amazing team that doesn't frustrate you and annoy you and you don't have high turnover.  [00:21:44] So I'm inviting you, I'm challenging you to step in and experience that. And to just quickly pitch our program and our offer: we have our DoorGrow and scale Mastermind. It's an amazing program. It's the culmination of lots of stuff that we've learned. We are bringing in all sorts of experts, the best in the industry. Just, there's a lot of value in the program. But some of our major programs: we have our Rapid Revamp. So if you have any lead flow in your business whatsoever, but you've never really had taken a harsh look at your branding, your pricing, your sales process, your website, this whole sales pipeline, this is something that we are going to take you through, usually in the first 90 days of working with us in the Mastermind, that will completely transform the front end of your business. If you've ever watched Bar Rescue with Jon Taffer or The Profit with Marcus Lemonis, that's me for the property management industry. That's what I do. We transform property management business owners and their businesses. We want to transform you, and we want to transform your business, and that's what we do. We rehab these companies or get them ready, just like you get a property rent ready. We remake, remodel, and revamp. So the Rapid Revamp is this rapid 90 day program that we take you through over the course of like 12 or so weeks, and we're tackling some major issues on a week or maybe a two week basis and getting these things really well dialed in just to clean up your sales pipeline. [00:23:14] After that, or for those who just want to add doors, we have our Growth Accelerator and right now, we have six major things we do. Each one takes about a month. These are six different acquisition vehicles you can build in your business, and none of these cost you advertising dollars. Isn't that amazing? It's not SEO. It's not pay per click like Google Ads. It's not content marketing. It's not social media marketing. It's not pay per lead services. These are all internet marketing. We're avoiding all of that because these people are at the end of the sales cycle and are the shittiest and worst clients. We're focusing on those that you can capture through word of mouth, where you can create warm leads, where you have a 90% close rate instead of a 10% close rate. It takes less time in the sales cycle and sales process, and it takes way less money, and these strategies are really brilliant. We've got our neighbor strategy, our partner strategy. We've got our group prospecting strategy and all these things are things that I've heard of people try to do, or that you may have tried to do, but you're not adding 300 doors in a year from just one strategy like some of our clients. You don't have these things dialed in the way that we psychologically dial these things in, so they're super effective. [00:24:24] And so we would love to have some of you join us in that Growth Accelerator that we're doing, and we have a monthly class where we're tackling a major growth engine in the business. And that'll be awesome. You get access to our live events. We're doing one here in October. It's already sold out. Totally sold out already. And we still have-- today's the fifth I'm recording this and it's on the 18th and 19th and it's already sold out. And usually we sell the most tickets, like just in the last week or two before an event. That's pretty typical. But we're already sold out. So we'll just have to plan for a bigger spot and bigger venue the next time. Our next one's going to be in May, people. So make sure you are ready for that and you get your tickets early for that. But we sold out. And so we've got the live in-person events. We also have organized our mastermind into tribes. These are like groups of friends where you get to connect with people. We have a monthly tribe meeting that you get in your, with your tribe and at the events you get to go out to lunch and hang out with your tribe. People love the tribes, and it's really cool. So we've got these small groups we call tribes and we named them all gemstones. We've got like tanzanite and sapphire and ruby and amethyst and whatever. We've got these different tribes for our roughly a hundred businesses. And we've divided them up into like five tribes. So we've got these tribes.  [00:25:38] Also, we have planning meetings where we're going through and doing better than EOS, DoorGrow OS-style planning, and we're building out the planning operating system cadence. We're doing your annual planning with you, quarterly planning, monthly planning, etc. and helping you to have strong momentum and clarity on your team. That alone helped me grow my business 300% in a year, people. 300% in a year, just adding that in. And I've worked with the best in the industry when it comes to that stuff, and I've built a system that I believe is the best on the market and we call it DoorGrow OS, which is a culmination of the stuff that I've learned around that. So that's just some of what we're doing. Then we have our Super System. So the Super System is for those that don't need to add doors anymore. You've built that. Like that's a very solvable and easy to solve problem, I really believe, and we can solve that for our clients and create that pain like our client I was telling you about earlier on today's call. He's had so much growth that it's painful. So the next thing is building out the systems and you need six major systems. [00:26:39] So this is our Super System. It's like the system of systems getting all these systems in place. And each system is probably going to be about a quarter, so about three months, 90 days, to build out a really solid system. We're talking a fully robust process, documentation system, a fully robust planning and accountability system in your business, and financial system in your business, etc. So we've got all these systems that we're going to be building out as part of that, and once you have these systems in place, you'll have a business that you can scale. And our goal is that over the next five years that we're building seven figure businesses that can do seven figure exits. We're building these businesses that can get seven figure exits if they want to, but hopefully because they're in alignment with their dream business and their dream role in the business, and the four reasons that they don't want to, but you have that freedom and that option because the path is the same. So this is kind of our Built to Sell or our DoorGrow and Scale Mastermind that we are focused on. So those are some of the cool things that are in the program. Hopefully that gets some of you pumped up and excited. And our program is really affordable. I mean, I'm not going to say it's cheap, but it's less than it would cost you a team member. On a monthly basis, and it's more value.  [00:27:54] So our goal is to be your cheapest team member that makes you the most money. And you don't just get me. You don't just get a brilliant operator, Sarah, COO and coach, or our client success manager, Ashlee, you're also getting access to other experts in the industry that we're bringing into this mastermind, and you get access to all of other clients that are playing a different game than most property managers. They're winning property managers and you need to be hanging out with winning property managers. You need them in your tribe. You need to be in like a tribe like the Tanzanite Tribe. You need to be winning with other winning property managers, so you are not that comfortable property manager. There's a lot of comfortable property managers, and you may not even be connected to any property managers, but you need to be connected to some winning ones, definitely not the comfortable ones. [00:28:39] So if any of this is interesting to you, reach out, send me a dm. If you're seeing this on my social media, just message me and say, "Hey, Jason." Mike Reid is a skilled entrepreneur and the ideal person to help entrepreneurs stuck in their business growth. He is the co-founder and CEO of Dent Global, a business accelerator best known for helping six to seven-figure founders establish themselves as the go-to person in their industry. He is also the host of the Dichotomy Podcast, which addresses dichotomies leaders face in business. In his career, he has specialized in business growth accelerators and implementation techniques for entrepreneurs. In this episode, he shares the framework to put together joint venture deals and partnerships to help a business grow. Being A Good Professional Does Not Mean Knowing How To Do Business Anyone in a company's leadership role has possibly studied and specialized in the field in which they operate. The business service is delivered based on the intellectual property the business owner owns. But most of those entrepreneurs never really get taught how to build a business, or how to build a brand. Not even how to do specialized marketing for your field. Mike explains that this is a problem. At some point, these entrepreneurs realize the market is getting noisy and more competitive than it's ever been before. Although they have knowledge of the field, they don't have the skills to stay in this very competitive market. Mike's tip is: these founders need to understand what are the key skills they need to develop as a go-to person, or a go-to brand within their industry. Partnerships As A Way To Grow Your Business Mike explains that as human beings, we were trained to think we need to do it on our own and we shouldn't ask for help. This gets in the way of the business mentality, as it is often a partnership that will save you from bad timing in the market. A brilliant entrepreneur is more of a packager than a creator. What we do as entrepreneurs is take bits and pieces of other businesses. When we talk about partnership, we're really talking about putting together joint venture deals - be it strategic partnerships or distribution partnerships. Mike explains this by triangle, as many entrepreneurs probably lack one of these three things: Not enough trust with their audience, or in the marketplace. Maybe the company is excellent at what it does, but it doesn't stand out and differentiate itself, missing the wow factor. The business does not have enough value within your product ecosystem, or the service ecosystem. Potentially, the business lacks a little punch in terms of value. The business does not reach enough, mainly in terms of distribution. Whether your business has any of these issues, the solution is to look for partners. Mike mentions an example: making partnerships for products. Usually, most of those product partners appreciate getting their product in front of a new audience. It is valuable for them and it's valuable for you, because you get to add more value into the ecosystem for your client. How to do efficient partnerships As a final lesson, Mike breaks through one paradigm: the illusion of limited resources in business. If your company is missing something - if you don't have the money, or trust or a great killer product - it's just asking ‘who has it', and how can I partner with them? You've got to go out and pitch for partners to get involved. Remember to only ask partnerships for one element of the three corners of the triangle. Because if you ask for over one third, it feels like a request rather than an opportunity to your partner. If you struggle on how to take the next step to grow your business, partnerships may be the solution. Keep in mind which people you could approach and what element of the triangle they can contribute effectively.
