The obsession with productivity can become a trap—always chasing the next hack, the next milestone, the next proof of progress. At some point, the grind stops being about growth and starts feeling like a cage, where rest feels like failure and busyness replaces real achievement. The irony is that pushing harder doesn't always lead to better results; sometimes, it just leads to burnout. Real success isn't about how much you do—it's about whether what you're doing actually moves you forward.Craig Ballantyne, known as the World's Most Disciplined Man, is an entrepreneur, author, and business coach specializing in personal development and productivity. He created the Turbulence Training fitness system, owns EarlyToRise.com, and wrote The Dark Side of Discipline and The Perfect Day Formula. Today, he talks about the importance of tackling “level 10 problems”—the biggest challenges in life—rather than getting lost in excessive discipline. He explains how rigid routines can sometimes become a distraction from real growth and success. Join in as young leaders pose inquiries about life, personal development, and beyond!Quotes: “Discipline can be your savior up to a point, but there is a fine line where it can turn into your master. Once crossed, it stops serving you, and instead, you find yourself serving it.” – Craig Ballantyne“The ultimate definition of discipline is putting a level 10 effort into your level 10 problem.” – Craig Ballantyne“Make the world play by your rules. Don't play by the world's rules.” – Craig Ballantyne“We often get lost by focusing on how we look, how we're addressed, and how we signal to others. But it's much more about reinforcing who I am. It's not just about being physically comfortable—though that's important—but also about achieving psychological comfort.” – Matt BeaudreauTakeaways:Identify your top 3 level 10 problems and commit to giving them focused, intentional energy this week.Create a personal narrative that sets clear boundaries, helping you say no to requests that don't align with your core values.Check your daily habits: Are you sacrificing great opportunities by getting stuck on good but less impactful activities?Write out your 3-5 year vision with specific details about your ideal life, using it as a filter for making decisions.Spend 30 minutes this week reflecting on your personal identity - what standards define who you are and want to become? Conclusion:Real success comes from setting clear priorities, staying true to personal values, and not letting outside noise dictate your path. Those who learn to say no to distractions and short-term validation can focus on what truly matters. Every decision should reflect a larger vision rather than a reaction to external expectations. The people who achieve the most are the ones who stay disciplined, think long-term, and refuse to be swayed by fleeting pressures.Pre-order Craig's NEW book Here! - The Dark Side of Discipline

In this episode, our guest is Craig Ballantyne. He has something called “Turbulence Training.” He's got a good flow, a good brain, and he's been through a gamut of serving people, literally hundreds of 1000s of people. He served clients from every walk of life.   [7:01] Why should I listen to you? I am the most straight to the point you will ever meet. When I ran Turbulence Training, I also ran this other business called “Early to Rise” which I focus on these days. I started as the world's most productive man. And then a couple of guys said, “To be productive, you have to be disciplined.” So they started calling me the world's most disciplined man. [8:46] When I was younger, I was a binge drinker and weekend frat-boy kind of guy. I got to the point where I don't want to be like that anymore. But it's very difficult to make the right decisions. So I went down this path of figuring out how to make the right decisions automatically, which made me look like the world's most disciplined man.  [10:16] How does the flow structure work? When people get into my coaching program, or they just have a conversation with me, I say, “You have to get in the morning and focus on non-urgent, important work.” I have this little rhyme where I say you got GSD on your MIT ASAP. Get stuff done on your most important task as soon as possible.   [16:37] Talking about the identity aspect, I've written that down to those people who are not taking action, and they have self-esteem. You just have to change that identity. I'm the type of person who takes imperfect action because I know that that's the thing that moves me ahead.  {23:55] A whole new space If someone is new to me and has never heard me and seems like, “Oh, Craig has three books,” and they were going to be which one first, it's this. It's the perfect week formula. You learn how to automate, delegate and eliminate add, automate, delegate, and eliminate better because what most entrepreneurs do is say I will do it myself.  [31:14] Getting things out of your way Just challenge yourself and think I want you to do 15 minutes of work before getting on the bike. If you make 15 minutes first thing in the morning, just get up at the right time for you and then get up a little bit earlier before anybody else gets up. And then go right to work for 15 minutes.  [32:45] It's the same thing with taking advantage of an opportunity. Maybe you have a business opportunity, and maybe you have a course that you're selling, and like your Facebook ads are starting to work. If you get up and spend 15 minutes focused on that, you will get further ahead than somebody who tries to find time in your busy day to do it.   Key Quotes [13:44-14:00] “If you want to have a business, a business needs to be something that you can step away from for three months, six months, 12 months. If you depend on clubhouse for all of your revenue, and it's your main thing, you can't step away from it.” [20:00-20:06] “Take imperfect action because it beats in perfect action, beats perfect inaction every single day.”   Learn more about Craig Ballantyne on: Website: https://www.craigballantyne.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/realcraigballantyne/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClBQyeL63OdkONi5PBDY8Cg Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ttfatloss Twitter: https://twitter.com/craigballantyne?s=20   Early To Rise: https://www.earlytorise.com/

Craig Ballantyne has been the Editor of Early to Rise since 2011. He’s also a Strength & Conditioning coach in Toronto, author of Turbulence Training, a contributing author to Men’s Health magazine, and a member of the Training Advisory Board for Maximum Fitness and Oxygen magazines. Favorite Quote “Success is simple” “First say to yourself what you would be; and then do what you have to do”~Epictietus Key Points 1. The First Mistake You Make in the Morning is Reacting vs. Responding In the mornings, it is so easy to sleep through your alarm, start your morning in a frenzy and get put into a mode of reaction vs. responding. When you start your day this way, the day is already lost, you have already fallen into the trap of reacting to your environment instead of responding to circumstances that you had already planned and prepared for. To beat this, wake up 15 minutes before you have to and focus on your goals. Not one hours, not two hours, just 15 minutes. 15 minutes to allow yourself to focus your intentions for the day and get into peak state. Consider it a gift to yourself, and after a few weeks of this your results and productivity will sky rocket. 2. Do a Brain Dump at the End of the Day As we go on through our days, our brains become cluttered with all sorts of stuff from work, family, personal struggles, past failures, and future worries. At the end of each day, do what is referred to as a brain dump, where you sit and write out everything that is on your mind so that you are no longer mulling over it while you should be present. Doing this will allow you to clear your head and show up fully whenever you are with your family, relaxing at the end of the day, hanging out with friends, or anything else that you decide to do. 3. Create a Vision Statement  One of the most important things that you can do is to decide where you are going and who you want to be and condense this into a mission statement that will remind you of your goals and keep you on track when decision making becomes difficult. By having a vision that you are moving towards, you will stay focused on where you are headed instead of the pain of sacrificing pleasure in the moment for gain in the future. 4. Its not what you can do but what you can avoid doing A significant portion of success is not just knowing what to do, but knowing what to avoid doing. If you can understand your stumbling blocks, the things that cause you to fail and fall, and the distractions that prevent you from achieving at the level that you want to be, then you have won half of the battle. By finding ways to use accountability and leverage to eliminate these distractions entirely, you will boost your productivity, happiness, and success 10 fold over. 5. Create Personal Commandments  In adittion to your vision statement, one of the best ways to add structure and simplicity into your life is to create personal commandments, rules that you follow no matter what that can guide you and make decisions easy. Some examples of personal commandments could be I will not watch porn I will limit alcohol consumption to 3x a week, and never more than 2 drinks a night I will stay faithful to my wife no matter the temptation I will always give 10% of my income to a noble charity I can’t tell you what your commandments should be, but having a list of rules and guidelines that you follow is absolutely essential to becoming the man you want to be. 6. Structure Creates Freedom Throughout much of the interview Craig discusses creating rules and guidelines for your life, and many of you may be turned off by the concept. But what you may not realize is that structure creates freedom. By having rules in place you are free making difficult decisions based solely off of emotion, by having structure in your life, you will increase your success and free time and have more freedom to pursue the things you love and spend time with people that you love. 7. Follow the Law of Action Attraction While many peopele may ascribe to the “Secret’s” law of attraction, Craig suggests the law of action attraction. Basically focus on what you want, create the vision board, write the goals out, say your affirmations, and then take MASSIVE ACTION to achieve those goals. Surround yourself with A+ players, create a mastermind, enlist the help of smarter people to aid you in achieving your goals, and take massive action. Not only will you attract what you want into your life, but you will have taken the proper proportion of action required to ensure that you are ready for it. 8. Before You Start on the Journey Ask If It’s Worth It  Before you start down any journey, you must decide if it’s worth it. You have to have a strong enough reason for doing anything, or you will fail,. Plain and simple. Whether the journey is a new instrument, sport, business, or relationship, ask if it is worth it before you begin and  compare the opportunity to your vision statement and personal commandments

Some examples of personal commandments could be I will not watch adult content I will limit alcohol consumption to 3x a week, and never more than 2 drinks a night I will stay faithful to my wife no matter the temptation I will always give 10% of my income to a noble charity I can't tell you what your commandments should be, but having a list of rules and guidelines that you follow is absolutely essential to becoming the man you want to be. 7. Follow the Law of Action Attraction While many peopele may ascribe to the “Secret's” law of attraction, Craig suggests the law of action attraction. 8. Before You Start on the Journey Ask If It's Worth It  Before you start down any journey, you must decide if it's worth it. You have to have a strong enough reason for doing anything, or you will fail,. Plain and simple. Whether the journey is a new instrument, sport, business, or relationship, ask if it is worth it before you begin and  compare the opportunity to your vision statement and personal commandments

On today’s show, I’m joined by my friend Craig Ballantyne, who was actually one of my original mentors. I started following Craig and his work way back in 2010, which seems like forever in the online world and when I was trying to figure the online business world out, I went to a few of Craig’s workshops. Since then I’ve connected more with him and have really gotten to know him much better. Craig used to be in the fitness space with his brand Turbulence Training, and then he started a brand called Internet Independence. Since then Craig’s gone through a big shift in his business and he is now the owner of the popular website, EarlyToRise.com. Most recently Craig’s published a book called The Perfect Day Formula. He now teaches people how to have a more productive day in both their business and personal lives. He does in-person Perfect Day Workshops, where participants get to spend the day with him and then get follow-up accountability and coaching for 12 months. This investment starts at $5,000 and he’s sold over $500,000 worth of these packages using Instagram stories, which he’ll talk about in this episode. We cover a lot here and I ask Craig to share the lessons he’s learned from his own entrepreneurial journey because he’s done so many things over the years. He shares why he thinks that Instagram direct messages are the “new email list”, his tips for having more engaging Instagram Stories, and ways that you can specifically track how you’re doing with them. He also reveals how you can expand your network if you have “introverted tendencies”, overcoming anxiety as an entrepreneur and his #1 productivity tip for entrepreneurs.  You’re also going to hear why Craig did this interview with his eyes closed, which you won’t want to miss. Want to win a 30-minute strategy session with me? On the Show Today You’ll Learn:   How Craig started internet marketing – including how he would send 3,000 emails out manually using Hotmail The way he’s able to put out so much content consistently and how his marketing has evolved and shifted The amazing story of how Craig bought Early to Rise… Why Instagram is strictly a business platform him and how he uses it much like email marketing The Instagram framework and strategies that have allowed him to sell $500,000 in packages with a following of 13,000 people there     How he uses testimonials from customers, the importance of a strong CTA and so much more!

After having a conversation with my guest, Craig Ballantyne, it’s hard to believe that he once struggled with crippling anxiety despite living “the life.” It’s what he likes to call the “paradox of freedom.” He had the freedom, but was still trapped when it came to having panic attacks. Sometimes his attacks came out of nowhere and other times they were predictable (drinking excessive amounts of caffeine or alcohol). He knew it was time to do something about them, however, when he had an anxiety attack for nearly six weeks straight.   Having since gotten a handle around his anxiety, Craig now enjoys sharing his story to help others work through theirs. And because we talk a lot about gratitude in this podcast, I love that one of his biggest tips is practicing gratitude and helping others daily.   Craig’s transparency in this interview is invaluable and I hope that if you or someone you know suffer from anxiety that you discover some helpful tools to help you control them moving forward.     --   Question Highlights: What was your upbringing like and how did it lead to your success and the epic knowledge you have today? What did you do to overcome your anxiety/panic attacks? Have you seen a trend among your clients of anxiety holding them back? How have you done well in both personal training and business? What is The Perfect Day Formula? Do you find that you have clients who sacrifice happiness at home for a thriving business? What would be better to start with – your book or The Perfect Day Kit? What role has generosity played in your success? What is one of your all-time favorite moments of giving? And more…   In This Episode You Will Learn:   How Craig overcame is struggle with anxiety and panic attacks Why anxiety is like a black box How gratitude, generosity and helping others has aided Craig in coping with anxiety Why we shouldn’t suffer in silence The importance of having good mentors Why you must figure out what moves you ahead toward your legacy in life – professionally and personally How the Three Cs help you establish rules for your life How your values drive anything you do Why it’s essential to prioritize your values And so much more…   Craig’s Thoughts…   “Everything is a learnable skill.”   “At the root of anxiety is self-doubt.”   “Admitting a weakness is a strength.”   “It wasn’t the law of attraction; it was the law of action attraction.”   “You can attract great opportunity into life when you do the work.”   “Control what you can. Cope with what you can’t. Concentrate on what counts.”   “When your actions are misaligned with your goals it causes internal stress in us.”   “If you want to do great things, you have to do fewer things.”   -- Author, trainer and coach, Craig Ballantyne is a Productivity & Success Transformation Coach from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He is the author of The Perfect Day Formula: How to Own the Day and Control Your Life — and his brand-new book, The Great Cardio Myth, debunks all the untruths you've been told about cardio being a silver bullet for weight loss and heart health. Craig has been a contributor to Men's Health magazine since 2000, and his articles have also appeared in Women’s Health, Oxygen, GQ, Maxim, National Geographic, Men’s Fitness and Muscle and Fitness Hers, amongst many others. His articles have also been featured on Inc.com, LifeHacker.com, and Telegraph.co.uk. In 2001, he created the popular home workout program, Turbulence Training, and in 2013 he created the Home Workout Revolution bodyweight exercise program. Over 100,000 men and women have used his 6 Minutes to Skinny weight loss system since 2014.  Craig is also the founder of the Certified Turbulence Training Program, certifying trainers from all corners of the globe. He holds an annual Turbulence Training Summit for fitness experts to become better trainers and get more clients so they make more money and live the Perfect Life. Craig has had to overcome many obstacles on his journey to success, and his toughest battle was fighting crippling anxiety attacks. He finally discovered how to beat them with his 5 Pillars of Transformation, and today Craig shows men and women how to use the 5 Pillars to do everything from losing 10 to 75 pounds, getting a raise and making more money, to finding the love of their life, and overcoming any obstacle in the way of success.   Resources:   Email: craig@godfather.com   http://craigballantyne.com IG: @realcraigballantyne Twitter: @realcraigballantyne   --   For more stories and tips on becoming unapologetically wealthy, follow me @Chriswharder on Instagram and check out fortheloveofmoney.com.

Actual Anarchy Podcast - AnCap Movie Reviews from a Rothbardian Perspective

In what could become a string of Arnold movies that we do in coming months, we take on the dystopian-nightmare in the post-economic collapse world of 2017 to discuss the Stephen King inspired film, the Running Man. The movie is right up our alley as an anti-authoritarian message that shows the propaganda and entertainment that is pushed to maintain control over the masses. Get strapped into your metal-under-the-city-bobsled and journey with us into the arena. In the year 2019, America is a totalitarian state where the favorite television program is "The Running Man" -- a game show in which prisoners must run to freedom to avoid a brutal death. Having been made a scapegoat by the government, an imprisoned Ben Richards (Arnold Schwarzenegger) has the opportunity to make it back to the outside again by being a contestant on the deadly show, although the twisted host, Damon Killian (Richard Dawson), has no intention of letting him escape. It's a fun popcorn flick with peak Schwarzenegger and one of the worst villains (on a scale of corny-ness) in cinematic film history: Dynamo Here is an article reflecting on the technology on display 30 years after the movies was made (and in which it is set at the very beginning): http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/features/the-violent-post-truth-2017-predicted-in-the-running-man-we-re-living-in-it-a7506776.html Wikipedia entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Running_Man_(1987_film) If you too are inspired by Arnie to start working out again, check out Turbulence Training at: www.ReadRothbard.com/TT Here is the interview we did with the Battle for Liberty: www.battleforliberty.com/39 Thank you for joining us on this episode of the Actual Anarchy Podcast. Would you like to have a perfect day?  How would you spend your perfect day?  Craig Ballantyne is a productivity & Success Transformation Coach from my hometown, Toronto, Canada and the author of The Perfect Day Formula: How to Own the Day and Control Your Life.   He has been contributing to Men's Health magazine since 2000, and in 2001, and is the founder of the famous home workout program, Turbulence Training.   But before we get to this awesome collaboration, let's run through some housekeeping matters.   If you are new here, Hello and welcome!   This is THE place dedicated to purpose-driven individuals and passionate creators. We are all about learning how to create greater impact and interviewing people that are choosing legacy over currency.   Last week, we had famous YouTuber and salsa dancer extraordinaire, Evan Carmichael on the show talking about YouTube AND the concept of the one word.   Actually, we said, forget the concept, let's deep dive into how we can get to our one word for you and we used my brand / business as an example.   Evan didn't let me get away with the easy answers, so if you want to see me on the hot seat, be sure to check out that episode.   Going back to this week's mystery guest, he had to overcome crippling anxiety attacks to get to where he is today.   He beat them out with his 5 Pillars of Transformation.   Today he shows men and women how to use the 5 Pillars to lose 10 to 75 pounds, get a raise and make more money, find the love of their life, and overcome any obstacle in the way of success.   You can read his daily essays on success, productivity, and fitness at EarlyToRise.com   That probably was the biggest hint into who I am referring to, but IF you love productivity and entrepreneurship, then you are going to LOVE this episode.    In the interview, we break down not only how he launched such a successful home fitness workout system, but how he really got started.   He also breaks down the 5 pillars of transformation, as well as some of the rules he lives by that I think a lot of us will find impactful for our own productivity and how we approach our work / and life.   Show notes and links can be found www.theinnerchangemaker.com/podcast/095   LINKS -- Join the Legacy Driven Entrepreneurs Community (it's FREE): http://www.theinnerchangemaker.com/tribe Are you enjoying the podcast?
