How was it passed down to him from Super Bowl champions like coach Mike Tomlin, and cornerbacks William Gay and Will Allen? How have stars like T.J. Then later, Christopher welcomes Noah Hiles to discuss the state of Pitt football amid names including Dayon Hayes, Christian Veilleux and Solomon DeShields entering the transfer portal. Locked On Steelers – Daily Podcast On The Pittsburgh Steelers
Chris Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast. The Pittsburgh Steelers bye week has arrived, but Minkah Fitzpatrick spoke about how he and the team don't plan to take it lightly as they look to refocus on recover from their 2-6 record. Fitzpatrick matches the energy Najee Harris offered on the show earlier in the week in how Mike Tomlin is challenging the Steelers in how they must respond to their ugly start to the season. But who are the most likely leaders to emerge this season with all the struggles they faced? The last time the Steelers were 2-6 to start a season, it was players like Antonio Brown, Le'Veon Bell, Cam Heyward, Vince Williams and William Gay who became key contributors to the Steelers' next playoff streak. Tomlin and the Steelers have made sure to invest in high-character players who can be locker room leaders, look for guys like Kenny Pickett, Najee Harris, Pat Freiermuth, Cameron Sutton, George Pickens and others to have the chance to rise to the occasion and set the tone for the next brand of leadership for the Steelers. Also, all week 9 picks for the Locked on Steelers Pick'em League.CALL INTO THE SHOW AT 412-223-6644 or if international, e-mail your audio message to LOSTEELERSTOPICBAG@GMAIL.COMFollow Chris Carter on Twitter: @CarterCritiques.Theme music is 'Soul Kick' by Ceddy P, and 'Too Easy' by Nerdboy.

Ep 132 [S7-16 Bonus] David Joy “When These Mountains Burn” In today’s episode, we visit with David Joy, author of “When These Mountains Burn” and other novels. The Charlotte Observer calls David a “remarkably gifted storyteller.” Lee Smith, author of “Guests on Earth” calls David’s latest novel “Revelatory . . . Indelible characters from every side of the law converge in this fast-moving story. As fine a piece of writing as you are ever likely to encounter.” Joe R. Lansdale, author of “The Elephant of Surprise” says "this is the sort of novel I love. No worldwide conspiracies, or super crimes. Just flawed folks making bad choices, then having to live with the deadly consequences. David Joy has quickly become one of my favorite authors in the tradition of such fine novelist as Larry Brown and William Gay. Highly recommended." We start the show with David reading from the beginning of the book, where we meet Raymond Mathis, a man alone in a world that is burning down around him.

William Gay, a man of many careers, is now working as a coach and a teacher. He came to this after his career as a financial advisor fell apart and he decided to spend some time wandering as a homeless person. He lived in a boat in cape cod through the winter before rebuilding himself in fast food and then trying to teach the strategies he’s picked up over time. In this episode, he and Michael talk about how anyone can find it all out, the difficulties of adoption, his careers and experiences on the streets. Getting deeper into the nature of coaching, we find it’s really about asking what the client wants and asking them interesting questions about why until the how emerges, then you meet again in a month and see what’s improved. There’s a lot of talk about costs and payoffs and how they can help set priorities. We also learn that the real split between coaching and therapy is about temporal focus, one spends a lot of time in the past, the other in the future. Listen in and learn how you can get out of your own boat and get out there and do better. Season 9, Episode 117 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can and in this Tuesday show, Alex Kozora and I immediately talk about the Pittsburgh Steelers announcement on Tuesday that former players William Gay and David Johnson will serve as coaching interns with the team this summer. The Steelers third week of OTA practices will get underway on Tuesday following a team-building session on Monday so Alex and gloss over what all is on tap this week.Steelers defensive coordinator Keith Butler talked recently about his unit not producing enough turnovers in 2018 so we go over a few of his quotes in addition to going over some stats that Alex recently compiled regarding past Super Bowl champions and total turnovers. The Steelers defense missed out on 8 forced fumbles they caused last season so Alex and I quickly review those plays and how a few of the situations may have played out had those loose footballs been recovered by Pittsburgh. The Steelers now have less than a million in salary cap space following the signing of their 2019 draft class and Alex discuss why that’s no reason to freak out. We talk specifically about one Steelers players who might have his contact restructured later this summer and why. Some offensive line talk is mixed in during this episode as well. We also cover some quick news from around the league later in this show.Alex and I cover a few more items and then proceed to answer a few listener emails we have received recently to close out this episode. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post. Thanks for listening and don’t forget to call or email with questions or comments and please pass us along to your friends!

Bonne lecture !

No sparkly vampires here, instead we get Paul Newman, Susan Sarandon, and Gene Hackman in a fun noir thriller. The supporting cast is also formidable: Stockard Channing, James Garner, Reese Witherspoon, Live Schreiber, Giancarlo Esposito, Margo Martindale, John Spencer, and M. Emmet Walsh. Note: This Eric and Drew only episode was recorded in December 2015 and inserted into the calendar this week due to minor illness. It’s also a bite sized ep but hey, sometimes that happens. We’ll be back next week with a full-on three bro pod.
