Am 7.Januar 2005 starb Laye Alama Condé in Bremen. Er wurde einige Tage zuvor wurde er von der Polizei verschleppt. Im Polizeigewahrsam wurden ihm über 80 Minuten literweise Wasser und zwangsweise Brechmittel verabreicht. An den Folgen dieser Folter ist er ertrunken. Seit dem gibt es jährlich in Bremen eine Gedenkkundgebung.

Namulauulu Alama Ieremia is a New Zealand rugby union coach and former international player for Western Samoa and New Zealand. Alama sits down and has a chat to Pat about life and rugby. Ieremia was born in Sinamoga, a suburb of Apia, Samoa. He was educated in Samoa at Addington Primary School in Christchurch, New Zealand and later at Samoa College. He returned to New Zealand in 1991 to study Geography at Victoria University, where he began playing rugby.

San Diego State Football in recent years has produced a large amount of NFL draft picks through it's football program. Most recently Daniel Bollinger, Cam Thomas, Darren Hall, and Rashaad Penny. But not all the Aztecs in the NFL have gone by way of the draft. Just take a look at Daniel Brunskill to name one.  Either way SDSU football has continued to be very well represented among the pro football ranks and today we have three special guests from this years class who are all potential NFL Draft hopefuls. Starting Center on the offensive line Alama Uluave, RB Jordan Byrd and WR Jesse Matthews each had incredible collegiate careers here at SDSU and they were kind enough to each sit down and share some thoughts leading into this life changing week. Quinn Ewers and the Texas Longhorns fall 27-20 to Michael Penix Jr. and the Washington Huskies in the 30th anniversary of the Valero Alamo Bowl. In their first game without Bijan Robinson since 2019, the Texas Longhorns failed to run the ball effectively, and Quinn Ewers (who showed flashes of the superstar coming out of Southlake Carroll) couldn't do enough to lead the Longhorns to victory. Xavier Worthy who has gone from fan favorite to the doghouse, had a catastrophic drop that may have cost the Longhorns the game, and overall this Texas team was just outplayed by a tough Washington team that very well could have competed for a college football playoff spot. On the defensive side, a Texas defense led by Jaylan Ford that was stout against the run allowed Wayne Taulapapa to have one of the best games of his career. They allowed this Washington offense to convert on 57 percent of their third and fourth down conversions, while holding Michael Penix Jr. below his standard offensively. Improving on 5-7 was pretty much a lock based on the talent level on this Texas football team, and Steve Sarkisian being in his second year as the head coach. But 8-5 signifies that a lot of meat was left on the bone. Texas had a chance to beat Alabama, TCU, and Washington and somehow lost all of those games. Texas had a14 point lead against Oklahoma State and Texas Tech and somehow lost both of those games. Even though the offseason ended in a sad manner, we end the show with some Kool-Aid because of course. We talk about some of the positives we saw last night, including the explosiveness from Jonathon Brooks, and the growth and development from Quinn Ewers amongst other things. Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns take the field against a very tough opponent in the 10 win Washington Huskies team. Three storylines I will be watching out for in this game are, a month removed from the season, how much growth has Quinn Ewers shown at the quarterback position. After a less than stellar redshirt freshman season, Quinn Ewers has a chance to show that he has taken a very positive step towards being the next great QB at the 40 acres with a positive showing against the Washington Huskies on Thursday. Will Quinn Ewers reach the potential we all know he has and showed at times in the first three games, or will he be the next high profile recruit to flame out in college football? The second storyline I'm most interested in seeing is the RB play without Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson, specifically in Jonathon Brooks. Losing players like Bijan and Roschon are huge losses but based on what Brooks has shown in spot duty gives a lot of Longhorn fans hope that he can carry the torch. Jonathon Brooks has amassed 322 yards and 5 touchdowns on just 45 carries in his Texas career. His combination of downhill running and vision will suit him well in a full time role behind what should be a very good offensive line next season. Last but not least, the Texas defense will have a very tough matchup against the FBS leader in passing yards this season, Michael Penix Jr. for the Washington Huskies. This Texas defense was ranked 89th in passing yards this year, allowing four 300 yard passers on the season. Michael Penix threw for 300 yards in 10 of his 12 games. Iron sharpens iron huh?
